I have been with Dr. Barondes for a few years now. She and her staff are wonderful to visit. They offer a variety of glasses for men, women, and children. Prices vary depending on the brand and if you want to add extra such as transition lenses or blue light blocking. The waiting area has a tv and drinks. The facility is very clean and well maintained. Made appt weeks in advance. My appt was schedule for 12/5 @ 10AM. Arrived and was told the Dr was out and they tried to call me last week but the number wasn't incorrect in their system. I didn't fill out any paperwork when I walked in to schedule a new appt. I just verbally gave the staff my information. But the number they had on file was not close to my number. I get it, stuff happens but still tough to hear oh we had the wrong number & tried contacting you but the number wasn't working when you took time off work. Maybe implement a second or third means of contacting patients for appt cancellations by utilizing their email address or NOK phone number as a seems to show due diligence so future patients are not discouraged from rescheduling. I usually see Dr. B but I saw someone else for this visit. The new Dr was just as nice and knowledgeable. I went in there with my friend and we both got same day appointments, which surprised me. Staff and doctor were very customer oriented and took care of us. Ok experience and slim selection on eyewear. A little frustrated that you have to pay $5 to have your prescription reprinted after paying for an eye exam. Asked to have it emailed and was told no but they could fax it to and unknown fax number. Maybe I would be ok with paying $1 but $5 just to print and then you can't email it is just crazy to me. While the exam itself went well I was financially scammed by this place and I am not sure why. I scheduled a routine eye exam here for the first time and was told 3 times, (before, during and at check out) that my total would be a $15 copay plus a $39 upgrade fee I agreed to. When done I paid the $54 and left. The next day I got a call saying that because I was given a prescription for glasses (that I did not ask for) and because there were some questions about family history and eye health involved there would be an extra $60 charge. This was because prescriptions (which again I did not ask for) and eye health questions are not covered as routine exam charges. I have had annual eye exams for years with similar places and never ran into this. Those services were always covered under a routine exam and if anything provided was going to be extra I should have been asked and advised during the service and not the day after when they looked back to see what they did. When I called back one more time to dispute the additional unauthorized charges to my card, I was basically told I was just out of luck. read more

I have been going to optometrists for the past thirty years. I have never had an eye examination as thorough as I did with Dr. Barondes. After the examining my eyes she took all the time I needed to fully explain my eye health and answer all of my questions in detail that I have never received from any previous doctor. They called me to inform me my wife's glasses were ready to pick up. I inquired about mine since we went in together and they told me they were not in. Days later they still weren't there and no one called to update me on the status as they said they would. Now they are saying that I can only get a refund on my frames and not the lenses even though I have neither. Not the service I was expecting after having such a great initial visit. I ended up not being seen because I left, but the owner called me himself to apologize and that means a lot to me. I met Dr. Barondes, and her staff. I made a appointment. That was 4 yrs ago. If I need anything at all from cleaning to replacing screws. I just walk in. It's the same staff. Everyone their has all ways been their. I am going to get my third pair of glasses next month. I will be coming here. I would go without glasses before I would go anywhere else. Wife went in to fix glasses we got there last year. They talked her into just buying a new pair. My wife gave the insurance card used for the past two years. No changes have been made to my policy. Come to find out.. They did not select the same insurance that was used previously and charged my wife $530.00 for a pair of glasses. My wife came home and showed me the bill. I went to their office to see what happened. They realized that the insurance was not selected and said they would look into it and call me back. I was called back and told the order was already processed at the lab so there is nothing they can do. I asked if we could fix this and was told I would have to pay an additional restocking fee. What is up with this business? I feel very ripped off! Very unprofessional and appears shady. Not at all happy with their service! Be careful when dealing with this place.
