We needed to install a window AC unit in our horizontally opening window, so we needed a way to seal the rest of the window opening with plexiglass. We could not have done this on our own and are so grateful to have had Arvin's expertise! He helped me pick an AC unit and installed it the same day it arrived. TL;DR Arvin came late, didn't complete the job, left a mess, and charged more than the original quote. I hired Arvin to repair our front door. He gave me a quote of $150 to fix the stickiness by sanding down the side and repainting, patching dents, and installing a new doorknob. He offered to purchase the new doorknob for me but I told him it wasn't necessary since I already had one. On the day of the job I had to go to work, so my boyfriend took the morning off work to let him in and pay him. I was expecting Arvin to come at 10-11am, but he texted later that morning saying it would be more like 11-12pm. I was peeved but my boyfriend was fine as long as he could leave by 2pm to check in at work, so told Arvin that an hour late was ok. He later texted saying that he would come closer to 2-3pm. I told him that time would be too late and we'd have to reschedule. Arvin ended coming at 12pm. When I got home, my entryway was covered in saw dust. There were still dents in my doorway except for one patch. And he charged my boyfriend $200 because he "wasn't expecting to install a doorknob." Arvin was great until I needed him to fix something he did and then he blew me off for months until FINALLY we connected and then he got upset with me because I was running 5 MINUTES late. He offered to stay and wait once he realized he was in the wrong for giving me a hard time, but I was so put off by his attitude that I told him I didn't need his assistance anymore. I needed an old AC in the wall unit removed. Arvin came out and gave me a very reasonable price quote. I ended up contacting him back two days later and we set up a day for the job to be done. He came out and was very professional, polite, and humble which I respected a lot of his personality. He got to work on removing the wall unit and then he fixed the hole in the wall. It took longer than expected but the patience and the wait was well worth it. He wanted to make sure that the plaster and the stucco on the outside dried correctly before he began any painting. We waited an extra day and then he came back and sanded down the wall and prepped it for painting. He made proper touch ups as needed to make sure it was a smooth surface ready for painting and he even went beyond what was agreed upon and actually did the painting for me since I had the paint already. At every step of the way he was easy to converse with and in my opinion was the best choice I made in hiring a handy man. I would definitely hire him again without a hesitation but I do have to let others know that if hiring you just need to be patient and flexible with time.
