    Bad ass tattoo!
    Jason Z.

Thomas gave me a perfect tattoo! I was happy with him and the studio from the beginning to the end. Thanks!

Amazing!!! Ashley did a fantastic job on my son's leg!! Great colors - great time management & very very clean! Word of advise: Make an appt & make it far enough in advance!

Vintage microphone, light flares in background (Thomas's idea with the light flares... he was on point!) It's fresh in the pic

I am in the process of a sleeve, new to the area and ended up picking 522 tattoo, and Thomas is doing my current tattoo, and he is AMAZING!!! I have several tattoos and his isn't even done and it's already the best one I have! I'll update with more photos when it's finished. But it's truly amazing! My request wasn't the easiest and my arms are skinny so the area he had to work with wasn't very big and my tattoo (a grizzly bear and vintage microphone) is needing a lot of details and his design and placement are perfect. So far he finished the microphone today and it's absolutely beautiful! I highly recommend! If you are wanting a "best tattoo on your body" go to Thomas!! You won't be disappointed. I was getting compliments on just his line work! Can't wait to show this off!!

Ben Wallenborn did a very poor job on my memorial tattoo. I provided a basic drawing and asked him to design something more out of it, but when I arrived for the appt he had simply traced my drawing. He overworked/cut me in several places, and despite me taking excellent care of the tat, it became infected. When I showed him the tattoo by email he denied that it was infected. The doctor prescribed an antibiotic and its now healing up well. He then cancelled our next appointment to finish putting in the color and refused to refund the deposit on file... he's refusing to provide the service and refusing to refund the money, so he's stealing from me after traumatizing my Dad's memorial tattoo. There are many holidays (no ink) in the areas that he cut up. The outline is very inconsistent, the circles are wonky, and there are many blowouts through out...It's a cool design despite his poor performance, and he did nice work on the color shading that he put in. I've had several other tattoo artists apprise the work before deciding to write a bad review and all agreed that I ought to be refunded for the tattoo and that it looks like an apprentice did the line work. Ben should be ashamed of himself for stealing from me especially after messing up my memorial tattoo... I had to attend the memorial with an infected forearm.

I love this place. I've seen Thomas twice now for tattoos, and each time he made sure they were exactly what I wanted. The first one was a family tattoo, and his attention to detail was phenomenal. I just got my second tattoo from Thomas last night. He answered my questions about placement, even moved the stencil around to ensure it looked as great as it could. He explained the aftercare instructions in detail and asked if I had any further questions. I cant wait to go see him for my next upcoming tattoos.

I was fortunate enough to have Ben do my first 3 pieces over ten years ago but lost touch with him after moving out of state. I was in town visiting my daughter who is a freshman at Seattle Pacific University and half joked with her that we should get matching tattoos while I am here. She was all for it and after stopping in Ben's old stomping ground we found out that he has opened his own shop. SCORE! I have been putting off my next tattoo because I really wanted him to do all of mine. So I called the shop right away and spoke to Amber. She is awesome! After explaining what we wanted she was able to get us in the very next day - DOUBLE SCORE! I emailed her a pic of what we wanted and we made our deposit over the phone. Ben was fantastic as usual. Very laid back, warm and personable and great to talk with. There's no sitting there awkwardly in silence, it's as if your buddy is doing your tattoo for you at his ridiculously awesome shop. The shop is not your ordinary stainless steel, cold looking shop covered from floor to ceiling in flash art. This place looks like a really cool art gallery with some epic freakin pieces displayed, most done by the shops insanely talented artists. Amber offered everyone in our party beverages and they have a cool bar style counter that runs the length of the shop floor on the outer edge with bar stools so you can sit and watch the masters at work. My daughter and I are now the proud owners of two badass "The Office" themed pieces of art. I can not wait to go back and see Ben on a regular basis now that I know where his new home is. Thanks Ben, Amber and the rest of the crew at 522!

    Murphy tattoo.... can't be happier

Roni has done several tattoos for me and has done most of the work my daughter-in-law has and is an excellent artist. When I started thinking about a portrait of my dog I knew that 522 would be the place for me. Based on portfolio work I decided that Marc would be perfect to create my vision of my beloved Murphy. That was also a challenging tattoo because I wanted it to be a coverup as well. Marc took on the challenge and created an imagine of my dog that capture him as I remember. When my husband saw my tattoo he said "its Murphy to a T". My dog passed away in June 2014 and I am so glad to have him with me daily in the only way possible! I also have to say that this shop is immaculate, comfortable and has the most amazing staff ever! I really can't say enough good things about 522 Tattoo. You can't go wrong with any of the artist but if you want a fabulous and amazing portrait then Marc is your guy!

