I no longer go here as a client. While I still think they do good work, I needed a place with a more flexible schedule and a full-time receptionist. The whole phone tag business with a stylist was just too frustrating. It was also a pain in the *ss to pay cash only. Who even carries cash anymore? It was also nearly impossible to take 2 hr lunches to get my hair colored and foiled and needed something on weekends, even Sundays. If you live in the area and can accommodate middle of the day cuts and have a flexible schedule, certainly check them out. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I've been going to get my hair cut here for years! Marsha used to do my hair, but when her schedule got too busy and her daughter, Ashley, started working here, she referred me to her. I've been making my appointments with Ashley ever since! The price is definitely affordable and I get exactly what I want... And if I'm in need of recommendations, she's a great help. $35 for a wash, cut, and style! Doesn't get any better than that! In fact, even though I moved out to SF, I still come back to get my hair cut here... I just make it an extended trip and visit my parents in CV! I saw Michelle for the first time today, and I came away very pleased! It's a very relaxed, friendly atmosphere, and all the ladies there seemed very laid-back. I brought a picture, and Michelle spent some time with me going over the style and the quirks of my own hair and how to get the cut I wanted. In a lot of ways, this was a quick, no-nonsense cut. But Michelle took the time to explain what she was doing and why to me, and the best part was she TAUGHT me how to style my own hair. She actually went over blow dryer and flat iron technique, and showed me some different styles I could do with my new cut. Oh, and the cut itself was fabulous. I'll be back! read more

Christina did a great job with my hair. She was friendly, helpful & quick. She got my hubbie & I in & out in an hour. The vibe to this salon is pretty chill--not a pretentious atmosphere--you feel like you are at your friend's salon getting your haircut by your friend. I've been a loyal customer to Christina for a lonnnnngg time now and I love her! She's always helpful, and I always bring in a photo when I want a hair cut. Very small place, but very relaxed. Nothing loud or busy here. You know that you're going to get the job done when you come to this salon, I can promise you that. Everyone here is down to earth. Nothing like Stacey Monroe's. YUCK. I've been going to Michele for about five years and I would follow her wherever she goes. She is thorough, keeps note cards on all her clients and keeps up to date with all the latest techniques and products. She is very generous and always finds a way for me to try a new product or will let me return something if I don't like it. Her skills are amazing. She always seems to know what will be best for my hair and always knows exactly what to do when I describe to her what I want. If I try a new color or a new style that I don't like she will always fix it for me, no questions asked. She was also the first in the area to do Brazilian Blowouts and I was one of her first BB clients. I am now hooked! I have grown so attached to the work she does and the person that she is. I look forward to every grooming session with her as it is a mini vacation from my busy life. I have been going to Michelle for about a year now. We have tried different things with my hair and she is always incredibly thorough and so talented. She has consistently given me the best haircuts- regardless of the different styles I have requested. When I have had color and/or highlights they are always spot on. I never leave with "roots". On Tuesday I went in for a brand new short style. She cut off about 8" of hair. It was a beautiful cut and I left feeling great. On Wednesday I was back for the Brazilian Blowout. I have to say that this is like a miracle treatment. Today I got up and did NOTHING to my hair. This is a first ever for me. I normally have very frizzy hair. After the treatment it is smooth, soft, straight, and BEAUTIFUL. I have the hair that I have always dreamed of and NO DAMAGE. Amazing. I would recommend Michelle to anyone. Today was my first visit to this salon. I'm not ashamed to say (or maybe I am!) that I'm usually a "SuperCuts" kinda gal. I usually decide I must have my hair trimmed spur of the moment, after letting it go for months and months. For that reason I like a place I can pop into, get my do, and be on my way. But I was at a place emotionally where I needed a little more care. This place was referred to me by a trusted family member who has been going here for DECADES! Anyhow, I sit down in the chair and Marsha asks me to tell her what I have in mind. Well, I could do better...I brought with me an exact photograph ripped from the most recent Oprah magazine. She looked at the picture, and ran her fingers through my scraggly but otherwise healthy hair and said "that ain't gonna happen". Whaaat??? I'll admit, the woman in the photo was at least 20 years younger than me and somewhere deep down I was hoping I'd look EXACTLY like her when Marsha was done with me. But Marsha explained why it would not be smart to attempt the type of coloring I thought I was there for. She asked me to be specific about what type of products I'd recently applied to my own hair, and gently explained the options for getting a result that I'd be happy with. She exuded confidence and knowledge, and I trusted her wholly. She took her time every step of the way, was very precise in every movement, and provided friendly conversation all the while (and I'm usually adverse to beauty shop banter!). When all was said and done I had a cut and color that lifted my spirits and made me feel like a new woman. I'm sold on the personal service, and am already looking forward to making my next appointment with Innovations! This place rocks! read more

This is my Happy Place. Better than Shopping. I always leave feeling like a million dollars. I get lots of compliments on my hair. Marsha is my fountain of youth. She highlights my hair to hide the gray..... takes years off. Plus the haircuts always look cute, lay nice after washing and grow out gracefully. I decided to write this review because there simply is no where better to go to get your hair needs met. I have been going to Marsha for over 30 years and I am only 54 and she is younger!!! I have followed her to her present location and I live in Foster City. When I first became a client, I had extremely long hair. Marsha always listened to me and what I wanted and never tried to talk me into cutting it (which other stylists always tried to do). Over the years, my hair has gotten shorter, I now need color and I walk out of there happy everytime. My husband has also gone to Marsha for his haircuts. Ashley and Christina are wonderful, too. I have been goin to see Michele for a very long time! She is amazing at what she does and very deticated. I went in a few weeks ago and she did a brazilian blow out on my hair. This is a smoothing treatment that takes about 90 minutes to do and when it was over my hair was super smooth and healthy. Now all I have to do is blow dry my hair in the morning and go, I no longer need to straighten it! Michele is awsome at doing hair and will make sure you like it before you leave the shop! read more
