WARNING ABOUT LA TERRAZA I am beyond disgusted. I stayed at La Terraza and discovered bed bugs in the bed. Yes, BED BUGS. This is absolutely unacceptable, unsanitary, and shows a complete disregard for guests' health and safety. To make matters even worse, the manager Deborah has avoided reaching out to me for over a month. No acknowledgment, no apology, no resolution. The silence and lack of accountability only add to the outrage. Instead of providing a clean and safe environment, this place exposed me to a nightmare that no guest should ever have to experience. Bed bugs are not only horrifying, they spread quickly, and it's appalling that a business like this is operating without properly addressing such a serious infestation. To anyone considering staying here: think twice. No vacation, no trip, no price is worth risking bringing home bed bugs. La Terraza -- and its management -- should be ashamed and held accountable for allowing such unsafe and unhygienic conditions.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Apparently, no one manages this place. I spent my entire stay trying to speak to someone about my issues and called and emailed for weeks afterward, but every time the manager was unavailable. This place is such a scam; it's much older and more run-down than the photos. You get extremely hot or cold water, with no in-between. The real issue is that the wifi didn't work at all, and I needed it for my business. I had to go somewhere else during my entire stay and work in a café over 100 degrees instead of in my overpriced room. I spoke to someone at the desk every single day, but they could never help me or find anyone who could. It ruined my whole trip and really set me back with work. If I could have just talked to someone about it, that would have been great. I sent them many emails and asked to resolve this before I left a review, but I had no other options and had to WARN PEOPLE NOT TO STAY HERE OR THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY.

Nice boutique hotel. Our room (323) was pretty noisy at night for some reason. Hard to sleep at 3-4 in the morning with an industrial noise outside the bathroom. A window in there kept opening up in the middle of the night from vibrating of some sort. I put a soap container cardboard paper in there to hold it shut. The staff was friendly, but misinformed us of the hours for the bars. He told us they were open from 4-10 each night but they never were. However it was the Christmas holiday season. Perhaps expected. There was a nice rooftop pool. The hotel was clean and nice. Breakfast in the lobby bar was good, but not included. Tasty though. Non guests stopped by to eat. So that says something about it. The room was pretty comfortable though the AC was noisy and had trouble keeping up. It was just hard to sleep with all the noise.

My wife and I came here on our trip to Puerto Rico and this is a very pretty hotel. This hotel is located in Viejo San Juan. You don't have to worry about it being noisy here like some other locations in Viejo San Juan because it's not right next to the strip of restaurants and bars and shops. But don't worry the strip of restaurants and shops are just 2-3 blocks away and there are other restaurants around as well. The hotel has a very pretty antique feel to it. It's within walking distance of the cruise boats, Castillo San Cristobal, Castillo San Felipe, Playa Capitolio and several restaurants and shops. If you come here, you'll definitely enjoy your stay, the staff are very friendly, and they all speak English and Spanish. Unfortunately there's no parking on the street, and they don't have a parking garage, so if you're renting a car, you'll need to park at a garage that is like 3 blocks away, so it's not a long walk, but it does cost $20 a day.

I came here my last night in PR and did some visiting of old San Jaun. They got me in a last minute reservation also (same day). Staff were friendly and so was the owner. Had a couple of drinks at the bar down stairs and the bar on the rooftop. Hotel was beautiful, can't wait to come back!!

This is my favorite location in town. I booked a room for 2 days out of a week stay. I enjoyed the room and the service so much, I decided to stay here for the whole week. The staff are amazing and friendly. They are a smiling genuine bunch. I'd like say thank you to Laura, Francisco, Jay, and Tatiana for making me feel comfortable making sure that every need was taken care of. I will be returning in December and can't wait to see you guys again. Book here, you will not be disappointed.

Visited her during Columbus Day weekend which was also during the pandemic. The hotel was very unique. I completed loved how you entered through the stair case which lead you down into the indoor outdoor patio with a sky view into both the living room and master bedroom. Since the main area is actually located indoor/outdoor the rooms had stand alone ac units which worked just fine. The rooftop bar was closed during our stay due to the pandemic. The rooftop pool was nice but is a very small. We didn't get to enjoy it on our own during our stay. The staff were very accommodating to all of our other needs.

