I have been a patient of Dr. Tupps a long time, and loved him. He is gone. The practice is not the…read moresame. Today I went for a contact lens appointment... they would not even give me a firm price for the exam, other than it will be over $400+... and we will tell you what the final cost is going to be after the exam. The last time I had a contact lens exam at this practice the cost was $254. At $400, it is a 57% increase from my last eye exam three years ago. When I questioned the huge increase, I was told that Dr. Tupps kept his prices the same forever and that he did not charge enough. When I shared that that's a 20% increase per year, they again said he didn't charge enough. I left. Called another local eye doctor. My total eye exam cost, including contacts, was $215... Which they quoted me upfront. Within an hour I had my contact lens prescription and saved at least $185. We will not be back. They lost me as a customer. They also lost my husband as a customer. When I used to go to Dr. Tupps the waiting room was always packed. Today I walked into an empty, waiting room... Now I know why.

I was contacted by the office after this review. Appreciate that and the explanation of the unfortunate timeline of events. I have bumped this up a star (ok) but overall my experience was still what it was. I explained that this is an experience of over 10+yrs of my wife and I as patients. I was told the practice no longer operated as it once did which is great but not reflected the day of my visit. Willing to give them another chance and again appreciate them reaching out to me.

The second pair of sunglasses won't be ready "till next week."' A blonde woman slammed the other pair on the counter when I complained. No offer to fit the ones they managed to come up with. So I guess I'll come back "next week" for a pair I was promised today. No follow through. No apologies. I'll go back "next week" to pick up the other "free" pair, but I'll never return after that. They don't deliver on their promises. And $400 for one pair is no bargan anyway. Avoid!

My wife politely requested the doctor (an older Asian woman) that the glaucoma test not be done. However, the doctor forcefully declined the request and told my wife she needed the test done. My wife is an alternative health practitioner who knows about the glaucoma test. She knew she was in a low-risk profile for it and that the test itself required usage on many, many people to find one existing case. My wife had no reason to suspect this condition. She asked again to decline the test. The doctor told her that unless the test was done, she couldn't be seen. So my wife left, and it wasted our time. I had a conversation with the manager who just repeated the same BS lines over and over again of "It's a different company," "the doctor says it's necessary," and "it's the standard operating procedure." Standard operating procedure? What BS. We all know that the glaucoma test has nothing to do with getting an eyeglasses prescription (which was all we wanted). We all know that glaucoma mainly affects the elderly (which my wife is not). Not respecting patients' wishes is unethical, condescending, and rude. I hope the management of this place holds its doctors to a higher ethical line and makes needed changes.

Their wait-times are typically EXTREMELY long, and that's not once in a while, or on some days, it's EVERY SINGLE TIME that I visit their stores. This is not the way to run any business unless the prices are rock-bottom or the absolute lowest in town, which -- believe me -- they're not! VisionWorks is apparently profit-driven to such a degree that they'd rather lose customers than ever hire more than a bare-bones, skeleton crew. I went today to pick up my order, and I counted TEN customers waiting to either pick up orders, or shop for a new pair. That's ten people (plus their many children) waiting for ONE worn out, seriously overworked employee! Does that seem like a sustainable or sane business practice? I, for one, will never shop there again, insurance or not.

I live in Winter Park and I will drive all the way to Dunedin for new glasses or for help with older glasses. Dale recently fixed my current glasses (they were a mess and I love them, I use them so much!) without charging me and also was able to determine the issue with my prescription sunglasses, which were purchased at Eyes on Broadway but the downtown Winter Park glasses shop seriously messed up the measurements and I took them back 3 times and they never got it right. Dale looked at them right away and easily determined the measurements were totally off. I'm super happy with my sunglasses after Dale's help. Seriously check out the selections, reminds me of a shop in DC, only better! They have so many fun glasses. I could go on and on but just trust me on this, you won't be disappointed!

I asked if there were more and she told me to look in a drawer. I did and found a pair marked at $99. I tried them on and said I liked them and when I handed them to her, she pulled them into the pile. I was worried that she might mix them up, but since there was some friction between us already that day I hoped she would take the right ones for my order. When I picked up my glasses, they had the wrong frames and were aweful looking. I told her they were the wrong frames, and she said they were the right frames and there was nothing that could be done about it, but "that's quite a fashion statement you're making." The frames listed on my invoice were priced at $110, eleven dollars more then the ones I ordered. I asked for the doctor to call so we could resolve this, and instead she sent me a long and rather rude email ending in: "Surely you can appreciate why I cannot return every phone call made to the office, I am busy with scheduled patients like yourself".
