I have flown out of the Tijuana airport a few times in my life, the most recent time being last week. It was the first time I went to that airport since CBX had been constructed. Hubby and I were headed to Puerto Escondido, which is very expensive and very time-consuming to fly to from the airport in San Diego. However, flight prices and times were much more reasonable from Tijuana. Thanks to CBX, we didn't need to find anyone to cross the border and drive us directly to the airport, especially as our flight departed at 5:40 AM. It was nice to have an easy drop off on this side of the border. Anyway, we were dropped off on the US side, and had pre-purchased CBX tickets online for $50 per person, round trip. I felt that the price was very fair for the staffing and amenities along the way. We had already reserved a rideshare to drive us to CBX, but I saw the secure parking lots and realized that parking there is also a valid, safe option. It appeared that some of the secured parking cost about $30 per day, making it a good option depending how may days you would like to park your car. Anyway, when we entered, there were people guiding us, as it wasn't too crowded at that early hour. You scan your CBX ticket, your boarding pass, and your passport. Then you are able to walk through the barriers. There are escalators and elevators to get to the bridge, and signs stating that there is assistance available for people with disabilities. The bridge was clean and air-conditioned. We walked through customs just prior to entering the Tijuana airport. When I had learned about CBX, I was reluctant. A friend of mine told me that she had walked much further in various airports. It is true. The walk is short and easy Upon coming back to the states, we learned that there were several taco and other food trucks on the US side of CBX, as well as Starbucks and a well-known mall pretzel company. All in all, I am grateful to have a way to access the TJ airoprt in a very easy and affordable way. I plan to continue to use CBX for more affordable flights south of the border. read more

Easy peasy. With CBX, San Diego County basically gets a bonus airport out of TIJ that offers more direct flights, especially to other parts of Mexico. I used CBX to fly from TIJ to San Miguel Allende 10 years ago, and recently to Cancun. Both times were uneventful, exactly how I like my airport experiences to be. Purchase your CBX pass and parking ahead of time. Parking is priced cheapest in the dirt lot and most expensive in the covered/paved lot. I prefer the Goldilocks of uncovered paved in Lot A up front. Upon arrival, scan your CBX ticket and boarding pass (you can link them and just scan boarding pass as well, but don't need to). Same on the way back. read more

Beats the heck out of crossing at the border. Depending on where you're headed, flying out of Tijuana can be considerably cheaper and CBX can make that a relatively painless process. Get dropped off, scan your pass, go through customs and BOOM, you're in the TJ airport. Easy peasy. read more

So easy to use if you want to fly out of Tijuana, Mexico, but enter through San Diego. There are many parking lots to choose from if you'll be leaving your car parked there. Lot J is the cheapest, but also the farthest. You can drive right up to the beginning of the terminal drop off for CBX, and pull up to the left for valet too. Once you enter the building, you will need to show your passport. If you're staying 7 days or more, you will need to pay for a permit. The attendants will ask you when you get through the bridge, and they'll show you to the pay pads. Next is where your passport will be stamped, and up the escalators, or elevators, then finally you get to the airline counters to check in bags if needed. The building is very clean, organized, and has plenty of restrooms. I'm totally gonna go this route again next time I'm vacationing anywhere in Mexico. read more

We recently used CBX for our flight to Cabo, as price difference and convenience of flying domestically in Mexico was well worth it! CBX is basically an extension of the airport terminal, as it is not a standard border crossing, it is for airport passengers only. The process was fairly simple, we purchased our crossing for $35 per person, scanned the code upon entry, then went through security/customs on our into TIJ airport. They have a few separate lanes, so be prepared for which one you need to use. There is one for non-MX passport holders spending less than 7 days in MX, one for the same but more than 7 days and then a lane for MX passport holders. If you are spending more than 7 days, you'll need to complete the additional travel forms. There is a station for that if needed. The CBX is well laid out, in good condition, features clear signage is clean and easy to navigate. Once you complete your steps within CBX, you are dumped out right to security in TIJ. Overall, the process was easy and convenient. When visiting San Diego and making our way into and out of Mexico, CBX is definitely our go to option! read more

I arrived early going southbound. I purchased my CBX ticket online as well as my Mexico immigration form and airline ticket. What I did not know is the immigration forms have to be used within 72 hours. Thankfully, once I crossed the pedestrian bridge someone helped me fill out a new form, print it out and pay the fee. The rest went easily, but took a while because of the long lines. Scan your CBX ticket and boarding pass to cross. You will need your passport multiple times. Save your immigration form and fee payment receipt. Cancel the immigration form once you return and before crossing back into the USA. Then be ready to go through immigration, customs, then airport security. Lines for each, so come early. It took me about 90 minutes. Overall, it was easy, and so much nicer than crossing elsewhere and trying to get to the airport. read more

