I came in for an annual checkup and left feeling very well cared for. The reception and administrative staff were welcoming and competent. The technician who conducted all the evaluation tests was expert with all the different and complex machines, gave clear and understandable instructions, and was patient with this old man. Dr. Popilsky, in addition to his thorough and effortlessly professional competence, was personable and good humored throughout my appointment. He was also helpful by helping me understand what insurance coverage I had and what services were covered at what levels. I spoke with their scheduler at length yesterday about our appointment today. I asked if it was covered by insurance and was assured that it was and there would be no out of pocket cost to me. And then when we went in for our appointment we are informed that there is a $39 fee for something they have to do instead of dilation because of Covid protocols that have been in place LONG since before yesterday. This would have been fine if they had been up front and honest about this expense. They LIED to me and then just hoped/expected me to suck it up and pay the fee in the office because we were already there. NO. That is not how this works. You commit fraud and lie to me? Then you lose my business permanently. read more

This is the first time I went to see Dr. Popilsky and I was pleasantly surprised. All the tests were pretty routine until you get to see the doctor. Being an avid reader for years, I noticed that recently I lost interest in reading and would get headaches while reading also. Well, Dr. Popilsky noticed something about my eyes and said he wasn't surprised that I didn't want to read anymore because my eyes now required a prism. No doctor has ever gone that deep Into looking into my eyes and I greatly appreciate it because now there's a possibility that I will love to read again. read more

I have worn glasses and contact for more than 20 years at the same prescription. Like many people in the pandemic, I put off a lot of routine appointments. Unfortunately, I had what turned out to be a pretty painful cornea tear and was incredibly lucky to get an appointment within 48 hours at this office! Dr. Popilsky was incredibly detailed. He took additional time to address my change in vision and pain, correctly diagnosed my issue and prescribed the right medication. It's only been a few hours and I'm already feeling so much better. Due to the customer service I received today I feel obligated to write this. Justin at the front desk at this office is horribly unprofessional and unpleasant to work with. The amount of attitude I received today from this assistant left a horrible taste in my mouth. From blaming a past employee for something that was handled to the rude remarks he was making (Comments, Facial expressions, Tone of voice). It was very un-called for. I'm extremely disappointed after a long day of work to of had to deal with this, you would think someone working in customer service would be a little more personable. Wonderful optometry care and marvelous staff from Dr. Popilsky to everyone else in the office.

After first visit, my vision was worse than when I went in. I called when I got home and explained that I couldn't even see speed limit signs or anything up close either, I was told to give it a week or two to adjust to the new lenses and glasses that I bought there. I waited a month, but was told I could not bring my dog in even in her carrier. So after another month I called again to see if I could please bring her with me. I was told 'no' and that if I felt this appt was important I would find a sitter for my dog. (my dog is old, cannot walk and needs constant care.) When I finally did get in, Dr P told me there was nothing he could do, but to come back "next week". Total disappointment. Seems he only likes playing with his high-tech, very expensive machines, but not caring about the end result. I did not receive a written explanation or summary of what exactly is wrong with my vision. I am now back to wearing my old glasses and looking for another eye doctor. read more

I've been seeing Dr Popilsky for years and his staff and facility are amazing. As an Engineer I appreciate the state of the art equipment used such as the mapping of the eye. Having those images taken of your eye allows the Dr to determine if any deterioration has occurred over time. Highly recommend this office read more

I recently went to another optometrist in town, Midtown optometry and they were spectacular, and told them about my horrendous experience with Ben Popilsky association (check out previous review). They said that they are REQUIRED to give you your eye prescription if they've been checked in the last 5 years. I thought so. I had my first appointment with Dr. Popilsky the other day. It went very well , I thought. He gave me lots of details about my eyes and explained everything quite well. He is very professional and a kind man. The receptionist, seeing I was a new patient, welcomed me to the office. Jessica did my eye tests and helped me pick out new frames (which is no easy task). I've been seeing Dr. Popilsky for about 3 years now, and he and his staff have always been great. He's friendly and very energetic, and his staff are pleasant and helpful (and very patient - I'm very picky about my frames and go back and forth a lot and they never made me feel rushed). At my most recent visit, I informed him I'd been seeing an ophthalmologist for a central serous retinopathy in one eye and he took extra care to make sure and explain how that could affect my eye prescription and talked me through whether to stay with my current prescription, or update it taking my new and probably temporary vision condition into consideration. When he found out the ophthalmologist I'd been seeing hadn't done a digital retina scan, he was shocked. He then did the scan for me, which I had declined due to cost, and showed me exactly how the condition had affected my retina. read more

My family and I went to Dr Popilski for ten years. I really liked him but it was far from where I live. So I spent the last 6 years trying out Drs that are closer. In most places I felt like a number and no one explained my results in detail.
