The flavors were spot on, and there was surprisingly a large amount of frozen yogurt in my cup. The shake was yummy as well! I can't really speak on this service or the atmosphere seeing as we got a DoorDash delivery, but next time we definitely plan on going in. read more

Absolutely freezing in this place, employees look cold and have told me that they have to use space heaters to stay warm, this is disrespectful towards the employees health. Please fix the heat not only for your employees sake but for the comfort of your customers!! read more

This place is a mess! I watched two out of the three workers behind the counter scrolling away on their phone. Hey kids "working" behind the counter! Maybe take a moment away from your social media and actually do some work that you are getting paid for. May I suggest taking out the trash? The ice cream was good but that was about it. Being a broke college student, I am all about the deals going on around me! The cold couldn't keep me away from a great deal that Orange Leaf was having! A couple of friends and I went here for $5 fill-up on Wednesdays. Normally, you fill your cup with different varieties of frozen yogurt flavors, add the toppings, and however much your cup weighs translates to how much you pay. We were able to pack our cups as full as possible and only have to pay $5. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We have done this one other time, and the person behind the counter recognized us and held a conversation with us! We went late at night, so some of the better flavors were out. But other than that it was a wonderful experience. Side note: They also make their own doughnuts as well, so I will be going back soon to try those! read more

We thought the price for what we got was crazy! It tastes good, but for something we could have bought at a grocery store for the same price, if not cheaper. They do a lot of fundraisers which is nice so I'll give them that. read more

Time to give my old review an update: Orange Leaf is still the sole frozen yogurt establishment in Ames. Another establishment came...and went, and Orange Leaf was still left standing. However, now the crowds have slowed down a bit, and unless you come during dinner time or during a college event, you'll have no problem getting a seat - and usually its on one of their comfy couches too. Flavors are really growing on me. Their Coconut, Salted Caramel, and Coffee are literally some of the best I've tried. Other chains (Menchies, etc.) don't have nearly the creaminess and sweetness that Orange Leaf has. Still super frustrated that you can't get your own samples here. You have to wait for an employee to be free and they have to wash up and pour your sample for you. It's just an added annoying step that makes me feel less interested in trying new flavors. They've made improvements on staff too. Staff is still made up of mostly college students, but they're friendly, and they greet you when you walk in, are happy to answer questions and give you attention as necessary, and usually say "Goodbye" when I walk out. Orange Leaf is still very clean and doesn't look like it's years-old now. Very clean. Orange Leaf has a nutritional sheet posted right on the wall for easy viewing in case you have dietary limitations. (Their smoothies, however, are still pretty high-calorie, so if you're choosing yogurt for health reasons, you'll still probably want to give those a large birth.) Still a couple things the chain could improve on including sample design and listing nutritional information on the placards instead of in tiny print on a sheet, but it's an enjoyable experience now when I come. I've tried Fro-yo several times from here and never managed to finish the cup lol. Love their fill-your-cup for $5 deals.

Redecorated recently and a mini donut station added, the place is clean, family friendly, with friendly staff. Products are a bit pricey, but VERY good tasting, especially on a hot day. I had a glazed mini blueberry donut and some froyo and both were very good. The donut has slightly crispy edges, with warm flavorful inside. This establishment has excellent customer service. I have a severe peanut/tree nut allergy and instead of acting like it was a huge inconvenience, the employee accommodated me willingly. She was VERY understanding and seemed to be happy to accommodate the allergy. read more

The first choice at Orange Leaf is between the tub suited for a small popcorn or the tub suited for a medium popcorn. The bowls here are enormous. Orange Leaf is one of the growing number of self-serve fro-yo places that have appeared in Iowa. Here's how it works: You dump frozen yogurt from one of 12 different selections in to your kiddie-pool sized bowl. A lot of good choices here: PB, red velvet, brownie batter, etc. Put in as much, or as little as you like. Mix and match then proceed to the toppings bar where you can pick from ground up candies, fruit and nuts. They weigh it out and you "buy in bulk" at .34 cents an ounce. Careful, you can get really carried away in your mixology here like my wife did. I ended up paying $13 for two of the smaller sized bowls. The frozen yogurt is really good. Smooth and creamy with a lot of interesting flavors to choose from. I appreciated the quality of the ice cream an the toppings. I liked the whole cashews that were available. High-quality ingredients and a fun way to assemble your own dessert. The clean and modern interior design was a nice change of pace as well. I look forward to coming here again, and with the skills to know to keep the portions smaller probably have a reasonably priced snack. read more

Had such a nice time here over the weekend. The customer service was great. The frozen yogurt was refreshing and delicious. I liked the orange flavor a lot, and the pineapple. Fro-yo! Choose your bowl size, fill it with whatever assortment of frozen yogurt flavors you like (they have constantly-rotating options, ten or so at a time), and top it at the toppings bar (lots of options, from fruit to candies to boba--the "bubbles" in bubble tea--to nuts to various syrups). The seating is a little odd, very short/small chairs at short tables--pretty typical for a fro-yo place, though. We usually sit outside in the lounge chairs, if the weather's nice. The atmosphere is fun--bright colors, good lighting, very clean. Staff has always been cheerful and helpful. To me, the most important thing is the options--this place has lots of them, and they change often enough that I'm always trying new flavors. read more

I love Orange Leaf! This is probably my most favorite frozen yogurt place in the United States. I love the constantly changing fresh froyo flavors and huge variety of fresh toppings. I love that each of the flavors actually tastes like the flavor it's supposed to be. I have been here several times for the donuts. They are a bit pricey but delicious! They are always made fresh and are some of the best donuts I've ever had. The staff has always been very friendly and patient while I pick out flavors. I would come here more often if they sales or rewards options. read more

Stopped in tonight for frozen yogurt to go. This is a typical self service place. Several people were there ahead of us. We only had a brief wait for toppings but I could see this really backing up if it was busy. Frozen yogurt selection was good - not great, but good. There were several similar flavours that might be better replaced with more variety. I was a little sad they didn't have hot chocolate sauce to put on top of my yogurt. Most places I've been to have this, but they only had a room temperature squeeze bottle. Their selection of fruit toppings was very limited but they had a wide range of candy toppings - pretty much whatever popular candy you can think of is there. Employees were friendly and chatted with us. The girl in charge of the toppings was on the ball, and constantly tending to the topping bar, correcting everything that was even a little out of place. I didn't catch her name, but she was very committed to her job. If I was hiring someone to tend a topping bar, she's the one I'd hire. Overall, I'd say it was a good experience. I love Orange Leaf! I haven't had any real experience with frozen yogurt before Orange Leaf since I was a kid and TCBY was open in Ames. I love ice cream and figured I would love froyo just as much. I found I out I actually like it even more than I like ice cream! Orange Leaf is a trendy, cool place to spend a hot summer afternoon or evening, but I like it so much that I'll go in the middle of winter when I'm craving something sweet. The orange and green colors are awesome, especially the wall with the shiny tiles where the froyo dispensers are located. There are always at least 10 varieties to chose from and those vary depending on the time of year. Another advantage of winter is they have Peppermint, my favorite! The classic tart is another favorite, plain and simple but just right. You can't go wrong no matter what you're craving. The topping bar is plentiful including hot syrups and sauces to pour over your delicious dish of froyo. Prices are a little high but no higher than any other place in Ames being a college community. Thanks to the friendly staff at Orange Leaf and thank you to the owners for opening a franchise here! I love Orange Leaf and look forward to enjoying it in Ames for many, many, many years to come! read more
