I've been following this place on Instagram and when I decided to get another tattoo for my 50th birthday, I went there based on the quality of the art. Ted worked with me to get it looking exactly the way I wanted, and he did a fabulous job while also being a great conversationalist! I will definitely return here the next time I want some more ink.

I love love love it at this tattoo shop. I got my first tattoo at this shop from Tony, who is one of the shop owners and had the most amazing experience. He liked my original idea, showed me two versions and I ended up liking his idea better than my own and love it! My second tattoo was from Emily who no longer works there, but the experience was still great none the less. I was able to sit in with my best friend for her first tattoo while Amanda did her thing. I've never had a bad experience here, Everyone is helpful and easy to talk to, I recommend this tattoo shop and the many artists to anyone I know, I even got my husband a gift certificate for this shop specifically (yes, you can do that) If you're looking for a comfortable place to get your first tattoo or a place to be a regular at, this is the place I recommend!

Great artists to have conversations with, absolutely welcoming. Gotten a couple tattoos with Andy and she's the best, light handed and amazing at her work. As soon as I stepped in for my first tattoo my dad and I was offered Chic-Fil-A by Ted. Just got my 3rd session done yesterday with Andy and she's the best, Gwenda (or Glenda) the shops apprentice is extremely nice as well. Would recommend going here if you want to be well taken care of, and want amazing work done, all artists are amazing.

Me and my friend came in today to get matching tattoos. As you can see by the pictures we very clearly did not leave with the same tattoo. My friends tattoo is not the same shape or even spacing as mine. The tattoos were drawn on with sharpie instead of there being a stencil used, and that is very obvious by how they turned out. I dont know what we're supposed to do with this, but there is no reason we should have paid for something that messy. I'm not sure if this is fixable, but I didn't want to keep it without saying something.

Ted is awesome. He's a good artist and he takes his time. He's a little more on the expensive side. But I think it's worth it for a sense of security knowing I'm getting his best effort and patience. I've been under his needle for about 16 hours so far and have about another 16 to go, and I don't regret any of it. He's open to idea and has a flexible schedule. His line work, attention to detail, and shading are insane.

Amanda is AMAZING! I am so happy she helped fix my tattoo. Left pic is before, right is after. As you can see, I was left with a horrendous coloring job on my mermaid- not at all how I wanted it to turn out. I emailed ink illusions with photos asking if they could help and Amanda was quick to respond and take on the job. She was very clear and honest in not knowing exactly how it would turn out, as she was coloring over someone else's work which I appreciated. During the appointment, we took things step by step, trying a color and seeing how it looked. She was very communicative, knowledgeable, and on top of that, so friendly and fun to talk to! I have many tattoos and have never had such a great experience with an artist. 10/10 would recommend and will be back for more!

I've gotten three tattoos total here (so far) and I haven't had a single problem with any of them. My first tattoo was with Amanda, and while I didn't take care of it very well it still looks incredible after 5-6 years. I've worked with Ted twice now and his line work is PERFECT! I didn't have a solid idea of what I wanted for my second piece, just a couple images I had for reference, and he took in my suggestions and made a perfect piece of art for me. After we were done with the base design, he suggested a couple changes to the tattoo to make it look better - and it definitely makes the tattoo 5x better. He also has a very light hand, and it's very clear he loves what he does and takes a lot of pride in his work. I seriously can't recommend this shop enough.

In early March I got my largest tattoo done by Ted. First of all, Ted is just an all around amazing, kind, and down-to-earth dude with a good sense of humor- exactly the kind of person you want to interact with especially if your nervous or not familiar with the process of getting a tattoo. From the beginning Ted was easy to interact with and gave me exactly what I wanted in terms of the style I wanted my piece to look like. As a health care provider I felt very comfortable and sanitary in Ted's room (including their COVID protocol), and was absolutely thrilled with how my tattoo turned out. Ted is a true artist and a master of fine lines!! I will be back :)

I have gotten my 2 tattoos here and both experiences were great! My first one has held up well I think it's been about 2 years and it still surprises me when I see it sometimes. For my second tattoo I decided to go for the tops of my feet! OUCH ‍ Nate was great though and I love my tattoos. He did my daughter and my husband all in the same day. My daughters tattoo is beautiful and my husbands is great too! In fact he's headed back for his third one this weekend with Nate. I was s little overzealous with what I thought I needed to do for my feet so they will need a touch up. My fault not theirs. I went to Disneyland a couple weeks ago and I got compliments on them the day I wore flip flops I think every artist here does fantastic work. Highly recommend!!

