My experience tehre was awful to say the least. The beans were all dried up, the chicken was all white, usuallu it's well seasoned and has some color from cooking. Rice was undercooked. The staff was so careless in their portioning and sizes. Save your money and go to chipotle instead!! read more

Chipotle Mexican Grill - Chicken bowl - Mexican Near Me - Ames, Iowa

The first time I came here it was alright besides the prices for little portions of meat, even with double meat. The second time I came my wife and I decided to try the steak which still looked a bit rare which we don't eat. I've worked for chipotle in Chicago at one of the most busiest locations in the past and when customers ask for extra as long as it wasn't meat we gave to them with no problem. This wasn't the case, I asked a gentleman if he can put the steak in some foil and on the grill for me he looked at me than went to ask someone else which I'm going to assume was the shift leader and he tells me "it's already cooked" I explained to him "we like ours well done" he goes to say "so does everyone else" I then asked him "ok so it's a problem for you to do it even if I'm ok to wait and it's still red" he says "well I have stuff to do". And that's exactly how it went, we barely go out to eat because we always have these issues where someone either had a problem with satisfying us by simple tasks or they tried to shorten us by food. I don't normally do reviews unless it's for people who deserve them. I'm not sure if it's because they have children working who only cares about getting their paycheck, which I understand but you can also do your job by making the customers happy. Especially for overpriced food and rice that wasn't even done the first time we went. read more

Placed a catering order for 10:45 and I'm still waiting at 11:20 to get my food. I wish I could leave an actual rating on the food, but I'm stuck waiting and hungry. read more

Drove to this location to get a chicken quesadilla for my daughter. They told me if I wanted one, I had to order it online. I was there. I was in no hurry. I was so confused. So, I ordered a bowl and left. Such a ridiculous situation, I feel weird writing this. read more

Worst Chipotle ever. Rice was awful, guac was awful. They charged me for a steak but I ordered 2 chicken bowls and noticed it at home. They put a half of spoon of every ingredient and the bowl looks empty. Never recommend to home here for a meal. Bad business should die and close. read more

I don't think they know how to give customer a service, we want to use the bathroom and waiting more than 15 minutes, they always said maybe someone inside, we asked them to check several times, then someone just use the key open the door, no knock, no ask, I think they know there's no people, just locked it and don't want you use. Then when we ordered the food, they gave us the food you can count how many corns, how many steak, how many lettuces you have in your bowl. read more

I normally have a great time when ordering from this chipotle. But the other night I had ordered a chicken burrito from the app for delivery. Once it got delivered I looked inside the bag and my burrito was the size of a baseball. Not only that but I tried contacting someone through the pepper chat right away and nothing has been done about the scenario. I'm upset with how this has been handled and would like something to be done, can not believe I spent nearly $20 on a burrito that was that small. read more

Cashier didn't not want to accept cash. He said only checks. He then yelled at me when I was going to get the exact amount of cash. who even carries checks on them 24/7. There was no sing in advance that they would not accept cash as there has never been a problem with it. But maybe this man just didn't know how to count change. read more

This location sucks balls. They always make burritos the size of a taco and bowls are half full. I always look forward to chipotle it usually makes my day, but now my day is ruined. I ask for double white rice and it's not even the portion of normal white rice. I had to ask for another scoop 2 more times on top of the extra rice i asked for. Same with steak. I ask for steak, and I get 5 pieces of steak and 1 piece of straight fat. 0 out of 5 stars. read more

Absolutely terrible food and even worse customer service. We ordered online, picked it up to eat at home and the rice was almost completely uncooked. I could hardly chew it. It was inedible. The store refused to do anything about it when we brought the food back. Don't go to the Ames Chipotle. read more

Worst Chipotle ever. They are charging extra for items that no other Chipotle does. I'm not sure how they are getting away with it. You can't ask for any item extra without getting charged for it. If you want the Honey Vinaigrette you have to order a salad... cant be a bowl. Yes, that means you NEED to have lettuce in your bowl to get it, without them charging a $1.05 for it. No logic at all. Store manager and employees are terrible. Please report to chipotle customer support if you have any of these experiences. read more

Alway a wait half the time, sub par quality meat. How can you serve a goddamn burrito and not offer cilantro? Extremely disappointing. Business is capable of much more. Such a shame since it's a franchise. read more

The food was ok but definitely not nearly as good as the burritos at fighting burrito in campus town. I eat out frequently. The location is convenient for shoppers and there were good choices for meals. read more

I'm not sure how people can even eat at other burrito places in Ames after eating Chipotle. Chipotle is an international chain and has strict rules and recipes regarding food quality and preparation and you can taste it. There aren't five million salsa options like other chains, but they also have a higher standard for the food. There are plentiful options and combinations for even a crazed picky eater. The store setup is a negative. It's a really small store and from 12-1pm and 5pm-6 or 7pm it's extremely crowded. It's also backwards from S Duff. If you're a native Iowan and accustomed to bland watered down no seasoning food, stick to Fighting Burrito. Even Chipotle's mild options have flavor. Not heavy spice, but flavor. Learn what that is! And yes, the store is kept really cold. A benefit is that the employees aren't sweating all in the food, but it can be distracting for diners to be frozen out while eating lunch. read more

update, I just got home and opened up my burrito that was 30 minutes late with online order and it came out with a stale, crusty tortilla and it looked completely deformed with the worst wrap I've ever seen. actually just avoid this chipotle, and no I'm not gonna go to your website with ur corporate copy paste read more

