I planned a weekend get away for my best friends bachelorette. Overall the trip was wonderful due to the activities we did but I have stayed at numerous other InterContinental's before and by far this is the worst intercontinental I have stayed at. I booked the rooms based on the pictures on Priceline and their website. Which was very misleading. The picture of the bathroom definitely not what I got. The picture online shows an updated beautiful bathroom which what we got (for 4girls to share) was a small outdated bathroom that didn't look that clean and can't fit two people standing in there. I called front desk to inquire about it and they told me I was mistaken and all their bathrooms are like that. On top of that it looked like it wasn't very clean, the water doesn't drain in the sink and ends up pooling in the sink. I stood there for a few min pulling and pushing the drain to see if it was pulled up but it wasn't. My friend said she feels like she's going to catch something in the shower Bc it looked dirty and moldy. Here's the kicker... the first night house keeping didn't even bother cleaning our room. Second night they took half the towels away and only emptied out one trash can but left the other full trash can in the room and they did not replen our toiletries. So to make it clear we wanted them to take the towels we put all the ones we want them to take on the floor by the door and put the trash cans by the door area too. When we requested 4 sets of towels they sent us two bath towels for 4 girls. So I had to re-request the towels. Third night house cleaning took all the towels and trash but did not give us any new towels again or toiletries. So I had to call housekeeping again to let them know we didn't get any towels. I requested toiletries and had to tell them we didn't get any and we don't have enough for 4 girls to shower. I felt like I had to do their jobs for them. On top of that the bathroom didn't looked like it was cleaned throughout our stay. That put a damper on our weekend. The funny thing is u need to have your room key to get towels out of the towel storage, and there was a sign that said they will charge you $20 per towel if you don't return it by End of day. How were they going to track if you returned the towels each day or not. I asked the staff and they said only if they find it in your room will you be charged. The pro about the hotel- front door staff was very friendly and awesome, restaurant waitress was great! The grounds are beautiful but the bathrooms definitely need updating and housekeeping needs to do their job.

The Intercontinental is a beautiful hotel in a convenient location (10 minute drive from the airport). The hotel experience itself was average. Some pros and cons: Pros: * Outdoor Pool Area: awesome pool and hot tub open 24 hours. A pool bar allows u to be in the pool and order drinks at the same time. * Beach: also open 24 hours. Free chairs from dawn to dusk (umbrellas are 10$ a day). The water is the best I've ever been in! Beachside restaurant/bar and lots of locals walking up and down the beach selling empanadas or homemade sorbet. *Staff: most of the staff was very polite and accommodating. Room service was good. * Room: I know some people in other reviews complained about the decor of the room but I thought it was very appropriate for being in San Juan. Cons: * WiFi: hands down the worst WiFi of all time. Nowhere in the hotel was it consistent. Constantly went out or just didn't connect at all. * No Fridge in room: we liked to go out to eat most nights to try different Puerto Rican food. We would love to have been able to bring that food back but we weren't able to because there is no fridge. Instead there is a preloaded "mini bar" with sensors in them. If you take a soda out you're charged something absurd. Same with the candy and chips. Don't touch any of these items or your room will be charged. * Balcony: our view of the ocean from our room on the 15th floor was amazing, but the balcony is way too small. There are no chairs or tables on the balcony for you to be able to sit and relax while enjoying the view. * Bathroom: way too small. I've been in hotels for the same price and got a bathroom 3x the size of the one we got. The water in the shower never gets hot enough. * Taxis: DONT TAKE TAXIS! They're a complete ripoff. You will pay 25$ or more one way to a location 10-20 minutes away. We used Uber for all of our trips and had no problems whatsoever. You will have to meet the uber a block away from the hotel as they have blocked uber from picking you up directly at the front doors. This last note isn't really a con but I had to mention it because it's funny. The outdoor pool and beach area allows you to rent towels from a machine called the "towel tracker". You swipe your room key and it opens a door to clean towels. The sign says all towels unreturned by midnight will incur a 20$ room charge. However to return your towels all you do is drop them into a large laundry bin. I thought it was odd you didn't have to swipe your card again to return the towels, so I asked several of the employees how they know which towels are from which people. And they all told me with a straight face that every towel contains an electronic chip in them and that's how they track them. LOL! I guess they fool a lot of people with that line since I never saw towels from anyone left near the pool or beach. Overall the experience in San Juan was amazing but largely because of the places we visited and the incredible waters we were able to enjoy. The hotel stay itself was average.

I've always wanted to stay at an Intercontinental, so why not in PR?? The facility was beautiful!!! You never have to leave the resort seriously. They offer 3 restaurants, a pool & Jacuzzi with swim up bars, they have a private beach. The pool & beach area were open 24/7 for our use. This was the best part of my trip! We'd party all night and then hop in the water late about 3am. The staff was mostly friendly. My only complaint is that the rooms need to be updated. For the expensive prices they should definitely have modern rooms. They also charge you a deposit of $100 per night, which is pricey in my opinion also.

A little about my trip. This is my second time to PR. First time I stayed at the ritz with my boyfriend which we loved and would have stayed at again but they were sold out. This time I took my mom on her 50th birthday vacation. So I know how other hotels in the area operate and had something to compare to. So let's get right to the chase of the pros and cons of this hotel. PROS: -5 minutes from the airport. -beach, pool, spa and restaurants all located on the property. -In the center of San Juan which allows you to walk to the local hotels, restaurants & souvenir shops. -most staff speak both Spanish and English -HEAD concierge WAS THE BEST- probably the only reason I would consider this hotel as an option again is because of this man. Whatever they are paying him is not enough and he needs to train every single staff person on what customer service is about! - excursions can be booked right on the property and are affordable. -beautiful beach -beautiful pool -beautiful spa -provides beach towels and chairs. -decent bars -beautiful room views -Uber's to most places are between $3-10. PS: you can't take Uber from airport to hotel, you are forced to use local taxi which will cost you near $20. But going back to airport from hotel you can take Uber which will cost about $5. Old San Juan $10, local restaurants and stores $3 and Uber takes no more than 10 mins to arrive (on average I would say it took Uber 3 minutes to arrive). CONS: - poorly trained staff, with exception to the head concierge. I say this because staff (door man, front desk, bartender, housekeeping, maintenance, pool service etc.) only greeted us when they were first spoken to. Meaning that my mother and I had to speak first (hello, good morning, good night) before being spoken to. There was one night my mother and I traveled to the local store for some snacks. We were coming into the hotel with our hands full, not ONE doorman, left their post to help open the door, not one! MIGHT I ADD THAT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICES COST $0 to a business, but helps make people want to come back! - our room had so many minor issues: shower head coming out of the wall. Cracked paint, rusted vents, pulled up carpet, etc.! they put us in a wheel chair accessible room which had no barrier between the shower and bathroom floor which caused water to leak into the entire bathroom every time we showered. Visible warn areas in the room and on balcony. Half way during our trip our phones stopped working and we were without phones for more than a day causing us to use our personal phones to call the front desk. (See pictures). - NO PERSONALIZATION: I called before we arrived to confirm our room and told the staff that this trip was for a birthday. I know many hotels that will put up balloons or a banner that says "happy birthday" or something. Even some hotels will offer something for free. But this hotel didn't do anything. Even something as simple as their front desk staff saying happy birthday would have went A LONG WAY! - last,but, not least and this I didn't weigh too much because it was partly my fault but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth so I will include it in my review: when we first arrived to the hotel the head concierge gave us a 10% off card to use at the property bars, restaurants and spa. Well of course we forgot to bring ours. We had breakfast on the property $54 dollars for 2 person buffet, might I add! Paid $103 per person for a massage. $20 for yoga. Upon check out we asked if a credit could be applied for the 10% coupon we forgot to use at these places. The answer was a sharp NO! There was no I'll try. Not even a "let me see what we can do." Just a simple NO! For such a large establishment I can't imagine that the $28 would've hurt them much. But the impression that was left with me really made a negative impact. Overall, I would consider rebooking the hotel for the view, the beach, the pool, the spa and convenience to local shops. However, I'm not sure my wallet would ever allow me to give this place another try or dollar due to the HORRIBLE customer service and subpar room conditions. Especially since there are other hotels literally right next door. Happy Yelping :)

