Bonus points for the free underground parking which is especially valuable in the Flushing area. You pay at the front, leave your ID, then take off your shoes before heading downstairs to the wet area. There's shoe cubbies on the first level, but I prefer to take my shoes downstairs to your assigned locker so I don't have to worry about them potentially going missing. For proper etiquette just make sure to hold off on putting them on until you get to the first level when you're leaving. The co-ed clothed area (uniforms provided at check-in) is on the second level. There's additional saunas (clay, salt, etc.), ice room, sleep room, lots of recliners and even a restaurant up there. The wet area is pretty typical for a Korean spa. Gender segregated and nude only. There's a cold plunge, hot pool and warm pool. A row of seats for relaxing. A row of standing showers and two rows of sitting showers. Body scrub area. Sauna and steam room. Im from California but visit New York Spa & Sauna every time I come, which is about twice a year. However, this time I found the experience to be slightly different. Mainly that there's now a spa attendant in the men's wet area who sits right outside of the steam room. He frequently checks the steam and sauna plus strictly enforces the eight person capacity in the steam room. I can assume the purpose is to curb potential misconduct. IYKYK. On my prior visits, especially during the winter, there's times where upwards of a dozen or more people would be packed into the steam room at a time, quite the sausage fest. So I guess it's a plus for you now if you prefer having a little more space in there. The attendant was friendly enough and seems to strike a good enough balance of doing his job and not being too intrusive. I just found it slightly less relaxing since he's constantly counting up and down as people enter and leave the steam room. "Three, two, one, full, one, full, one, two, one, full, one two, three, two, one full, one, full again, please wait" is all you'll constantly hear now in the wet area. Eventually I did tone it out and even knocked out on one of the chairs for a bit, so I still found it overall a relaxing experience, just slightly less so than before. The spa opens until 11pm but the steam closes as 8:30pm and sauna at 9:00pm. If you stay past that, you're welcome to use the other amenities until they announce the check-out time which is a bit before 11pm. Overall, I stayed for nearly five hours and still had a fun and relaxing time. The place was clean and well maintained which is a huge plus for me.

I'm East Asian, but when I came with my non-East Asian friend, I noticed that a few people in the sauna room would annoyingly leave when she walked in with me. It's not the sauna's fault that the guests were being racist, but the guests here might not be as welcoming to other races just based on my one experience alone. This is reflected in the score I gave them. There's nothing extraordinary about this spa and sauna place! It's a great place for rest. If you need any of the additional massages, it's required that you have to be completed naked and washed from head to toe before sitting down on the massage table, at least on the women side. We were not able to find anyone for massages at the designated massage room when we were there, so we had to inquire within the ladies' locker room. Turns out, they were doing the massages inside the ladies' locker room.

I ended up purchasing a scalp spray for $40, which I was told was 50% off from $80. I'm not entirely sure how accurate that was, especially after noticing the expiration date is October 2026--it left me a bit unsure about the value. In total, I paid around $180 including tip, which feels quite expensive for the experience. Again, this place is not fancy nor does it pretend to be. It doesn't need to be when magical hands abound to give you the amazing massage that you deserve. Sure, the masseuses may talk some to each other through the wall while you are getting massages, but I just tuned it out. They are speaking a language I don't understand, so I just tuned it out. And, yes, the rooms are small, so they have to slide the massage tables a bit to get all the way around you to work different areas... but, come on, it's NYC. Spaces here are small. Forget what the complainers are saying, and check this place out. It really is the real deal, and I highly recommend it to anyone. Oh, one final quick note: When we called to make an appointment, no one spoke English, so we took a risk and walked in. Luckily they had folks ready to massage. If you don't want to risk a wait, call up one of your Mandarin-speaking friends to help you make an appointment -- that's what I'm going to do next time!

They didn't push us to upgrade the service and my husband and I were so comfortable that we both fell asleep and snored. It definitely can take away from your experience. Most of the food prices are reasonable but some were outrageous! If you want any personal spa services you have to book them in advance and me personally they are way too expensive! This place could make some small improvements but I appreciate what they have to offer and how they are different from most spas. It was impossible to relax in any of the pools available because there were children jumping and screaming and climbing and splashing water all over everyone. The only lifeguard on duty during the afternoon was on his phone giggling THE WHOLE TIME, even when kids were diving in a pool literally 2 feet deep. What I also did not expect was having to wait 40 minutes in line for a drink. There was only one person doing the drink, and then another one coming back and forth from what I found out to be the kitchen upstairs. Counting the people INSIDE the kitchen, cooking, there were a total of 5 people doing food and drinks during a fully booked day at lunch time. Also wasn't prepared to spend $26 + gratuity + tax for a drink (they automatically charge gratuity and then ask if you want to leave a tip lol) ON THE BRIGHT SIDE the place was clean and well kept, even the bathrooms were perfectly clean. Yes, a few hair here and there, but it was expected. The saunas were good and they had a good variety. I don't know if I'll come back during a weekend or festivity, $110pp seems a lot to not being able to relax.

