Check in was rough, but they gave us a voucher. The room was amazing and the view was incredible! The rooftop was beautiful too - but the bar closed early, that was annoying (we got there at 7:30 and it said it closed at 8, but they said it was too late to order - you order via phone). So, the service could be better but the place was AMAZING! The only other problem was there's a club (12 stories) connected and we stayed on the 11th floor of the hotel and it was so hard to go to sleep...that was a pretty big issue. Can't give it 5 stars for that alone (and the service needs improvement), but that VIEWWWW!

Celebrated our milestone Anniversary last weekend with dinner at a Michelin rated restaurant and in our mind the 5 star Michelin Intercontinental Hotel located in the Wharf in DC. We have had the pleasure of staying previously and under GM Chris Lee and his staff including Ian Young, Safa, Nazar, the front desk, pretty much everyone including housekeeping who were all terrific, we had an awesome in spite of the rain during the time we stayed. As both Diamond Ambassadors, we were treated royally for our special occasion and the upgrade and welcome amenities were just unexpected, generous and made our stay so special. Located right in between 2 piers, easy parking, a wharf full of activities including restaurants, the Anthem, its lively and great location for staycation. We made time to go up to the rooftop this time and enjoyed the view and of course it's where the pool is located. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet for Diamond members. It has everything for everyone. We left early Saturday after thanking everyone including management, parking , bell staff and security for a memorable stay. GM Lee you continue to Rock!!!

Beautiful rooftop view, rooms, building in general. Staff were very nice, even included a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. Had a great time. Will definitely come back.

Stayed at this hotel for a few nights during our DC trip and really enjoyed it. Beautiful newly built hotel situated on the wharf overlooking picturesque river and yachts. A bunch of restaurants lined up on wharf from seafood grill to burger joint. It was quite a vibrant night life on a Saturday filled with lights, music and chatters. Beautiful clean room with comfortable beds, modern bathroom and luxurious amenities. Lavish and tastefully designed lobby. Wonderful breakfast, courteous and polite service. Pool was not good at all, small and shallow. There was a heavy wind that day when we were in, food got blown to the pool flowing on water. Staff were just standing there, didn't bother to take the initiative to clean up. If you don't mind swimming with Cesar salad, stay. We left. There's a daily amenity charge $40 to cover pool, gym etc. service, but the pool condition, maintenance and service are all poor. We had a very good time and would recommend this hotel, just don't use the pool.

Fantastic Girls' Night Out! We went for a girls' night, and everything was amazing! The food was delicious, and the ambiance was perfect. Our server, Sipan, took great care of us--such a kind and attentive person. Highly recommended!

Located within the Wharf area of Washington DC, the InterContinental Hotel is a lovely waterfront hotel. The newly renovated Wharf area provides easy access to an array of restaurants and shops that enhances the overall experience of your hotel stay. The hotel has elegant décor throughout and is very tastefully done. The rooms are spacious, exuding modern luxury and most have stunning views of the waterfront. The in room amenities, from plush bedding to Harney tea and plenty of conveniently located electrical outlets, ensures a comfortable stay. The check-in process was extremely slow but in fairness the hotel seemed understaffed and fully booked. Overall this hotel remains a top choice for me when staying in DC.

Lovely hotel on the wharf and a great location. All of the staff were wonderful and so helpful. The room was perfect, with a nice view of the water. It also had both a shower and a separate bath tub! They sent up some fruit and water as an anniversary present, which was very sweet. The bed was comfortable and the minibar was well stocked. We also did room service breakfast and the food was expensive (as expected) but came quickly and everything was correct and delicious. We would definitely come back next time we spend time on the wharf!

Yet another exceptional stay thanks to Chris (GM), Khristine (Guest Relations Mgr) & Neil (Director of Rooms). We really appreciate the gracious upgrade to Compass Suite #714, along with the welcome amenities, refrigerator & microwave! ~$35 Guest Amenity Fee (waived for Diamond members) includes $15 minibar CR + $15 daily bar CR (applicable at Waves, Watering Hole or Dockside) $20 Intercontinental Ambassador property CR (applicable everywhere except Spa) Diamond Elite Voucher - Breakfast for 2 ($80 CR) @ Dockside Early check-in (requested, granted) Late 4pm check out (ambassador benefit, guaranteed) Compass Suite 3D Walkthrough https://visitingmedia.com/tt8/?ttid=intercontinental-washington-dc-the-wharf#/3d-model If you're trying to get to IC Wharf via metro, there's a free "SW Neighborhood Shuttle" from L'Enfant Plaza. Get off at CVS (two stops from L'Enfant metro) and the hotel is a couple steps away. Super convenient. https://www.wharfdc.com/getting-here/southwest-shuttle/ The floating hardwood in this unit is a little too floaty around the bathroom hallway corridor. The safe is somewhat problematic as it takes 5+ times to actually lock. Other than that, everything was PERFECT, including the exceptional weather!

