I recently completed a sorta-midlife-crisis item and got my ears pierced. The piercer was very kind and even allowed my kids to check it out while it was being done. I had to go back a couple of times for help with my right ear that was giving me some issues when healing and another piercer was incredibly helpful and even refilled my cleaning solution. Service at a tattoo or piercing shop seems like a really odd thing, but this place excels at it. Highly recommended. read more

This is a late review of an experience in early October 2020. I really wanted to post a positive review of me & my other half's experience here, but it just didn't pan out properly at all. We both came here last minute (yes, I know last minute tats are a bad idea) to get simple star tattoos to commemorate our first trip together. Obviously did not go as planned. I will give the parlor credit for taking us in as basically walk-ins during a time when walk-ins are typically not allowed. My experience with our artist was decent. I did find it a little off-putting that she seemed distracted a bit while tattooing (talking to her coworker, discussing coffee and lunch with them, focusing more on the small talk with me), but I can say that my other half got it worse. She had a full convo about what she wanted for lunch, and made enough of a deal about it that he get she was overly-distracted by it. He also felt very uncomfortable as the artist pushed him to discuss identity politics - not a suitable topic of conversation for us - and straight out said "I hate white men" to him, who is a white male. Regardless of where you stand on the racial or social issues spectrum, the entirety of that interaction is professionally unacceptable. Flash forward to present day, and we're both in the process of getting our tattoos removed. It was supposed to be a simple, linework-only compass star with some stippling toward the center. Holy BLOWOUT. Both of our tattoos ended up looking like an abstract snowflake drawn by a 5th grader. No joke, the quality is comparable to that of an 11 year old's "Super S" notebook drawing. Our takeaway from this is to take the time to research who you want to do your tattoos, no matter how small or simple the request may be. read more

I just finished getting my second tattoo from Echo and had my second great experience. The artist that did my first piece is no longer there, but i have met Clayton before and was happy to work with him this time. Clayton has such a great personality and just puts you right at ease from start to finish. He did a perfect job on a simple but sentimental piece for me. It's so clear that he has a lot of respect for his trade and treats it truly as an artform. The shop is clean, and everyone is both professional and casual at the same time. My friend was tattooed by a woman with purple hair (unsure of your name I'm sorry) she was so sweet and did an awesome job on his tattoo, my tattoo was done by a guy named Reuben, hilarious, awesome genuine dude. The tattoos were super reasonably priced unlike the $150 minimums in the city/Capitol Hill area, I paid $80 for my tattoo in total. Absolutely incredible experience here. From the moment I called to make an appointment for my piercings, Clayton was very informative and easy to talk to. I had three piercings done, my rook and a double helix. He walked me through the process and made sure I was comfortable. Told me what to expect, and did an excellent job. He triple checked that the locations where exactly what I wanted before he started. The whole process was efficient and professional, but fun and laid back. Got my first tattoo from echo today. Neil did my tattoo and was great. I was going to slave to the needle and they were getting too expensive, so I decided to try them out. They're cheap for amazing work. Neil hand drew the tattoo and got to work fast. He took my idea I had and made it look better than I could even imagine. They're clean and friendly. Plus I found out they had a fundraiser to help kids with cleft palate and raised 1500 for those kids. Makes me like them even more. A+ work for good prices. At first I thought this tattoo shop was a good place but looks aren't always what they seem. I went to get a memorial tattoo done for my mom my tat was done by Ruben we went over the drawing and for the lining , detail, color my moms name and dates i was quoted 400$ he even said " does 400 work for you for this tattoo " I said yes thats perfect I can work with that he said ok.. A couple of days later july 10th 2020 we did the tattoo it was the lining and detail first no color yet started at about 530pm ended at about 10pm.. I gave him my card he confirmed with me " 400 right?" I said yep 400 and as he was running my card he said " it'll be 451.00 the 51 is for service fees and charges which I thought was strange but ok. Then he said " the next time you come in so we can finish the tattoo the ONLY thing you will need to pay is the TIP thats it.. U know when your running someone's card its pretty rude to mention your tip just alittle ignorant. So 2wks goes by i call to book my next appointment to finish my tat we schedule for the following wk so 3 wks after I started was when I was supposed to have this finished or so I thought. I went back for my final session ( color name dates) Ruben says to me so I'm not trying to get more money out of you but.. How much are you willing to pay today I won't charge another 400 but I need to do at least 200 And I was like well wait a minute we agreed on 400 for to the entire tattoo and you said when I come in next time all I need to pay is the tip and thats the only money I have on me is for the tip!! Well... We charge 120 an HR blah blah blah and I was like but you didnt say it'll be 400 for today's.work you said 400 for the tattoo your words not mine!! And he looks at me with this dumbshit look and says " did I really say that" like really dude OMG!!!! Then says to himself " Man Ruben your slippin" ... So I call the next day to speak with the owner Clayton to complain he said he would get it figured out then call me back in a hr or so but he NEVER DID I called back and said this is how you treat customers I was so pissed and he had the nerve to be an ass an say " you need to calm down" in a very demanding tone.. This whole experience has been horrible I feel disrespected I feel my moms memorial was disrespected and i was taken advantage off they do not know how to run a tattoo shop and I do not recommend going here. I mean Ruben even had the nerve to point out the mistakes he made in my tattoo ... This shop gets a major thumbs down. Not to mention this situation caused me major anxiety to were I ended up in the ER on an ekg machine ( heart machine) thats how stressed out I got. read more