This is a great way to travel throughout Mexico from San Diego. The first time was a learning experience with all the paperwork and parking options, but the parking lots were plentiful. We flew in from Mazatlán to Tijuana and used the CBX Cross Border Xpress. This was the first time for us, so didn't know what to expect, but wow am I impressed. It runs very efficiently and especially on the Mexican side, there are employees that guide and assist you through the process (especially us first-timers). It was a bit of a walk, but it just flowed. The highlight was standing within the boundary of each country (see my photo). Once we exited, there was a nice area with tables and chairs where we waited for our ride. In our case, I think the $30 to enter the US using this route was well worth it. read more

We took the gamble and decided to fly out of Tijuana and it was the best decision of our whole trip! Both getting into and leaving the Tijuana airport was simple and a breeze. Minimal wait times for checking in, the security line, and customs. Easy drop off and pickup for Uber. They also have parking lots on site. It helps to purchase your CBX ticket online in advance so you can just scan and go through the gate. I also recommend you fill out your FMM form in advance online and print it out to help expedite getting into Tijuana. From entering CBX to getting to our plane's gate it was only 30 minutes. The hardest part was the long walk crossing the border in the corridor. Hopefully this was not a fluke and this is how smoothly CBX normally runs. If so, I will definitely be going through CBX for all my future Mexico trips. read more

Very impressive! We flew back from Loreto today. From the time we got out of the plane to the time we step foot outside of the CBX was about 15-20 minutes. Not bad at all. As long as you have all your paperwork on hand, things are smooth. Passport and CBX bar code and that's it. It was a great experience. Lots of walking lol, but fast process. On 1/1/26, I had a prepaid reservation to park in Lot E for 8 days. Upon arrival, the entire lot was full. After circling for 40 minutes, I was forced to valet my car, costing an additional $376 on top of the $160 I had already prepaid. I have tried contacting support@crossborderexpress.com multiple times and submitted a complaint form, but I have not received a response. As a loyal customer who has always had a great experience with CBX, I am very disappointed. Please contact me immediately to resolve this issue and refund the extra fees. read more

Details of our trip- we left out of TJ to Mexico City on a Wednesday morning. 9:30 flight so we got to CBX at around 7, just to be sure. We moved through security and customs in no more than 20 minutes, it was a breeze. On our return, we arrived at around 10 on Saturday night and going back through customs was a breeze again. I heard that there can be some long wait times but that wasn't our experience at all. We will be using the TJ airport for a lot of trips moving forward and will be happy to use the CBX to get there. read more

I don't know why one would rate CBX anything less than five stars. CBX is really helpful for US residents to fly in and out of TIJ. Check out my friend Brad B.'s tips in his review. It is possible that, depending upon where you live, where you want to fly to, and which airline you may prefer, that CBX might not be worth it for you in terms of time and money. I have flown from TIJ twice, and CBX was a great option both times. It's so much faster and easier to cross the border here, especially coming back to the US, but, of course, YMMV. The parking customer service is the worst experience I have ever had. I couldn't cancel my reservation, and they refused to give me a refund. (The answer, along with all the typos are exactly as they emailed). The app is a joke. After plenty of back and forth, here is their answer: We would like to inform you that passengers are solely responsible for following those instructions since we do not offer refunds nor credits, reservations guarantee a stall even if the lot is full. In this case your payment corresponds to the use of lot J and the reserved spot on lot E. Even if you did not use the space. it remained reserved for you and was not available to other passengers on high travel dates. On future ocasion we recommend that you cancel your reservation and make a new on with the correct time and date. We have issued the refund for the unused reservation considering you mentioned experiencing issues while attempting to cancel. read more

For $130 for two people they only have two customs people clearing 500 individuals trying to cross took us just two hours to just clear customs barely making our flight. I used to consider CBX a competitive alternative to LAX but I cannot recommend them any further. To be fair, their selling points (I still consider) are the flight options to Mexican destinations. There may be direct flights or shorter layovers compared to flights departing from LAX. In addition, the ease of crossing in/out of the border stands out (just be prepared to do some walking). Here are the deterrents. I'll numerate this list. 1. To start off, you'll be parking on dirt lots for general parking (ranges from $17 and up). 2. There is no customer service # to call in case you have any issues (example, the parking lot you booked may have been overbooked). There is an intercom at the entrance/exit; however, the quality is a joke. You cannot understand a word the rep says! 3. If you're traveling to Mexico for more than 7 nights, be prepared to pay the FMM fee ($45 per person). 4. A round-trip ticket to cross will cost you between $50 and $60 depending on the season. Side note: if there is an event with weather conditions that delays your flight, you'll incur additional parking fees if it surpasses the confirmed dates. On my last trip, the Tijuana Airport completely shut down due to fog. My plane had to return back to Mexico City mid-flight! I had to pay the difference due to the extended stay. I did attempt to plead my case with the rep on the intercom without success. In closing, if you live near San Diego, CBX is probably your best option (especially if you have transportation arrangements) but I would reconsider if you're commuting from OC or LA. read more

