They were able to get the job done quickly and efficiently, and they were very customer service oriented. I contacted Joe from Heartland in January of 2022 for the first time. He appeared to be very transparent, knowledgeable, and honest. The company also had the right documentation, reviews, and insurance coverage required to finish the job. I feel like they explained the process extremely well from start to finish. They were also very familiar with the process of working with insurance. The company had a few hiccups with the project, but they handled them graciously and with a strong sense of urgency. For example, there was a delay in getting started because they needed to wait for the insurance company to approve the claim. However, once they got started, they were able to complete the roof installation in a day and they got me on the schedule in only a week's time (despite the overall delays in the industry). In other words, another company may have taken a month to get the project scheduled and materials ordered. They had also got some green skid marks on the driveway from moving the OSB boards, but were out in no time to power wash and scrub the driveway clean. Don was out there on his hands and knees. To me, that is a whole new level of dedication to customer service. Another company may have just snubbed its nose at my concerns and ignored them. Don, the project manager was out several times to make sure the job was done right. He even came back days later to finish painting the inside trim around the skylight. Shannon kept me informed and always was on top of addressing any concerns or needed information. Specifically, Shannon was always quick to respond and always had the answers to my questions. She was a great advocate for me as the customer and helped to keep the project on track (despite those delays because of insurance). I really appreciate all her help in getting the job done. Joe has a lot of experience with this kind of work, and he knows that insurance companies and building departments can be tough to deal with. He was really persistent in advocating for me and trying different approaches. His expertise and problem-solving skills were greatly appreciated. Heartland was also able to upgrade my roof with high-quality class 4 shingles and their team was professional, friendly, and courteous throughout the entire project. They also went above and beyond getting the payout I deserved from my insurance company. The fight dragged on for much longer than it should have, but even the lawyers didn't care to take it on. I can only be eternally grateful for going to bat for the customer and doing what's in their best interest through and through. In short, Heartland Construction is top-notch in every way--I highly recommend them!

Stay far away from them if you're not in a reasonable service area. They are an insurance claim chaser company and will step all over you to get at your payout. They sent different people out to inspect and provide quotes (gutter and soffits/fascia was the scope requested). I did not ask for a roof assessment but the gutter guy thought it might be eligible for an insurance replacement, so I said sure send the guy on out and let's see what happens. That's where it got really.... interesting. My first appointment was for a Friday. I asked for a specific time so I could manage my work schedule around the inspection. A time was agreed upon. Nobody showed up. I had to initiate contact to find out that they would not be coming that day due to the time/distance. We rescheduled and on the rescheduled date, I reached out early to confirm the time and was told the inspector would be 30min late. I readjusted my work calendar and was notified it would be an additional 15min. This turned out to very much work in my favor. The inspection was very thorough and took about 1.5hr. At the conclusion of the inspection I was told they can convince the insurance company to replace the roof. They showed me what ended up being a contract, but was not presented as such explicitly by name. I was asked to sign before they revealed the "fine print" on the back page - which involved having the insurance company sign the check over to Rex Roofing rather than me (I have USAA). This didn't sit well after discussing with several people and reviewing the fine print. I voided the contract within the 72 hour grace period so I can get a second opinion, gather additional quotes, and control my own insurance payout (if that happens). Instead of responding to me to confirm they received my email (always document in writing! With time stamps!) they forwarded it to the inspector who started texting me asking to "resolve" the situation. I explained, as I had in the email, that I would be taking my insurance payout myself and I requested a "cash price" quote from them. I was then told there was no way my insurance company would approve it without the inspector present, a number of wild assumptions and insinuations were made, and I was essentially berated by text by the salesman for exercising a legal right to void the contract. I had to block his number because he would not stop texting me to mansplain how I had no idea what I was doing as a homeowner and he was the only person who could convince my insurance adjuster to cover the roof. Turns out he was right - they talked me into opening a claim, the adjuster said the roof is perfectly fine and they would replace only one portion of one downspout that had hail damage. I can't tell you how the "value" of this company compares to others because they said they would do the work "for a price agreed upon with the insurance company" without providing a scope of work or any numbers of any kind in writing - so I guess they're not really interested in much besides doing the job for as much as they can squeeze out of the insurance company. I might not have made a USAA claim myself but everyone else in my family has.