Incredible service and quality. My best friend and I had matching8-year-old tattoos that we wanted a little revamp on. We have Ted a few tough ideas, but they were pretty vague because we really didn't know what we wanted. He drew up an amazing sketch and we loved it right away. 27 year old Cover Up by Amanda The best experience from start to finish! I got the referral from my daughter to see Amanda and I could not be happier. She is such a pleasure to work with, so talented, honest and very funny. She was quick to learn about me and took the time to draw up a couple different designs until I was completely happy. After careful looking around, I can say that my friend and I were very happy to have found Amanda for our tattoos! She was quick to respond to emails, very professional and calm. She kept us engaged in conversation the whole time (took less than expected!) and was still very concentrated in her work. You can tell she loves it and is such a pro. Went here for my first tattoo based on reviews I read and previous work I saw online. After meeting with Ted for consultation and discussing tattoo ideas I had, he came back with a phenomenal drawing that was just what I was looking for. Ted was fantastic to work with. Very personable person and likes to get to know his clients and THEIR wants. Not only is he a great tattoo artist, but also a perfectionist (which is what you want in a tattoo artist in my opinion). I can't say he looks like the "typical" tattoo artist... just sayin' but does great work and I for one will be recommending Ted to others looking for a quality tattoo. Plus I am already thinking of my next tattoo!! read more

I'm very happy with the outcome of my Tattoo. Thank you Ted!!! all I did was tell him what I wanted and showed up it exceeded my expectations. I walked away with the idea of turning my one tattoo into sleeve! I think I will take his suggestion and expand on the idea. So I'll be coming to get more ink done very soon!! Wow! Tony is a great guy and a great artist. I went there one day for my first tattoo after I got his recommendation from a friend. I already had design in mind, so we talked about it and then he asked me to confirm the design via email before the actual appointment if I change my mind but I didn't and I went with the same design. On the day of inking, the design didn't fit as I wanted and we spend probably 2 hours to figure out another design and got another appointment. 2nd appointment, everything went well and got inked. He charged only for the 2nd appointment even though he spend 2 hours on the first. That was awesome. Of course the tattoo is nice and I love it. He even offered to come one more time to thicken border for free of charge. read more

Tony Rocks!! He is very open an honest about what will work and what will not. Gives great insight from his many years experience what will look great for the long game. I opted to have him do a custom design for my sleeve and I could not love it any more. He is a true artist and genuinely cares that you will love and be happy with your piece. I was given clear and simple instructions on how to care for my tattoo and I left a very happy customer. I was nervous about getting my first tattoo done, but Amanda made this a great experience! The consult was very quick, but when I came back a few days later for the actual appointment, she had taken my drawings and made a really nice paw print design. I wanted to get this done to remember my dog I recently lost, and I'm so happy to feel like I always have him with me. The tattoo turned out even better than what I had pictured in my mind! Also, I'm really thankful for her advice on placement. I was really indecisive, going back and forth between my ankle or my shoulder. She encouraged me to get it where I really wanted it, and thought this particular design would look good on my ankle. I decided to do it, even though I had heard it's a painful spot, and she was very supportive and got me through the whole process. The price was very reasonable. First of all, the convenience of booking my appt on FB was incredible. I have small kiddos so I rarely have the quiet space to have a phone call. I was a little nervous to get a blatantly Christian tattoo since so many people have such varying views on who Jesus is. Andy was my artist and she was incredible! I felt instantly comfortable, we talked about our kids, our lives, our parents, our marriages, it felt like I was just with a friend. I had to give her a squeeze before I left. Got my first body piercing here (nose) about 6 weeks ago. Jo was PHENOMENAL. As a previous reviewer stated - she thoroughly educated me on the process, what to expect, how to care for my piercing - she even offered her personal number if I had any issues while she wasn't in the studio. I never doubted I was in very capable hands - and now everything is healed and it looks fabulous! I would go back to Jo in a heartbeat and recommend her to all my friends. read more

Would not recommend going to Amanda. I got a simple heart outline on my wrist and the line work is terrible. Two of my friends went to her one of which got a solid black piece which was very spotted and she also got scared and ended up going to a different place to get it fixed. Another friend of mine regrets going to her because once again, line work was terrible. read more

Find this place by accident. Love it big time. Ted and Amanda did some great work on me, lots of work. I am not easy to work with, hard time to take pain, so big thank you guys for your patience. my family all went to get a whacky robot tattoo and Ted and Tony did a great job! it was very clean, the guys were very nice and helpful. tony did my tattoo and was super nice. this was my first tattoo and I got very lightheaded but he was very compassionate and made sure I wasn't going to pass out. the tattoo looks so great and I'm recommending this shop to anyone who asks. can't wait to go back for my next tattoo! read more

Meet the Manager: Tony C.

