Optician was a nice lady. I had my eyes examined and got my prescription from target. . I went to order on-line at target and some numbers were missing, (PD measurement) critical info. I printed my target (on-line glasses order) and went back to store to get missing numbers to order or just order them in the store. Fine with me. They will not give you those numbers unless you order in-store. Well fine but the price for the same glasses was 300.00 more. Over double. So I asked can I just get my PD numbers I can order online thru target? Nope. You must pay the in-store price to get those numbers. Even though it is still target, you will not get the info you need unless you pay the higher price. This seems very shady to me. Why wasn't I told this? Now I have a useless prescription unless I pay double by ordering in store. Not a great look target. I feel duped! read more

My wife and I have been to several different eye doctors in our area over the years. Our most favorite and we believe the most personable doctor is Dr Michelle Fekete. We see her in the Target Superstore located at Gulf to Bay and Rt.19 in Clearwater. She takes her time while at your appointment and makes you feel so comfortable and thoroughly explains the many steps to determine the best prescription for your eye glasses. Excellent people skills and very knowledgeable, there's absolutely no reason at all we would go anywhere else for an eye exams! read more

Location was Gulf to Bay, Clearwater, FL I wish i could give them no stars. They are the worst optical place I ever went to. My first appointment was in October. They sold me contacts that gave me horrible headaches. Also both doctors could not get my prescriptions right. They just guess your prescription. They have been making me try every contact they could think of instead of just refunding my money. Finally this month, I was fed up and decided to return all the contacts they have given me . Now they wont refund me because I bought the contacts in October and the boxes are open. DO NOT ever go here. Anywhere is better than this place. Unless you want to waste your time with doctors that are not knowledgeable and staff that are very rude. Also had to return my glasses that I bought here because they gave me a weaker prescription and the frames were poor quality. My glasses I have at home are better and were half the price. read more

I've been coming to Target Optical for my eyeglass and contact lens needs for two years now and I am very satisfied with their service. The actual products are supplied Luxottica, so don't be surprised to see the same brands here that you see at LensCrafters and Sears Optical. While it doesn't carry all the luxury brands LensCrafters does, it offers more upmarket selection than Sears Optical. Their hours are also convenient. The opticians I've interacted with have all been super kind and professional. They also give you free contact lens solution and a case after your visit! I also had my eyes examined by the optometrist, Dr. Fekete. Dr. Fekete was extremely knowledgable and professional. I had an appt at 10 am this morning. Unfortunately, I woke up with a sore throat and cough. My son had a cough yesterday so I knew that we should get COVID tested. I promptly canceled my appt on my phone and took myself, my 4 year old, and 19 month old to be tested. I called Target at 10am as soon as they opened to explain the situation. They still charged me a cancellation fee. This seems like poor policy. Should I have come in to the office while showing symptoms? While waiting for my test results? This is how the virus is spreading. I am cautious and considerate of others and doing my part. I don't have spare income to be charged for doing what I was supposed to do. There should be flexibility to make a better judgment call here. read more

My eye shop downtown closed so I had to find a new place. I checked out the eyeglass place on Gulf to Bay, but I didn't like their selection of frames. I had used Costco before, but their doctors changed several times on me and I wasn't crazy about their selection and service. While in Target one day, I checked out their eye center, I liked the frames I found and they were having a sale. It has been over 10 years since I purchased a new set of frames so I wanted to get it right. I asked a lot of questions and the employees who helped me answered all of them. I was told to make an appointment when I was ready. I did try to call and set an appointment and no one answered, there was an option to leave a message, but honestly I never leave messages. I decided to risk it and went in anyway. They were able to schedule me almost immediately. Dr. Herring did my exam. She was quick and thorough, they all were. Jim helped me pick my new frames and found a rebate on my contacts as well as helped me out with another discount with my car insurance. Now, getting an exam for contacts, glasses, buying frames and transition lenses is not cheap. I would've spent at least $125+ or more if he hadn't helped with all the discounts. I liked my experience here and it's convenient as I go to Target regularly. read more

WARNING: They overcharge you for your exam and for lenses. My husband gets his eye exams done at MacDill AFB, but it is too difficult for me to get there during the day. So I chose to try the Target Optical, instead. When I checked out for my routine eye exam to get my contact lens prescription refilled, they insisted that my insurance co-pay would be $40, not $5 like my husband pays (same insurance) and like I have paid at every other optometrist. I argued with them, but they insisted that this visit was for a "prescription lens fitting" and not just an eye exam. They have VERY HIGH sales pressure here and clearly are trying to milk every penny out of every customer. I will be making the future trip over the bridge back to the military base optometrist. I definitely don't spend $35 in gas for that trip. BUYER BEWARE. read more

