Daync Academy - The new Daync Studio! Just got done with back to back Salsa classes. Can't wait to jump back into hip hop next week.

Without a doubt the BEST dance studio in Milwaukee! Whether you're a seasoned pro or are genuinely…read moreembarrassed of your dancing abilities like I was, give this place a try. Full disclosure, I haven't actually been to any other dance studios, but I don't need to in order to know that it doesn't get any better than Daync. The owners: Josh and Amber, I can't say enough wonderful things about these two! What they have created here in Milwaukee is so genuine and clearly comes out of their love for dance. They are both incredible dancers and teach the Salsa/Bachata classes. Their passion for sharing their love of dance is evident in the way they teach and the way they run their business. Since reopening after the covid-19 lockdown they have done an incredible job creating a safe atmosphere that still allows people to come in and have a great time learning to dance. They care a great deal about the people that come to Daync and that is clearly evident by the effort they put in to get to know everyone. I had only been attending classes for a few months before covid hit. Then when they were able to reopen an injury kept me sidelined for a while longer. On my first day back in 6 months: I was standing outside waiting to check in, Josh sees me from down the line and even though I was wearing a mask he recognized me, greeted me by name, and said he was glad to have me back after so long away. This is exactly the sort of caring, inclusive culture they have created at Daync. Everyone is welcome, and they make darn sure that you know that. Seriously, I can't say enough good things about these two. Class offerings: They have a multitude of class offerings featuring various styles and skill levels all throughout the week. Hip hop, Salsa, and Bachata are their main dance classes during the week and offer different levels and partner classes for the later two. They also offer a contemporary class, Capoeira, and most recently have started offering a heels class for the ladies (or anyone that wants to get in touch with their feminine side, I suppose). Josh and Amber teach the Salsa/Bachata classes and they have a small handful of incredible instructors that rotate through the hip hop classes. I have never left the studio without a huge smile on my face. You'd be hard pressed to find a more caring and inclusive dance studio that is just so dang much fun. Go. You'll be so glad you did.

My almost 4 year old has been taking ballet (& recently hip hop) for a few years now at Starland*,…read moreBaby Take a Bow**, etc. However, this year I wanted her to find a "real" dance studio where she could continue to dance her heart out for many years to come (if she happens to love dance as much as I did/do). There's not many local studios that offer tap for 3-4 year olds so that was one of my deciding factors for DancED. When researching I also stayed up way too late one night watching video clips of their performances (like I said...I LOVE dance) and was hooked. It reminded me so much of my dance studio from South Florida. My daughter has been in Miss Erin's Creative Dance class since September now and DancED has proven to be everything (and more) I was looking for in a dance studio. At first I worried that one teacher couldn't handle a rowdy group of 10ish pre-schoolers, but after attending this week's parent watch week was in awe with the way Erin has them all under control. I really like that Erin (and it appears most of the other teachers) have a lot of experience teaching little ones. At Baby Take a Bow my daughter mostly had really young ballerinas teaching her who had absolutely no experience dealing with 2 & 3 year olds. And it's a lot more difficult to control a group of pre-schoolers than it is to do a pirouette. The class consists of 20 minutes of tap followed by 20 minutes of ballet. They are working on all the basic tap (shuffles) and ballet (first, second position) moves. My daughter seems to really enjoy it, especially the tap portion of the class. Anything really noisy makes her happy. There are typically 3 consecutive classes going on at the same time and I think she loves checking out the "big girl classes" even more than taking class herself. We're just about to order their costumes for the June recital, which I have to admit I"m excited for. I was a bit bummed to hear that the little ones have their own 45 minute version of the recital, although my husband and I'm sure other parents were thrilled to hear that news. I may just have to go on my own to watch those big kids dance. DancED also have a very busy calendar of events going on all year long. Everything from father/daughter fun nights to princess camps to circus weeks. The owner does a great job showing off pics of their fabulous dancers throughout the studio and on facebook. Speaking of which I'm a bit surprised that the owner (I believe Nancy?) hasn't come by the class to introduce herself to her newest group of dancers, but I'm sure we'll meet her in due time since I hope my daughter will be dancing her way thru DancED for many years to come. * http://www.yelp.com/biz/starland-deerfield **http://www.yelp.com/biz/baby-take-a-bow-winnetka

I highly recommend that you enroll your next dance lessons at Erin's Social Style Ballroom Dance…read morestudio.  In addition to the flexible lesson schedules and the Crème de la Crème dance instructors that are employed, Social Style is a multi layer of professionalism that thus far exceed and surpass the dancing industry standard.  In September of 2018, I immediately bought a reduced price 26 dance lesson package right after my free complimentary lesson with Erin. My very first thoughts weren't about how much money I was spending, but was about how much money I was saving on something that was going to be very exciting for me to learn. My dance instructor, Charmaine made sure my learning pace was set at my comfort and confidence level. Anne-Marie offered suggestions and tweaked my technique. Erin reviewed and monitored my knowledge of the dance routines on a weekly basis to make sure I was getting the best results of my dancing package. Dance routines that I've learned so far is the "Push Pull" ,"Rumba" and Triple Time Swing" better known as the East Coast Swing. More dancing lessons to follow........ I cannot begin to say how much I appreciate Erin, as well as her gifted/talented instructors, Anne-Marie and Charmaine, whom have changed my outlook on life, given me positive direction and personal fulfillment with dancing, that I still continue to enjoy to this day. In my honest opinion,  Social Style Ballroom dance studio is above and beyond a 5 star rating, I'd give it a 10 star rating in a dance beat....... Pete.....

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. We attended the first group class as…read morecomplete beginners, with one of us already experiencing significant anxiety about learning to dance. Rather than creating an encouraging and supportive environment for beginners, the instructor repeatedly and unnecessarily reprimanded one of us for attempting to help her partner follow the steps. The corrections were delivered in a manner that felt unnecessarily harsh and embarrassing in a group setting. We fully understand that learning a new skill takes time and that instructors need to provide direction. However, there is a significant difference between constructive instruction and repeatedly scolding a student. When we expressed our discomfort, the situation was not handled in a manner that reflected the level of professionalism or customer care we would expect. We ultimately decided that this was not an environment in which we wanted to continue learning. While we understand the stated no-refund policy, we were also disappointed that our concerns were met primarily by a reference to the policy rather than any meaningful acknowledgment of our experience. Beginners should leave a class feeling encouraged to return--not embarrassed for trying.

Our first trial lesson with Sylwia immediately sealed the deal and we had a large portion of our dance choreographed within the first couple lessons. Our package enabled us to have sufficient time and instruction before our big day, and we were very confident - although we have never danced before. Sylwia's professionalism, knowledge and patience made each lesson worth its while and enjoyable, and we could not have asked for a better instructor. She was very flexible in scheduling and understanding when conflicts arose during our busy pre-wedding season. She also offered a myriad of studio events in which we could participate; such as programs and socials. That way, if you wanted to continue dancing after the wedding, you had a taste of what the studio had to offer (which was alot!) Whether you are a seasoned dancer or a beginner, Sylwia caters to your needs and skills and crafts lessons and routines based on you. The quality and instruction you get at this studio is unparalleled and you will be exceptionally prepared and enthusiastic to dance the best dance of your life!
