I was a new patient to Dr Injoo Han on May 14, 2024. He explained my treatment plan in a gruff, rude and condescending manor. He was extremely impatient at addressing my questions and concerns. I was facing 3 root canals under existing front tooth crowns so I had some concerns. He cut me off at each question I asked and became increasingly angry and responded to each in an angry, raised voice. I abruptly asked him why he was being so rude and yelling at me? I told him, this is no way to speak to your patients, at which point he became even angrier. He screamed and raised his hand as if to strike me. I immediately got up to leave. He continued screaming at me as he followed me to the waiting room. 2 staff members witnessed this abuse and literally blocked him from advancing any closer to me. They looked as terrified of him as I was. This man has extreme anger issues and should in NO WAY be entrusted with patient care. My very next step is a formal complaint to the dental board, and to my attorney. Please find yourself another Dentist. read more

I went in today only for X-rays this big Mexican lady I have never seen before, came out to call me in. she was very rough, stretched my mouth out, and shoved in the devices. not at all gentle. I have never had this kind of experience with X-rays. very rough, very rude and didn't seem to know what she was doing . Then after I went out in the waiting room, she threw her hands up in the air to the other assistant, indicating I was not coperative. I have never experienced anyone like her in a dentist office. I could barely understand her, and when I asked her to repeat what she said, she was mad and rude. read more

I have read every single one of the very negative reviews about this practice... And, yes, been part of the Yelp community for a number of years and fully realize that each of us has our own view of product and service quality, as well as level of professional interaction between patient and provider... Not at all sure where those negative reviews came from... Ours is nothing but positive... My wife and I have had nothing but positive experiences over the past several years with this dental practice... That includes each and very person we've encountered from the front desk to the X-Ray techs to the hygienist to Dr. Han himself... Whether routine clean and check or more extensive corrective dentistry, the staff and the doctor have taken the time to explain each step... They have identified options and various solutions... They have even identified procedures that can be delayed without concern even though those delays would reduce their income stream... We have noticed in the waiting room a wide range of ages being served by this dentistry... Children, young adults and "seasoned" citizens as my wife and me... All have been greeted, seated, called and seen in a timely and professional manner... In summary, I have no difficulty recommending this practice... read more

I've seen many negative reviews about Preventive Dental and Dr. Han and wanted to introduce my experience, which was nothing short of amazing! Last week, I had FIVE root canals. In one appointment. Dr. Han was wonderful! He is very kind, gentle, and thorough. He stopped every few minutes to see if I was okay or experiencing any discomfort. I've never had a more pleasant experience in a dental chair. In fact, I fell asleep during the procedure! It really saddens me to see all the negative reviews about Preventive Dental and Dr. Han, because those kinds of reviews can absolutely have an impact on a person's livelihood. My experience of Dr. Han and Preventive Dental was fantastic and I want to ensure that he has a balance of reviews on here, because I'm pretty certain that it's the unhappy patients that immediately think, "I'm gonna give him a YELP review!", while it never occurs to the happy, satisfied patients to post a YELP review, and they just continue on about their day, happy and satisfied. Before putting too much stock in these negative reviews, consider how the person being reviewed's livelihood could be affected and make up your own mind. AWFUL dental care. The front desk staff appears to be very unhappy. The waiting area is unclean. Those should have been my first clues. Wish I had listened to my gut and hightailed it out of there. The dental hygienist was very nice, though. After the terrible and unfinished work I received I went to a different dentist. Turns out the assistant at the new office said she worked at Injoo Han's office and said it was awful. Might want to look for someone else if you have any choice in the matter. read more

When it comes to kids dental work the assistants are great with the kids. However, the dentist who works here is horrible. His bed side manor is not optimal at all, in fact many times I've gone with my son, the dentist would raise his voice to him and would threaten to send me away if he wouldn't be calm. They are great for adults and accepting medi-cal insurance. I would just never recommend smaller children if they are scared to go. I also had my toddler come in with me who needed work done but wasn't being seen the day my older son was, and some how I was sent an "exam" bill saying that my toddler was seen when he was never brought in as a patient. So I assume he looked over at him, saw his teeth were bad, and took it upon himself to say he could charge me for an exam! I have called to dispute this and have been called a liar, and was accused of calling the dentist a liar. I asked them what a proper exam consists of and there was no answer. If you are needing dental work through medi-cal and can't afford to pay, we we all know it can be pricey, just make sure you know the break down of what you might be charged for! read more

