I wish I had seen yelp reviews before scheduling a free estimate appointment with Install America. As others have stated, the "free quote" process was appalling. I got hooked up with this scam-show through Angie's List (which I will never use again). First, the people who schedule the appointments called me every day for 7 days to "confirm" the appointment. Then, when the horrible sales rep showed up at my house, he scolded me for switching my appointment time at the last minute! I never changed the appointment time. I just confirmed it 20 times, but I couldn't get a word in over his fast, loud talking to explain that. We were getting an estimate for our roof which had no leaks and just needed a cosmetic face lift with new underlayment paper and shingles. We live in an average-sized ranch home. After listening to his loud, long sales pitch complete with iPad slide show for a full hour, he finally scribbles $67,327 on a piece of paper. I LAUGHED--not kidding. When I told him that there was NO WAY I was paying $67,327 for a roof, he started to insult me by saying that I was foolish for sacrificing quality for a lower price. He put down every other contractor in the state and basically called me stupid for even considering another offer. I had invested an hour and a half of my life listening to this guy, and I told him I wasn't interested, and I wanted to conclude our meeting, but HE WOULDN'T LEAVE! Miraculously, he suddenly offered to give me the roof at a lower price, but he had to call his boss and put him on speaker phone to get permission. That dude was just as rude as the salesman. No matter how many times I told them that I wasn't interested, they wouldn't quit. Finally, I started yelling, and told them that I didn't appreciate their shady practices and hard sell techniques. It didn't matter what I said, the guy refused to leave. He just went on and on with bad analogies and rude comments. My husband had the fits of the whole thing and excused himself to the back yard about halfway through this fiasco. I should have asked him to stay because he would have kicked the guy out--literally. I know I said the words, "I want you to leave now" at least ten times. Finally, I opened the front door and stood with the door open until he reluctantly left. It was the most disturbing, scam-ridden, infomercial ever produced--only I couldn't turn it off. Run, don't walk from this company. You will thank me! read more

Despite having told the rep who called me that I did not need their services, the company has continued to call me. I have told them to take me off of their call list, apparently to no effect. Install America practices borderline harassment techniques to get business. What's worse is that when I was looking for contractors, HomeAdvisor gave them my number even though I did not specifically choose to contact Install America. The window installation was great! We had all of our windows replaced and French doors installed! Once the work was completed, they were supposed to install a new front door but dropped the ball. We ended up getting someone else to do it. Recently our French door was leaking. I called and left a message and have yet to hear from them! Not happy!! read more

I can't comment on the quality of their work because the quality of their sales team is so bad. Got roped into trying to get estimates for a new roof and bamboo flooring for a kitchen and great room. Red flag I should have heeded is they didn't want to come unless my wife was also present (Why do you need two people to give an estimate? So you can give the hard sell, that's why). Salesman shows up smelling of cigarettes and bad cologne. Makes jokes about his ex-wife. Keeps insulting the condition of the roof (I know it's ready to be replaced, that's why you're here). Flooring was a second thought and he didn't seem interested or knowledgable about the job. Plus, he did not bring any bamboo samples; he just wanted us to pick some vinyl from his little swatches. He went back to work on the roof sales pointing out how great their roofing work was. After putting lots of numbers into his calculator he arrives at $29000. "How did you get that number?", I ask. He won't say or give me anything in writing. He then wants me to sign something that I am turning him down. He repeats that they will not give written estimates outlining what they would do. I asked him to leave. The next day the office calls and tries to get someone to come out again and give a better price. No thanks. Stay away from Install America. I had a scheduled date/time for someone to give me an estimate on my deck. They had to cancel due to weather. They contacted me the next day on my cell phone. I indicated that I was at work and dealing with a difficult employee. They then asked 'is Mr. XXX available?". Um, no. There is no Mr. XXX AND I JUST SAID I WAS AT WORK!! It made me uncomfortable when they asked about a husband when they were canvasing the neighborhood; made me more uncomfortable when they asked me again after just saying I was at work. This company has horrible sales reps. I recently had a rep come to give me estimates. First off he kept trying to get me show him my finaces and kept trying pawn off their financing options. He was rude called me and my partner dumb not serious and was overall just acted like a spoiled brat. He was the worst dailes rep ever no knowledge on anything.Their products are over priced they don't have good communication. They try to sell you overhyped stuff. Stay away from their sales pitch you will save yourself time money and a headache. Go with a other company . read more