In a Nutshell: -The Intercontinental has EVERYTHING you want: excellent location, beautiful scenery, a large property w/ plenty of amenities & First-Class customer service. -This elegant hotel is a beachfront property and within walking distance to multiple stores/restaurants. -The oceanview room we stayed in had the basics, nothing real fancy to report. -Make sure you walk out to the back. It's very large and has a pool/ping pong area, an outdoor bar, big jacuzzi, creative swimming pool, towels, a Mediterranean Restaurant and several lounge areas playing music through outdoor speakers. -The bar in the main lobby has IPA on draft for you craft beer heads. -If you use Uber, please make sure you request AWAY from the hotel as their is some tension w/ the taxi companies. Overall, this hotel is recommended and I plan on coming back to stay again.

This has had to be the best trip I have experienced which most of it was because of the amazing hospitality from everyone here. Before I even arrived I had been in contact with Nestor, we were celebrating 6 years of marriage and wanted everything to be perfect. He had advised me he would decorate the room with roses and balloons, I was content with that. After speaking with him further he upgraded us to an ocean view room, which really made the trip, the views from the room are breathtaking! Checking in was my only gripe but it still didn't ruin anything. We quickly realized it may be a while, the hotel took out luggage and we decided to explore Isla Verde to find something to eat, we ended up at Mi Casita across the street, amazing food FYI (see my review). While we were getting food someone called us to advise us the room was ready and that they food us a fridge (there is only the mini bar fridge). The room itself was up to my standards, I expected worse from reviews I read but it was very comfy and clean. As mentioned the bathroom is a bit small but the fact there is a little vanity area outside the bathroom was perfect for getting ready. I mean you don't go on vacation to spend time in the bathroom anyway. The room was nice and spacious, plenty of room and there is a nice sitting area. Can I just say that I slept like a baby, the beds were AMAZING! The concierge was magnificent, I don't think I ever touched anything my entire stayed. Our room was cleaned daily without having to ask, there was a situation where a guest forgot to turn off their alarm so it was going on for awhile, I called the front desk and they took care of it immediately. Again, Nestor is wonderful, he helped us with taking the bus to get to places like Old San Juan and Casa Bacardi. The bus is a must, it is extremely safe and cost cents to travel verses $40 plus dollars to travel by cab. There are so many things to do here that you will never be bored, we loved the beach, there were tons of people but it was never crowded, there were also seats designated for the guests of the hotel. I will say the hot tub and pool area seems to get the large crowds, we went swimming at night, it was absolutely beautiful! The staff here made our trip one we will never forget, we are already planning on coming back next year as that's how amazing our trip was. I will say there is a $100 night incidental fee, it was never mentioned anywhere but I was aware from other reviews, just wanted to give someone else the heads up!

Loved the location and proximity to the airport, right on the beach. Wonderful pool area that is open late at night. Nice lobby and dated, but comfortable rooms that were spacious. Friday night, music blared from the pool area until 130am! Asked if it was going to be quieter on Saturday night and was assured that there would be no music. Total BS!!!! Music beat its way up to my 12th floor room from 9p-1105p. The only saving grace was that it mostly consisted of 80s music and fortunately, I didn't go to bed until 1130. But it was infuriating! Some staff were great, but most were just OK. Loved the ocean view. The 3way lamps were annoying, as one must click every thing 3 times, and in 2 lamps, there were only 1way bulbs! There was no facial tissue in any of our rooms! I asked for some, none ever arrived. They wanted us to wear annoying plastic wrist bands to access the pool area and amenities. I refused to wear the band until I need to actually use them, no way I was going to sleep and shower with that damned thing on. There was no issue in getting a wrist band the evening I used the beach and pool area, but no one ever seemed to check that I had one on. Clever use of chip technology for the pool towels. Use your key to access towels, take what you need. When you are done, return them and the chip records the transaction. They charge for unaccounted for towels. ($20) Towels were clean and smelled good. Large Jacuzzi and pool with a few bars for drinks and eats. The beach was fairly clean, the water was nice. Small balcony-no chairs, sliding glass door. No fridge or microwave, but it did have a locked mini bar. Decent shower pressure, but annoying, hard plastic shower curtain. Marble and carpet floors. Lots of restaurants nearby, including Walgreens and a small shopping mall. A few blocks away was a larger grocery store.

My family and I traveled to Puerto Rico last week for a family vacation. We originally booked the Marriott in Condado, but after one night there we decided to switch hotels to the Intercontinental to get a more resort-like atmosphere. The hotel is not very lively, and the area of Isla Verde is not great for restaurants and night-life (would recommend Condado if that is what you are looking for), but the pool and beach were absolutely beautiful. We had a very nice time, but honestly the hotel just misses the mark. There was no lobby entertainment and the balconies off the rooms were completely idiotic-with no chairs and barely room for two people to stand. Would recommend if you are looking for a quiet, low-key place and a beautiful pool.

We have always stayed at the Condado Plaza when coming to Puerto Rico, until it was too expensive to stay there and we found intercontinental San Juan. We will always stay here from now on! It is so much better and so much nicer and has a better view and is directly on the beach! Beach chairs and umbrellas are included in the resort fee so you don't have to pay anything extra to enjoy the ocean. And the ocean is incredible. They have a beautiful pool and pool bar ( which I wish was more in the Sun, it is all in the shade). The resort is large enough to where there's always a seat available. They supply towels and even sunscreen! Our favorite part was that there were 2 for 1 mojitos all day everyday. There is a young man who walks around making them for you right in front of you. We had Pedro and he was a blast! Even though I was going on a cruise, I was very sad to leave there. We stayed 2 nights and I could have stayed there all week. Goodbye Condado Plaza, hello intercontinental!