They offered a free consult which few shops do. I go there they had a screen of all different lion tattoo variations. A specific program for tattooing. Very cool. They printed out a few I liked and we three discussed pros and cons of size and placement. Ying, myself, and Connor the tattoo artist. I embarrassingly had to reschedule a couple sessions and arrived late for my first one (100% my fault) and they established with great kindness a boundary around time while giving me the full time of tattooing. They could have charged me the hour I was late (bad communication on my part) they did not. Now don't take that as permission to do what I did cause you might (and should) be charged, but I share this to show how friendly, understanding, and at the same time professional they are. Took two sessions a total of 7 1/2 hrs I think. Second session I was on time ;) Connor starts a stop watch when he begins and shows you. That's when the charging begins , and stops the stop watch immediately when he's done , and shows you as well. I thought that was very cool of him and all ships should do that. The place was sparkling clean, organized, and worth Connors time. He's an amazing artist.

The walls are covered with flash art and we both chose pieces that were on their walls & in their flash books. I loved the music they had playing and the overall ambience of the place. The bathroom was clean & also well decorated. This entire place is very clean & well-organized. We were both tattooed by their apprentice Hannah. She's only been tattooing for 2 years and it is very evident that she has a very bright & fruitful future ahead of her! Aside from her tattoo skill, she is super nice, has great energy, and a great conversationalist! At no point during our time did I feel awkward or uncomfortable (which I tend to feel sometimes in social situations). She placed both of our stencils perfectly on the first attempt and made sure we were 100000% satisfied with it before starting the process. Before starting my tattoo, I told her about my nearly non-existent pain tolerance and advised her of what my tattoo safe word was lol. She is not heavy handed (no shade to artists that are heavy handed) and ensured to check-in with my husband & I periodically throughout the process to make sure we were both still doing okay. I've been very skeptical about getting a lady's face on my body since I've seen many botched faces but Hannah gave me the prettiest & cutest face I could've asked for! I've also seen plenty of botched American traditional eagle pieces and to say she NAILED IT is simply an understatement. My husband & I were both done in 4 hours and the price was extremely fair. We have already determined that we will be returning to her for our upcoming anniversary tattoos. Also, after the tattoo, Hannah offered us hot compresses. I've gotten tattooed at plenty of places in the past and have never had a hot compress. Let me tell you!!! The hot compress was life changing and felt like a nice warm hug on your tattoo. She informed us that it helped with the swelling & healing process and I can definitely tell a difference! I will never decline a hot compress moving forward haha. When we were there, we got to meet the other artist Andrew, who is also Hannah's mentor. He had great vibes & was a great conversationalist as well. We got to see his finished piece on someone else and it was DOPE! When we were done with our tattoos, she had Andrew look at both of them and received his seal of approval. If you have a chance to swing by Mammoth and get tattooed by either one of them, you will not regret it!

Andrew is so patient and answers every question I have about the design, placement, and size in a way that allows me to see the vision and also provide clarity when needed. Andrew is incredibly talented and can do any type of tattoo. I have also really appreciated how honest he is when I ask for feedback on what an idea would look like several years from now. I've had a few ideas of how I want tattoos to look and Andrew always gets the vision right on the first try. Andrew tends to be very available and is very speedy. I'm normally in and out within 30-45 min max. The pricing is also super reasonable. The vibe of the studio is great. The artists love to have fun and joke around with their clients and one another. The building itself is a tad space restricted but they always find a way to make room. Definitely check out Andrew at Mammoth for your next tattoo!

The shop was dirty and chaotic (and I get it, it was busy, but the shared supplies looked disorganised). On top of that, there was a man who came in that everyone was buddy-buddy with, who took out a marijuana joint and made the whole place reek of weed. He asked for a light and thankfully, one of the artists told him he'd have to go outside if he wanted to smoke, but another artist gave him another joint. I thought he was the owner because of the way everyone was interacting with him, but I later figured out he was there as a client. I'm sensitive to smells, esp. marijuana and cigarettes so I did my best not to gag physically. Normally, I wouldn't fault a shop for something their client did because it's not like you can control your customers' behaviour, but you can to an extent (like not encouraging pot use in an enclosed space full of other people). However, this is the first time I've ever encountered this at a tattoo shop (and I've been getting tattoos for almost 10 years now). Because the style is surrealism/realism, I know I'm going to need a touch-up in about 2 years, which is really unfortunate because I have to find a different shop and a different artist who is willing to do touch ups of someone else's work. Overall: 5/5 for the artist because it was straightforward, no talking, just tattooing, and the only reason for the 2 star rating. 0/5 for the shop itself