Install America knocked on our door because they were doing work for a neighbor of ours. We met with the salesman and during this meeting he was very professional. We agreed to the price and their terms and had their lead installer come out for measurements and we were about ready to proceed with our new front porch and side deck. About 2 weeks after measurements were taken, we received a call saying that they discontinued their most popular decking. The salesman came back out to discuss what alternatives were available to us. After we decided on the alternatives, he gave us a new price and it was 30% more than what we originally agreed to. The salesman told us that he was notified the day after his visit with us that the decking was discontinued and when we questioned him as to why the lead installer never said anything or why we didn't receive a call sooner, he just shrugged his shoulders. We were lied to and they tried to take advantage of us. This company does not deserve their BBB rating and are VERY shady to deal with. Do not use this company. These people are the most annoying. I had an appointment for a quote but that day had a family issue so I cancelled. I told the person I was speaking with that I'd call back to reschedule when things were sorted out. That was a week ago. I get at least 8 calls a day from these morons no matter how many times I tell them to back off. I will not reschedule with them or ever use them because of it. Now I just hang up on them. read more

Needless to say, the sales person calls me multiple times per day, to the point that I blocked the number. Friggin horrible! They did no work for me. They kept calling to confirm appointments that i never made. Without ever meeting with these people they were calling me 6x a days. Finally I said please take my number off your list because at this point it is actual harassment and after 6 calls a day I will NEVER EVER have you do workfor me. Do not use this company. I have not had any results with my issues regarding a roof installation and follow-up. First crew that came were not professional and lacked the skills to perform and do a good job. While that was quite evident, after second crew had to come back and reinstall part of the roof, I was totally shocked when I had the ceiling to the carport being replaced and we found a hole was in the roof that they had installed. I was told it looked like they put the roofing material on and then someone fell through while walking across. They just shingled across the hole and never fixed it. Now almost a week later, I have calls into them but there has not been any action taken to give me a time line when it will be fixed. I emailed the picture of the hole to them for their records. I also requested that the original NOT crew come back to fix the roof. As of today, still no word. I am now going to report them to the Better Business Bureau as my legal advisor suggested and write this review. I am a senior citizen and a very recent widow and this struggle is not something that I feel I should have to deal with at this time in my life. read more

We made a appointment with them on March 22. The salesman showed up on time at 8:30 AM. We wanted our dormers on our house redone just like they are now. We were given a quote and told the work would take 2 to 3 days to complete and they would bring in a crew and start in 3 weeks. Now the problems begin! April 2nd, The project manager comes over to get materials ordered but hasn't even red the contract to see what is to be done with the dormers and now said it would be 4 weeks before they would be done. April 19th, a sub contractor arrives to see how much material to order but wants to cover them in vinyl, not as original. He then said that the company would have to get a carpenter. May 1st, another contractor arrives that can do the job, submits a material to Install America but neither of us gets the go ahead for completion. They then back out of the project 88 days after signing a contract. They have wasted our time and chance of getting it done this summer. PLEASE just get a local contractor, TERRIBLE service. PS their contract gives the customer 3 days to back out but gives them 90 days. read more

