I went with them bc they include a smoke test in the fee if the duct test fails so you know where the leaks are coming from. Most other companies charge an add'l fee. Katie immediately answered my first phone call, explained HERS and the entire process to me, with a super reasonable quote; 2. From the moment I decided to work with them, Katie sent me texts and emails with appointment schedule, and straight forward guidance of CalCERTS registration and reports; 3. The certified validator Bryan arrived on time, with needed equipments and tools, and was VERY POLITE and RESPECTFUL of our property. Just as much as Katie does, he cares about his customers. The HERS testing went so smoothly and professionally. Bryan explained the policy limit of inflow/outflow efficiency ratio must be less than 5%, and we passed. Bryan left passed 12pm, by 4pm the same day we received CalCERTS official report and certificate in our email from Katie. We recently used innovative energy to do HERS testing. The appointment schedule is easy and they have notification sent to the customer to inform the technician is en route. Bryan is our technician and he is very knowledgeable and professional. We failed the test the first time and Bryan suggested to seal all registers to see if it helps with the situation or not. We hired Bryan to do the work and he came next day. After sealing all registers we still failed the test, Bryan wrote the report for us anyway and we successfully pass the city inspection. One tip for you if you suspect you might fail the test the first time, ask if they could fix the problem if the test didn't pass at the same visit, otherwise you have to pay for another visit at discounted price. read more

I had great experience with IES. When I had my furnace and all ductwork replaced couple weeks ago, I decided to find my own HERS tester for the city inspection. At that time, I had no idea what HERS test is and how it is done. On my first phone call with IES, Katie was super nice. She explained everything from what and how is this test done to what is required for the city inspection. She answered all my questions and didn't put any pressure on me to use their service. I later booked an appointment with them. On the day of the test, Bryan showed up right on time. He worked through the air registers while I was asking a thousand questions. After we did the HERS test, he also did the air volume and A/C voltage test and explained everything along the way. Thank you for being so patient with me! I reached out to IES for the HERS testing and Katie detailed everything in the first call and how long it will take to get this done. I had to complete the HERS rating and inspection process for a residential project in SF. I went on Yelp to find a rater and Katie responded within an hour. There were some conditions with my project (HERS testing for central heating ducts but the house was all radiant floor heating) in addition to getting the architect and owner to complete their CalCerts registrations online and Katie was very patient to help everyone get it done. She kept me updated on her schedule and after the inspections were completed, she provided the info to CalCerts and SF Dept of Building Inspections the next day. Had a completely new HVAC system installed in our home and based on Yelp reviews, price and overall responsiveness we decided to go with Innovative Energy Solutions to ensure that the new system met Title 24 compliance standards and passed the city inspection. When we initially hired them we probably didn't expect much more than a 30 minute inspection but these guys went above and beyond our expectations. On the day of the inspection they arrived promptly, clearly explained the process and went to work. After soon realizing that the new system would not pass due to air duct leakage they spent additional hours doing everything they could to improve the rating, including re-sealing vents and redoing ductwork (!), While they were able to greatly improve the rating they could not bring it low enough to pass without having to redo a large part of the ductwork. Overall they probably spent around 3 hours at our house but we only paid the agreed upon inspection fee- this was clearly not in their job description but you could tell they genuinely cared about our experience. After having the HVAC contractor come out again to fix the system leakage we had Innovative Energy Solutions come out at the same time in order to ensure the system would pass. Again they arrived on the agreed upon time and worked diligently with the contractor to ensure that the HVAC system now far exceeded efficiency standards. Overall we were very happy with this company's responsiveness,flexibility and efficiency. They were a pleasure to work with and we would recommend them to anyone in need of a HERS rater. read more