**Stay away** Dr Han and his clinic have a record of treating their patients with complete disdain! Dr Han not only decided to stop halfway through a critical root canal procedure, refusing to finish it as originally agreed, but he also called the police on us! (more details below). No professional and caring dentist will ever leave you hanging like that, yet alone kick you out of his clinic! And we're not the only ones as you can see from the rest of the reviews. In fact, as we stepped in the day of the procedure, he was threatening to call the police on another patient. Here's what happened to us: My mother needed to get a root canal done when her crown fell out. Dr Han performed his initial consultation where he recommended a root canal with temporary crown. Few weeks later, after getting our insurance approval for that full procedure, we came in to our appointment and signed the consent forms for the root canal and the temporary crown as part of the scheduled procedure. The staff explained the types of temporary crowns that we should expect coming out of the procedure, so a clear mutual understanding about what we're about to do. However, after performing the root canal, Dr Han decided to stop the procedure leaving my mom with a hole in her front teeth, without a temporary crown. When we asked why, Dr Han first told us the insurance won't cover the temporary crown in the same visit - which is a complete lie, as we later confirmed with the insurance. When further confronted, Dr Han finally explained that he doesn't want to risk putting the crown for liability reasons, which left us totally dumbfounded: what kind of dentist or doctor will recommend a certain procedure, based on his own prior evaluation (which we paid for), charge the insurance for the procedure and then stop halfway through leaving you in an incomplete state!? This is not only business malpractice, this is dental malpractice! And to top it off, he proceeded with a racist comment suggesting us to finish the procedure "back in her country", referring to my mother. So finally, on our way out, we asked for a copy of the consent forms we signed as a record that the staff clearly had us scheduled for the full procedure. Instead of giving us our copies as legally required, he threatened to call the police on us! Finally he only agreed to give us the copy of the root canal, withholding the temporary crown form that we signed which was very questionable from him & his staff. As they refused to give us both consent forms, they then proceeded to call the police on us. The police came in through the back door (as if we were bandits) but quickly realized we were not causing any trouble, that we were not combative and totally within our rights. We finally got both consent forms as proof Dr Han and his staff were fully aware and scheduled for the full procedure. Leaving patients like this and kicking them out is completely unethical, yet alone negligent and illegal. My mother got a tooth infection immediately after, and her old crown no longer fits because Dr Han shaved so much off her tooth. Dr Han is not here to make your situation better, you're guaranteed to leave his office in a worse state. read more

I will never see him again, ever. I saw him grab items, that were far from sanitary and go right back to care on a patient.. never changing his gloves or washing his hands, and putting those hands in the patients mouth. That was what did it for me.. I gave him a chance after that, realizing how uncoordinated his office was (he had 3 patients, and 8 employees on staff but the place).. but he proceeded to act like a jerk, not like he cared so I left and wont look back. read more

Wow! I wish I would have read reviews prior to choosing Mr. Han (I refuse to refer to him as a doctor). He seems to have serious psychological issues and was triggered to anger when attempting to discuss clarity about a cavity - to the point where he slammed down my file at the reception deck and told me to have my work down elsewhere. Yikes! I feel sad for the staff working with him. They all seemed pleasant, the hygienist, Valerie, in particular. The visit was quite pleasant until having to meet with Han. I would share the whole story but suffice it to say that the other comprehensive reviews reflect my experience with Han - in particular, the disdain he seems to have for patients. :( read more

We went through hell and all so he could get more money from us by telling us that our insurance didn't cover 2 procedures when they were both covered . He charged us way more than he would have received from our insurance which he does accept. Terrible and sly and awfully rude. Shame on him. We were patients for years. read more

I am a fearful patient, but also am stuck because I have medi-cal/denti-cal. I made an appointment with this dentist after a year of searching for someone. He is an hour away, but decided to make the appointment anyway. I am in need of 3 fillings and 1 crown. Anyway, I decided to do my research prior to my appointment. After reading many unsettling reviews online (yelp and other sites) I decided I just could not take any chances. I have poor health as it is and my body cannot handle any mistakes. I called to cancel the appointment. A lady answered, she sounded nice [at first]. Then she asked, "May I ask the reason for your cancellation?" (I was hoping she wasn't going to ask, but she did. Her bad.) "Well, I have a poor health and I am in need of an excellent dentist because I cannot afford any additional problems. The reviews online are not looking too good." She replied, "You cannot base your opinion on what other people think. THAT'S JUST ONE OPINION!" I replied, "Actually, I can base my opinion on whatever I please. And, secondly, I said I said reviews. Plural." Again she stated, "You can't just go by what other people say." --- uh, what? Is that her best argument? Seriously? She's making my case by not being able to be articulate enough to win me back. I asked her, "Have you read the reviews?" She said she read some of them, but not all of them. I brought my daughter here for a emergency because had fallen at school and broke her front tooth in half. My poor child who is only 5yrs old was is extreme pain and was scared at the same time. And this man had the least amount of compassion I've ever seen for a hurting child. It broke my heart as I'm seeing my helpless child team pretty much tormented by this dentist that supposed to be helping her. All he did was yell at her and tell her to stop crying as he held her down trying to shove all this stuff in her mouth that only scared her more. And then have the audacity to turn around and yell at me and tell me to leave the room like I was going to leave my child with him. I told him no and I took my daughter and we left. And we went straight to the emergency room. Not only will I make it known of his poor bedside manner and his heartless Act of Dentistry for Children I will be reporting him to the Dental Board as well. I've been looking for a new dentist as I'm leaving Western Dental once my contract is up. So, I came across this guy again in Yelp whom I'd used in the past and thought I'd write a review I should have 5 years ago? Regardless, there is only one word for this "Dentist" and that word is rude. I told him before sitting in the chair that I have very bad spinal issues, so please don't be alarmed if I should move involuntarily while he worked on me. He assured me that, that would not be a problem. But, sure enough, I have a jolt of back pain and did my best to restrain myself which is hard to do at times. Well, this guy started shouting at me to hold still while he was working on me. Well, I let him have it (vocally) having already explained my situation. He backed down knowing that he blew it, but I was infuriated, and I have a very long fuse. They had me scheduled for more work to be done, but I never returned. Dr. Han needs to check is attitude with his clientele. Frankly, after all this time, I was surprised to see his listing. Good luck. read more