Tony Callan is a veteran in the tattoo scene for 30 years. He started his career working for the Seattle tattoo Emporium and learnt from PA Steven, Danny Danzel, Smitty, and numerous artists there. Over the course of his career, he had managed several other shops in the Seattle area and Ink Illusions Tattoo is his latest creation.

The bathroom was clean & also well decorated. This entire place is very clean & well-organized. We were both tattooed by their apprentice Hannah. She's only been tattooing for 2 years and it is very evident that she has a very bright & fruitful future ahead of her! Aside from her tattoo skill, she is super nice, has great energy, and a great conversationalist! At no point during our time did I feel awkward or uncomfortable (which I tend to feel sometimes in social situations). She placed both of our stencils perfectly on the first attempt and made sure we were 100000% satisfied with it before starting the process. Before starting my tattoo, I told her about my nearly non-existent pain tolerance and advised her of what my tattoo safe word was lol. She is not heavy handed (no shade to artists that are heavy handed) and ensured to check-in with my husband & I periodically throughout the process to make sure we were both still doing okay. I've been very skeptical about getting a lady's face on my body since I've seen many botched faces but Hannah gave me the prettiest & cutest face I could've asked for! I've also seen plenty of botched American traditional eagle pieces and to say she NAILED IT is simply an understatement. My husband & I were both done in 4 hours and the price was extremely fair. We have already determined that we will be returning to her for our upcoming anniversary tattoos. Also, after the tattoo, Hannah offered us hot compresses. I've gotten tattooed at plenty of places in the past and have never had a hot compress. Let me tell you!!! The hot compress was life changing and felt like a nice warm hug on your tattoo. She informed us that it helped with the swelling & healing process and I can definitely tell a difference! I will never decline a hot compress moving forward haha. When we were there, we got to meet the other artist Andrew, who is also Hannah's mentor. He had great vibes & was a great conversationalist as well. We got to see his finished piece on someone else and it was DOPE! When we were done with our tattoos, she had Andrew look at both of them and received his seal of approval. If you have a chance to swing by Mammoth and get tattooed by either one of them, you will not regret it!

I am beyond furious with the way Pierced Hearts handled my sister's navel piercing. From the start,…read morethis experience has been a disaster due to sheer negligence and a complete lack of accountability. My sister clearly explained to the piercer, Jaime, that she has a very flat belly button and specifically asked if the standard navel jewelry would be appropriate. He confidently said yes -- and we trusted his professional judgment. That trust was completely misplaced. As time passed, the jewelry began to embed itself into her skin, which should never have happened with the right jewelry in the first place. We returned to the shop, and Adam helped change it to a floating navel piercing -- the type she should have received from day one. He apologized and even took a photo of the damage because it was obvious something had gone terribly wrong. But the damage had already been done. Within a week, she developed a severe infection -- one that urgent care later confirmed was likely due to the original jewelry creating a gaping wound that never healed properly. Despite following aftercare instructions to the letter, she ended up on two antibiotics and hydrocodone just to manage the pain. Yet when we returned to the shop a third time to request a refund and share what she was going through, the staff were incredibly dismissive and refused to take any responsibility. They immediately shifted blame, accusing her of neglecting aftercare, even though we were meticulous. No effort was made to offer a solution, express genuine concern, or show even the slightest empathy. Just said "well, do you want to get it pierced again?!" ... no! Her belly button area now is completely bruised and mangled because of this place. We will never be coming back here again. To make matters worse, the owner was outright disrespectful and condescending over the phone. When we told him that medical professionals advised removing the piercing and draining the infection, her arrogant response was, "Why would they do that?!" as if she knew better than actual doctors. That tone alone spoke volumes about how little they care once they have your money. We asked for a refund because of all the trouble we've been through after the negligence of the first piercer, now having to pay for urgent care visits and medication. I chose this shop based on their glowing reviews, but let me be clear: if you're considering any body piercing here, don't. They might be decent with ear piercings or tattoos -- but when it comes to body piercings, especially anything more complex, they are careless, unprofessional, and utterly unwilling to take accountability when something goes wrong. My sister went in for a simple piercing and walked away in physical pain and emotional distress, and not once did they offer real help, only excuses. This shop failed her. Completely.

