I am writing this review on behalf of my family. DO NOT FLY THIS AIRLINE. We booked our flight months ago, and while there were mixed reviews, we figured it was just because when people are upset, that is when they write a review. But believe ALL the bad reviews.
We scheduled to fly out on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 9 am PST. But we received a call at 6 pm PST, on Friday June 21, 2019 stating that our flight had been cancelled. While Interjet did offer us another flight, it was for Sunday, June 23, 2019. Which caused us to lose a whole day, in our resort. Also, because we received the call so late, we had already boarded our dog. So, between the resort and boarding our dog, we have lost $290.00 USD, at this point.
On Sunday, June 23, 2019; our flight from Tijuana to Mexico City, boarded on time, at 12:20 pm PST, but we were kept in the air for 1 hour longer, due to weather conditions, circling close to the Mexico City airport. Because of this delay, we had to run from one gate to the other, as our flight was scheduled to board in just 7 minutes. But our flight was delayed for 4 hours! We did not receive any food or compensation for this delay. We had to scramble to contact the resort and our ground transportation, yet again! We did not arrive to Cancun until 12:30 am CST, Monday, June 24, 2019! We did not arrive at our resort until 1:30 am CST! So we are now at a loss of $540.00 USD!
On our return flight, on Saturday, June 29, 2019; we arrived at the airport at 7 am CST. The flight, which was set to board at 9:00 am CST and leave at 9:50 am CST is already DELAYED! We did not leave Cancun until 10:30 am CST and arrived in Mexico City at 12:30 pm CST. Once there, we see that our flight is delayed, by 1 hour. But that delay would be followed by delay after delay. And our gate was changed 3 times. Each time, the woman at the gate kept telling us that there was no flight crew available. The same reason given at the beginning of the day.
Our flight got pushed back all the way to 10:00 pm CST, and then was pushed back again, at 8 pm CST! At this point, there are 95 of us, who have all suffered delays to and from our various locations. There are elderly people in Wheelchairs who have gone hours without their prescribed medications, because they had to check them. There are babies who are sick and have gone without their checked medication, or are running low on diapers and formula! Enough, was enough. My husband and I approached the gate and insisted that they do something. So they finally offered food vouchers, after a 6 hour delay! But the vouchers were for a Deli, that served small portions and mostly meat sandwiches. What about those on restrictive diets?
Because we are Vegans, we could not accept the Voucher. As was the case with many of the travelers. We went back and demanded something else be done, that they get us a flight crew, ASAP; because 8 travelers recounted having to sleep on the floor, in the airport, overnight on their previous flight!
Interjet finally got a flight crew and we left the Airport at 12:15 am CST, on Sunday, June 30, 2019! We arrived in Tijuana at 3:15 am PST. And now I have been on the phone for 2 hours, on hold, trying to get our compensation for our total loss of $640.00 USD. They insist that all I am entitled to is a free round trip flight, on Interjet. WHY WOULD I EVER FLY INTERJET AGAIN?
According to Mexico law, this is what should be done:
"* If the delay is more than four hours or cancelled and the airline must reimburse the full airfare and give customers compensation of no less than 25% of the original ticket price, or provide substitute transportation on its first available flight. If a passenger has to wait overnight for that flight the airline will have to provide passengers with access to meals, lodging and ground transportation to and from the airport."
"REIMBURSE (OR REFUND) THE FULL AIRFARE AND GIVE CUSTOMERS COMPENSATION OF NO LESS THAN 25% OF THE ORIGINAL TICKET PRICE"
This, is what I want, a refund, NOTHING ELSE. And I don't even want a full refund. I am willing to meet you half way, on our $1400 tickets! But they are unwilling to comply.