I had the pleasure of sitting in Charlie's chair today. Spring is here and I wanted to lighten my hair. My brown color was faded and needed some life. Charlie took the time to ask exactly what I wanted. I showed him several photos of the colors I've had in the past, and asked his opinion on what I should do and how light I should go. At that point, he brought out an artillery of swatches from every color family and every shade available. He patiently went through each different color level, and placing the swatch near my own hair, we decided on what base, highlight, and gloss he would use. He went into detail about my own hair's current condition and what colors it would pull, and made very good suggestions on what to do and what not to do. I have never had someone work so meticulously and carefully with color on me. I never felt rushed through or like a nuissance. Very easy to see this was a professional colorist who had it down to a science. I was beyond impressed! Another staff member by the name of Stephanie removed the foils from my hair and shampooed me. She was very sweet and attentive to me. Charlie suggested that I use an Awapuhi oil treatment because my hair was damaged and the condition of my scalp was dry. Stephanie applied this treatment and I then sat in a heating chair for 20 minutes. 10 minutes into sitting in the chair, another employee came and offered me a complementary cappuccino and pastries. Really? I've been to other salons, this place is just different! A different vibe, and a Happy Place to be!! Charlie applied what he called a gloss toner, which completed my look. I could tell even with my hair wet that the color was beautiful. My hair was blown out and it looked AMAZING!!. The texture of it was different. I don't know if it was the color or the treatment he used, but the dry, damaged, dull hair that I walked in with, now looked healthy, soft, and had so many different tones of gold, honey, caramel, brown, and strawberry. The color is EXACTLY what I wanted and I LOVE it. Cannot say enough good things about this place. The entire staff is so nice. Even the other customers sitting next to you getting their hair done are very friendly. Again I will say the best part is going to pay. I would've easily spent over $300 anywhere else for an almost 4 hour job and the amount of work done to me. It was nowhere near that. The prices are very reasonable, the quality of the products and professionalism of the staff is Top Notch!! The hardest part is making the appointment & deciding whose chair to sit in. Finding a hair stylist that is not only talented but understands my vision has been the greatest struggle in my hair journey over the years. It wasn't until I came to Intercession Salon Spa that I found my dream stylist, Nicole Rolleri. After seeing her work on instagram I was so excited to let her take a shot at helping me achieve my hair goals and let me tell you, she did not disappoint. I was able to walk away from her chair feeling the most confident I have ever felt about my hair. Prior to starting, she made sure that we had a mutual understanding about what I wanted, how she was going to do it, and what she felt was appropriate for my hair based on her vast knowledge and experience. It is really important to me that there is full transparency between client and stylist so her willingness to explain everything, rather than just say "okay" and do it, was SUPER appreciated. Im telling you all right now... she gave me, my mom, and my sister the best hair cuts we have ever received in our lives. I cannot speak highly enough about this woman and trust her with my whole heart! It definitely helps that she is so kind, open, AND to top it all off she cares about accessibility and affordability. I've been going to Melissa for my hair for almost 14 years, following her from other salons. She is great with cut, color and highlights. She is also great with updos for any special occasion. She is very experienced and I always come out trilled by the results. She usually asks you what you want to have done, but is good with making suggestions and working with you if you are looking to try something different or want a new look. She only works on Fridays and Saturdays, but will try to accommodate you as needed. The prices at Intercession are fairly comparable to other salons in the area. I do wish the salon was open later on Friday nights as they close by 6:30pm, but overall the staff is really nice and I will continue going there as long as Melissa works there. read more