My daughter and I have wanted to get matching ink since before she turned 18. She's now 20. It's taken awhile...Coming up with the prefect design idea was one of the challenges for us but we finally came up with one and went in search of an artist who could make it happen. We found Lisa. She took my very crude sketch and basic idea and immediately created exactly what we had in mind. It was awesome! She was able to take us right away and we are thrilled with her work. She was a total sweetheart and we enjoyed not only her work but the pleasure of her company as well. And... I didn't even pass out this time (yeah... needle phobias are an embarrassing pain). Plus we got to grab a treat from her candy jar aftetwards. Absolutely recommend and can't wait to go back for our next ones. Maybe I'll even drag my ink-virgin boyfriend in to get his first. This place is above a bar. I was afraid it would be sketchy but it was clean and professional. The guy was very knowledgeable and personable but also didn't dither around asking me if I was sure or anything like that. You may not believe me, but the piercing didn't hurt at all! I've had injections that hurt more. It was very fast and I didn't even bleed. 15 minutes afterwards there wasn't even any redness, it looked like it had been there for ages. Healing up beautifully. Their salt spray is perfect, and you can tell they put thought into getting the right packaging to make it easy to use. Would recommend. Would go again; probably will go again! read more

A lot of times tattoo artists will just do whatever to whoever, but he will be honest with you and will do an awesome job. I came here with a friend who had been here before this afternoon. The space they recently moved to is lovely and very clean. I got my nipples pierced and she needed to get a refill of her sea salt spray and Clayton was a delight to work with. When we got there we was working on a consultation with a client, so we sat on the couch and looked through the portfolios they have on display. When he was done with the client, he asked if we had been helped or if we needed anything. When I told him what I wanted done, he gave me some paperwork to fill out, took my id and photocopied it on my release form, and then took my back to a private room to do my piercings. He was very professional and eased my major nerves easily. His voice was very soothing and he explained everything he was doing well. He was more than willing to let me hold my friend's hand and didn't say anything rude when I squealed (or screamed.... maybe just a little). He was very good about distracting me, told me some personal stories and talked about his job and such, and there was lots of stuff on the wall to look at for me to not feel like I needed to watch him pierce me. Once the piercings were done and the jewelry was in, he was very delicate with cleaning the blood off and making sure that they were even. Once we were done, he was very patient with me putting my top back on and being ready to leave. Although it was painful, he did his best to make the experience as comfortable as possible. Overall, I would give Echo 10 stars if I could (Or at least Clayton.) read more

My son wanted to get his first tattoo while he was in town visiting. It was sort of a last minute thing and I wasn't sure who would take walk ins. Found Echo on Yelp, loved the reviews, so gave them a call. What a great decision! Jamie did this amazing circuitry tattoo that turned out great! She had some great suggestions to the tattoo that would allow him to continue the circuitry up his arm without looking like a different tattoo. While I was there, I caught the tattoo bug as well. Had been contemplating a new tattoo for years, but didn't put too much thought into it. A few days earlier had found this beautiful, simple wildflower design that I thought would look great on my arm. Lisa did it for me and it turned out perfect! I can't stop looking at it, I love it so much. Do not hesitate to use Echo. I plan on coming back here to to refresh a 15 year old orchid tattoo on my ankle. I know it's going to look great! read more