I'm frustrated and disappointed with their service and attitude. We ordered the most expensive two pairs of glasses for my daughter after their medical exam. The doctor who examined my kid gave us the referral bc of my kid's astigmatism and they figured out that the prescribed lenses were incorrect and could be even harmful to my daughter. In order to fix that, Target optical MUST redo it. They agreed to remake the glasses according to the new prescription however, they started to make up the facts, never called back, reschedule picking up numerous times with no reason. My kid waiting for new glasses for more than a month bc of their unprofessional behavior. Do NOT recommend ever. read more

I moved local and wanted this to be my eye care location. I called and asked questions, including whether they take EyeMed like they advertise everywhere. Customer service said all Dr.s there accepted EyeMed. I also emailed EyeMed just to verify this Target Optical accepted EyeMed. They responded that they did. With that, I then set up an online appointment with all my EyeMed information. One business day before my eye appointment I get a call from Dr. Fekete's office. The rude office person can't verify any of my EyeMed information, even after going through the details again on the phone that were originally entered into the appointment. Only then does she tell me that they don't accept EyeMed for eye exams and I need to pay full price. What a scam, stay away from this place and EyeMed. read more

Dr. Fekete completed my eye exam, the first I have had in five years. I had previously gone to an ophthalmologist in another state, and just have not made time for an eye exam in Clearwater, until my prescription needed a change. Dr. Fekete came across as very knowledgeable, caring, informative and thorough. I will return to see Dr. Fekete and can recommend her for your next eye exam. P.S. I had called all over to inquire about pricing and what optometrists include in an eye exam. An eye exam seems to be pretty standard for what it included, but the prices varied as much as 50%. I thought the price of the exam by Dr. Fekete was very reasonable. read more

Went here today in hopes to find the perfect pair of glasses. I had already visited 3 other stores and was beginning to become discouraged. The selection wasn't huge, but they had a lot of good frames for a reasonable price. The woman who assisted us was amazing at helping to find the right frame shape and price range for us. Her name is Maria. She has a lot of experience with eyeglasses and even has worked in making the lenses herself, so she was able to give us the best recommendations on the type of lens I should have for my prescription. Target cares about one thing...Target. They have overage exam separate from those who would fit you for glasses, not at all uncommon. They will treat you like crap if they find out you are not going to order glasses from Target and refuse to fill your new prescription in your existing frames which is pure blasphemy. It's like cutting keys as far as fitting lenses into your existing frames, there is no justification for forcing you to buy new frames from them beyond their need for profit. They also work diligently to make it hard for you to have adequate information to purchase anywhere else. If you are expecting that this business will conduct themselves in a professional manner, think again. They have a definite problem with the idea that you could possibly take your business elsewhere and you probably should. I would not ever recommend this business simply because they are clueless and my prescription proved by the eye doctor did not even have a working phone number on it. It was a disconnected phone number. They do not care about how they fail, but they certainly care that you are smart enough to go elsewhere because they are downright childish in the effort to provide you with information that nobody else in the world can provide you with eyewear that will be properly fitted. They care about one thing...getting your money. It's a sales pitch from the time you walk in until the time you leave. Even if you tell them you don't have the money...they continue to try to up sell. My $10 eye exam which was through my insurance cost me almost $80. Don't expect to get a decent copy of your script either, they will give you a crappy three part copy that isn't even legible. I will never go back to them again...don't wast your time or hard earned money. They are dishonest and greedy. read more

I really had a bad experience in this place. As I told to the associate who assisted me, I needed my glasses real soon for my work! I did wait the normal waiting time of 5 to 7 days. On the 7th day I was excited to receive a text from them informing me that my glasses were ready! Finally I'm gonna have my glasses that I needed badly for my work. I was in dismay when I went there and tried on my glasses! They put a wrong prescription in them! :( Everything I saw when I put them on was all blurry! I'm not happy with their service! Plus I need to wait 5 more days for them to correct their mistake while I miss opportunities at work. After 7 days more of waiting, my replacement glasses were finally ready. I went and picked them up, hoping they were made right this time, I put them on and everything was clear like it should be. I was wanting to ask for a discount or a reduced price on my sunglasses, but before I could the guy there said that they would order me a second pair at no cost to me for their mistake. They have restored my confidence in their store and I will probably get my sunglasses there too. Nice job Target Optical! read more