OK this review might be long---but it will be worth reading! Came here in October for our Honeymoon, highly recommended by several co-workers. Stayed for 7 days, 6 nights. PROS: ============= Amazing view- The view from our 15th floor was great. We loved our ocean view room #1524,very nice Decent casino- This casino PAYS OUT! If you like to gamble, this place is for you --it was very small but all of the staff was nice. It appears this might be a "training" casino, due to some of the table dealers seemed relatively new. Not many .25 machines, many penny slots and a few new ones like Tarzan and Walking Dead (stay away from walking dead...doesn't pay out..ever). Staff- Each time I spoke to a staff member, they were very nice. Prior to my visit I emailed to concierge asking for a higher room ocean view, and for early check in. Both of which were taken care of. Our flight got there too early so we hung around a bit, and they called us at 2pm telling us we were good to go. Respectful and very nice staff. Room Service/Food- Great room service with really good food. The tip was also already included (%19) so if you want to tip more, you can. (Get the nachos) They even provided us with free Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries when they learned it was our honeymoon (awesome touch!). CONS: ============= Bathroom- Yikes. Paying for a large room like my king size bed, you would think they would make the bathrooms bigger. They were so small, and there were a few spots in the shower that were not repaired, i.e. cracked tile. Housekeeping- I have never seen worse house keeping in my life. Do not expect your room to be "clean" just look for some new sheets or your bed changed. I even one night did a "Test" and put empty bottles of shampoo on the edge of the bathtub, to see if they would throw them out/give us new ones...nope. I also used their crappy 1 cup coffee maker the first day, and made some hot tea. They never gave me a new cup, i had to call down and ask for one. They then never replenished the hot tea either. This is my biggest complaint of my stay. Swim up bar-Akua bar= Horrendous. We swam up for some drinks and were very hungry and wanted a snack since it was 95 degrees outside. We flagged down a guy that looked like he could care less about us or what we wanted. I asked for a water and a menu, he gave me my water did not ask my husband what he wanted then never came back to take our order. We waited almost 10 minutes. This bar is "divided" where half is in the water, the other half is a regular bar. There appeared to be staff that were only assigned to the regular bar portion, and now the swim up bar--therefore many people went unnoticed, and would end up just leaving like we did. They needed to staff the bar so that one person (at least) is assigned to the swim up area. Early cancellation fee- I guess I was just confused since I was told one thing online via web chat with IHG vs the front desk. Due to an upcoming storm, we were forced to leave a day early since JetBlue emailed us to tell us they might cancel our flight. So we were charged a $100 early day cancellation fee. They told me online they were going to bill me the whole amount of our stay (would have been more money this way) then they told me once I got there that they only bill for the 1st night, then the incidentals charge. Meh- it is not my fault my flight is going to be canceled. Elevators- The middle elevator out of the 3 was broken the entire time we were there. The wait times (trust me, I would have just walked if I was not 15 flights up) were crazy. There were crews working on them the entire time we were there, but how long could it take to fix? Smoking- There was some idiot who was smoking outside of their room ($250 fine) and nothing was done about it. I am allergic to cig smoke..I just prefer it NOT come into my room while we listen to the waves. ***The end: Overall, I really loved our stay and found the entire experience to be great. There were a few bad times/negative experiences with staff (breakfast waiter but this only happened once), but we were treated very nicely and had a great time taking their casino home and buying some new stuff for our house. We would definitely stay here again since my CONS are not that bad. I loved the service and the water each day by the pool was always served cold with a different type of fruit inside, yummy!! What an amazing hotel. I've stayed at a ton of Intercontinental properties around the world and this was one of the best. I was given an ocean view suite, which was beautiful. Recently renovated, it had a separate living room, bedroom, and two balconies overlooking the ocean. The views and sounds from the room were breathtaking. It's so nice to be able to wake up, roll over, and be looking at the ocean. The housekeeping did an excellent job each day too. The hotel property is immaculate. There are several onsite restaurants and bars, including the swim-up bar at the pool, and the beachside cafe. The resort has a huge lagoon style pool with a hot tub as well. Drinks are a little bit expensive at the pool ($9-11) but what would you expect. The beach is very nice, and there is an attendant that will set up some chairs for you. The casino is very small, with only 2 blackjack tables, one roulette table, and some slots. To drive to Old San Juan will take you about 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. It's definitely worth a visit though. This hotel is definitely one of the three nicest hotels in the area, and definitely worth consideration. I mean, just look at the pictures!

This place was decent, the environment was beautiful and the private beach and pool was very relaxing. The only thing that could've been better was the staff. (Front desk, and room service) Maritsa in room service was horribly rude when ordering room service. Make sure if you go for a birthday you call for your complimentary cake because they will not offer it on their own. read more

We stayed here for one night, on the last day of our trip, and we did not regret it! This hotel is gorgeous and has a very hip and modem vibe. The casino was not as good as the one next door at the El San Juan, but we still had a good time there. I will definitely return to this hotel next time I'm home in Puerto Rico! read more

This was my first stay at the Intercontinental. It exceeded my expectations. The staff were helpful and friendly. This was a 'Girls Trip' to celebrate my friend's birthday. We were being silly and I have to give kudos to the security guard. He checked in on us (perhaps to make sure we were behaving?) LOL. His name was Carlos Vargas. Thank you for watching out for us. You and the rest of the staff were personable, as well as professional. read more

Booked reservation through IHG website for stay at IC San Juan (5961 Isla Verde) May 28 - Jun 2, 2017). 1-Website stated hotel had a casino - it doesn't. 2-Website stated room included a refrigerator - it does kind of. (During check in I was advised the refrigerator was actually a mini-bar fridge with charges for stocked items therein and there is a onetime $15 restocking fee if we pulled out any items and used it as a regular fridge. Even though it's not even big enough to accommodate a "take-out box".) 3- Notice on reservation confirmation indicated the total is an estimate and there may be some additional local charges. (Found out during check out those charges are about $60 extra per day; resort fee, shelter in storm fee, etc) 4-As an IHG member I requested and was granted a 2 pm check in. Arrived at hotel and after standing in line for 20 minutes was told no ocean view rooms were ready for check in and likely wouldn't be available until after 4 pm. However, we could check in now (so we did) and pick up the room keys later - we would receive a call between now and 4 pm to let us know when our room becomes available. Went for a walk and returned to hotel at 4 pm not having received a phone call. Noticed folks in check in line were being processed and given room keys - probably folks with different category room. Decided to call reception desk to get an update. Was told our room was ready an hour ago. I asked why we didn't receive the phone call and the lady stated she didn't know. I was instructed to go directly to the IHG members counter to pick up my keys. Went to the IHG counter and was told to go to the back of the reservation check in line to be processed. Stated I had already checked in and just needed my room keys. Was told it doesn't work that way and I needed to be checked in now that a room is available. Waited in line another 20 minutes to be "checked in" again which consisted of me being handed room keys! Really?!?! 5-Some additional issues: our non-smoking room was outdated and smelled of smoke & mold. A prominent musty odor in hallways. No room service menu in room, TV would go blank intermittently and stay out until power recycled several times - yes, checked all cables/connections, no help. Toilet dripped, bath tub faucet dripped, no towels after housekeeping on one day, coffee maker was broken, several patches in walls, had to wear wrist bands to use the beach facilities, beach umbrellas are $10 per day. 6-Porters were very courteous and provided helpful information. Bar/restaurant staff was friendly and provided timely service. 7-Overall very disappointed in this hotel and all things considered it's likely that corporate is not supporting this property to the level of other IHG properties. Other than the reservation desk most issues are with the failing infrastructure of the non-common areas. The entry and courtyard/pool area are well designed and maintained and the landscaping is particularly inviting. Weighing all factors we will not return to this property and can't recommend staying here. There are too many other nearby options in this price point that return more value for your money. read more

