I know the name of the place is "Chipotle", but for some reason, I didn't think that meant everything was going to be spicy. I thought you could choose; that's on me. I wasn't able to finish my food due to the spice level :( The quantity and quality of the ingredients were great though! Super fresh and full of flavor. The drink options are great too; they even have a small beer selection. Service: All of the staff were really friendly. They were quick, efficient, and attentive. Even though it was busy, they were patient with customers who hadn't made up their minds yet and always had a smile on their faces. Ambiance: Inside wasn't the cleanest and it was pretty loud. It may have just been because it was around dinner rush and they weren't able to clean up, but the only two clean tables inside were occupied, so we chose to sit outside. Between the noise from the customers, the noise from the employees working/cooking, and the noise from the ventilation system, it was pretty overwhelming, so the outside traffic noise was preferred. I don't normally leave reviews, but our recent visit to the Chipotle in Ames deserves one--and not in a good way. From start to finish, this was one of the worst fast-casual dining experiences I've had. First, the white rice was undercooked. Crunchy grains in a burrito bowl is not what anyone expects from a restaurant that supposedly prides itself on fresh, quality ingredients. To make matters worse, they had completely run out of flour tortillas. At a Mexican-style chain, that's beyond unacceptable. The portion sizes were skimpy. My wife had to specifically ask the server for more beans because the amount she was given was laughable. Paying full price for half-filled bowls isn't exactly a value. The dining area was filthy--tables left unwiped, floors sticky, and trash bins overflowing. It felt like nobody cared about keeping the place even minimally clean. Overall, this was not a great experience. Between the poorly prepared food, lack of basic ingredients, stingy portions, and unclean environment, this location really needs some serious management attention. We left disappointed and won't be in a hurry to come back. I will say that the staff was friendly. read more

I've always been a big fan of Chipotle, but over the past few months my experiences at this location have been consistently disappointing. I actually stopped eating here for two to three months because of the extremely small portion sizes--both when ordering in store and through the Chipotle app. The last time I went in, I asked for extra portions of several items, mainly because the standard serving sizes are noticeably skimpy. It often feels like you have to practically beg for a reasonable amount of food. The staff act as though you're asking for too much, even when you're paying extra. At times, it seems like they'd take food back out of your bowl if they felt it was more than they wanted to give. On top of that, this location almost never has sour cream or fajita vegetables available when I order. When they're out, there's little to no effort to prepare more, despite these being some of the easiest and quickest items to make. This store clearly needs better management and stronger oversight. If leadership paid closer attention to customer reviews, the overall experience here could improve significantly--and customers would definitely notice and appreciate it. read more

i literally downloaded yelp to write this! I love chipotle and i'm so disappointed and honestly grossed out at this one! We paid a lot and didn't get half of what we ordered, what we did get was incorrect. The lady working there was obviously not correctly trained, she was dropping stuff, ignoring me when i said something, and couldn't figure out orders. The front door is still broken. Based on an earlier review, that makes it over a month. Arrived at 4:50pm on Saturday and told it would be 5-10 minutes for chicken or steak. Waited 10 minutes and asked about the chicken. The grill was full of chicken. They said that actually, there wouldn't be any more chicken tonight as they had a large catering order and that all the chicken was for that. As usual though, I could order a burrito online and get chicken - WTH? Two weeks ago the burrito press out front was broken so they couldn't make burritos if you walked in. But again, they could do burritos ordered online because the press in the back worked. But the employee said he wasn't able to take a pressed tortilla from the back to make a burrito up front. 50% of the time there is no ice. This location consistently is out of one or more ingredients and the tables are not clean. I give up and won't even try it again. read more

Before the football game we were wanting a quick meal. We got to the door only for there to be a note inside that they were only accepting mobile orders. We went back to the car and put our mobile order in and waited 15 minutes for the order to be ready. I looked at past reviews and this looks common for this location. They closed 30 minutes early and they aren't ever open, every-time I go in they always say they're online only but they have like 7 workers on a shift? like what? This Chipotle has the dumbest rule ever! I can only order a full-size chicken&cheese quesadilla using the app. You can walk-in and order a kid-sized quesadilla but not a large one. Chiptole as a brand is known for their consistency. This location is an outlier sadly, and could GREATLY use some more attention from higher ups. The rice has been crunchy all but one visit (3 in the last 6 months) at first I gave the benefit of the doubt, maybe because they were close to closing? Not the case. It's been all times. Did not get what I ordered. I ordered a rice bowl with extra rice, beans, cheese, and fajita veggies and then normal corn salsa and green salsa. When I got my order there was no extra rice, beans, or cheese, and no Fajita veggies or corn salsa at all. All the Ingredients for a pickup order are printed out and put on the lid of the order, so I'm not sure why this was even a problem. Unfortunately I didn't notice until I got home and so I tried their help feature in the app which did nothing but give me a free beverage which does not make up for this problem. very rude employees!! i walk in at night sometimes this one girl gives me a blank stare or an annoyed look. this location is often out of chips by mid day or end of the night and when i ask for a refund i get a cold response of "the support number is in the bag." but no apology. they are stingy on bowl orders. i was given a moldy tortilla once. last night i got steak instead of chicken but i do not eat red meat, and my bf was given sour cream on his bowl which he strongly dislikes. the store is pretty neat and clean, and service is usually fast but boy could these employees shape up a bit! i work in food service and i would never let mistakes like those happen. read more

The first time I came here it was alright besides the prices for little portions of meat, even with double meat. The second time I came my wife and I decided to try the steak which still looked a bit rare which we don't eat. I've worked for chipotle in Chicago at one of the most busiest locations in the past and when customers ask for extra as long as it wasn't meat we gave to them with no problem. This wasn't the case, I asked a gentleman if he can put the steak in some foil and on the grill for me he looked at me than went to ask someone else which I'm going to assume was the shift leader and he tells me "it's already cooked" I explained to him "we like ours well done" he goes to say "so does everyone else" I then asked him "ok so it's a problem for you to do it even if I'm ok to wait and it's still red" he says "well I have stuff to do". And that's exactly how it went, we barely go out to eat because we always have these issues where someone either had a problem with satisfying us by simple tasks or they tried to shorten us by food. I don't normally do reviews unless it's for people who deserve them. I'm not sure if it's because they have children working who only cares about getting their paycheck, which I understand but you can also do your job by making the customers happy. Especially for overpriced food and rice that wasn't even done the first time we went. read more