I reported them to the police for soliciting on our street without a permit and for harassing me with endless phone calls. A year later and they just called me again, which prompted this review when the man laughed and mocked me for saying I called the police last year and to never call me again. We had someone come out to the house to give us a price to install a tub and shower surround.Their rep told us that they always remove the old tub and install a new one along with checking the floor and walls to see if that needed to be reinforced. The first price she gave us was close to $16,000.00 and then after making a phone call to her office we were told that it could be done for around $13,000.00. When she first came in our house she was very nice but when we told her that we wanted to check with at least two more vendors she became irritated and very nasty! She wanted us to sign a contract that if we didn't find another contractor after 30 days then we would have to let them repair the bathroom. I told her that I was not signing anything that day but she kept on persisting and pressuring us to sign. She must have asked us close to ten times why we were not going to sign! I was close to calling the police and have her removed from the house. Her final words were "it doesn't matter to me if you sign today or not because I still get paid for this visit." She told me the sellers had to be there also. I told her that wasn't a problem and we set the appointment for 4p.m. The guy (Benny) that came out for the quote was late. I introduced myself and told him I was the buyer. He told me oh that's not what we do. I can't give you a quote. I told him I explain the situation over the phone and that the sellers are home. He made a called. He told me he could not give me a quote because I don't own the home and because he tries to make the deal on the spot. Install America has wasted my time and the sellers time. I had my outdoor room done by them two years ago and have yet to come fix their mistakes!!!!!! They are completely ignoring me. Do not use them! I still cannot finish the room because they never sealed the walls to the floor and water comes in every time it rains. He left assuring me I would here from his manager with a quote soon. The next day I received a call from someone purporting to support the representative. However it soon became clear she was competing with him - offering better pricing if I went through her and her manager. She said I would here from her manager soon. I never heard back from either. The company customer service is horrible. They take forever to get back with you in regards to issues with the product. We had all the windows replaced in our home and after the install was complete we noticed that they installed torn screens and we had to call them back and it took 3-4 weeks to be replaced. Then the windows cracked in the kitchen and it has been over a month since submitting a request and to this day the cracked window has yet to be replaced. read more

The job coordination is as bad as I've ever experienced with multiple unreturned calls and multiple missed dates. Hired this company to install a new roof. I wish I could give a great review but I can not. First, this company comes to your house with a great sales pitch, telling you their history and how they NEVER hire subcontractors. Then they try to sell you the standard home depot line of shingles. However, I have an 1890's Victorian farmhouse and wanted something more original. Having done my research and knowing EXACTLY what i wanted, I specifically asked that they quote on the GAF Camelot shingle, not Camelot II, but Camelot. They quoted what seemed to be a fair price, however, after I was approved for financing and asked for a shingle board to confirm the color I wanted, they gave me a Camelot II display board which is not as high def as the regular Camelot. When questioned, they said they quoted on the lesser Camelot shingle. However, on my written estimate it stated "Camelot'" not "Camelot II." Needless to say, they said they made a quoting mistake and wanted more money to do the job. Frustrated and angry but wanting the job done, I agreed to split the difference. Many weeks later a crew arrived very early one January morning, without advance notice, to do my roof. The truck said, "Hillcrest Roofing"... alas....they hired a sub, something they said they never do. The crew started my roof a day before a major snow storm was coming through. While I can say the roof looks good, there were some issues. First. Though I installed a brown metal roof on the lower porch roof, they used a bright aluminum cover for my vent rather than brown, which looked bad. Second, they had to remove all the j-channels from around my front door to install the roof but when they replaced them they were not reinstalled back the way they were originally. Rather then mitered corners they were stuck back on haphazardly. Of course, Hillcrest does roofs so they did not take responsibility for fixing the j-channels. Install America, after weeks of back and forth, finally sent someone out to fix the j-channels but they only did one side. It is now the end of July, and they never came back to fix the other side. The last and final issue was they were supposed to install snow cleats on the metal portion but that was never done. While the roof subcontracted to Hillcrest Roofing looks beautiful, Install America seems to have shady business practices. I would not use them again for anything in my home. read more

