I have had several repairs and inspections done by employees from Intelligent Service over the last few years, and have always had excellent service. All of my scheduled appointments were on time and their technicians were very knowledgeable and professional. I admit that their prices are higher than others, but they have always been on time where most of the others say they will be there and then leave me waiting for hours, or calling to say that due to previous jobs that day, they would have to reschedule me for the next day. I had an extremely poor interaction with one of their salespeople this week. This salesperson was condescending and kept making sexist remarks and comments due to me being female. The salesperson was not helpful or willing to discuss or work through alternative options for the work. I was quoted $13,000 to install a cleanout in my backyard, prior to doing any camera or rodding work in my pipes to find the issue. Once the issue would have been found, it would have been even more expensive. I was told the existing cleanout in the overhead in my basement could not be used. I received quotes from various other plumbing companies who were nowhere near that cost for ONLY an assessment of the problem. The plumber I went with had no problem using my existing fixtures to assess the problem, with an overall cost of the ENTIRE repair being less than the one item I was quoted with Intelligent. Overall I felt extremely disrespected and being taken advantage of. I will never work with this company again and I do not recommend them to anyone. read more

They came out to my house and told me the entire floor of my bathroom needed to be dug up and the entire pipe repaired. Quoted 3400 they came out the day off the scheduled work and discussed openly in my driveway that all they needed to install was a flange. They discussed making extra noise because it's just a girl inside. They tried multiple times to collect more money than the amount of work they did. The manager said he'd take care of the issue but won't say how, just trust me. Don't ever trust anything they say, make sure to get other opinions. I had a cracked pipe; it was a simple easy fix my brother told me. But being a woman, I did not know how to fix it myself. Intelligent came over early fixed it and charged me almost $600.00 to do it. I later found out you can buy the part at Menards for $12.95. Not so intelligent on my part. Needless to say I will not be using this money hungry, greedy company again. Over priced. They charge 30% more than other companies for basic tune up and on top of that, every time they come to my house they ALWAYS find a part that is malfunctioning or about to malfunction so they can charge me an extra $200-$500 to fix it. I could almost feel the desperation from all their technicians in having to bring more money back to the company. This is a good option for emergency plumbing situations. I called them around 4 a.m. and the dispatcher had a plumber here by 5:30 a.m. The plumber who showed up really seemed to know his trade, got the basement drained of water and did his due diligence before fixing the problem so we wouldn't get the wrong fix. He also seemed to care about not tracking mud around the home while he was doing the work. When I got our regular plumbers in here, they mostly confirmed what he'd told me. The only reason this is not a five-star review is because I had to reach out to them twice to get a copy of the bill and because our regular plumbers told me there *is* in fact a way to install a backup to the ejector pump. But overall, grateful to have reached these guys in an emergency. read more

The problem with software is that you have to be shown the screen and it should be reviewed. Didn't happen. Do not use this extremely unprofessional service. They are extremely unreliable. We had them scheduled 2 different times at 8 am with confirmation for the appointment and they blew us off both times. They did not tell us they weren't showing up until I called trying to find out where they were. The best part after the first time we rescheduled and they stated " the 8 am spot is a confirmed spot with priority". Total bull shit. Terrible management of people and clients time. Both times we were told something came up and they tried to reschedule it. Communication is terrible and I would highly stay away from them. I saw an online special, and needed a sewer mainline rodded out for roots. technician called and said he was on the way, then called back to say he had an emergency call to go to before my clogged sewer job. when he arrived, he immediately inspected and quoted me a lot more than the online amount. after this was pointed out, he said he would " do me a favor" and honor the online pricing. He began to rod the sewer and got a few big chunks of root balls out and began to pack it up after 20 minutes. when I pointed out he still had standing water in the drain and it was not draining properly. he said the "online pricing" did not cover more work, but again he would " do me a favor again" and try to clear it again. He ran his rodder that was too small for the job a few more times and every pass, got more roots out and said at least 5 times " he is not going to be here long for the listed price. The posting online promised a camera inspection and a cleared line or no money would be collected. with the sewer line still clogged and holding water, he packed up his equipment and left and said he would quote me additional repairs. I spoke to the manager via phone and he said they were going to lose money on this job and would not have the tech return to the shop to get the correct bigger cable to finish the job. as he left, he wanted to charge me a $49 trip charge that the office said was waived with the online advertising. waste of time for a job not completed as advertised a now I need to contact someone to complete the job they started. read more

