I've been coming to the donut shop for a couple years now. However, the last two or three times I've been recently, I have had terrible customer service. I'm not sure who the owners have hired recently, but the high school or college students they have working in the mornings need an attitude check. I know people have rough mornings, but when it happens on more than one occasion, I don't support businesses that give customers a bad start to their day. There are other Rise N Shine donut shops in Lubbock, do yourself a favor and see if they have better customer service before coming to this location. read more

Lubbock really does not have a great donut shop. Rise n Shine is the best I have found so far.

I see these people leaving non 5 star reviews and I wonder what better place there is in town. They have the largest portions of everything I've ever seen, from the doughnuts, lol aches and breakfast sandwiches. My husband loved the burrito and the doughnuts were an 11 out of ten. Sure they aren't ultra friendly but I feel it's more of a language barrier, the owner goes in at 130am every morning yet people slander their hard work because they have a minimum on credit card which half the businesses on the planet have, it's because of the outrageous fees credit card companies charge. Went to this location by accident and in need of Red Velvet donuts. Here (6400 Frankfort not the 410 Frankfort) on Sunday morning at 6:15a & Ordered a box of our family's favorite donut --the red velvet and they were NOT fresh. Instead of soft and delicious. Well, after years of enjoying Rise N Shine, I am done. Walked in today and ordered my usual. Came to a total of just under 4 bucks. I gave the cashier my credit card and was greeted with, "our minimum credit card charge is $5." Her manager confirmed the limit and then told me she'd take my card. As they are processing the card, both the snarky manager and rude cashier said, "we will do it this time, but not again. YOU need to know the policy..." Well, I don't NEED to know any more than they have zero concern and interest in customer service. None. I also don't NEED their product. I left their product, paid for on the counter, and vowed to never return to Rise n Shine Donut. As I left, the response from the rude cashier, "have a nice day." read more

Immediately when entering Rise N Shine, you are overcome with a blast of sugary air that's bound to put a smile across your face. We stumbled across this little gem during our impromptu road trip stop in Lubbock and picked up a sweet start to our day. My 2 year old instantaneously set his sights on a pile of pillowy doughnut holes drizzled with pink frosting and sprinkles. These were surprisingly tasty, with a very cute presentation. After a quick scan of the case, I spotted a tray of golden brown apple fritters the size of my head. No joke, those babies are huge!! The fritter was slightly crunchy on the outside, with a wonderful soft inside. Delicious!! I just left this business. I ordered 2 burritos one for myself and one for a friend that had never tried them from this business. They had me pull up to wait. No biggy. I realized that i ordered cheese instead of egg on my friends burrito. I called quickly and asked them to change my mistake. When they bring out the order i am told by the lady there is an up charge for egg. No biggy. I try to hand her back my card. She says no card for under 5.00. I already spent over 10.00 but ok no biggy. She then preceeds to make me feel like a criminal for not having a dollar and says "thats why we ask at the window". Ok i made a mistake. She tells me to bring the dollar back later. Ok will do. I think as i drive off maybe she wants me to venmo since the dollar is so important. I call and am told again "that is why we ask at the window" my complaint dont mess up on your order wt this location or you will be treated like crap! Ruined my morning wont go back! read more

Doughnuts r great!! But i had my 20oz thermos cup and they couldn't fill it?? Mayb company policy?? No refills?? But other then that and young high school kids behind counter dont even acknowledge u enter at 6;25 w/ a good morning... mayb im just old fashion... expect better manners from a place of business.... I love having little spots like this in my neighborhood. Rise N Shine isn't quite what you expect from the outside but it is everything you didn't know you needed on the inside. Best breakfast burritos in Lubbock by far! The service is always friendly and the store gives you the feeling of being the neighborhood hang out in a good way. My wife and I come grab donuts here a couple times a month and are always satisfied. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Though the place is clean, it's not really a space I'd want to hang around in for long, so we typically just go through the drive though. I haven't tried the coffee or much of anything else on the menu. The donuts alone have earned my loyalty. read more

Rise and Shine has the best doughnuts in Lubbock in my humble but accurate opinion. :) I've visited maybe 4-5 other r&s locations in Lubbock over the past 5 years. I usually use the drive through service because it's usually a crazy busy morning where I'm looking to doughnuts to raise my spirit. And they do (unless I make a mistake and choose another doughnut place in which case I severely regret my decision and wonder how crazy it is to get more doughnuts from a r&s...). This location in particular really impressed me the other day when I went with a friend and chose to eat in the store. The store is so much bigger than it appears from the outside! There was plenty of seating, great natural light, and a fish tank! The place was clean and inviting. Most impressive of all was the staff. I am so used to the rushed and efficient manner of many doughnut shops that it caught me off guard when the woman who was serving us asked us some friendly questions. She was genuinely interested in our days and how we were doing. It was a really nice start to our day to have a friendly conversation. Another plus is that they had Halloween candy out for children! Because obviously if you're buying doughnuts for your kids you want them to also pop a couple of snickers real quick. ;) The glazed doughnuts are always warm and melty. Mmmm. I love warm melty doughnut so much that I usually bypass my favorite, blueberry cake, because I know that if I get a glazed it will be fresh and delicious. The kolaches are also really good! They have regular and jalapeño. Small and large. I always get a small regular with one other sweet doughnut. If you get a large and want to add something sweet to your order then you better have 8 stomaches to store all that food in. Go to this rise and shine. You won't regret it! read more

If you go through the drive up on the weekend be prepared to wait in line for a bit. Even though there is a Dunkin less than a mile away the neighborhood likes these donuts best. They also serve various breakfast items as well, so anyone can get something they like. read more

I really have to give up my doughnut addiction, but Rise and Shine on Frankford makes it sooooo difficult! Believe me...they are the best! The few times they have been closed, I have tried other Rise and Shine shops and they do not even come close to the quality and deliciousness of The Rise and Shine on Frankford. They are also consistent! The doughnuts are always soft and fresh and yummy! Thank you for being one of my favorite comfort foods this past year! I lost my 21-year-old son in an accident a year ago and seriously...some days knowing I could get a doughnut was the only thing that got me out of bed! Sad...I know...but true! Don't go here. Run as fast as you can to another donut shop. It's not Rise n' Shine donuts that's the problem. There are other Rise n' Shine stores and go to one of them. The service at this one is beyond rude. I've been twice thinking the first time was just my problem but it wasn't. The people working are unbelievably rude. They won't write down my order nor grab them off the shelf while I'm asking for them. They think they can remember and then ask you over and over to repeat yourself. Once, I ordered a dozen donuts and the lady huffed at me like it was too much work for her. Friendly service. Reg glaze donuts were really good. Soft and melted in my mouth. Cinnamon rolls are the large size and not bad. Bacon egg cheese croissant was really good. From out of town and getting tired of same hot hotel breakfast. Needed a change and this was a great alternative. read more

Donuts are fair. Jalapeño kolache add $1.00 compared to the regular donuts. Service was once excellent, now the lady barely cracks the window and whispers what do you want. You tell her and she walks away, does not even acknowledge your order. I find it quite rude. They also take money with the same gloves they get your donut with, big no no! Their cars are always parked along the back of the building rather than the spots provided making the drive thru difficult. Due to service the fair food no longer makes it worth going. read more