Had a fantastic stay here. The staff are absolutely lovely and the beach and pool are fantastic. The decor can use some updating and they are scheduled to begin renovating rooms this month. With that said the rooms are still nice and big with balconies over looking the ocean or the lagoon. We had dinner at ALFREDO'S RESTAURANT and it was absolutely terrific the pasta is fresh and made in house. The pool is great with a grotto waterfalls and a swim up bar. The beach bar cafe is also great you can sit and have pizza and ice cold beverages right on the beach super fun. Had a great time would stay here again. read more

They were doing construction in an adjacent room to the one I was in. After working a long day before I booked this place because I knew it would be comfortable and quiet. I was awoken to drilling concrete. I had pizza at the bar last night that was served cold. read more

I had an amazing time at the Intercontinental. The hotel was great, the location is perfect, close to the airport, close to restaurants and is right on the beach but the best thing about the hotel are the employees. Rosa (front desk) was amazing, so friendly and nice. I can't remember the name of the other employee, but he was working on the lobby on 11/25/18 around 5pm and he helped us get some cups and later he referred a place for us to go have dinner. SCG Came here August 25 2016 ....,with my daughter to see Puerto Rico ...and this is what i got ... The worst hotel ever will never recommend nor will I ever come back here the furniture is old the closet doors have holes ... And most of all the customer service is lousy .. It's very difficult for me to provide a solid rating of the Intercontinental San Juan. On one hand, the way that my reservation was handled by the staff was one of the worst experiences that I have even encountered, period. On the other hand, the way that the hotel staff made up for the mistakes by providing top-notch hospitality and support showed the willingness to make amends. Don't me wrong: my lady and I enjoyed our stay at the Intercontinental, but we are skeptical on whether or not a return visit is in order. Let's get to the highlights, or positives. I want to back Prof L's statement about Salsa Night on Fridays; this is the spot that you want to be if you enjoy the delight of Salsa, Bachata, and Meringue. If I remember correctly, there is a $20 fee, but you receive two drink tickets to get a limited drink selection. The next highlight was our hotel room. Due to the complications encountered in the beginning of our stay, we were upgraded to an Ocean View Suite. There were no problems encountered with the room throughout our 5 day, 4 night visit. The only time we obtained food here was for breakfast. Honestly, the food was good, especially those omelettes. If I am back in San Juan, I will more than likely stay at another hotel first before coming to San Juan Intercontinental, but I will not be writing off this hotel entirely. 3.5 stars. read more

I do not understand why you would staff ONE Person at the concierge's desk on a Sunday at noon when it's check out time. It's a HUGE inconvenience to all of your guest. Get it together! I've spent ONE hour waiting to check out. Also your app sucks and you're not able to checkout using the app. read more

Took a trip in Dec 2007 to the intercontinental in San Juan. I had a great trip !! slightly expensive , but worth the cost. Hotel is on the beach. Swim up bar was cool - nothing too special but something different. Pool was clean and hot tub was good too. I found if you go later in the evening the pool area is nearly empty. I also liked that they had bathrooms around the pool area. These were clean and useful if you spent a day at the beach or pool. - You didn't have to troop all the way to the hotel room. Seemed like a family friendly resort. They had board games that could be used around the pool. There was a lot of seaweed on the beach,but i walked along the beach and other hotels had seaweed too. I just got a standard room, but it was in great condition. Everything was clean and in excellent condition. Room didn't have a hair dryer,but once I called the front desk they brought one up in minutes. I ordered Room service and prices were fair. I was disappointed with the size of the casino. I didn't play, but it seemed very small. It was much more convenient to use the valet parking if you don't mind the additional cost. It was nice having a car ( rented from Hertz at the airport) but it wasn't necessary. I only wanted to drive to the rainforest. ( the hotel had a rainforest package for $50 per person which included transportation -i didn't take this , but it would have been another alternative.) There are a bunch of stores and restaurant with in walking distance of the hotel - some nearly across the street. The shops I can remember were Wallgreens, a supermarket, couple of souviner shops that sold beach wear , Dunkin Donuts,Subway (sandwiches) etc. So a car is definitely not necessary. If i go again i wouldn't get a car. Hotel is like 7 minute drive from airport . This was a great trip I would definitely recommend this hotel ! read more

Beautiful resort. The food is very pricey and you can just walk down the street to a great little cafe and pay half that price. It is not in the ideal location but near many fast food restaurants and section 8 housing. The pool area is nice and they have a swim up bar as well. Rooms are decent, but they could use some updating especially the balconies. read more