Loved it! The whole facility is pristine. Excellent bar and staff. From the front desk to valet crews, they were flawless. Magnificent location on the wharf path, so many restaurants and water view bars are available. Arjan at the front desk was flawless in helping me check in. The bed is fantastic, and the room is ample, with a great walk-in shower and a perfect size tv.

Check-in was easy and smooth even though I made reservations through Priceline. I only live in Maryland, but coming here felt like a real vacation to celebrate a friends birthday party. I got an executive king room, and the size was FANTASTIC! I was there for one night and was surprised when I received a knock on the door at 9am from the cleaning crew asking if I wanted my room cleaned. I was sleep and did not appreciate being awaken way before checkout. I said no, but then later they came back at 11 am... they were right there knocking at the door. Room service was delicious but there was a mix up delivering a birthday surprise which ruined the moment a little but the front desk clerk fixed the problem right away. I absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone! It is also surrounded by great restaurants and local shops. And not far from the major sites of DC. But also great for a staycation!

This was a nice hotel that would probably receive better reviews if it wasn't expected to be such a nice hotel. Valet was very busy when I arrived, but were super helpful afterward. The lobby is very pretty with some fun pops of color to go with a pendant chandelier and wood accents. The elevators don't notify you which floor you're on so you have to look outside of the elevator.

A very pleasant overnight stay to see a concert round the bend, The Anthem. Check in was super efficient and accommodating. Alger(?) was very professional, informing us of the complimentary pre dinner drinks; he also gave us a room with a nice view of the wharf. Comfy beds and clean bathroom. Perfect for an afternoon nap after a 3.5 hour drive, to recharge just before I headed out for a show I've never seen before. They had a soft jazz singer in the lobby during dinner time, which I would have gladly enjoyed but I had to go meet my daughter and catch P1Harmony. Outside the hotel, there was a taco place that opened late at night called Surfside. A good alternative for room service. The hotel's breakfast offered excellent home fries and decent orange juice. There was also a coffee buffet that came in handy before our drive home the following day. The hotel is in the heart of the Wharf surrounded by so many restaurants. Parking was conveniently located just across the hotel entrance. The irony was we were in DC last Easter in another IHG hotel and we could have stayed here instead.

Excellent location and views! Great service! Walking distance to great restaurants and close to attractions! We enjoyed live music at the lobby while having a glass of wine!

The spa experience was amazing - it is tucked away inside of the hotel and has two levels. I had an early week appointment in the morning and there weren't many others in the shared spa areas which made for a very relaxing experience. I had the Zen body experience and throughly enjoyed. I also experienced the dry sauna and vitality pool which was very clean and relaxing. The staff frequently cleans the areas and removes towels, etc to keep the areas clean. It was easy to check in and the staff was courteous and honored my AMEX benefits which was nice. I stayed in a king bedroom with waterfront view (upgraded through my AMEX benefits) and the room was bright, airy, and clean. There is 24 hour room service and I ordered a late night pizza and it was delivered within 30 minutes. The water pressure in the bathroom was good in both the shower and tub and the water gets very hot (which I personally enjoy). I did also utilize the gym (new gym equipment and all the machines and accessories for various types of movement and activity) and indoor pool area. The only thing taking away from my experience was the amount of younger guests during my stay (which I know cannot be controlled) however lounging in the pool area was not as relaxing and during breakfast there were younger guests open mouthed coughing in the buffet line and touching the utensils so there were just some food items I did not feel comfortable eating. Overall I had a great stay and would definitely stay again, recommend for out of town guests, or to visit for the spa experience alone. Valet was $86 to park overnight as of 4/7 $$$

