a spoon full of ice cream

Went to the Dairy Queen off Lincoln Way for a treat with my boyfriend. I'm from out of town and never had a bad experience until coming to Ames. I was enjoying my strawberry cheesecake blizzard like i usually do time to time. I was halfway through my blizzard when i found an absolutely disgusting hair in my ice cream. This is extremely unacceptable. I am utterly disgusted by this occurrence and i will NOT be giving this Dairy Queen any business any time soon. The two star rating is only because my boyfriend had a much better experience than me. Next time i want a sweet treat I'm going to Cold Stone for better quality ice cream and better quality service. Do better Dairy Queen

I had a mini Jurassic Park blizzard and it was sooo good! Clean place. Friendly staff. Family friendly. Prices typical for Dairy Queen. Outside, inside, chair and booth seating. Lot parking. Marcy'sDinerTantrumScale 5/5 Super Bowl evening. Went out to do laundry and get a bite to eat. The DQ app for smartphones is very nice. See pic. The fries were crisp outside and soft inside and tasted great dipped in gravy. The chicken planks were also very good. This is a child's meal, but just enough, for those of us who are older or not wanting as much to eat. Clean. Friendly staff. Family friendly. Lot parking. Good prices. Sunday was our last full day in Iowa, and after returning from West Des Moines to see my Sister and her family, Gayle wanted one last chance to DQ. This Lincoln Way location was our well considered choice. Yes, there is better ice cream out there, but our shared Midwest traditions around Dilly Bars, Buster Bars, and Blizzards are very comforting. Gayle particularly likes a vanilla cone, dipped in chocolate, and Reason #5 on why she loves Iowa. BTW, Reason #1 is the Butter Cow at the Iowa State Fair.

If you want to listen to workers screaming and swearing inside (while you're in your car in the drive through) come here!! Great time!

It looks like most of the parking in the area is dedicated to staff and permits. We found a few metered spots down the street on Wallace and Beach. We tried cardinal tracks (chocolate ice cream with chocolate-covered raspberry cups and fudge swirls) and business brew (espresso and vanilla ice cream with espresso flakes and fudge swirls). The cardinal tracks were good but the espresso flavors from the business brew was nowhere to be found. It just tasted like another chocolate ice cream.

You may have to hike a little bit to get there, but the flavors on offer are more than ample reward. Be warned, however: in addition to being delicious, many of their flavors are riiiiich, so you may be tempted to use the little hand-wash sink in the small seating area to grab a quick swallow of water. Don't do it, you philistine! There are restrooms just down the hall with a drinking fountain you can use. Also, be sure to visit the courtyard on the ground level, and their awesome 'tribute to the Art of Dairy' cow-fountain, replete with bas-reliefs of the various stages of milk production.
