Went to Ames on a road trip and decided to visit this Chipotle not thinking anything special of it but the Cashier with the septum piercing was very kind and helpful. She answered any questions i had about the food and was friendly. The food was alright but the rice was extremely undercooked and crunchy but atleast the service was good overall. Glad to see Chipotle still hires good employees to represent them, these days the grumpy apathetic cashier is all too common at these kind of places. read more

9/30/25 5:30 p.m. Dine-in Food: The flavor was great, but it was too spicy for me, unfortunately. I know the name of the place is "Chipotle", but for some reason, I didn't think that meant everything was going to be spicy. I thought you could choose; that's on me. I wasn't able to finish my food due to the spice level :( The quantity and quality of the ingredients were great though! Super fresh and full of flavor. The drink options are great too; they even have a small beer selection. Service: All of the staff were really friendly. They were quick, efficient, and attentive. Even though it was busy, they were patient with customers who hadn't made up their minds yet and always had a smile on their faces. Ambiance: Inside wasn't the cleanest and it was pretty loud. It may have just been because it was around dinner rush and they weren't able to clean up, but the only two clean tables inside were occupied, so we chose to sit outside. Between the noise from the customers, the noise from the employees working/cooking, and the noise from the ventilation system, it was pretty overwhelming, so the outside traffic noise was preferred. Thankfully, the tables outside were shaded by the building around that time and it was pretty clean out there. read more

Chipotle Mexican Grill - Build Your Own Burrito Bowl - Mexican Near Me - Ames, Iowa

I've seen bad reviews about chipotle around social media, but the truth is... Chipotle is still be the best quality/quantity you can buy with your money. Complaints about skimping make no sense when you can just ask them for extra of any topping. Staff are hard working, and friendly. Will be going a lot read more

I don't normally leave reviews, but our recent visit to the Chipotle in Ames deserves one--and not in a good way. From start to finish, this was one of the worst fast-casual dining experiences I've had. First, the white rice was undercooked. Crunchy grains in a burrito bowl is not what anyone expects from a restaurant that supposedly prides itself on fresh, quality ingredients. To make matters worse, they had completely run out of flour tortillas. At a Mexican-style chain, that's beyond unacceptable. The portion sizes were skimpy. My wife had to specifically ask the server for more beans because the amount she was given was laughable. Paying full price for half-filled bowls isn't exactly a value. The dining area was filthy--tables left unwiped, floors sticky, and trash bins overflowing. It felt like nobody cared about keeping the place even minimally clean. Overall, this was not a great experience. Between the poorly prepared food, lack of basic ingredients, stingy portions, and unclean environment, this location really needs some serious management attention. We left disappointed and won't be in a hurry to come back. I will say that the staff was friendly. read more

Peak Chipoltle best of my life how tf does this place have 2 stars, manager was very friendly

I've always been a big fan of Chipotle, but over the past few months my experiences at this location have been consistently disappointing. I actually stopped eating here for two to three months because of the extremely small portion sizes--both when ordering in store and through the Chipotle app. The last time I went in, I asked for extra portions of several items, mainly because the standard serving sizes are noticeably skimpy. It often feels like you have to practically beg for a reasonable amount of food. The staff act as though you're asking for too much, even when you're paying extra. At times, it seems like they'd take food back out of your bowl if they felt it was more than they wanted to give. On top of that, this location almost never has sour cream or fajita vegetables available when I order. When they're out, there's little to no effort to prepare more, despite these being some of the easiest and quickest items to make. This store clearly needs better management and stronger oversight. If leadership paid closer attention to customer reviews, the overall experience here could improve significantly--and customers would definitely notice and appreciate it. read more

i literally downloaded yelp to write this! I love chipotle and i'm so disappointed and honestly grossed out at this one! We paid a lot and didn't get half of what we ordered, what we did get was incorrect. The lady working there was obviously not correctly trained, she was dropping stuff, ignoring me when i said something, and couldn't figure out orders. The picture below is my friend's order which was completely wrong! This is not the first time this has happened also!!!! Tables were not cleaned and we ordered online and it wasn't ready for 30 minutes! There was literally no one there!!! read more

The front door is still broken. Based on an earlier review, that makes it over a month. Arrived at 4:50pm on Saturday and told it would be 5-10 minutes for chicken or steak. Waited 10 minutes and asked about the chicken. The grill was full of chicken. They said that actually, there wouldn't be any more chicken tonight as they had a large catering order and that all the chicken was for that. As usual though, I could order a burrito online and get chicken - WTH? Two weeks ago the burrito press out front was broken so they couldn't make burritos if you walked in. But again, they could do burritos ordered online because the press in the back worked. But the employee said he wasn't able to take a pressed tortilla from the back to make a burrito up front. 50% of the time there is no ice. This location consistently is out of one or more ingredients and the tables are not clean. I give up and won't even try it again. read more

