We love Insomnia, but this was strange... the ice cream and cookie was still good, but the packaging made the experience a waste of money. Instead of a bowl, like NORMAL, the $8 cookie/ice cream loveliness was put on a plate??? ... Uhhhhh- when you are riding home in a car, wanting to enjoy said $8 concoction, a plate does nothing to help with ice cream that is melting and a cookie that must be cut into. I discovered Insomnia Cookies on one of my early trips to Lubbock to pick up or drop off my kiddo in college. It's one of my go to spots when I have a sweet tooth and need a little snack back at the hotel. This location is located right across from Texas Tech, walking distance to most of the dorms and college apartments nearby. It's kind of genius actually. What I would like to think is that these studious students stay up late studying and need a little snack to get them through it. This place stays open late on weekdays and extra late on the weekends. I have also observed what looks like students with the munchies, but hey, I'm not here to judge! Every time I have come in, I am always helped by young college students and they do a great job greeting customers and keeping the line moving. Cookies is their game, but they also have brownies and ice cream as well. They have all your classics such as chocolate chip, peanut butter, sugar cookie, etc. These are good and are a little smaller in size than the deluxe cookies. The deluxe cookies are more unique flavors, bigger in size and of course a little more expensive. We typically got with the deluxe combo which comes with two deluxe cookies and a milk. I love the s'mores and chocolate peanut butter cup. These cookies are huge and I usually save one for the drive home. They always come warm and soft and pair well with an ice cold milk of your choice. They do have vegan options for cookies and non dairy options for beverages. Something for everyone really. Insomnia Cookies is a chain and I just discovered they have one in my city as well. There is no shortage of cookie businesses, but this place will stay in my rotation when that sweet tooth hits. read more

We pulled up at 12:31pm on Sunday afternoon and the door was locked. We checked the time and they were supposed to be open. We sat in the car and watched the employee go into the bathroom? So my sister got out the vehicle and knocked on the door a few times... eventually a woman came out the bathroom looking pissed and unlocked the door and looked at us like we were bothering her. She looked aggressive and there was no way we were going in there. Their cookies while good are very much overpriced for taste. And while other cookie places such as crumbl have decadent and often overpowering flavors, insomnia provides a quality barely above home baked flavors. They are good cookies but don't have the same kick as much of their competitors. Even though the frosted sugar cookies from Walmart are a lower quality, they have a more distinct flavor with better value. I had ordered a dozen cookies and a cookie cake for my freshman son for his birthday. It was the first birthday I was going to spend not with him, so I wanted him to be able to celebrate with friends and some cookies. I ordered the cookies 48 hours before his birthday. On the day of the delivery, I received a notification that there was a problem with the order 45 minutes after they were supposed to be delivered and that I needed to contact the store. When I contacted the store, I was of course frustrated. However, Hailey listened to my concerns and apologized for the issues. She wanted to make things right and told me that she would be refunding my order. But not only that, she ended up sending me an electronic gift card to order from them again! They weren't kidding me when they said this place is expensive at ass! Came here about 11 p.m and ordered two cookies which were about the regular price but I would expect to pay two or three dollars but for a small milk at $3.30 each I guess I deserved it for not bringing a gallon of milk with me from the store at first. The counter help was somewhat friendly and it was comical seeing the other co-worker burn the cashiers butt or whatever made him jump up. $15 lighter coming out with two cookies and two itty-bitty milks I took them home to try them soaking in my own bloody bathing wallet demise I came up with the conclusions that be cookies definitely were worth it 100%, I mean those things melted in my mouth but also my fingers. So good it's a good thing these people don't make toilet paper because my fingers would have really poked through the other side! We were here a few weeks ago and it was disorganized and goofy but the staff that night delivered cookies and ice cream...well actually not a delivery order, but they came through with our order. I ordered the SIX PACK with a variety of flavors - SNICKERDOODLE, PEANUT BUTTER, CHOCOLATE CHUNK, WHITE CHOCO MACADAMIA, OATMEAL RAISIN, and CHOCO MINT. The clear winner was the Peanut Butter cookie! Awesome bits of PB nestled in the dough and melted in your mouth. I really did love all the other flavors but the PB COOKIE blew me away. Really disappointing... I've ordered online for delivery many times in the past but after this experience it may be the last time. I've placed orders both through DoorDash (Insomnia still delivers the cookies not a DoorDash driver) and also directly through the Insomnia website and I've never had problems up until now. I placed an order via DoorDash at 11:41 PM and it said would be an estimated 20-45 minute delivery which isn't a big deal since it was a Saturday night in a college town. I finally got a text at 12:37am that the driver was en route, so normally I expected my order to arrive within the next 15ish minutes... what I didn't expect is 30 minutes and still no cookies. My boyfriend called the store and asked what was going on and the lady on the phone told him that there was a mix up with the driver and that the order will be there soon and when he called again 15 minutes later because there was still no delivery the store did not mute themselves and we could hear the said driver announce "nah I delivered that sh*t". I've been to insomnia almost every day since its opened. I first heard of it from my friend who lives in Ithica and I was always craving to try it! We are the first branch to be opened in all of Texas! So, all of this is pretty special already. Upon entering the establishment the a wave of cool air and the smell of cookies hits you almost immediately. Every time I have been there the place (while small) is kept very tidy and presentable. The milk and waters are offered at the right side, along with some booths to sit in. Overall the place inside doesn't contain much but can surprisingly pack in a lot of people! My general favorite cookies are the traditional chocolate chip, but I also have a thing for s'mores. The first time I tried their S'mores deluxe cookie I felt I was drowning in chocolate because of the gooey warm goodness. Death by chocolate isn't that bad of a way to go, huh? Each cookie is made and warm to order, which sometimes might lead to a wait but always worth it! They have over 10 combinations of cookies, not including their brownies and ice cream combos. Many people usually order their cookie ice cream sandwich- if you're into that. Me, I'm more traditional. While, they do not deliver to all places in lubbock, I think its worth to stop on by. Called and tried to place an order, apparently when you call the number of where you are located, the call is sent to an 800 ordering hotline. The girl that answered the phone knows nothing of phone etiquette. I went thru most of the ordering process with her, then when it came to where package was to be delivered, should had no clue as to where the order was going to be dropped. It's Sunday, July 7th at 8:20pm and just walked out of Insomnia after standing at the counter for exactly 11 minutes while the guy in the back put cookies on a pan. He did come up and say I will be right with you then proceeded to walk back to making cookies for another 10 minutes.
