Not having a car all day for a regular oil change is not great. For me, it can be worth it for some services, but know that you will be paying a bit more and may not get the fastest completion of services.

We called Mike for an estimate, and he came and looked over our Jeep the same day. He took excellent care of us, was honest, and explained his hypothesis of what was wrong with the car. HIs rates were fair and he was just overall wonderful to work with. 2 hours after he arrived to our complex (after having our car towed home), our jeep is up and running better than ever. And for very little compared to what Pep Boys tried to sell us. He even showed us that the "broken" fan, in fact worked, and gave us a year's guarantee on his labor. Anyway, they charged me over $100 to pay for a diagnostic fee, to tell me the battery was bad - a free service at any auto parts store and also on a brand new battery. I had no choice but to pay because it was a weekend, and was closing soon, and I needed to get it towed to a different shop to get the starter replaced. I called the service manager to explain, and ask they refund the diagnostic fee since it was wrong and poorly diagnosed. He was too busy to talk and said he would call back. Still waiting for that call. I don't think they intentionally tried to take advantage of me, but that was a pretty incompetent diagnosis of a car that wouldn't start and will not rely on them again.
