Without question, this location is my favorite donut shop in town. I have tried Krispy Kreme, Donut Stop, Dunkin Donuts and the various supermarkets around town; none of them compare to Rise 'N Shine. If you want the most perfectly balanced Jalapeño Kolaches, this is the place to get them. I don't know how they do their dough, or how they bake them to perfection so consistently, but it's unmatched so far in my experience. Substantial, yet fluffy, with an absolutely delicious sausage inside. One jumbo kolache is a good breakfast when coupled with no small amount of self control; (I have been known to eat two without blinking) Plain Glazed Donuts? How do you describe warm and somewhat spongy paradise dough mercifully yellow-browned and slathered with the most amazing glaze? It melts in your mouth with each chew, requiring the most perfect balance of texture and flavor. Not too sweet, not too spongy, but lighter than Dunkin' and heavier than Krispy Kreme. Consistently good! The service is super friendly at the drive thru. We always get a dozen, and they are good across the board. The cake doughnuts are tender and rich with loads of flavor. The yeast doughnuts are light and airy with a variety of toppings. Cinnamon rolls are huge and a fab treat. Coffee is good, not burned tasting or too strong. There can be a wait, but def worth it. This place has some really good donuts. I was worried they would be oily or dry as that's a common issue I've found out here in Lubbock, but they're pretty fluffy and large. I love their filled Long Johns. They actually fill each side with filling, so I'm not left with a half-fill LJ. And their donuts good in size. Definitely recommend. Only complaint is their drive-thru; too bumpy. read more

I don't have a big sweet tooth (especially in the morning) so I've never had the donuts here. However, the burritos here are very good - I recommend the sausage egg and cheese for anyone interested. Also, the salsa they serve for the burritos is spicy and fresh. The staff is very kind and helpful every time I visit. read more

My only strike against this donut shop is that it's too far from my house; however, the fact that it's not Krispy Kreme more then helps to make up for it. The staff is not always as friendly as the other locations, but when you have to go to work at 4am to make donuts you're allowed to be a little grumpy i guess. read more

No complaints here. Came in, and came out very quickly! I was served immediately. I got three pastries; Cinnamon roll, Cinnamon Twist, & Boston Creme Pie. All three were delicious but nothing that stood out. It was not melt in your mouth goodness. Just good. Nothing bad about them. read more