If you know me, you'll know how picky I am with who touches my hair. Coming to this salon has to have been the best decision I made in awhile. The moment I walked in I was welcomed and seated immediately! Barely any wait time. I was scheduled with Nicole (@written_incolor) who went through an entire consultation with me about my goals with my hair. She went in depth with detail as to what would be the best fit! She's SO knowledgeable and passionate and wants to make sure she gives you your dream hair. I have extremely curly hair and I wanted to do the big chop AND WE DID. I'm absolutely OBSESSED with my hair thanks to Nicole!!! I'd been wanting my hair cut & dyed for years but was always too afraid that it wouldn't turn out the way I wanted. I use Intercessions as my regular Hairdresser. But I also just used them for my wedding and couldn't be happier. My bridesmaids, our mothers and I all got our hair and makeup done. Everyone loved their hair and makeup. I worked solely with Lisa who is amazing. She listened to what I wanted and made me look better than I could have imagined. My makeup lasted beautifully all night long. My hair looked great as well. My bridesmaids all got updos that were slightly different but they all went together. Anthony form Intercession is amazing for Color. I have not been happy with my hair color in along time..I have tried the top recommended salons in Manhattan and Long Island with very disappointing results. Then on the advice of a co-worker I tried Intercession in Whitestone NY. I explained to the girl on the phone that I have thin hair and I really need someone who knows what they are doing. She made my appointment with Anthony. Not only did he understand what I was looking for...he actually made my hair look thicker and my highlights are gorgeous. The minute I walked into the salon I felt so welcomed! That's huge... I'm from Long Island and all my life I've been going to the Bronx to get my hair done. I lost hope with local salons. I've been extremely unsatisfied with hair stylists and customer service! I had an appointment with Lisa this past Friday for an updo because I was going to a wedding. I usually go to another salon but my current hairdresser was on vacation so I googled some good places and saw that Lisa was highly recommended so I took a chance and went for it. As soon as I sat down in the chair Lisa made me feel very comfortable and asked what I wanted. I showed her a picture and she got started right away since I have alot of hair and it is very long. I went here this past weekend. I had dyed my hair and it came out black, much darker than my natural brown. I called and made an appointment to get the black removed. I had never been to this salon before and took a chance. I had read many reviews on yelp and this salon had the best reviews in my neighborhood. Anthony did my hair, he was amazing! My hair is back to my natural color after removing the black and redyeing it my natural color. Everyone at the salon was very helpful and very nice. I have been going to Intersession Salon for over 5 years and the best haircut, color and makeup was done by Lisa! She is amazing! She is very understanding and listens to what you want. Lisa is a beautiful young woman and is the second chair when you first walk in. She is willing to accommodate her customers and I have never been disappointed yet. I have been going to intercessions for a little over 6 years now and I have been so impressed with their work and customer service. I have been going to their hairdresser Lisa for all my hair Appts and special occasions. She is the one person where I don't get anxiety if she cuts too much and she never let's me make irrational and spontaneous decisions when it comes to my hair. I just went to Intercession for the first time today and had an amazing experience! Lisa did a full consultation with me before I even got my hair washed. She is incredibly friendly and professional. Unfortunately my last haircut, from a different salon, was terrible! Lisa fixed my bangs and totally reshaped my hair! Lisa showed me exactly how to use the products and how to blow my hair out. I love going to intercession, Melissa is awesome I don't even need to say anything she knows what color to put in my hair all I have to do is sit and she knows exactly what to do whether it's going lighter or darker. The best is I know I got the best hair dresser because she checks on me with whether it's time to color and/or needing a trim. I don't trust anyone with my hair but her... I won't go anywhere else highly recommend her. read more

I just got a Brazilian Blowout from Lisa and it came out fantastic! Lisa was knowledgeable, and made me feel comfortable. She's the best! The entire staff was warm and friendly, the salon was clean and has the latest in haircare products and equipment. I have been going to Maggie for years and she is an amazing hairdresser! I will not let anyone else touch my hair except for Maggie! My husband recently became unhappy with his barber, since I always rave about Maggie he decided to take my advice and made an appointment. He came home and said it was the BEST haircut he EVER had!! This salon is deceiving from the outside, so much bigger and livelier when you walk in. Front desk staff is so warm and welcoming. Tina was my hair stylist and recommended I try a gloss in my hair, so I did it and absolutely LOVE it! It added amazing shine and softness to my hair. Jenn worked on me and convinced me to get an ombre. She made me feel comfortable, especially for someone who was a bit of a nervous wreck about getting her hair colored for the first time but still wanted to do it. I had thin hair, so I'm very self-conscious about this, but she was so professional and gave me the step-by-step rundown, which made me feel a lot at ease during the process. I normally go to no-frills Asian hair salons, so I'm not very used to the staff and stylists doing everything to make me feel at relaxed. After about a two-hour process, I finally walked out of the salon with beautiful dark red ombre streaks like Emma Stone walking down the hallway in "Easy A". The first try was a bit too bright, but she had no problem redoing it and giving me a shade darker. She also saved me a lot of potential anxiety when she told me to expect color coming off during the first few washes. The only reason I took a star off is because blowdrying is self-serve. I'm not sure if this part was excluded in the Groupon, but I have to say I was a little disappointed because I wanted to actually walk out looking like a million bucks. Nevertheless, I had a great experience and would consider coloring my hair again. This place is really out of the way for me, but it was so worth the travel.

The staff are, without exception, friendly and professional. On return trips to Europe, when getting my hair blown out there, I'm unfailingly told how beautiful my color is and how well it's done.