The Salamander…read moregets all that right, but what made my stay were the little things that quietly say, "someone actually thought about this. Give them a raise!" The lobby soundtrack casually bouncing from Chaka Khan to Aaliyah to Frank Ocean like it's my own curated Spotify playlist. Lighted closet bar racks so you can actually see what you packed. A phone holder next to the magnifying mirror in the bathroom (genius for getting-ready multitasking). Bedside light controls so you're not playing gymnastics to turn off the lamp. Then there's Matthew, the bartender, who improvised a "Matthew Cunningham Special" for me that I think included tequila, ginger beer, grenadine, juice, and somehow made it taste like vacation in a glass. The bell staff and front desk were the kind of friendly that feels genuine, not scripted. Add in cozy slippers, a Nespresso machine, a separate soaking tub, and beautiful DC artwork that reminds you how lucky we are to have this city... and suddenly it's the small details doing the heavy lifting. Luxury isn't always loud. Sometimes it's just really, really thoughtful. And after reading Sheila Johnson's book, I left not just impressed with the hotel, but proud of the woman behind it.

That jetted tub was supposed to earn its keep. The room: genuinely beautiful. The technology: aggressively dated. The vibe: a 90s time capsule, complete with missing doorknobs. There was effort here, but it felt like the hotel was holding its breath, afraid any real investment might trigger the next recession. What they got right: The bellhops were fantastic. Warm, personable, fun. Truly the highlight. Most staff we interacted with were polite and willing to help, which made the gaps elsewhere even more confusing. What they got wrong (beyond the dated room and tech): For a hotel that loudly advertises luxury service, the customer experience fell flat. Outside of the arrival bowl of fruit, nothing felt elevated. Night two, we ordered pizza and planned a cozy Home Alone movie night. The technology made streaming impossible. Fine, cable it is. We called the concierge and asked for two plates. Just two. The answer was a flat no. We were told to walk down to the lobby restaurant and see if they might have plates "to spare." I'm sorry, what? The next morning, room service arrived... with someone else's order. It was corrected, but for a luxury hotel, that kind of miss is surprising. Housekeeping came through, but only halfway. The coffee and minibar were never restocked. In a suite. At a luxury hotel. This is table stakes. At 9:30 PM we stopped by the lobby circle bar. It was immediately clear the bartenders did not want to be there. I get it, service work is hard. Still, opening our interaction by warning us about last call at 11 set a strange tone. By 10:00, one bartender disappeared for 45 minutes. No refills. No check-in. No bill. Breaks are important. Coverage is also important, especially when you're selling a premium experience. Beyond the bellhops, much of the staff felt irritated to be present. Front desk to concierge, the energy was less "historic luxury hotel" and more "counting down the minutes." The hotel was also clearly prioritizing weekend tea and brunch revenue, to the point that the historic lobby was clogged with extra tables and largely unusable for actual hotel guests. Bottom line: this was not a luxury experience, and I would not recommend it. I'm only posting this publicly because I reached out directly to hotel management and never received a response. At that point, a review feels necessary.

Karim at the front door started off the experience, all smiles and never let me open my own door. The hotel itself is immaculate, very beautifully decorated and very well located. The staff at Estuary absolutely stole the show though, we must say. We are a family of 4 and were celebrating my daughters 8th birthday trip. From the second we met Asia and Shawnae at the host stand we were made to feel like family! Their warmth, love for the children and willingness to do anything to make their stay enjoyable was so genuine and greatly appreciated! Asia in particular went above in beyond any way she possibly could. She spent time with us, offered suggestions, and left us feeling like we have family here at the Conrad. Cory and Will made great drinks, always smiled, always remembered us and for that we are thankful. At breakfast we had the team of Kevin and Sandra and they also were amazing. Very attentive, did anything they could to make the kids smile, the service was always on point. Crystal at the front desk came up to the room and decorated for our daughters birthday, brought her a gift bag and absolutely made her feel special on her special day! In totality, we came with no expectations and left with every one of them being exceeded! This Conrad is amazing, the best one we've stayed at and honestly a hotel is only as good as the people that make it what it is. He ordered his meals, sat comfortably, enjoyed his time, and never once felt awkward or out of place. The staff made sure he had what he needed, checked in on him naturally, and created an environment where he felt completely at ease. As a parent, that level of care is something you never forget. For me, the experience was just as special. Corey, the bartender, was exceptional. Each evening, he made sure I had exactly what I wanted, when I wanted it, and engaged in thoughtful, easy conversation that made the space feel welcoming and safe. It wasn't just service--it was connection, and it made a long, tiring trip feel restorative. This hotel doesn't just deliver luxury--it delivers humanity.