These guys do amazing work, really. High quality, super reliable and I believe they do honest* work. I've had a sump pump replaced plus some work on a thermostat and a furnace. Here's the thing, they are ridiculously expensive. For the first few jobs I never really got any additional quotes because I was in semi emergency situations but when I was in a position to get a quote, they were hands down the most expensive. Every. Single. Time. I believe you get what you pay for, but these guys are crazy expensive. They have a nice office, nice trucks, good quoting systems/ERP, and good support...so of course all that costs money. The truth is you can get the same or better quality of work if you're willing to do your research, but this is a quality company...just really expensive. read more

Intelligent plumbing, installed a trenchless sewer line from my house to the main trunk line. That part of the work was good, and hopefully will last a long time. My problem with them is that they quoted me a price that I thought was high, but I relied on previous reviews and accepted it. Part of the quote involved a charge of $150 per foot of pipe run. They estimated me at 35 feet of pipe and actually only put in 25 feet of pipe. That was a difference of $1500 that I called about. They said they would not refund the difference because sometimes estimates are high and sometimes they are low and they all average out. I guess that's OK for the people with underestimates. The second problem had to do with damage that was left in my front yard. The plywood they used to protect from there backhoe was thin, and did not protect the yard very well. Secondly, when they put the Epoxy on the pipe, their tarps didn't protect the grass well enough and now I have dead spots in the front yard that I will have to fix. They need better plywood and better tarps. If you get a quote from them, I would recommend getting others, and ask them if they would true up the actual length of pipe installed to the contract price. read more

INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED & HEART-BROKEN. 1. Covid safety protocols not followed. 2. Hardwood floors greatly damaged. 3. Company took no ownership of the problem. Rep came in for a consult, wearing a thin buff that kept falling off of his face. One time during the consult he blatantly pulled down the buff to make the point "Do not buy a touch-free faucet, look at me, do not buy a touch free faucet." I did not feel safe with them in my home. After inspecting the floors there were gouges in our hardwood floors. We take pristine care of our floors. And inspect after every outside vendor is in. The rep did find the issue with our leak. And the initial customer service was good, and it sounded like the company was going to help find a way to solve our issue with the floors being damaged. Upon talking to a manager, they took no responsibility for the issue, and their response was that they'd tell the team and they would be a stronger company for it. I paid over $4,000 for my new floors. And now they are a mess in the kitchen. I am INCREDIBLY disappointed in how the situation was handled. They have taken care of a sewer problem that could've cost 3 to 4 times more to fix if they didn't resolve it. Our sewer line that goes to the street was about to collapse, they hard lined it (basically angioplasty and relining) from our house to the street. They have all their own equipment as well. If you have ever dealt with fly-bys, which either rent or borrow, you know that is already a bad option to start. read more

I waited to write this review so I'd have a clearer picture... Last summer this company buried a sump discharge line from the rear of my house, out to the storm sewer in front. The final work has been fine, but I want to point out something that will lead me into part two of this review. They struggled to keep each appointment to get here to start and complete the work. I was even given the old and tired "The truck won't start" routine. Please. As I said, they got the job done, but it was a nail-biter all the way. Part two, the interior discharge lines. The specific plumber who did the work seemed to know what he was doing, but also was obviously under extreme pressure from the office/scheduling/dispatch to get done with my job and off to somewhere else. The result has manifested itslef over time in the form of leaks and crooked plumbing that needed to be corrected by another plumber just recently. A plumber that did a great job, AND wasn't rushing to leave. I would look elsewhere. read more