I had install america install 20+ windows. These guy were a complete mess. I had ladders, extensions cords, paint chips, caulk tubes and window packaging left all over my yard. I had to call the owners son to get the stuff cleaned up. The mess they left in my house with paint chips was even worse. Their contractors did not follow one BIT of the Pennsylvania LED abatement standards. I would not recommend these guys. Their Windows are ok, price was average, but employees a mess. They also did another job for a relative and the roof was not to code and did not pass borough inspection. It had to be reproofed. Go somewhere else. I had 3 roofs installed this year by another contractor and Install America left a bigger mess than the roofing contractor. read more

I have had work done by Install America in April 2013 that is STILL Not rectified. The workmanship was horrible, my sink is not installed properly or the drain seated properly. I had another flood in my kitchen this weekend due to their jury rigging the install. The deck they installed is a mess the quality of the materials are not good. It was and still is the worst experience I have ever had. The bank actually refunded me my money after seeing the pictures of the horrible work. And instead of trying to resolve this with me they are taking me to court to try to make me pay for the job they never completed or rectified. What's wrong with these people....crooks. read more

Used install america in the past for replacement windows and a carport - Did great work both times. They will always quote you extremely high and then work down "close" to the price of other companies. This time we used them for a washroom remodel which involved: 1) Moving electrical and plumbing a few feet to relocate washer dryer 2) adding an additional light and an additional exhaust fan, 3) repairing bad section of flooring around toilet, 4) removing an old built in cabinet & installing new base cabinet w/ counter top, 4) removing old sink & replacing w/ new sink base cabinet with faucet. 5) Install & finish drywall for painting over the existing paneling. 6) replaced old door with solid wood door. One negative is they have many different people coming to do the job. and they don't always know what the last guy did or exactly what they were supposed to be doing that day. They have a few good people that actually know what they are doing. Unfortunately they are usually the ones they pulled off the job after a day or two. I would have done this job myself but I don't have the time and I thought I could trust Install America since I used them in the past. DO NOT let them work on your electrical, plumbing or any other critical areas inside your home. I guess they didn't realize I know how things should be done correctly. After everyday I would inspect their work , take pictures, etc... A picture says a thousand words. Unfortunately you cannot upload pictures. (Look elsewhere as I will be posting on many other sites as well with pics if possible) Here is a BRIEF list of cut corners, poor work etc.. 1) They had to redo the plumbing (washer drain pipe) twice as they had first installed the pipe under the floor higher than level of the flooring. 2) For the electrical they had to bring out the outlets & switches due to the added drywall thickness. Instead of doing it the right way they used "DRYWALL SCREWS" through the switches to attach the switches to the boxes to try to adjust them outward more flush with the new drywall. 3) They kicked the breaker, & shorted out and fried the 1st exhaust fan they were "trying" to install. 2nd fan they actually installed without burning my house down. 4) They installed a DRYER EXHAUST WALL VENT on my soffit where the fan was vented. (Obviously you use a "soffit" vent for a soffit) 5) When they cut up the floor to move the washer drain they did not level off the patch job properly and the floor was extremely saggy and unlevel in that area. I had them remove the flooring and install an additional subfloor which any novice would have done in the 1st place. 6) The drywall finishing was supposed to completely sanded and paint ready. (NOT) Overall decent but horrible around switches, outlets etc.. The only reason I ended up with a "decent" job on the room was because I basically took apart much of their work to see what they were doing. Also. nails, screw etc.. left in driveway several times, drywall mud tracked across our carpet. They had 1 employee who had some suggestions & wanted to do a couple things to improve the job such as to switch the door swing to improve the flow of the room which was shot down because it would have added a few bucks to their costs. I know every detail of the cost of this job as far as materials etc.. (They purchase all of their building materials from Home Depot) I researched & wrote a detailed list of every piece of wood, drywall, screws, flooring, caulk, pipe, electrical components, labor etc. etc. I intentionally estimated high. Their cost for this project was approx. $8,800. (Max) We paid 17k Normal mark up for most remodeling companies is approx 50% which would be around 13k (max). If I wouldn't have been all over this job myself, I would have ended up with a washroom with bad floor, & electrical that didn't meet code. (They also lost my central air outlet cover & left me with hole in ceiling) read more