The worker at the front tossed my water cup at me and called my friends names because we had a bigger party eating there, I was extremely disappointed with what happened today because I enjoyed the food but I will never come back here after what happened today. #fireher read more

Chipotle is now on the banned food list. Not sure what we are doing in the kitchen. Not cooking food the right way I can tell you that much. Why is my steak alive? Don't think that rice is supposed to be crunchy either. Panch is ass too don't get it twisted. read more

online order, first person in the door, in at 10:45 opening time!!! no food in island to be served, told we had to wait 10 min cuz they are shorthanded, when I finally got my order 18 min late, it was half a burrito bowl ! smashed down and running out all the sides of the bowl ! but the kitchen workers were sure chowing down on the food before anyone in the LONG waiting line got theirs. guess it's time to look for another Mexican restaurant that cares about their customers! read more

Before the football game we were wanting a quick meal. We got to the door only for there to be a note inside that they were only accepting mobile orders. We went back to the car and put our mobile order in and waited 15 minutes for the order to be ready. I looked at past reviews and this looks common for this location. They do have a large parking lot that is nice. It is always a good and quick meal. read more

They closed 30 minutes early and they aren't ever open, every-time I go in they always say they're online only but they have like 7 workers on a shift? like what? It's really frustrating that I can't even order because they just decided to close early. Awful service, the one in Ankeny and all the other Chipotle's I have been to are great but this one seems to stink. read more

As a frequent customer, the only "issue" I have from this store is longer wait times, buts that's only if I order during rush hour. I order my food online since it's more convenient for me. Orders have been consistently made. read more

I don't normally review, but every time I have come to this location they are out of something major. Last time it was chicken, now they were out of rice, steak, chips and corn. Wtf. They also are always so moody and rude to customers. Not a fan. read more

Wouldn't make me a quesadilla, didn't close my bowl at all and it spilled all over the bag

This Chipotle has the dumbest rule ever! I can only order a full-size chicken&cheese quesadilla using the app. You can walk-in and order a kid-sized quesadilla but not a large one. Supposedly it's because a worker can't leave the line. NEVER encountered this rule at any other Chipotle and I won't encounter it here again since I won't be back (unless they see fit to change the rule). read more

Chiptole as a brand is known for their consistency. This location is an outlier sadly, and could GREATLY use some more attention from higher ups. The rice has been crunchy all but one visit (3 in the last 6 months) at first I gave the benefit of the doubt, maybe because they were close to closing? Not the case. It's been all times. Restaurant is littered with leftover trash. I completely understand it's the rude patrons this issues lies with, but as an employee it's on you to fix. read more

Did not get what I ordered. I ordered a rice bowl with extra rice, beans, cheese, and fajita veggies and then normal corn salsa and green salsa. When I got my order there was no extra rice, beans, or cheese, and no Fajita veggies or corn salsa at all. All the Ingredients for a pickup order are printed out and put on the lid of the order, so I'm not sure why this was even a problem. Unfortunately I didn't notice until I got home and so I tried their help feature in the app which did nothing but give me a free beverage which does not make up for this problem. Overall I'm pissed read more

Chipotle Mexican Grill - My incorrect order - Mexican Near Me - Ames, Iowa

Ordered on their app and one of our bowls wasn't delivered, we then called this specific store and their automated message system was not working. There was also no way to talk to a real person. This chipotle is dog shit they are always out of everything and service is terrible and just overall lazy. would give no stars is i could

Pretty good chipotle, comparable to the others I've been to! Reason I didn't give it 5 stars is a few bad experiences with the meat being fatty or dry but I keep coming back. It's far better than my experience at pancheros! Staff seems super friendly and the inside is clean! I normally get a burrito bowl sigh chicken or carnitas (chicken is like 50 cents cheaper) & ask for a free tortilla on the side too if you want! read more

Chipotle Mexican Grill - Seating Area, Burrito Bowl - Mexican Near Me - Ames, Iowa

This location is quite dirty and the food wasn't great. We ended up throwing away our food just to be safe.

In typical chipotle fashion, I paid $18 (as a college student) for a burrito that ended up being about half the size it should've been. For reference, I ordered double steak and 5 other toppings. When are they going to give us what we pay for? read more

Skimpy on everything, but especially on the protein. Also had to place a separate online order to get quesadilla, which is ridiculous.

very rude employees!! i walk in at night sometimes this one girl gives me a blank stare or an annoyed look. this location is often out of chips by mid day or end of the night and when i ask for a refund i get a cold response of "the support number is in the bag." but no apology. they are stingy on bowl orders. i was given a moldy tortilla once. last night i got steak instead of chicken but i do not eat red meat, and my bf was given sour cream on his bowl which he strongly dislikes. the store is pretty neat and clean, and service is usually fast but boy could these employees shape up a bit! i work in food service and i would never let mistakes like those happen. read more
