Great tasting homemade feel gluten free cookies. They only have that option so it's nice but wish they had more so I could justify the price and come more often. Didn't get a picture because it made its way to my stomach before I could. If you don't have a gluten allergy I definitely recommend it. We stopped by after lunch at trio with some friends because we had heard good things about insomnia cookies. Short Version: Insomnia Cookies is a decent little cookie place that sells fresh and warm individual cookies. They really weren't designed as an "eat-in" place, and their inability to take credit cards under $3 means you might have to plan an alternative way to pay. If you want to grab a warm cookie and go, though, it's worth stopping in. IMPORTANT NOTE! They do NOT take credit cards for orders under $3! Since an individual cookie is $1.35, you either need to buy three cookies, buy something else with your cookie, or pay cash! Long Version: Want cookies at any time? Insomnia Cookies is it. Located on Welch and open past 2AM (all the way up until 3AM to accomodate the drunk people who want cookies, I imagine), this is a neat little cookie store. They don't claim to have gourmet cookies, and they don't. They are your standard cookies such as chocolate chunk, sugar, peanut butter chip, oatmeal raisin, M&M, and others. Nothing particularly gourmet about these. Cookie tasted surprisingly good. Both my friend and I enjoyed their Chocolate Chunk cookie. The cookie is warmed, so the chocolate was nice and gooey when eating it. The cookie tasted fresh, and it was soft and delicious to eat. It wasn't particularly small either. I know I can get 3/$1 for a batch of chocolate chip cookies at the grocery store, but I feel like the $1.35 is a relatively fair price considering the cookie is very fresh and warmed. It seems worth it. Interior seating is virtually non-existant. There is no exterior seating. The interior only has a small window-view bar with four stools. It's a very, very small building, and it's clear it was mostly intended for "Grab and go" eating. Interior seems clean enough, though - but it comes across as more cluttered than "professional interior design". But it gets their business across, and that's the important part. Insomnia cookies also sells ice cream. Apparently. They didn't seem to be selling it when I went into the store, but they had a small set-up inside. Mmmmm, late-night cookie delivery. COOKIES TIL 3AM! Clearly a cool addition to campus town, and they have a wide zone in which they're willing to deliver, too. I stopped in to check it out and try a cookie. They've got a small storefront area with a bit of seating, but mostly they look to be focused on delivery or grab-and-go. The workers were all very friendly and cheerful; they didn't push more cookies than we wanted, though they were willing to make suggestions if desired. I brought friends and shamelessly nibbled their selections as well as my own, so I got to try a Double Chocolate Mint cookie, an Oatmeal Raisin cookie, and a Snickerdoodle cookie. I admit, I kind of expected the cookies to be mediocre, because yeah, I'm biased against chain stores. But nope, I admit it -- these cookies were all great! I think the Oatmeal Raisin was best, but the others came in pretty close behind it. Warm and gooey and awesome, oh my. And $1.35, which is highly reasonable for a good, generously-sized cookie. They also have "jumbo deluxe" cookies ($2.75, and they were biiiiiig), brownies, ice cream, cakes, and frozen cookiewiches. They do various deals for larger orders, too. read more

My wife recently got to try one of these cookies at a work event and spoke highly of it, so today after work we stopped by enroute home and picked up a box of half a dozen. Now I'm a fan, too. I fully expect that my wife and I will be making many more visits here in the future. The cookies are not huge, but one of them with a glass of milk makes a perfectly satisfactory dessert. I had the chocolate chunk (like a standard chocolate chip cookie but with considerably bigger pieces of chocolate) and my wife had the double chocolate mint (chocolate cookie, chocolate chips and mint). I didn't try hers because I'm not a fan of mint chips, but she loved it. I also enjoyed my chocolate chunk cookie. It seemed quite fresh, reasonably thick, and tasted great. A nice touch was that the server warmed up our cookies before boxing them. They were still slightly warm even after we got home and finished dinner. Also in the box, awaiting tomorrow's dessert, is a double chocolate chunk (like the chocolate chunk but with a chocolate cookie). Customer service was excellent. We were the only people in the store when we stopped by (around 5 PM) so we got waited on promptly. The young woman behind the counter was pleasant and efficient and answered our questions promptly. The cookies aren't cheap. The three varieties specified above are "traditional" cookies and sell for about $1.75 each; a six-pack such as the one we bought costs $8.80, so you save almost two dollars by buying that. There is also a "deluxe" cookie that looks a bit bigger but costs something like three dollars; we didn't get that, so I can't comment on it. The store also sells other stuff, including ice cream, but again I can't comment on that. The name "insomnia cookies" derives from the fact that the store stays open, and in fact delivers, to 3 AM. That's not an option that I'll ever need to take advantage of, however, but I can see how students pulling an all-nighter might find that attractive. read more

Whoever was working tonight was EXTREMELY rude. Not sure what the issue was, but she was not welcoming the second we walked through the doors. After my mom ordered ice cream, the girl stared at her and said nothing. She didn't start getting ice cream, she didn't grab a cup, ask what size she wanted, nothing. She just stared. I assumed she hadn't heard what my mom said, so I repeated her order. The employee replied, "Oh I heard her, I just thought she was going to ask for another flavor." So you were just waiting? Until what? How about asking what else she would like instead of just STARING AND NOT DOING ANYTHING. Then my dad and brother came to meet us and as soon as they came in, the worker went straight to the freezer without saying anything to anyone. She was hiding in the back and making a lot of commotion, rummaging through the freezer. We were eating the cookies we had purchased, then decided to get some waters as well. My dad went to the counter to purchase the waters and the girl could see him in her peripherals, but said nothing and continued digging through the freezer. My dad kindly said, "Excuse me?" after waiting at the counter for 5 minutes without being addressed. The employee responds snarkily with, "Um YEAH I saw you, I already said it's going to be a minute because they (referring to my mom and I) bought product so I have to put more out." My dad was in such shock at the way she had responded, he just simply said, "Ok," and waited another 5 minutes before she came back over to ring up the waters. She didn't say that it was going to be a minute, so she straight up just lied about that. The customer service at this place was simply non-existent. She said something about how usually there's more people working, as if that were an acceptable excuse for treating us the way she had. Also, we were the only people in the shop. I almost considered buying the cake that read "sorry your day sucked," and then giving it to her because clearly something was going on, but we are not to blame. read more

We called insomniac cookies to deliver cookies to a friends daughter who had just gotten out of the hospital. Since we live out of state we were a little concerned about delivery etc but the person who we dealt with on the phone assured us twice that the address was in the delivery area and the cookies would be there at 5. By 7, no cookies. We called insomniac to find out what happened only to have them them tell us that the address was outside of the delivery area and they couldn't deliver, despite the fact that we had double checked with them before ordering and despite the fact that we confirmed that they had our phone number and should call if there were issues.
