I had a great visit at this place. Everyone was super friendly and the selection of glasses was very good. I was confused about what glasses to get, but the lady that helped me really took the time to find the right glasses for me. I also found Dr. Singh to be a fantastic doctor. He was very understanding of my situation, as my eyes tend to get dry very easily, but he was very patient with me and helped me find the right contact lenses for my eyes. Let me start off by saying I have been to a couple different eye doctors in my life, InSight being the first one, and I have never had as good as an experience at any of them besides InSight. When you walk in you are immediately greeted by the wonderfully nice workers and they make sure that you are helped and are answering all of your questions. InSight was also the first place to get my prescription correct and made sure that my pair of glasses were the right fit for me. I've been wearing glasses for 30 years and never able to wear contacts. I've been "fit" numerous times for contacts but no one ever got the fit correct until I went to InSight Eyecare in Scotts Valley. Unbelievable rude treatment. After walking-in an asking if I could be seen, filling-out paperwork, providing insurance and starting the screening exam, the staff got a call from the owner telling them to stop my exam and I had to leave. I was dumbfounded. The staff were professional, but the owners telephone treatment of me was shocking. I was asked if I wanted to reschedule, but of course declined. I had such a great experience dealing with Debra, working the front desk. I had ordered contacts through a website, and my delivery kept getting delayed. I came in to see if they had a week or two I could buy. They checked everywhere, couldn't find any, then got me a 10 day supply, that arrived two days later. Last week I walked in with a prescription to be filled. A lady walked up & made me feel like she did not want me there. I asked some questions about frames & just waved her hand & said, "Women's frames are on this side." I wandered around & she eventually walked up to me but did not ask what I was interested in or how she could help me. She asked my name & DOB & walked away. She never smiled & did not make eye contact with me. I was so unimpressed, I left without purchasing anything. I work in customer service myself & understand the importance of making customers feel like they are NOT inconveniencing you by asking you to do your job. I have walked past this place a hundred times (heading to CVS & Bay Federal) so I thought I'd give it a chance. I will never set foot in that place again. Very disappointed. Horrible customer service. I will continue to go to Eye Q - even though it is 100 times more difficult to find parking there & it is out of my way, it is worth the customer service! read more

During her Kindergarten check up, my daughter was referred by her pedeitrition to an optomitrist in our Medical Foundation. And soon thereafter, she failed the vision test at school. So I took her to the referral in the Foundation. I was told they could not accept her VSP insurance (which is odd because they accept her medical insurance,) the exam would be around $200, and they had no appointments for weeks. I live in Scotts Valley and I was in the shopping center when I passed InSight Eyecare. When I went inside I was immedietly greeted by Mike (I think?) and he told me they accept VSP and had an appointment right away. They cared for my daughter so well- her lenses and frames were covered and they even warrantied them a week later when she had an accident durring ballet, which was not covered. At that time I purchased her a second pair of sports frames/lenses and received them fast!!! I recently took in my son as well- and they have cared for him just as well! They are super patient with children- and have really cool glasses/frames (I got some Juicy Couture sunglasses- so cute!) Thank you, Dr. Tran and staff- the Forbes family appreciates you! read more

This has to be one of the best optometrist offices I have ever been to! The office was very neat and clean and they have really cool medical equipment. A little screw fell out of my glasses and needed to be replaced. I visited Insight to see if they could help. The staff was wonderful. They replaced the screw on the spot and even replaced a nose pad that I hadn't noticed was even missing. The lenses were cleaned and the glasses were returned to me as good as new. The folks never even asked if I had purchased the glasses there (which I hadn't) and they would accept no payment for the service. I wish more businesses were as caring as Insight! read more

The Optometrist was very congenial and relaxed, helping to explain details of medical diagnosis and this new process of needing glasses for me. The assistant doing my eye tests was very casual and friendly also. When it came to choosing glasses I had a very patient optician who let me contemplate many choices. Another more gregarious optician also chimed in with her strong opinion, and I ended up getting different glasses than I felt comfortable. I called the next day and they were able to stop the order, by exception, and allowed me to pick different frames. I'm grateful for their flexibility and accommodation! It had been a couple of years since I got new glasses so my wife took me down to InSight and I was helped by Alma. I got 3 pair, Computer, driving/reading (progressives) and sun glasses also progressives. Alma took time with me to find them and explain that the progressives were really nice but were going to be a bit tougher than my previous bifocals. I got my glasses and 2 of the pair were perfect right out of the package. I went back in a few weeks after learning how to use the progressives to visit Alma and she was able to adjust the 3rd pair just so slightly and now they are really nice. Thank you. read more

I had not been to InSight Eyecare Center in Scotts Valley since it was sold. I always had great care before and felt a bit apprehensive to meet a new doctor. I discovered that the new doctor and his staff are top-rate. I recommend them without hesitation. The staff put me at ease right away and I did not have to wait long to be seen. I found Dr. Rahul Singh to be friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. He listened intently to what my concerns were about my changing vision and suggested I use a daily contact lens instead of the two-week brand I had been wearing. The reason was some inflammation issues resulting from wearing my contacts too many hours a day and not discarding them on schedule. He was efficient throughout the exam, fitting me for contact lenses as well as glasses. I noticed he did not use any unnecessary equipment. Lillian, the office manager, helped me select a flattering style of frames and explained exactly what my insurance would and would not cover. She had a sense of my preference from my old pair of glasses and found a new pair that was attractive, and better made than my original pair was. All in all I was pleased with the top-rate customer service I received during my initial exam and then again, when I picked up my glasses. They made a payment plan available for me which was really helpful. Later, when there appeared to be a big discrepancy on what the insurance covered, another staff member went above and beyond the call of duty and actually contacted a key person at the insurance company to get my answer. She also wanted me to be sure I was getting everything I was entitled to from the insurance company and reviewed options for me. One great way to rate a doctor is how they respond in an emergency situation. In my case that went really well, too. I had spent some time in the health club down the street from the Capitola office and realized with anxiety that I could not retrieve the contact lens from my right eye. It was lodged way behind my eyeball. Apparently all the moisture from the Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna had caused it to drift to a place way beyond my reach. I called for advice and Lillian said the doctor was in his office but not seeing patients that day and she would help me get it out herself. If she couldn't she would ask him to help. Usually when a doctor isn't seeing patients, he would not be available. However, Dr. Singh actually came out to the waiting room personally check on my situation. As it turned out, the lens migrated out by itself and they let me use their lens solution to put it back in. A friend of mine is scheduled for cataract surgery, so I wanted to find out what the status of my cataracts are and how many months or years I had before surgery was needed. I was near the Scotts Valley office so popped in to leave a message for the doctor to schedule a time to discuss this. I didn't recognize the doctor out of his white coat standing in front of the receptionist. He turned to me and right there on the spot got my records and reassured me that on a scale of one to four, my cataracts were still at very early stages and there was nothing to worry about for a very long time. He was filling in for another doctor and could have just as easily made an appointment with me later, yet took time from his hectic schedule to answer my question instantly. This excellent, thorough customer service is so refreshing in our fast-paced society. I am beyond thrilled with the eye care I receive from Dr. Singh and his entire staff. I've been going to Insight Eyecare in Scotts Valley for 10 years and have been very happy with all their employees from the front desk to the optometrists themselves. They make me feel like a million dollars. Lillian is the very best adjuster (which is quite an art if you've ever tried to do this on your own) and has a kind heart. The employees help you decide on frames that truly look good on you and that fit your budget as well! Debbi has the same compassion and takes care everyone in the same manner as all the rest of the employees there. It seems like they hand pick winning and caring people on their team.
