This place is as well run as a place can be. I lost on of the little pads on my favorite pair of sunglasses (which I didn't even buy here). I called ahead and they said to come on in, they could fix them no problem. The office staff is lovely as can be and they fixed my glasses in about two minutes and wouldn't charge me. Came to Insight a few years back and received exceptional service from start to finish! Got my glasses in a very reasonable time with a perfect fit. Five stars! After a 2.5year lapse due to loss of insurance . . . .returned to find the same Great service and a welcome back feeling! Friendly and very efficient staff, exam to fitting, all with minimal wait and made to feel unhurried.This time one pair of lenses needed a readjusting, even with an unannounced Walk-in, I was quickly attended to and again received the replacement pair right away. For years I avoided Lenscrafters because of their high prices and because of how much I'd have to pay out of pocket for an eye exam and to update my three frames. Luckily I got a new job in 2015 that included vision and before 2015 came to a close, I decided to take advantage of my insurance. As with anything else, I took to Yelp to find a reputable business close to home and InSight looked to be my best bet with an average of 5 stars. Unfortunately they were booked for the next two weeks for an exam, but I was offered a cancellation first thing in the morning on a Saturday and I quickly took it. I was 5 minutes early to my 9am appointment and the doors were already open. After filling out a few forms, I was greeted by Dr. Ng, who was very friendly and proceeded to begin the exam. Dr. Ng clearly explained the results of my exam and went into depth on the condition of my eyes given that I hadn't had an exam in 5 years. By the end of the exam, it felt as if me and Dr. Ng were friends, something I don't experience with anyone in the medical field. I was then passed off to his front staff who had a selection of frames ready for me. Although the frames did fit my style, I explained I had a few frames of my own that I wanted to keep and simply update the prescription. Once the young lady saw the designer frames, she agreed that it was a wise choice to update the prescription. I handed over the frames and was given a bill breakdown that clearly outlined what my insurance covered and what I'd have to pay out of pocket. The process was clear and couldn't of been any easier or painless. I was told the frames would arrive in 5-10 business days. 5 business days later I received a call that my frames were ready for pickup. It took some work to get there before 6pm on the weekdays but nonetheless when I arrived the front staff were quick and friendly. The frames looked and felt better than Lenscrafters, the prescription felt different but with time I was told I'd become accustom to the new prescription. I can't recommend InSight enough, Dr. Ng is a total professional with great attitude and patience, as is his reception staff and sales women. The selection of frames range from designer to economy priced with something for everyone. I can safely say I won't be returning to Lenscrafters anytime soon. Thank you Insight and Dr. Ng. read more

We would HIGHLY recommend InSight Optometry in Hercules, CA. The facility is clean and has a state of the art technology. Dr. Tam Nguyen and Dr. Darren Ng were excellent! My spouse and I went there for an annual eye check up. Their customer service was excellent. We were both seen by Dr. Nguyen who was very thorough and engaging. She explained everything step by step and in layman's terms. Dr. Darren Ng showed us different pairs of glasses. He was very patient as I was being very picky in choosing the right pair of glasses for me. He, too, was engaging. He showed me numerous designer glasses. Overall, it was a comprehensive, enjoyable and pleasant experience. There's not even one thing that we would change about the visit. We consider this the best optometry clinic in Hercules, CA. Lori (sp?) at InSight is a star! I am an unhappy customer of Kaiser Richmond Optometry, so when I needed to simply reorder contacts I looked for a well-reviewed place near me. Found InSight and Lori had my contacts for me the very next day. I also had broken my new pair of glasses from Kaiser trying to adjust them (long story but it's because their service sucks) and a guy at InSight I talked to on the phone (sorry I don't remember your name!) helped me look over the frames so I could reorder an exact replica online (this particular style is discontinued). Today I brought the new frames in and Lori put my lenses in right away and free of charge, then made sure they fit properly. She's so pleasant, professional and helpful...and I'm not even a patient of the doctor! I'll heavily consider going sans insurance just to work with this place in the future. This place is great. I was a new patient a few months back and there were issues with the frame I ordered- it was broken and they replaced and realized it came broken again from the manufacturer and they recommended I pick a different frame to avoid having the same problem a third time. However, I couldn't find any pair I liked in the office so they told me i could pick any frame from anywhere else and they'd order it for me and pay for all of it, even if it was more expensive than the original one I had paid for. This is the 4th year I've been going to Dr. Ng for my optometry needs. His staff has always been super courteous and pleasant. The pricing for his products are fair, although I am guilty of maxxing out my flex spending account here on sunglasses. He does take his time when it comes to being thorough about my prescription. I also brought my 6-year-old daughter in for her first eye exam this time. She tends to be very shy, especially when it comes to male doctors. However, Dr. Ng was very gentle and patient with her, which always helps when dealing with little ones. Instead of using the standard letter chart, Dr. Ng used shapes, which were more familiar and understandable for my daughter. Once the exam was completed, he went over the different results for each category he evaluated, like depth perception, color detection and near- and far-sightedness. I was pleased with how Dr. Ng works with his patients, no matter their age. On top of that, I can confirm that balloon sculptures are one of his hobbies and gave my daughter a penguin. She was charmed. As for my parting gift, I got a bag of pears from his family's Sacramento orchard. Now, who wouldn't want to see a doctor like that? read more

My experience at InSight Optometry was as good as it gets. The front desk administrator was very pleasant and professional. Dr. Ng was fantastic. Each time I came to an appointment, I waited for less than five minutes before he was ready to see me. He took his time during the exam. He made conversation with me and explained the details of the examination. The contact lens prescription he gave me is perfect. When I said I wasn't planning on buying glasses, I did not feel any pressure from him or have to listen to a sales pitch. The office is clean and there is plenty of parking. He also gave me some very helpful information about my family history and about eye care.