Our whole experience was great. Upon checking in we were offered coffee. I do not drink coffee but Paola the desk clerk talked me into having a cup. It was local coffee, and from a non coffee drinker, it was fantastic. I upgraded our room because this was a special trip for my wife and I and I couldn't have been happier. The room was great. Big comfy bed. Rainfall shower with a detachable shower hose. Double door to the balcony overlooking the street. We enjoyed a drink in the rooftop pool. I will come back to this hotel. One block off the ocean, close to shopping and historic sights.

I had the great opportunity to celebrate my 10th year anniversary in San Juan Puerto Rico and stay at La Terraza de San Juan. The stay started off a little bumpy due the air conditioner breaking down in our two bed room suite, room 5. But the staff did everything in their power to accommodate us and by the following day we were back in the suite and the stay was memorable. The old San Juan community were so welcoming and giving. We fell in love with the hotel and old San Juan. Thank you La Terraza de San Juan for making our 10th year anniversary memorable. Luis

AMAZING! Enough said! We (wife and son) stayed here over night and hopped on a 7 day cruise out of San Juan the next day! We were greeted nicely and were even offered complementary drinks at the reception area while we were getting checked in, son and I had a couple of "medalla" beers and my wife ordered a cocktail! All amazing! Nothing like a nice cold beer right after a 3 hour flight! We also got a tour of the hotel, which apparently has a lot of history, on the way to our room too! Our cruise out of San Juan did not leave until 8 pm so the next morning we left our bags with the receptionist, I had read online that they actually hold your luggage until the time you board your cruise and they did just that and at no extra cost! The receptionist was nice enough to give us a map of Old San Juan and gave us some tips as to what to go and check out so we did just that! And by the way everything was within walking distance, bars, restaurants etc. we even walked to "el morro" We had breakfast at "Carthage Express" and lunch at "Raices" (see my other reviews about these, both were amazing)! Upon returning back to the hotel to pick up our luggage, the receptionist offered to call a cab for us to take us to the port, we waited a few minutes, the cab came and off we were on our way to our seven day caribbean cruise where we had an amazing time! Bottomline: the price was just right for an overnight stay! VERY clean room, the shower and bathroom looked amazing and clean! Friendly and helpful staff! If you are looking to stay right in the middle of San Juan this is the place for you, as everything is within walking distance!

Director of operations this was her take on it maybe they could put the video up they got cameras.

This is my second time staying there a company that flew me down and pay for it . I recommend the place no idea what I was thinking I did not understand the lack of security in that place until a week ago when The place robbed it's the craziest thing I've ever seen the owners tried to tell me it was a scam and then nobody got hurt meanwhile I was the one out there saying that young man look like he was going to have a heart attack. Still never got clarification if they filed a police report.

We stayed for one night in April…read more PRO: -convenient location in old SJ, easy to walk everywhere, great surrounding energy -beautiful hotel, with cute rooftop pool and a lovely AC'ed library you can read or work in -the evening social hour with complimentary rose was a welcome treat CON: -staff was professional and polite, but not warm or friendly (this is a minor point, and admittedly subjective) -shower floor was not guarded against water flowing out, so I ended up wasting two towels mopping up all the water that escaped after a 30 min shower (yes, I closed the door correctly) -our standard 2-bed room was on the smallish side. It's cozy for two guests, but will feel cramped if you have more people. -the worst part: breakfast service was SOOO SLOW!!! No one greeted us on arrival, so we weren't sure if we should sit ourselves (which we did after standing around for a bit). Once we sat down, it took about 10 min to be given our menus. Then it was another 30 min just to get our juice and coffee (and only after I got annoyed and asked). Then probably another 20 min for the food to arrive. Once we were done eating, we waited for 15 min for the check, then I just gave up and went to pay. There was no communication, and we were ignored for ages. They were NOT busy, and looking around, other diners were also waiting a lot and looking annoyed. We usually eat our breakfast in about 40min, but this dragged on for about an hour and a half. We were checking out and flying later that afternoon, so this was a stressful start to the day. I'm glad we stayed here once, as it's beautiful and feels like a big part of old SJ history; plus, you can't beat the location. But personally, I think there's better value at other places.