Very nice hotel in a very good location, right next to the beach and airport is minutes away too. $10 taxi ride.. Interior is very modern, right on Isla Verde and walking distance to lots of restaurants and other hotels. My husband and I just got back from our long weekend in Puerto Rico. It was our first time to Puerto Rico & we booked through CheapCaribbean.com. We picked the Intercontinental Resort & Casino-- and we are So Happy with our decision! The moment we arrived the door men were awesome! They took our bags- & took them directly to our room. As we checked in the very sweet girl- said Happy Anniversary & upgraded us!! She gave us access to the Club Room, which provides snacks & drinks (happy hour 5-7pm). The food in the club room was delicious-- I loved the Truffle Perfume on my bread. Felix Garcia works in the club room--- he's the best & you can tell he Loves his job! When we got to our room- the hotel surprised us with a bottle of champagne & chocolates. The room was nice-- we didn't send too much time in the room. The pool is gorgeous! Breath-taking actually! We Loved Mara- she is at the mojito cart. You get 2 for 1 if you buy your mojito from the mojito cart. The prices everywhere were reasonable. But the breakfast buffet was pricy ($30 a person). The magnets in the shop are really cheap, but suntan lotion is expensive. The beach is one of the cleanest beaches I've seen! The construction didn't bother us At All-- we didn't realize there was any construction until the day we were leaving (I saw someone wearing a construction hat). We will definitely be back! My husband and I checked in on a Friday afternoon. We were pleased with the decor and upkeep of the grounds as we explored as we waited for our room to be ready. When we got to the room we were disappointed because the rooms were not kept up the way the rest of the hotel was. After unpacking we went to the pool area and was disappointed again. They advertised a swim up bar which didn't look like it's been used in months and that area of the pool was dirty just collecting leaves and debris. We then walked around to the bar outside the pool and got drinks which tasted great but there was hardly any alcohol and for 12$ a pop definitely not worth it. So we paid 12$ for juice. So after a few juices we went back to the room to get ready for dinner. Also the pool area was swamped with kids because there were proms going on. When we returned from dinner the place was a madhouse because of the proms. A worker told us there were 5 proms going on. We went to our room to go to bed since we were up so early from traveling the whole day. But we got woken up numerous times from the drunken prom guests making noise and banging doors. My husband went down to complain to the front desk around 7am because doors were still slamming. Now I was young and understand the kids were just having fun. But the manager Irene lied to our faces saying the prom kids were checking out that day. Not offering anything for our sleepless night. Not even I'm sorry. Just shrugged her shoulders and said they got a lot of complaints. So we figured it wouldn't happen again and let it go and went by the pool again. Which we were surrounded again by teens everywhere taking over the whole pool. So we just went back to the room to hang out thinking the kids would be gone by that night. Which brings me to the balcony which is pointless because only one person can stand on it at a time. Couldn't even relax up there. So we come back from dinner around 10 and are surprised to see yet MORE PROMS going on. Irene LIED to our faces. We were livid and just tried to go to sleep but again got woken up by drunk prom goers. Why can't they keep them all together in a section of the hotel where they can't annoy people?? So after another annoying night we woke up and called delta vacations and had them move us to another hotel. Now it wasn't totally because of the noise... the front desk/managers did NOTHING to fix the situation. As we were checking out the manager actually told us that.. they don't offer anything until the guests say they want to leave!! And throughout this whole time our room was NOT CLEANED once. The glass I had a drink from while we were waiting to check in was molding. I guess the hotel was worried about pleasing the prom kids then the guests that were actually paying. Delta vacations set us up at the Marriott stellaris with the casino and we couldn't be happier. They gave us a great upgrade because they heard about our miserable time at the intercontinental. If we ever return to Puerto Rico we would never go back to the intercontinental. read more

It was amazing. We was greeted with very friendly staff. When we checked into the hotel, because we was IHG members were got up graded for free to a high floor with a Ocean View :) . So go the IHG.com and sign up for free. The pictures are really true, it is that beautiful.... A lot of restaurants are in walking distance. Also there's a Casino next door at the El San Juan (anyone can go you don't have to room there.) The food at the hotel can get a little pricey so, go to the market across the street for any bottles of alcohol you want and snacks. Also, buy a case of water you will need it in your room. I stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel in Isla Verde during the first week of April 2011. We just got off a cruise ship and headed straight to the hotel. It's not far from the pier and airport, making cab fare affordable when you are arriving. We stayed two nights and had a great time. It was my first trip to the PR and the Intercontinental left a nice impression. Some would say El San Juan is better, but chatting with locals and frequent travelers to Isla Verde, the Intercontinental seems to be the hometown favorite. Make sure to spend as much time as possible in their beautiful pool and try the caipirinhas from Ciao Mediterranean Cafe. I gave this hotel 3 stars and would have given it 4 stars if the gal at the front desk wasn't horribly rude and if the hot tub wasnt ALWAYS cold. We arrived at our check in time and were informed that our room would not be ready for 2 hours past check in. We were so tired from traveling 10 hours and just wanted to put our things away. No here have a drink on us or anything... Just a sorry but your room wont be available until 6ISH. A little pricy for basic rooms however very clean and a beautiful atmosphere. Walking distance to the market and to some fun little bars down town. Excellent pool Bartenders... somehow they remember everyone's names and the food on their menu was delicious. We ate at the sushi bar one night and it was so good! I would come back again if rates went down. read more

Very nice hotel with good clean rooms. Took my family here for vacation and was upgraded to an ocean view at no extra charge. The amenities are superb. Great fitness room for those who want to work out and a great pool and beach for those wanting to soak up the sun. We rented a car and used their valet parking. The valets were fantastic and were always quick to retrieve our car. I would stay away from the restaurants as the cost is unreasonable. 4 breakfast buffets with tax and tips was $130. Not worth it at all! Be careful on the beaches as a few people cut their feet severely while swimming there. Not sure what they cut it on but people don't pick up after themselves very well. They try to keep the beach clean but there is a lot of trash, bottle caps, beer bottle / cans, etc.... Not bad but be careful while in the water. The last observation I will make is the area is not the most ideal. There are a few local restaurants but more fast food than not. The area is old, run down and a little suspect after dark. If you like the night life, stay down in Old San Juan. This is the. Invest area with the most to do day and night. read more

The hotel stay was fine. Our bathroom was leaking water so they had to come repair it. However, breakfast was a rip off. It was priced as starting at $8.00. They only had buffet. The buffet had rubber pancakes and waffles. The juices were not fresh. For the price they charged it should have been fresh! We got the bill for two adult and one child. It was around $80! We had better breakfast around the corner for about $5 per person. Food and drink prices were crazy high! read more

This was a terrible experience I came here from NY for a wedding and the worst ever first off the service is terrible!!' The rooms AC was not working to get hair and make up was a drag. Not to mention there cocktail hour was held in the lobby with a waiter passing out Kabobs unexceptionable!!!! Then I'll show you the menu! The drinks no options 3 types he sends me to the bar outside then if you a vegetarian you get no option it's just chicken !!! What!!!!! We stayed here for four nights. Arrived on a Sunday and was discouraged by the massive crowds around the pool and especially the beach. It felt like an all-inclusive place. Come Monday, however, the crowds were gone and made the stay very enjoyable. 3 minute cab ride from airport. No joke. The lobby area is excellent, new clean and polished - impressive. The doormen are awesome. Friendly and helpful. The room was fantastic. We had top floor ocean view. We could have stayed in our room all week, it was that nice. I highly recommend requesting top floors. HUGE pool area, was very popular, but we're more beach people. Beach was great. Water was great. Sand was great. Spent $10 plus tip for a guy to set up two cushioned lounge chairs and an umbrella. Worth every penny. We stayed camped out there for 6 hours without a care in the world. The casino is a bit lackluster. I think they could improve the lighting. It felt more like a bongo parlor. Good enough, though. If we ever do PR again would have no qualms staying here again. Side notes: We ate at Metropol two nights (walking distance). But could've done all four nights. Highly recommended. Took a walk to the Ritz Carlton. Whoa. Maybe in the next life. The beaches on that side are nicer, but it's apples and oranges really. read more