They truly embody the values of integrity, responsibility and craftsmanship. Mathew and his oustanding team takes great pride in their work, and deserve the highest accolades. Mathew and his team has replaced the the roof on my primary residence in South Park Hill as well as that of a rental property we own in North Park Hill. Our historic property in South Park Hill included the primary house roof, as well as our 920 square foot carriage house roof. The North PH house is a historic single story bungalow. Despite the presence of older, prexisting damage to the roofing, Mathew was able to negotiate with our claims adjuster for a comprehensive and thorough roof repair for all three roofs. Mathew walked with the adjuster and showed him all the roof damage (both the old and new). He was able to skillfully bolster the argument for approval of total roof replacement, but he also advocated for other necessary upgrades, including new decking, a high quality synthetic underlayment, and importantly, the Class 4 Impact Resistant Shingles, at no additional cost. The main roof on the South PH property had complex framing with hips, valleys, and dormers, as well numerous penetrations, and multiple chimneys. These required exact and intricate cuts to align everything properly. The total roof tear-off and replacement exposed a number of hidden issues with framing, decking, and water damage. All existing issues were addressed and repaired with attention to current codes and skilled craftmanship. Mathew facilitated all the communications between the insurance company and ourselves, and coordinated the entire process to make the project both positive and seamless.

They committed to painting our house as well as the roof replacement and said it would likely be a couple hundred dollars out of pocket for us for everything. In the end they wanted to charge us the full cost of the house painting, when including the painting was a huge part of his sales pitch and one of the main reasons we went with them. When I went on the roof after the replacement I noticed they did not replace the turtle vents, the same hail dented ones are still there, but they were billing me for the vents. After calling getting those taken off in the same conversation they added charges for roofing around my swamp cooler which was there when they did the assessment, evaluation and estimate, there was zero reason for there to be unknown cost regarding the swamp cooler. And these costs were only added after I called about the vents NOT being replaced. I felt that they had a specific dollar amount they were trying to get. As another person said here, they were out to get the most for doing the least. They were trying to bill for things that were not replaced and I am still mad, like why didn't you just replace the vents and we would have paid for them! Instead of not replacing them and trying to have me pay for work that was not done. Boils down to all the trust being totally broken. Could have had a customer for life. And what is really bad is posting about himself and the company doing things the right way and treating people right and that was NOT my experience at all.

I received a quick call back from Tom at Jam Roofing...I explained that we had decided to contact our insurance company to see if they would cover a claim. Tom asked to stop by and take a look, regardless of whether we were going to pursue a full blown roof job - he was willing to take some photos and give us his opinion. As 2 other roofers quoted a fee to look at our roof, I appreciated Toms "good customer service" approach. It was Toms professional opinion that the roof was badly damaged. Fast forward to our insurance inspector - our insurance company responded that hail damage was minimal and sent us a check for $1900 to cover some cosmetic damage. I am not very familiar with the type of spray roof on our home, but it did not take a rocket scientist to see that it was damaged (and to see the leaks in our ceiling). After a discussion with Tom, he suggested that I ask for a re-inspection with an adjuster who is specifically familiar with this type of roof - and he would arrange to meet the adjuster at our home. About 4 days later, our insurance company contacted us with the news that they would total our roof and provide a very fair settlement payment. 48 hours after that I had money in hand and contacted Tom to let him know that he earned our business. We signed a contract to upgrade from our current Elastomeric spray roof to a more durable rubber roof. At the same time we chose to install an additional evaporative cooler on the roof, and Tom provided a reference for a heating/cooling company that he's coordinated work with in the past (will post about these great folks in another review). We paid a % of the total up front for material cost and in about 2 weeks we were contacted to set a start date. At the exact time I was told, up pulls a roll-off dumpster, and shortly after a bunch of trucks with material and our work crew. Over the course of the tear-off and installation, the crew worked diligently, professionally and respected our home - leaving the job site clean and clear of any debris. Weather created some small delays in completion, but as soon as the sun was shining again, the crew was on the job. Throughout the process, Tom would check in with us and review the work. He also personally completed the final bits of fit and finish. So, here is where the rubber (roof) meets the road...this was a big, expensive job and I am so satisfied with the service, communication and quality that I want to shout it from the rooftop (pun intended). Seriously, how often have you dealt with folks that call you back quickly (every time), do exactly what they say and do it in the exact time they promise to do it? That is Jam Roofing. The quality of the work, details, fit and finish are evident - we got a super high quality roof that I am confident will provide many years of protection and comfort...and we got the help we needed in facilitating an insurance claim that was favorable. Highly, highly recommended - if you need a roof repair, new roof or anything roof related - look no further. Call Jam Roofing and ask for Tom. You can thank me later!