We are able to walk old San Juan each evening to find a new place for dinner as well as walk up and explore the fort on our first day. We were uneasy 10 minute Uber drive from the hotel over to Isla Verde Beach. (Pro Tip: visit the Walgreens on the first floor and pick up a soft pack cooler, a 12 pack of local beer and a bag of ice for the beach). Breakfast: we had breakfast five mornings on site at the restaurant on premise (Kueros). We sat out on the second floor balcony overlooking the port and enjoyed the buffet, which was ample in selections of breakfast items. Service: if you're like us, you will discover that Services not specialty at most restaurants and bars in old San Juan, Puerto Rico that is not the case at this hotel and restaurant. Our morning breakfast servers to the bar staff all the servers were fantastic.! Room: we had a corner room with a Juliet balcony. The room was wonderfully appointed with an unbelievably comfortable bed. We slept like babies every night with no noise and wonderfully working air condition.! thank you Port: cruise ships dock directly in front of the hotel. During the five days we were there we experienced one day without a cruise ship two days with one cruise ship one day with two cruise ships and one day with three. Jesus Christ, to be honest, the passengers from the boat made old San Juan come alive.! We would highly recommend this location for anyone visiting old town San Jose. It's a perfect place to operate out of. We went to the beach one day. On another day, we drove to the east end of the island and explored the waterfalls and hidden beaches.

Pros: hotel location is the best, walkable to many places,…read moreWalgreens is next door so convenient to grab anything in case, food at Kueros for dinner was delicious. Staffs most of them are friendly, always smile. Cons: unfortunately the service is inconsistent. We had problems here and there during our stay, definitely can improve for better service. Because I highly won't stay here again if we will visit San Juan again. - Late check in, not ready until 6:30pm. We were exhausted especially my toddler. We went for a long walk & explored around to kill some time after keeping suitcases at bellman. Was kind of front desk to offer some food credit to use at Kueros restaurant. But we were ignored for the good 20-30 mins, no one came and asked anything to get order or drinks. Food were delicious so it made up for that slow service. We came back next day for dinner and service was faster and better with same waiter. - We only request cleaning room once during 4 nights stay because we know hotel is busy and we still have enough towels and stuffs. Room was finally cleaned when we came back hotel around 6pm ( not done around 3:30pm when we were back first time). But pillows of 2 queen beds were exactly how they looked when we left. They made the beds very quickly and rush. Can check my photo for reference. Quite disappointed. - not sure what area in hotel were renovated as informations on hotel website, definitely needs some updating in the room. Stain in bathroom floor, very squeaky wooden door when try to open mini fridge every time. You have to push down the door so it won't be squeaky. Heat/AC in room wasn't functioning right. We were cold because rained a lot during our stay; changed to heat but 30-45 mins go by, only cold air coming out. We decided to turn off for the whole stay, temperature in room was better. - I bought fruit cups from Rumbao Market twice for my son. First time was good, expiry date was handwritten on the cup Feb 5th. Second time the next day was terrible, same expiry date. There is mold on strawberries & blueberries, melon were soaked in their own juice, sour and yucky. I fed my son a bit of that unfortunately until I realized the fruit cup wasn't good to eat at all. $10 to the trash. - buffet breakfast is a hit or miss. We paid extra to include breakfast but I wasn't impressed especially it is over $30 per person. Again, fruit sometimes don't look and taste good, like they were pre cut too early, soaked in their own juice, and get sour. However, coconut oatmeal is the highlight for I and my son. Love the flavor! The staffs are attentive and helpful. That is a plus. - it rained a lot during our stay. There was one evening ( last night before departure) when it didn't really rain, we stopped by the pool and looked at the lights and cruise ships. We were there for 20 mins. We headed back room, changed quickly and wanted to use hot tub. 10mins later we were back, pool was closed without any advanced notice. We thought the automatic door had problem, so called front desk. Waited 15mins. There was an engineer (my guess), came and said it was closed for guest safety in the rain. It didn't rain and we were just there 10 mins ago. And why front desk didn't know that information to tell us so we wouldn't need to wait. - destination fee was double charge in my room bill for 3 nights out of 4. Unfortunately I didn't stop by front desk to check bill as I usually do to catch that. Filed a request on Marriott website, waited 5 days as email, hotel still didn't contact. I called hotel accountant, they realized the double charge and said will work on refund. Will contact me back in 5-10 business days.