Beautiful hotel. Our room was ocean front with great views- sadly no place to sit on the tiny balcony. Comfortable bed. Slept great the first two nights then we got neighbors. Doors slam very loud, and you could hear the family in the next joining room coughing- so that was annoying. Pool area was great, beach was great. Service at the beach front dinning not so good- the food was ok, it's best to leave the hotel. Good location, as there are things to walk to. With all hotels food and drinks are overpriced- go across the street and buy your own! read more

We were stranded here after Hurricane Irma and stayed while waiting to get a flight out. Wonderful hotel on beach. The Asian Restaurant pricey with so so food. The Bar lunch had some very tough chicken. The beach cafe had wonderful drinks and snacks. Not sure of the condition after Hurricane Maria. Definitely a place I would want to revisit read more

I will get right to the point: Bed bugs, yes I said bed bugs! Room 101 of the Casitas Filthy bathroom, very dated and in disrepair Broken faucet (hot water wasn't working properly) Pool Service was terrible (our waitress stood around talking to other staff) so we ordered our own drinks at the bar They hit you with a resort fee & taxes of 27% at checkout...sneaky We love the common areas, but will not be revisiting unless they do some serious remodeling. This review should reflect 4.5 stars, but since Yelp does not allow for such nuances, and the hotel next door...the El San Juan... really *is* as good as it gets, this review will have to reflect a mere 4 stars. I'm definitely a HUGE fan. I've stayed at this property on Isla Verde beach on more than a dozen occasions for both business and pleasure. I've also made several day-trips here...long ago... when it was the Sands Resort and Casino.* No matter when I have visited, how long I've stayed, or under what corporate ownership this property has been held, I've always had rejuvenating experiences. Below are some of the reasons I recommend staying here. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION The InterContinental is not only located *on* Isla Verde beach, but also on the most convenient and lovely section of it. The beach itself is a two mile long, crescent-shaped beauty with pale sand, gentle tropical breezes, warm water and a rejuvenating vibe that will immediately cause you to relax. I'd like to say that it is the slower pace of Puerto Rico that prompts this, yet I've never experienced this instant feeling of relaxation on the several occasions when I've stayed in El Condado or Old San Juan. If you seek complete relaxation and rejuvenation, Isla Verde is where it can be found. As if relaxation and rejuvenation weren't enough of a selling-point, there are other elements that, when considered as a whole, make it a near perfect destination. Located a mere 5 minutes from Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU), you arrive at the the circular drive of the ICSJ and step into their spacious, elegant lobby, seeing the gorgeous turquoise of the ocean just beyond the expansive tropical pool area and lounging deck. You might assume that, being so close to SJU, there would be considerable airport noise (like the beaches near SXM in St. Martin) or that the scent of jet fuel might hang in the air. This is not the case. I've never seen an airport in the Caribbean, Hawaii, Australia, Florida or California that has such a clean, gorgeous, relaxing tropical beach so convenient to their largest, international airport. If you know of one...anywhere...please PM me. I'd like to check it out. Not only is this property close to SJU, but it is also a 15 minute drive over to Old San Juan. Renting a car isn't requisite. The bus line to Old San Juan stops right in front of the hotel. Taxis are readily available right outside the lobby when you're ready for a night out in El Condado, just ask the valet. Aside from that, I'm generally walking, often by myself. Isla Verde is actually in Carolina and has its own strong police presence to ensure tourist safety. It should go without saying that crime can and does occur everywhere in the world, although I've never had any problems here.** SHOPPING There is enough nearby to keep even the most ardent of label-whores busy. The concierge can direct you to boutiques as well as the Plaza Las Americas. The hotel has its own restaurants, which are quite good, and prices are normative for hotel dining. I've been known to order lunch at Alfredo's and eat outside on the deck. However, one of my favorite Cuban restaurants, Metropol, is just down the road a bit, across the street and to your left, as you exit the hotel. http://www.yelp.com/biz/metropol-restaurante-and-bar-isla-verde As for the casino, gambling bores me. Thus, my comments are worth nothing to you. The spa services I haven't needed. If I felt anymore relaxed while here, I'd be dead. The pool area...gorgeous! If you're a drinker, you will enjoy the swim-up bar where you can also have lunch. TIP: Be sure to listen for the man ringing the bell who walks up and down the beach selling helado de coco or tamarindo. Good stuff! *The winters of '94 & '96 each had over 15 nor'easter storms dumping feet of snow on NYC...a day trip to San Juan may sound extravagant but was MORE than worth every penny to escape the months of unending urban-blizzard misery. This hotel made it VERY doable in a day from JFK. **I had a frightening experience with an NFL player that was a guest at the hotel. Although I completely ignored him while fans swarmed him for autographs, this MVP Super Bowl champ followed me from the pool to my room and nearly pounded my door down while I called hotel security. Thankfully, a guest next door to my room heard the commotion and slipped a note under the door that adjoined our rooms, stating that I could stay in his room while he went to get security. Hotel security was just as scared of the angry linebacker as I was and did little to help. (sheesh...pros don't get enough girls throwing panties at them? they want the one who could care less how many Superbowls they've won...go figure.) read more

As far as I can tell, this place is run by scam artists. Not sure why Intercontinental chose to hire grifters to run this particular hotel, but their attitude and out right transparency in trying to scam guests makes it seem like they get to run the hotel anyway they want with impunity from any sort of corporate oversight. Problems started almost the second I made the reservation. I booked two rooms for a party of eight, four months in advance. All of this was clearly communicated through the booking.com website and is shown as so on every piece of correspondence. Despite this, Intercontinental decided to over charge me from what was clearly written on the invoice by about $700. After some communication, it seemed intercontinental wanted to charge me an extra $700 for the 2 extra guests in each room - although this extra charge was not detailed in the invoice that clearly shows 8 occupants, not communicated to me before or after the charge ( it took me noticing the discrepancy on my credit card bill and calling them to figure out what was going on ), and were completely unapologetic for the confusion. It took dozens of emails, phone calls, bank statements, credit card statements, faxes, email attachments over 2 months to get this cleared up. The amount of documentation they requested to process the refund was asinine. They wanted proof that I had been overcharged AND proof that they didn't already refund me by looking at my statements from the day I was originally charged from the reservation. Not once did they try to reach out to me to resolve the situation. I had to call or email them every time to find out they wanted yet another piece of documentation. In the end, Intercontinental refused to honor the original invoice. Booking.com had to step up to resolve the situation by covering the difference between the invoice and what was actually charged. This is an important detail. As far as Intercontinental is concerned, they received the full fee including the bogus $700 additional occupant fee. Now, here comes the good part. When the 8 of us showed up at the hotel, they insisted my reservation was for 2 people in one room. Is my string of emails discussing the previous disagreement good enough? No. Is the fact that my credit card was billed to them for the full amount and clearly not the one room enough? No. Is the original invoice showing all the details good enough? No. Is my confirmation number good enough? No. So how should this situation be resolved? Obviously by booking another room with them right then and there for $1000 / night instead of the $200 / night rate that was reserved 4 months in advance. The staff there could not have cared less about the situation. They just nonchalantly informed me to book another room. According to them, any discrepancy in the reservation is booking.com's fault and has nothing to do with them. Can all of this be a coincidence and not a scam? I don't think so. During this process we were bounced around to a couple of different employees in the lobby. One of which did find our reservation for the second room and told us so while the other employee was busy with another customer. After a quick conversation in Spanish with the original employee, he could no longer find the reservation and that we would have to talk to their "reservations manager". We spent the next 3 hours on the phone with booking.com and this "reservation manager" (Her name was Perla, not sure if that is really her job at the hotel or just another random con-artist they use to run this scam) Apparently all of the documentation booking.com tried to provide via 5 different faxes was "illegible" although we weren't allowed to see the faxes. Emailed attachments of the same were first "unreceivable" because there was no "externet" even though there was free wi-fi available in the lobby which worked fine for our phones. The emailed pdf attachments were then later changed to be "un-openable". They wanted us to again, provide an asinine level of documentation. They wanted not only receipts, but wanted us to provide what the daily room rate was and break it down for all the related fees and taxes. It was like they were confusing us for their accountants. None of the documentation we had available on our own phones was good enough. After 3 hours of arguing, the hotel "staff" broke down and simply said they would not be able to accommodate an extra room for us, probably because they figured the scam had run its course. They did repeatedly offer to find us a room if we were willing to pay them $1000 / night throughout this whole ordeal. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from the Intercontinental as you can. read more