Do Not Use Marc! I went weeks before, priced the tattoo I…read morewanted and paid a $100 deposit in cash because he said he could give me a deal if I paid in cash. The day of the tattoo, he screwed around for 45 minutes and when he went to place the tattoo, I told him that it was supposed to be bigger and he now tells me he can't do it bigger. I say fine, I've already waited for him to draw it out and have two smoke breaks. He then proceeds to complain during the entire tattoo about how he was doing such great work for so little price. For three hours he complained that I was basically short changing him on a price he agreed to beforehand. At the end off the three hours he informs me that my time was up even though he had not applied shading or details to make it look anything other than what a 6th grader could do. I'm pretty upset by this point. When I get to the register he tells the girl that I owe full price. When I remind him that I gave him the deposit, (she said he had not put it in the computer) he just said charge her the full price and walked off. Did not feel like getting stabbed so I just threw the money on the counter and left. What a thieving, unprofessional jerk. so beware.

Visited several tattoo parlors to find out pricing, all were pretty close in hourly rates. However! Some would talk badly about all the other parlors and that they were the ones that would be the best. LoL I decided to stop by "Ink Illusions" and spoke with the owner "Tony" and one of his tattooist "Ted" they both were very pleasant to talk with and put me at ease and understood what I wanted on my forearm. I repeat "what I wanted". I decided to have Ted be my artist. Honestly at first I was a bit weary for this was going to be a tattoo all would see. I have other tats that I'm not proud to show off but I just deal with it. You should never have to feel that way for something that is forever. This tattoo of my tiger is one of the best on my body. Ink illusions you all ROCK!! I can't wait to go back and have my dragon placed on my other forearm. Also I will definitely have them fix my tats that I'm not happy with from other parlors that messed up. Thank you so much "TED" for your awesome work! I will be coming back. read more

Long story short, amazing service and excellent artwork. I came in with a friend over last weekend. I was trying to get one of my tattoos fixed and my friend wanted a small space needle. After calling about 3 or 4 shops near the Seattle area (no one took walk ins/ everyone was at the tattoo convention), we decided to look for a shop by where we live (Woodinville-Redmond) this one popped up with 5 stars. We gave Ted a call and he fit us right into his schedule. We had to wait for a short consultation that was scheduled in advance, but honesty it was no hassle because of the service, and you can look at the tattoos in the binders they have. Ted fixed my tattoo and I couldn't be happier with the finished product, and he gave me friend her Seattle Space Needle tattoo. They were both rad! Thank you so much Ted and Ink Illusions! Love love love. I can't say enough how wonderful both my experiences here have been. I'd never dream of going anywhere else now! Incredibly nice staff, laid back atmosphere, no pressure or intimidation. They're all super helpful and talented!! Amanda has done my last two pieces and I couldn't be happier with them. They'll tell you what works and what doesn't and why, but you won't have to argue for what you want at Ink Illusions- they want to make sure your permanent art is something that YOU will like forever, it's not about the artist's ego (I've had my fair share of that issue unfortunately.) I was referred to ink illusions by all my friends, who were all of the sudden getting lots of tattoo's there. I walked in, nervous because I used to find tattoo artists intimidating, and found that the artists were actually really cool, I never felt like they were looking down at me. I especially liked the passion my artist there showed. He informed me about how my tattoo would look over the years while helping me decide what to get, and he was cool with my friends coming in and watching. Overall, I approve this shop. read more

I got my first tattoo about 10 years ago from Tony and he recently finished a 30hr back piece that turned out amazing. Haven't had any work done by Ted or Amanda but Ive witnessed several pieces done by them and their work is great. Nate is the best! I went in only knowing which Bible verse I wanted (James 1.12) but didn't have much of an idea on the size of the font and the font type. Nate gave me great direction on some options that would be best, taking into account the quality of the tattoo over its lifetime. In about 20 minutes Nate collaborated with me as he put together the design and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. As I'm typing this up today I plan to contact him tomorrow for another.
