Dr Owen's did my laparoscopic cholecystectomy and he did a great job. The team was incredible too,…read morespecifically my pre-op and post-op nurse. I can't remember what her name was unfortunately but she was the sweetest woman ever and took such good care of me. I'm a little embarrassed because I was so out of it with the anesthesia that I could barely move my jaw and I think I was arguing with her about getting up and leaving so I really hope she reads this because I am so sorry and you are genuinely the nicest nurse ever! Literally made for the job! And thank you for helping me get my necklace back when it fell off. I knew better than to wear it in but I was nervous and I'm so grateful to you for getting it back to me. The front desk lady was also so sweet to me. With dr Owens, I saw some negative reviews about him and got a little nervous to be honest but I kind of think he's just misunderstood. He's got a very dry sense of humor but he's a nice man and a very good surgeon (in my very minor surgical experience. If you're having something more serious done, I can't speak on that). He told me that even though I've only had a severe gallstone attack once (when I discovered I have stones) that I should get it removed anyway because it will happen again and it can be risky. Plus, I have insurance right now. He chatted with me a bit about my school as I'm an MRI student and came in wearing my scrubs. When I got to the surgery center, everyone that would be working on me came to talk to me before the surgery and let me ask questions. I also went from waiting room to operating room in about 45 minutes I believe. Very quick and I'm very grateful I wasn't left nervous for a long time. Also, they let me get a photo of my gallbladder when it was out. Not important but I was thrilled. I don't think I should post it here because I mean, it is still an organ. For anyone getting a laparoscopic cholecystectomy since there are no specific reviews on it: I was glued shut and my 4 incisions, healed up very well. I have my follow up in a couple days to check in but the pain was minimal and the cuts now look like gnarly cat scratches that are healing. The glue is hanging on for dear life though. They use CO2 gas to inflate your abdomen so they do warn you of gas pain that can't really be resolved by the pain killers and that's pretty unpleasant. My shoulder hurt for a few days post-op but a rotation of heating pads and ice packs helped a lot. My incisions didn't really hurt much. They itch a little now that they're healing and the top one over my stomach would hurt a bit here and there. Also, the anesthesia is rough! I woke up and could barely move. I thought I've experienced anesthesia but this was definitely the deeper sleep the anesthesiologist mentioned. Anyway, overall I was sore for a few days and I slept a lot but I felt almost perfect within a week.

Had an emergent appendectomy, difficult to schedule post op appointment, after I finally made it,…read morewaited for over an hour for no updates in the office. Didn't see a dr and no sense of urgency to try to see me. ‍

I cannot say enough amazing things about Dr. Filip! From start to finish, my experience was…read moreincredible. He performed my liposuction and lesion (mole) removal, and I am beyond happy with my results. Not only did he shape my body beautifully and naturally, but he also made me feel comfortable, informed, and cared for every step of the way. The confidence I've gained after my procedures is honestly life changing. I feel so much more secure and happy with my body, and the lesion removal on my face gave me a whole new level of confidence as well. Dr. Filip has an amazing eye for detail and truly cares about his patients and their results. If you are looking for a surgeon who is skilled, professional, honest, and genuinely talented, I highly recommend Dr. Filip. Thank you for helping me feel like the best version of myself!

He then repeatedly stated that I was "the definition of anorexic." I explained that I have always been naturally thin, but instead of listening, he continued making assumptions about me personally and said the deeper issue was that I was unhappy with myself. I fully understand that a surgeon can decline elective surgery for medical or safety reasons. That was never the issue for me. The issue was the delivery, the judgmental tone, and the lack of professionalism and compassion throughout the interaction. At one point he even rolled his eyes while I was trying to explain myself. No patient should leave a consultation feeling humiliated or psychologically analyzed instead of medically evaluated. I am sharing my experience so others are aware of the bedside manner they may encounter here.

As I was…read moreleaving he said if you have an emergency before your surgery, call our office and head to the hospital and we will let them know you are coming. So of course on a Friday evening I had a major attack. I called their office after hours and left a message. I prayed I would make it to the hospital as it was in San Diego, an hour drive. Within about 15 minutes Dr. Burgess called back as he was on call that weekend. He assured me that the hospital knew that I was on my way and that he would take care of everything. He even engaged Dr Schultzel that evening. Dr Burgess performed my surgery and did a fantastic job. He calmed my nerves before surgery with confidence and useful information on what to expect afterward. I recently had shoulder surgery and was concerned about the after surgery gas pain so many people talk about in the shoulder area. He reassured me that he tried to remove as much as he can during surgery. I had zero pain from the gas. It is NOT possible to find a better surgeon. Dr. Burgess is hands down, the best. Also he is humble and not arrogant like so many other surgeons can be. Thank you Dr Burgess for your care.
