I bought an Interstate battery 5 months ago. I just now noticed that it was dead so I took it to a local auto parts store to be charged. I was told that the battery was dead so I took it back to Interstate yesterday. I was told by Interstate that the battery was still good and that auto parts stores do not have the proper equipment to charge a dead battery. Interstate said that it would take 48 hours to properly charge the battery. I will pick up the fully charged battery tomorrow. The message here is : don't take an auto parts store word that a battery is dead. Take it to a battery shop. Ferny is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. During this time of self-quarantine, I had not been driving my 2015 Honda CR-V much, since I had been required to work from home. I went out to start my car, after not having driven it for several days. Guess what? Yep--dead battery. I called my roadside assistance, and they came out to jump the car. The driver recommended that I go have my batter tested at Interstate Batteries. I went out on some errands, making sure not to turn the car off. I then made it over to Interstate All Battery Center in La Mesa. I got there right at 3:00 pm. Fernando "Ferny" was just starting to close. At first, all he said was that he could check my battery, but would be unable to do anything else that day. When he checked the battery, he noted that it was the original one from the factory. I pretty much knew that I would be needing a new battery, so it wasn't a surprise. He offered to change the battery right then and there. Ferny was willing to stay 40 minutes late on the Saturday before Easter, to help me out. He changed out the battery and made sure that all my blue tooth connections were OK. He was very pleasant and seemed more than happy to accommodate me. I would recommend Fernando "Ferny" to anyone as the 'go-to' guy for batteries at Interstate All Battery Center in La Mesa!!! Have an issue with a brand new interstate battery. They charged me $15 to re-charge a new battery which is dead again. Rather than replace they say I should take my trailer which is brand new to have it checked even though we do not leave the battery hooked up to it. Would definitely not recommend this location they are just in it for the $15 charge fees. Oh well we live we learn read more

I want to share my visit yesterday at 5:00pm to the store which it was my first time ever knowing about this store that sells batteries. I was having trouble at work today with my car battery and I called my road side assistants. They came and only gave me a jump and say to me to go to Interstate to change my battery. I went to this store in University St. the employee named FERNY FERNANDEZ patiently inspected carefully my car. He found the real issue was that one of the terminals was loose and mention to me that is dangerous to drive like that. He also, tested by current battery and he show me that is working good. He explain to me everything in detail. Is really rear to find honest people now in days because he could easy tell me that I needed to purchase a battery and he did not. He was really kind, helpful, and explain to me every step of what he was doing in my car. He even clean my current battery and put everything back the same way it was. I will definitely come back anytime I need a battery to this place. I strongly recommend to got and ask for FERNY. I almost forgot I asked him how much will the service be and he say usually is $25 but that for this time since it was something easy for him is at no charge. I unfortunately had an issue with my battery. I called and spoke to Ferny at the location on University. Being frustrated I wasn't the nicest person. Ferny could sense my frustration and was still completely professional. He told me to come down so they could test the battery. I went down there and he was able to give me a replacement and gave me some tips on what to do and what not to do with my battery for future reference. He said if it happened again to bring it to them and they would be more than happy to charge it up for me. He was very pleasant towards to me despite my earlier phone call. Salesperson tested my dead battery and showed me how to bring it back to life (when he could have just taken my money). The salesperson even loaned me a jumper cable. I purchased a vehicle battery with a 5 year warranty on Tuesday. The salesperson was very nice and they installed it within 45 mins. Within a week by vehicle was difficult to start and left me stranded several times. (Thank God for AAA). I went and had the vehicle battery checked near where I was left stranded and was told the battery was charging and so the alternator was good. Maybe the problem was the starter. I saw the testing machine on the battery and it was indeed charging. I took the vehicle to the closest Toyota dealer. After waiting 6 hours the vehicle was returned with a note that the battery was bad and a Charge of $62.50. I returned to Interstate Battery and they replaced the battery but refused to pay the $67.50 service charge from the Toyota mechanic. I don't understand why they think anyone (Toyota Mechanic) would work for free...they currently don't. The warranty does state they will not reimburse after 30 days but since it was within 10 days I thought for sure they would reimburse as a good will measure since the problem was their battery. The manager, Joe, of the La Mesa store refused to and the Corporate office said I should have returned the vehicle to them. Since they are not mechanics and I took it to the closest Toyota dealer I was surprise by their response not to reimburse the expense their faulty battery caused. I was not asking for any addition funds for the Triple AAA services or the aggregation of being stranded. I really tried to support local shops but I could have gotten better customer service from Pep Boys or Auto Zone and the battery would probably have been good the first time around. read more

I called the interstate battery store in la mesa and talked to Ferny to see about replacing the battery in my wife's car. He explained the return policy to me in clear concise manner. I brought my battery in and Ferny greeted me as I walked in the store then showed me where to place my old battery. He did several tests on my battery and said it was internally shorted. He quickly found a replacement battery, helped me shop in the store a little bit and I was on my way. The gentleman behind the counter offered to have our current battery retested after charging it for a day or two, but because we needed the car running ASAP, we elected to just buy a replacement battery. I have probably bought 10 to 15 batteries and referred about 10 people to this store since around 2003/4 or so. I have always had impeccable service and they have always gone above and beyond. Last week i sent my son to get a core, basically reduced price (maybe blemished case or whatever) but same warranty. Over the past week he used up his AAA and had me and others come jump start his car 6 times. When we went back the employee, Caleb, thought he was doing us a favor since they had given my son a used part, not a core. The difference in cost apparently $7.00. It was not the money that he wanted extra, but the principal of the inconvenience and when I voice it, he told me that he had given me free re installation after switching out. Then told me I am not listening to him when in actual fact I understood exactly but he would not listen to my point. After the conversation got heated, he taunted me multiple times to "Take a shot". What kind of an idiot says that or would even attempt taking the "shot". Although one employee is not a measure of the companies performance, that one employee is a reflection of their HR skills which can certainly damage a good companies reputation. read more

Fantastic service! Ferny Jimenez was so helpful. I came in right as they were closing and he took the time to check my battery. When the battery light came on I assumed I needed a battery but after Ferny doing some diagnostics he said it wasn't the battery but it was being drained due to the alternator not working. He could of easily sold me a battery but didn't. I took my car to my mechanic and it was my alternator. But because it drained my battery I'm getting a new one, and of course I'm getting an interstate battery! read more
