UPDATE: I'm back again! One thing I didn't mention before is that this spot is set up like a bazaar, with about 5 different food vendors all in one building, which makes it really fun if you like options. This time there was jazz playing which set a lovely mood. I tried Abyssinia Ethiopian Cuisine and got the combination plate: doro wat, beef tibs, cabbage, lentils, chickpeas, and spinach. Huge portion, took it to go, and the service was actually really nice. The food itself? Absolutely amazing. Great spice, flavorful chickpeas, tender cabbage with carrots and potatoes, balanced spinach, and doro wat felt like a little bonus treat. 10/10, no complaints. Then I made the mistake of going back to Soe's Kitchen for the mango sticky rice. The staff were short and dry (again), no smiles, no warmth, and it looked like they were annoyed I was there. The "sticky rice" was actually a mushy brown mess swimming in coconut milk with hard, unripe mango on top. Nary a grain of rice was found. It looked like it had been sitting there forever. I couldn't even eat it. This disappointed me bc I was very excited to try it, 0/10. ** I want to be clear, the International House itself is awesome. Lots of fun vendors, a cool vibe, and great options. Hence the 4 stars. I just can't recommend this particular mango sticky rice vendor. read more

This space is truly one of the best spots on my list in Buffalo. There are so many choices here that there really is something for everyone. From tacos, to Filipino, and everything in between. The space is way more open and so much better seating wise with the remodel. My pick here always seems to be Pinoy Boi. The fried spam and rice bowl is out of this world. Service here is always nice and even though I haven't sat down, the bar looks great here too! This is also my first stop before any show at Shea's or a game down at the arena. It really is a must do when you're downtown. When you can't decide on what to eat, or you have multiple people with different ideas, this is the place to go to make everyone happy. read more

Update 02/03/2026: We came for Ethiopian at Abyssinia, and they were closed until 02/05/26, so we bee-lined to La Divina Tacos. Outstanding food! Parking was tricky: We arrived near curtain time at Shea's Theater; between the hundreds of theater-goers and the high snow berms, we resorted to using the public parking lot for $7. It was difficult walking through the gates and down the sidewalks due to all the snow. This is not the place for heels at this time. International House Buffalo is a vibrant and welcoming space for all ages. While the main entry point is Le Flamant Rose/Pink Flamingo Bar, there are five kitchens on-site where the friendly staff serves delicious ethnic cuisine Tuesday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The exception is La Divina Tacos, where you can enjoy their delicacies until midnight, as well as drinks from Le Flamant Rose, which opens at 4 p.m. Nile River with South Sudanese Cuisine, Pattaya Street Food with Burmese/Thai, Abbysinia Ethiopian Cousin, Pinoy Boi with specialities from the Philippines, and already mentioned above everyone's favorite La Divina Tacos. All in one spot. After renovation and new management, this place got some positive lift. Are you feeling playful! I saw ping pong tables, bumper pool, darts and some pinball tables (or just one, not sure). The atmosphere is casual, whether you're sitting at the bar on ultra-comfortable pink stools, sipping a dirty martini, or hanging out with friends playing ping-pong. Really love the updates made to this space! The colorful decor and new seating really make this a more bright and welcoming place to enjoy lunch. Three prior vendors from Downtown Bazaar are still here: Pinoi Boy, Nile River, and the Ethiopian restaurant. Then in the front, La Divina and Pattaya are both new, and the bar is actually open now. I came for lunch and really enjoyed the sushi I got from Pattaya, and eating it outside on a beautiful sunny day. The space was also clean and organized, with plenty of seating. We had the pleasure of eating here last night with a few friends. It's a great place to try a variety of different foods. You have a choice of Ethiopian. Burmese, Thai, & Mexican, amongst other choices. Our table was full of a variety of items. I personally had Goat curry from Nile River, a Sudanese dish and some Limpias from Pinoy Poi, a Filipino restaurant. Also tried chicken gufuma from the Ethiopian restaurant Abyssinia. Had a wonderful evening here with friends, gabbing away over delicious food from each vendor! It is a clean and inviting space with cozy lighting. You can order at as many places as you like; they will give you a buzzer that will let you know when your food is ready (they are numbered, so remember which number goes to which place you ordered from). On this visit, I ordered a crunchy roll from pattaya and nachos with chicken from La Davina! The portions were plentiful, with leftovers going to my kiddo at home which he was pleased with. I enjoyed both and would gladly eat both again and trust switching up my orders too. The wait for food is not long at all. There is a parking lot on the back side you can pay to park in. I personally take advantage of free street parking but I know a parking lot can make people feel a better sense of security so the choice is certainly yours! There is a bar here too. Ping pong tables. Some arcade games. It's a nice option to really relax and enjoy the company of others without feeling like you need to eat and leave, as well as to expand your palate! My stomach had immense instant pain after eating the food. I had the Rice Noodle Salad with Tofu. It just wasn't good, I couldn't eat it. It was very eggy and reminded me of packaged ramen. I also tried the curry with I didn't care for either. To me, it tasted a lot like shrimp which I don't like. I tried a little of the Ethiopian patter which was alright. I should've just gone with the sushi there cause the California Roll sample piece was the best thing I ate. 3/5 stars because my family seemed to enjoy the food greatly. read more

I've really enjoyed this place and was looking forward to becoming a regular. Two weeks ago, I stopped in and ordered my usual items. The only difference was that I used my physical credit card instead of Apple Pay, which I typically rely on. That was the only time I used my card all week--and a few days later, it was flagged for fraudulent activity. Someone had used it to purchase cryptocurrency. I reached out to the establishment to share what happened, but unfortunately, I never received a response. I've since been working with my bank's fraud department to resolve the issue. I'm very intentional about how I use this particular card, so the timing and circumstances were hard to ignore. Word to the wise: stick to cash or use tokenized payment methods like Apple Pay. The renovation the space is fantastic and it's great to see people rediscovering some of the best food in Buffalo. Heard they had great food at the Mexican place in there. So I went on lunch to check it out & walked right out when I saw that they were charging more for using debit card then paying in cash..