This place will NEVER get any of my business. First of all, their repeated visits to my front door have become more than annoying. Secondly, one of the salesman that came to my door commented on how my "some sort of vinyl windows" look old and drafty. The very same windows that I installed two weeks before he showed up. Third, their constant calling has finally made me answer the phone, only to find out that somehow, from North Carolina, they could tell I needed a new roof. Once again, the very same roof I had replaced 2 years ago!! These "salesmen" are clearly reading from a card or must have the speech memorized. It's like they don't even look at the house, they just begin with whatever bullshit they are spewing. I hope the owner of this "business" is happy to see where his company is headed. they called me asking if I would like any replacements done on the home I said yes come give me an estimate I won't buy that day but I will listen. The salesman came nice older guy my age talked about the windows I needed replaced 21 and 2 bay windows I asked for a written quote of how much each window cost and how much installation would be for each window would not give me any written estimates as soon as I told him I wouldn't be buying that day his attitude changed, I told him I let the woman who I talked to I wouldn't be buying that day she said that didn't matter I asked him to measure the windows he said no I asked why he said your not buying today I said your right, but your quote is supposed to be good for one year well he gave me a ballpark price using their cheapest windows he said the top of line windows with all the bells and top of the line stuff would be about 1500 per window and they had a second grade for about 1200 per window and the third were about 550 plus 150 per each installed not counting the bay windows the total with 21 windows and 2 bay windows and new roofs over them would be around 28,000 again nothing in writing he told me he don't do that he's 68 yrs old and retired he left me a card but again nothing in writing I never did get to look at any of his windows it's too bad I really liked the salesman who came by he seemed honest but no written things no way I own a business and always give something in writing read more

The roof was easy and quick, however, there was a leak. I know leaks are hard to find, but Sue, in customer service, has been great. Someone has come out several times, but the leak is a tricky one. I still need the leak taken care of, but I have confidence that Sue will make sure that I am satisfied completely. That is why I could only give 3 stars not 4 or 5. Once the leak is gone, I can reevaluate my review. read more

H.D 10/25/2016 One of the Install America roofing solicitor ring on our door asking whether they can give us a quote to our roof. We thought of changing our roof sometime in the near future. Therefore, I agreed to schedule an appointment for them to come and give us an estimate. When their sales/marketing manager (Anthony) came to our house, he gave us a quote which I think it's very expensive for a 1300 sq feet roof. But he managed to convince us that there's some discount that we can take advantage of if we sign the contract on the same day. He also said that in case we change our mind, we have three (3) days to cancel (which is 10/25/2016 is the last day to cancel). So, we did signed the contract on the same day (Saturday). I talked to my friend about the estimate that Install America gave us, she said it's overpriced. So, I called the sales/marketing manager (Anthony) to cancel the project. He said that he cannot help me; I had to talk to his boss. He gave me his boss phone number and I called, one of the staff said, the boss was not available. He said that I could leave a message and he'll asked his boss to call me back. Unfortunately, it never happend. Long story short, the bottom line was, they gave you run around from one person to the other and, promised you they will call you back and cancel the contract which they never did. Until I received an alert from the credit company stating Install America did a credit inquiry on us. I called again. Finally, I got to talk to the boss and told him I already cancelled the contract on Monday and on Tuesday again. He said that he's going to cancel but he needs to meet me to sign off the contract next week (first week of Nov). So, lesson learned. I suggest that people need to think twice before signing anything with Install America. Once contract is signed, it's very difficult to cancel. read more

They didn't show up when they said they would had to take off 3 days of work for no one to show up. When I called to find out why they didn't show up they I got the voicemail of the people I spoke with. So I called for the operator they transferred me to the person who I just left a voicemail with and told me they had the wrong date after it They do not communicate with each other or the customer it felt like a borderline scam the way this was played. When I called to get my money back they gave me the run around until I finally got it back. Save your time/money/energy and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING!