Approximately 60 days ago, the representatives from smart roofing came to my door even though there is a clearly posted sign that states "no salesmen". Against my better judgement I allowed them to look at my roof. I was told a new roof was needed and was presented options. Since I am a single income household, I made it a point to ensure that I asked and verified that NO funds would be needed out of my pocket...Ever. This was met with an "affirmative" no less than 6-10 times. As per that aspect, I decided to proceed with the roofing job, again verifying that there would be no cost out of my pocket. Again "no Sir. Nothing out of pocket". Subsequently, I received a card on my doorstep from one of the project managers stating that the salesman that came had a personal emergency and would no longer be on my project. There was a lot of discussion around "subsidies", and the fact that smart roofing were experts in making sure that the claim would be maximized. Again, "with no out of pocket costs." A check was received from state farm. At the time there were still questions as to what the scope of work would be, and that Smart Roofing would get back to me. The next call that was received was from Wells Fargo. The representative stated that there was a call received by Genesis Capital wanting specific PCI level data on my account and wanted to know if it was okay to release this data to them. I explained to the Wells rep that "given recent security concerns with Wells Fargo, that I was reluctant to release any information to any person whom I could not identify. I suggested that the representative get the Genesis representative on a conference call so that they could be verified. The Wells rep informed me that the number that was provided by the Genesis rep was a "non- working number". I instructed Wells that no information was to be released. This evening 7/20/2017 at approximately 6:30 PM a person stating that they were from Genesis capital and was here to resolve "the issue". I explained that no checks will be released until I know the scope of the work that is being performed as Smart roofing still needed to get back to me with some answers. I was then told that I was being served with an "intent to Lien" on my primary residence for the amount of the check from state farm. This individual realized that I was irate and began to take pictures of myself and my home while letting me know " state law says we can lien your property, and we WILL seek 3x damages, you have been legally served, go ahead call your lawyer, we're going to call your mortgage and insurance company too". Papers were left on my doorstep, not handed to me. Aside from the invasion of privacy, threatening tactics, poor ethics and deceptive means used to serve me with papers for work that has not yet even been scheduled, there is the issue of what I was told and what is actually happening. The Genesis representative was there only to serve me with fraudulent papers. I also see that they have an "F" rating. There was supposed to be a new roof, gutters, part of my covered patio and some other items that Smart roofing promised "with zero cost out of pocket" as of yet, all I have are lies and a lien on my property to go along with the stress of potentially having to fight a mechanics lien for work that has not been performed. Thus far the entire process has been deceptive, and both companies should be investigated to the highest degree. In speaking with the Smart roofing project manager, it was stated that "this should not be happening, that nothing has been contracted for" The owner (who would not get on the phone) even after numerous requests stated (through the project manager) that "neither the owner or myself (the project manager) have any knowledge of this issue or who Genesis Capital is". This is highly unusual and even more suspect than the claims from Smart Roofing as to what could be accomplished and for "no money out of pocket" UPDATE 6/27/2018 All has been resolved. Everyone has a bad hire every now and then; it's just a fact of being a business owner. Dave was unfortunate to have had one. Dave and I discussed what was promised and were able to agree on the work to be done. Dave was courteous, understanding and professional.