no way. seriously? how does anyone love the san juan intercontinental? unless all of san juan is jankier than this, which is a little terrifying. A room here will run you between 300-350$. For that, you get: a towel rack collapsing on you in the shower, a broken TV, motherfuckers slamming doors up and down the hallway all night long, a bug-eyed bluelit casino, the weirdest and most random pieces of american humanity, and some undefinable echelon of dining. You have to get a wristband for the pool? uh, ok. What's up, big plastic playground? We had one just like it in the trailer park I lived in when I was little. The Ciao Mediterranean grill on the beach is a nice touch. I did enjoy my curly fries and pina colada. And my bed was very comfortable. Too bad that was where I wanted to stay for my entire visit given the shittiness of everything else. Maybe it's the hotel. Maybe it's San Juan in general. My advice: go to Vieques. read more

First, let me say that the 3 stars is for overall experience. The staff in general was excellent with the EXCEPTION of the front desk (the women there were AWFUL!!). Nestor Colon at the concierge was amazing. He truly made our vacation a memorable one. He pulled some last minute strings to make sure we got to see the bioluminescent bay and zip lining during our last two days. He even checked in on us and helped us book the tours when he wasn't working! He literally stopped us at the lobby and made phone calls on his day off for us; he really is a wonderful asset to the hotel. AND he did it without the price hike that you normally see when the hotel staff book events for guests (our kayak tour was actually cheaper than what was posted on the internet site!). The other staff were also very friendly and attentive, from the front door staff, the bellhop, restaurant employees, and valet. They were all very helpful and you never passed one without a greeting. The hotel does a great job selecting these people. As I said before, the exception are the horrible women working at the front desk and tours/activities desk (to the left of the front desk). No smiles, very poor explanations of amenities, and overall dismissive in attitude. When we checked in, the young women helping us (one heavy set late 20's with a round face and another slimmer lady of the same age with dark shoulder length hair, both working on 5/4/13 at 7pm) were just awful. No smiles and annoyed demeanors. We had a party of 6 with 3 rooms and although all booked on the same reservation, we all ended up on different floors. When we asked if we can switch to rooms on at least the same floor, we were told "there's no rooms available" in a curt manner. Overall, the experience with them was extremely poor. The older woman (mid 50's? with very short cropped, blond/frosted hair and glasses) at the tours/activities desk was also rude. She hardly looked up when we asked for directions and never smiled. We watched her interactions with several guests and she seems to pick and choose who she was friendly and helpful to. If you were middle aged Caucasians, you got good service. Other than that, good luck. Just because our party was younger didn't mean we couldn't afford tours and other amenities... we were ready to book quite a few events but she literally made us turn elsewhere for service because of her demeanor. Thank goodness Nestor was there. The Intercontinental needs to reevaluate their front desk staff OR conduct MAJOR training sessions for them. The rooms here were standard with smaller than average bathrooms. The balcony was nice and the beds were comfortable. The walls were extremely thin, though. You can hear neighbors and a lot of the pipes made noises. For some reason, there was always a lot of clanking of the pipes early morning (sounded like they were repairing them and you can hear everything). The water in the shower was also hard to control... once you got the temperature hot, it was hard to cool it down. The other features were okay, standard. The free wifi was nice but also difficult to get... the bathroom was where we got the best signal. The restaurants were good overall. The food was decent but overpriced, but that's expected. The iBar had a special of $9.95 for some dishes which were pretty good. Their happy hour was also very nice. Ruth's Chris is on the property and that was a nice option for us. The beachside restaurant was so-so. The coffee shop has a great cafe latte... very addicting. The pool was pretty nice. Good size and decent amount of seating. The beach is literally feet from the pool and it was nice to have such easy access. The beach was clean and not too crowded. Towels are provided for guests and the pool and jacuzzi were open 24 hours, which was a bonus because of the hot weather. Overall a good experience. The location of the hotel was pretty convenient. It's a $20 ride to Old San Juan and we rented a car to go to zip lining, the Bacardi distillery, and kayaking. Everything was within 1.5 hours away by car so it wasn't too bad. There's a Walgreens and supermarket within walking distance as well as several fast food and sit down restaurants. Overall, the hotel was nice and the staff were great. The only suggestion (STRONG SUGGESTION) to the hotel is to get rid of the front desk/activities/tours staff. These women need to be replaced. These employees alone bring down the overall rating by 2 stars. Demote them and promote some of the guys in the front door/valet... your guests will get much better service. read more

We specifically chose this property because it was one of the few with a true pool bar, which was a big plus for us. That said, like most resorts, the pool area fills up quickly and lounge chairs are usually claimed by around 8am. If you're not an early riser, it's tough to snag one unless you rent a cabana. It wasn't a big issue for us since we spent most of our time in the water anyway. There's also easy access to the beach, which was a nice bonus. I took advantage of the 24-hour gym daily nothing over the top, but definitely enough equipment for a solid vacation workout. I went early, so it was always pretty empty, though it started to pick up around 7-8am. The food was consistently great. We had lunch at the Aqua Bar every day and never had a bad meal. Drinks were also good, though some were stronger than others. I'd recommend skipping the frozen drinks if you're looking for a real buzz they were pretty light on the alcohol. Overall, a great stay, and I'd definitely come back with the kids again.