I hardly ever write reviews but i'm doing this in hopes something will change. I am a college student and this is the only nearby chipotle in Ames. I am from another state and have never ever had issues with my Chipotle until I came here. I got charged for asking for the normal amount of rice AND got a tiny scoop of protein and when I had asked for more they gave me the normal amount but still proceeded to charge me for double meat. This is horrible. Also I would like to note the fact that they are almost always out of something. read more

Chicken was burnt and dry, was put behind countless online orders then when checking out for an order to eat at the restaurant they proceeded to only hand me a tray and to walk off. Worst chipotle east of the Mississippi. read more

Yes, I know guac is extra. Standard Chipotle restaurant here in Ames. Of the chain burrito places in Ames, it's the best. I do, however, think there is a superior burrito place over on Lincoln Way in Campus Town, but I still love Chipotle. Clean and friendly environment with big portions. Their doors, however, are very heavy and clumsy. read more

i normally love chipotle. today though, I experienced otherwise. i went about my order as I regularly do, much to my demise, the corn was RAW. hard as a ROCK. couldn't chew it. the other ingredients were fine. it was hard to enjoy my bowl when there were literal ROCKS of corn in it. read more

WORST CHIPOTLE OUT THERE!! Every time i order something is wrong wether the mess up the toppings or protein. they always have many people working up you always wait for your food forever even with a mobile order it's very likely you have to sit and wait! read more

Yummy food! Sometimes the line can get long and the seating short, but we keep going back. It moves quickly and the staff is great.

Horrible. Get workers who actually care. Instead of waiting for new rice I'm given the soggy balls at the bottom of the container. Then the steak pieces have more fat to them than actual meat. Bruh. 3/3 on striking out here. Try harder. read more

I've reviewed the location in Valley West Mall in West Des Moines, Iowa, and now I'm reviewing THIS one! Customer service, food quality and atmosphere are all A+! I am so happy they decided to open a location in Ames, especially since the Qdoba closed a few years before. I have been to this location three times to date, and all three have had busy streaks (with lines sometimes backing up to the entrance), and what's interesting about it is that nobody who eats at this Chipotle so far is over 30 hardly...no bias, just an observation. If I had to say anything negative about this location, it's the parking...but it's not THAT bad, but it can get full. I think this is one of the reasons why Qdoba closed, was the access to park...but to be fair, a LOT of businesses in Ames have the weirdest parking lots (West Ames Hy-Vee, Wal-Mart on South Duff., Kum & Go on Welch, etc.) Again, THANK YOU Chipotle for opening an Ames location...you have forever found a loyal customer...and PLEASE don't close!!! read more

Every time I order pick up or delivery from this location, there is always something missing and it's usually something I pay extra for. One time they didn't give me the meat I ordered, and this time I didn't get the queso I paid for. Super disappointing that I have to be nervous every time I order pick up or delivery, which isn't that often. read more

I have been a fan of chipotle for many years. But this one particular-why are they charging me extra when I ask for a little more rice when, not extra. They never scoop the right amount the first time. It shouldn't cost extra to actually get the right amount, or a little more. On the chipotle app you have an option of normal extra or light and they don't charge on the app (unless it's gauc) fix!!!! read more

I love chipotle so much but this location is the absolute worst location I have ever been to. They are always out of one thing or another each time I have been, and they are very rude! I have never had one single good experience at this chipotle location. They need to change a lot of things!! read more

I went during a lunch rush, so this may not be a typical experience, but based on how everyone else's did looked I suspect it is typical. I got a burrito which was far too large and poorly rolled. It was poorly rolled because you can't roll up a burrito with 2-3x the filing it should have. Burritos should not look like a ball. This is a burrito shop, so filing and rolling a burrito should be part of the training, no? read more

portions are horrible asked for extra corn and dude gave me like 4 kernels of corn... disappointed

Just go to Panchero's. The chicken at Chipotle tastes like a bad, sketchy Mexican restaurant poorly seasoned and cooked old chicken. The tortillas are tough. Cilantro gets stuck in my teeth every time I eat there. Also, the tortillas are dry. Did I mention the tortillas are terrible? Seriously. If a Panchero's is available why are you at Chipotle. read more

I've been to various chipotles in different locations and Ames chipotle has got to be my favorite. I feel that this Chipotle is more fresher than all of the others I have ate. Not one bad experience I've had here except for the fact that the other day the worker misheard me saying "no beans" and still proceeded to give me pinto but I let it slide because it's still good. I always get a salad bowl and it's always good. Love it here. read more

I just wanted to update my review to add that Chipotle has a new vegetarian/vegan option - tofu with a blend of spices called sofritas. I have had the sofritas and it is very good, just a little salty for my tastes. It isn't big chunks of tofu, kind of thicker and paste-like with small pieces of tofu. So, another burrito place in town has an option besides grilled veggies for non-meat eaters. read more

Gr8 4 vegetarians (sofritas ) and if ya get chips&salsa they will give you as much salsa as you want 14/12 would recommend

Had such an awesome experience at this Chipotle! I had to only wait a couple minutes for them to finish up on cooking the steak and they put my entire meal on the house! Great customer service! read more

One of the best Chipotles I've eaten at. Keep up the good work. Friendly staff clean and tasty!

The staff working at this location are rude and racists. Their serving size varies upon person to person. I have not seen them charging extra for rice and dressings for many other customers but were asking 2 dollars extra when I asked for additional rice. This was highly embarrassing when three of their staff members had to discuss with each other to decided how more to charge for a half spoon of rice. Usually I would not have asked for more if they were not acting stingy with their servings to begin with... read more