This used to be 5 stars until today! I had the spigots replaced in 2020. every winter I make sure the water is shut off, valves covered and hoses put away. I just turned them back on for spring and had one of the spigots burst shooting water in my workshop. I didn't have a concern since the work done is under warranty, but I was wrong. I was basically called a liar and questioned repeatedly if I left the water on during the winter. They offered to fix it at half the price which says it was my fault. With that said, beware when hiring this company. I don't care to be called a liar by a company who has done work in my home enough to see how I take care of it. Their ethics were answered today. If I could give zero I would. While they may very well do good work, they certainly come across as professional, their business practices are questionable and their pricing is outrageous. I called two plumbers for a small job, installation of a Toto washlet. (see separate positive review on Bill's Plumbing, the one I went with). I sent photos of the job to Bill's and they gave me a quote over the phone of $200+parts. These guys refused to do that and said instead they could send someone out the next day for a quote and if I wanted, they would do the job. Since Bill's couldn't do the job for a couple of weeks, I agreed. My first clue should have been when the dispatcher sent me a coupon for $50. A $50 discount for a $200 job? Perhaps my other clue should have been the "next day". Tradesmen are busy, two weeks is reasonable for a non-emergency. Who are these guys? I asked if the plumbers were employees and she said yes, I wonder though. Anyway, a man came out, he was very friendly and professional. Spent a lot of time analyzing, calling the office, making conversation, and then after about 20 minutes gave me a quote of $547 or something close to that. I told him I had a quote for less than 1/2 and wasn't interested. He offered to call the office to "see what he could do", I declined. He then tried to charge me the $39 other reviews talk about, and I told him I wasn't told anything about a fee, was led to believe the estimate was free, asked for a phone estimate, etc etc and wasn't paying anything. It is very difficult to give a rating as there needs to be different rating categories. Below are my ratings: 1. 5 STARS -Due to water slowly coming out under water heater, I felt that I better change out water heaters quickly and not wait for a flood. I called at 5:00 PM on a weekday, and Intelligent Plumbing was the fastest to respond, having 2 trucks, not just one. Very quick, polite, great communication within the company. 2. 2 STARS - Water heater installed had a dent on the top. I work at home and was thinking everything was fine, and did not know a dented water heater was being installed. (Dent was fairly large.) No mention was made, even when I came downstairs and looked at it with the plumber standing near me. Glitches are best tackled up front. Trust gets lost when this does not happen, or the issue is minimized. 3. 4-5 STARS - I did not want a new obviously dented water heater at a high price. Was only offered $100 off for the dent. So I asked for replacement, and was going to pay only a percentage of the bill. However, they had me pay nothing at all, and came out a couple days later to give me a water heater in perfect condition. That was a great way to do things. 3. 3 STARS - Pricing. This is a high service company, so they are not inexpensive. For a water heater install, it was overkill to call them. But if there is a complicated project, then I imagine they are worth it. $99 of the fee of $1484.23 for a Bradford White 50 gallon tank was the expense of responding immediately after work hours. 4. 5 STARS - The plumber was very fair in telling me that it did not seem like an emergency, but that the old water heater was not worth fixing. I was the nervous person not wanting to wake up to a surprise flood in my house. He explained things well. He was clean, neat, polite, and competent. read more

I recently had a clogged toilet and called Intelligent Plumbing to come out and fix the issue. Over $500 and 4 hours later, they found that the clog was right outside the house with a pipe leading to the septic tank. Clog was not fixed, that would require another $4,000. Yes, $4,000 to pump out septic tank, dig out around the clogged pipe, dig up my bushes to get to the pipe and put equipment on the pipe to blow out the clog. I was taken aback by the cost and what they had to do so I thankfully called a septic company. For $400, the septic company pumped out the tank and unclogged the pipe, issue fixed! My advice, as homeowner you better make sure your issue isn't septic related because Intelligent is not qualified and they WILL take advantage of you. Charging $4,000 compared to $400 is absolutely crazy and I don't know how they ethically can do business that way. read more