It definitely gave a classy vibe. The beach and resort grounds are beautiful too, with clean pools and helpful waitstaff. I only wish the rooms had been held to the same standards. My parents' room was ready first, and though we had booked for a king room in the main hotel, we both ended up getting free upgrades to the banyan bungalows due to "high occupancy". We noticed a slight odor when we walked into my parents' room, but shrugged it off, dropped our bags, and went to lunch at the beach club (which was wildly expensive might I add). While we were at lunch, it poured rain, and afterwards we went to the casino and then got the notification that the room for my husband and I was ready. We went to collect our bags that we had dropped in our parents' room, and we were greeted with an intense, undeniable sewage smell. Everyone got headaches just from a few minutes in there. My parents immediately called the front desk to send someone out and ask if they could switch rooms. The head of housekeeping came and was extremely transparent, saying this is a known problem and this room and one other at the end always get a strong sewage smell after it rains. Thankfully, they moved my parents into the poolside villas, but we were disgusted at the fact that they knowingly are putting people in that room despite it being a public health hazard. They also claim that the banyan bungalows are newly renovated, which was wild to us considering the smell and dirty rugs we had in both of our rooms. The poolside villas at least felt newer, however, there was mold on the ceiling above the shower and a musty smell that came through the vents when the air conditioning came on. My mom wasn't feeling well by the end of the trip from breathing it in every night, but no one felt like wanting to switch rooms again. There was little apology from the front desk when my parents switched rooms. Finally when they texted my parents asking how their stay was mid-week and my mom mentioned the inconvenience, they did provide a $100 credit which was appreciated. Our travel agent was appalled, as this was supposed to be one of the nicest resorts in Puerto Rico and she had even called the day before to verify our rooms would be next to each other and exactly as we had booked. Unfortunately, the first impression of our rooms just left a bad taste in our mouth. We tried to make the best of the rest of the trip and ignore the lipstick on a pig vibes that the hotel gave. While checking out, I caught a valet parking fee of $33 that was added on to our tab, which was impossible because we never rented a car and only ubered the entire time. Thankfully, they took it off without a fight. If I come back to Puerto Rico, we likely won't be returning here, which is a shame because we did enjoy the resort and casino itself.

To be honest, this was expensive and more than I would have liked to spend but the hotel was so good it was worth it. You are a block from the beach and they provide beach towels and chairs. We did two beach days near the hotel and it was honestly perfect. The beach is amazing, very blue even though it's in the city. I felt perfectly safe walking around this area. It is technically in a gated community so it is very nice. Right outside the gated area are a bunch of restaurants. The food at dreamcatcher was also very good. They provide free coffee every morning and then pay as you go food from 8am-1pm. Everything I ate was very delicious. The menu changes frequently so if you see something that sounds good, get it! My favorite thing was the tofu huevos rancheros. It was incredible. They serve a dinner on Friday nights that was $65pp but we skipped to try some other things. The courtyard is also very cute, great place to get pictures and sit back and relax. I can't wait to come back. Puerto Rico has my heart!

Again someone else said the same thing. I must checkout. Then I happen to see the midnight supervisor. told him the situation and said it could be done. He would have done it, but he said it has to be after 3am when the days in the system roll over. Of course I went to bed. I went back to the front desk that morning. After waiting 30 minutes for someone to attend, a young lady came. Told her everything, including what the manager said and flatly boldly said "He's wrong, You have to check out." I proceed to check out before noon. As it was getting close to noon, I started receiving text messages about a late checkout for an additional $150. My phone number is working now.I checked out and put my luggage in storage, and was reassured again that I would receive a call as soon as a room was available. About 2 hours after checkin started I returned to the front desk, was given new key bracelets. I stated again, I thought you was going to call me. Her response was a laugh and she stated "Oh I forgot." Now I'm in room 608, which was visibly much smaller. The closet was missing a glass door, And the bed was terrible compared to room 905. The sheet were even stained. Put the do not disturb sign on the door. Lo and behold. Heard a knock. Before I could answer, housekeeping was keying into my room. I asked what was she doing and posted at the sign, She stated "Oh sorry, I didn't see it" I think she was coming to look for something to steal. Also construction is going on. Every early morning guest are awakened by what should and feels like they are jack hammering through the building. There is a terrible smell, like a dead rodent or human down the walkway to. the street. And yes the hotel knows about it. All the employees cover their faces and noses when exiting the building. This is not luxury!

My Husband and I recently stayed at Intercontinental San Juan while on our Honey Moon! We had the pleasure of staying for a whole week in an upgraded ocean view suite! Our view was breath taking, the room was clean and spacious, and this hotel has so much to offer! It is in a great location, walking distance to lots of local restaurants and a 24 hour market across the street. We really enjoyed spending time on the beach and sight seeing across the Island. I have to say that although our stay was amazing and we couldn't have picked a better place for our honeymoon, the front desk staff at the hotel were terrible. They don't smile, they don't make eye contact with you when they speak to you, they don't greet you or make you feel welcome or happy that you are there. We didn't even get a "congrats" when telling them we were checking in for our honeymoon. They really started a bad vibe for the beginning of our stay, and we dreaded having to deal with them any other time through out our stay! The rest of the staff at the hotel, were awesome! They were so friendly and helpful and really made our stay there so much better! William at the front door who didn't only great you with a smile but a friendly conversation,recommendations for traveling and places to see or eat. He really goes above and beyond for the guests at the hotel and we are lucky to have met such a kind and generous friend! The staff at the Cabana handing out towels and the guys on the beach bringing out beach chairs and umbrellas for guest were great too! Also very friendly and happy to answer questions or just chat with my Husband who likes to talk and make friends every where we go! The food and drinks there are a little pricey, but it was all very good! Worth the money! And if you get a drink at the hotel lobby, I highly recommend the Coco Loco!! Soo good!! The last kind of bad thing I have to say is that when we booked online, the site had advertised that you get a free room upgrade, champagne & chocolate covered strawberries for your honeymoon. We did get the room upgrade but no champagne and no chocolate covered strawberries. But that wasn't a huge deal because our room was so great that I had forgotten all about the rest of the upgrade offer until later. Definitely overall I give this hotel and excellent rating! Best vacation ever!!! We are here now at the resort I the 16th floor, the views are breathtaking! The resort is beautiful! The food is a little expensive, but really good! The beach is so nice!!!! Paying the $10 for the beach umbrella each day stings a little, but overall everything is top notch!! We took advantage of the stores across the street, the was a market and great breakfast place. I recently stayed at Intercontinental. The best thing in the hotel is the service of William at the door. Hotel is very clean and lots of space with beautiful artwork in the lobby. The Restaurants were not the best. I miss Momoyama . I would definitely recommend this hotel. Good experience. Even do I was expecting more. read more

I was robbed at gun point after a hotel casino employee called their friend and told them I had won. Please be careful here. It's not a safe place. These people are extremely poor and will not hesitate to take advantage of an unsuspecting tourist and the police are a joke. read more