We had an excellent experience. It was very safe, fast and easy. We were dropped off so don't know about parking. I had our bridge ticket printed out. We also had passport and boarding pass. They check documents to cross the bridge. It takes 10 min to cross. The passport line on the other side had no wait. Then through security and to the gate. We were in a downstairs area with 2 gates. They have drinks but no food. I believe there is food available in the main gate area. Then we walked on the tarmac to the plane. Returning was just as easy. We'll use CBX again. Much cheaper flights than from San Diego Airport. read more

BEWARE OF PARKING SCAM USING QR CODES. It is the second time it happens to me. The first time was last year when I paid for parking via their posted QR codes and my credit card was then flagged for fraudulent activity. There were various charges in the same general area of San Diego. My card was then locked and I got a new one. I didn't think it had anything to do with the pay parking This year, I paid for parking again via a QR code. This time I used my debit card, and a few days later I noticed small payments of a few dollars. I disputed them and I thought that was it but still blocked my card and got a new one. A few days later I got about 5 notifications of random charges in Sacramento, Utah, Las Vegas, Missouri, and Louisiana. I immediately blocked my card and ordered a new one. Once I activated my new cards, I started getting more notifications which I was able to block because it alerted the fraud department in my bank. About a week later, AGAIN. This time, a fake call from my bank stating there was fraud on my account and asking for personal information which I did not provide. These people hacked into my phone and were able to get my passwords and card information. I was able to change my passwords and secure my phone but it was a headache please DO NOT TRUST THE QR CODES. POR FAVOR NO PAGUEN EL ESTACIONAMIENTO POR MEDIO DE LOS CODIGOS QR. ES FRAUDE. Ya van dos veces que me sucede, al pagar con estos códigos. Una ves sucedió hace un año, y la otra ves este año. No pensé que hubiese sido esa la razón que sucedió el fraude de la primera vez, pero no creo en las coincidencias. Los desvergonzados se pudieron meter a mi teléfono y accesaron mis dos cuentas de banco y pudieron cambiar mis contraseñas para negarme acceso a mis cuentas. I was very skeptical to use the CBX. I had never really heard about it until my coworker told me about it. They told me that they had a parking lot and it was safe to use. I didn't think that it would be so clean and organized. It is kind of pricey but it is worth it. I parked my car on the street parking since it was the cheapest option. I didn't want to pay double just to park inside. Anyway once I got my ticket, they let us through and we walk this bridge that doesn't feel like a bridge, but we reach Mexican customs and voila! We have used CBX about 12 times since it opened. Ten observations: 1) The new CBX is much more efficient than when they started. Night and day. 2) CBX should be distinguished from Mexican customs and immigration. Mexican immigration still sucks going south. Don't get caught in the trap. 7 days or less, you don't pay. They have it 7 days or more. Print your return ticket because immigration will ask you for it if you are 7 days or less. DON'T fall for the scam! Remember though, you have to count the current day in your 7 days, it doesn't start the next day. 3) Prices have increased at CBX, not quite the value it once was. Factor in FMM fees if you stay more than 7 days, and parking, you may not be saving much unless you fly VivaAerobus. Volaris isn't a deal some of the time because of the TUA fee added. 4) Parking has improved 1000% at CBX. But stay a week and you're looking at over $150 if not more, especially if you use a premium lot. In the early days, you would see multiple cars sideswiped in the parking lot who had parked on the ends. Haven't seen anything recently but they are warning Kia drivers not to park on the street due to car theft. 5) Red-eye flights and holidays can jam up immigration and customs on both sides, expect to wait, especially going south. We arrived three hours early for a flight to Cancun and almost missed our flight one time going south. One immigration officer working and over 300 people in line. Ridiculous. 6) Don't forget to keep your boarding pass for coming back into the USA, without it, you won't get into CBX. You need your CBX ticket and your boarding pass to return to the USA. 7) Fill out your FMM form online before you go, and if you're staying more than 7 days, you can even pay your fee. This streamlines the process. BTW, this is where the 7 days or less can be found for your reference. 8) Always bring paper copies of your boarding pass, FMM form, and CBX tickets. Don't ask why, just do it. :) 9) At least two times, after a red-eye flight, we've had luggage issues, once with Volaris and once with VivaAerobus. We waited over 2 hours one time. I don't think the airport staffs as many handlers for late night flights. Hopefully this has been remedied. 10) Lastly, remember to check your flight status. Depending on the route, they may run late. Probably 30% of the time we've run more than 30 minutes late. Our last three flights, two to Cabo on VivaAerobus, and one to Mazatlan on Volaris, all ran late, over 2 hours for a Cabo flight. The same for picking someone up, make sure they are actually on the plane before you plan your arrival to pick them up. read more