Brenda L could not have written it better. I had the same horrible treatment. Unfortunately I let him pull all my teeth. After I received my dentures I was in so much pain I could not possibly wear them. He said get use to it , see you in 6 months. He never put his hands/fingers in my mouth to see that they did not fit. in fact they were not even sitting on the gums. My room mate has since taking me to his dentist. Now I know what a proper exam is. I explained to both dentist what was wrong. The second dentist examined and it was obvious to him they were not on the gums and putting pressure on my nose and lower jaw. He took the time and fixed them so I can bear to wear them. I always wore a partial so I'm no novice. I will not go back to Injoo Han dds. All he ever did was argue with me , his staff and my room mate. My room mate walked out called his dentist. the gal who answered said where is she. He said and she said oh my. I use to work for him and #$%*&. So dr Injoo did not get the bite right eight er. We are left spending thousands to try and salvage what he has done. You know all I wanted was a lower partial. And now I wake up and realize, my teeth are forever gone. I have CMSP also. I warn you. He is as bad as everyone says. He probably has his staff make the few good reviews. Dont go there. I will be making a complaint with medical or dental board. read more

I have never seen a healthcare provider that was this rude, impatient and unprofessional. After driving 75 minutes to his office and waiting for an hour to be seen, Dr. Han looked in my mouth for about 20-30 seconds and stated that I needed a cleaning. Being pregnant I could not get X-rays so I brought my most recent ones with me. Dr. Han refused to look at them and every time tried to explain my history or my tooth pain to him he interrupted me and told me he would not treat me. After a few minutes of tense conversation where he rolled his eyes at every question I asked, it became clear that he did not understand the serious risks that tooth infections pose during pregnancy nor did he know anything about what medi-cal covers for pregnant women as opposed to other adults even though he is primarily a medi-cal provider. The final straw was when he stated that he was not willing to take the risk that he would not get reimbursed my medi-cal. In the end I drove over an hour to get no dental care, not even an exam, only to be insulted and leave his office in tears. It seems to me that he only has a practice because the patients he sees have no other choice under medi-cal. I personally would rather drive 100 miles further out of my way than to let this man anywhere near my mouth. read more

He almost killed me! On July 24th 2017 I had to be rushed to the hospital after Dr Han removed a tooth which was infected. It took a team of 6 emergency staff at Barton Hospital 2 hours to stabilize me. Dr Han had seen me a week before the extraction and failed to give me antibiotics which is standard procedure. By the next week my tooth was severely infected and extraction was nessesary. Dr Han pulled the tooth showed me how infected the root of that tooth was and told me to bite down on gauze and go home never attempting to remove any of the infection. He had spent about 5 minutes removing my tooth. I had a 90 minute drive home to Tahoe about 1 hour into the drive the infection went into my blood and I had Bio Septic poisoning. My driver/friend drove to emergency as I was almost in seizure/ cardiac arrest with compromised breathing and a dangerous heart rate. I was admitted to the hospital. read more

I saw Injoo Han DDS (elderly male) in June of this year. After I had the weirdest contraption ever conceived of for taking X-rays (but by a very competent, friendly and engaging young female assistant), Dentist Han showed me the X-rays and said I needed four root canals and had three cavities. I have had a number of root canals going back to the early 90's, so I know what it feels like when one is needed. I had no sensitivity at all in any of my teeth, from either cold or hot liquids. In fact, I had root canals done on three of the teeth that were all in a row years ago. He said they can get reinfected. True, but it would've had to of been done by a very incompetent dentist for that to occur, and it happens if they don't close off the root end completely. I actually had an excellent Endodontist who did the root canals. I ended up going back to my regular dentist, who lives much further from me. He said, after X-rays, that I didn't need any root canals, but I did have one cavity. The other two teeth that were diagnosed as having cavities might need a different procedure done to them, but much further down the road and they are not cavities. Dr. Han doesn't do root canals and he referred me out for that to be done, so there wasn't a financial incentive for him to tell me I needed four, but it is still unsettling. I had lost a crown off of a tooth in May, and he is the only dentist in the region who will do a plastic, pre-manufactured crown, which is why I went to him, as a temporary stop gap. But, he wouldn't do that crown until I had the root canal.That type of crown is actually just a temporary crown that a regular dentist would do, and then they put on the permanent one when it is completed at a lab. I was hoping that in July Governor Brown would restore $200 million to Denti-Cal that he took out several years ago, but he still refused to restore those funds. Right now, the state only covers the temporary crowns for the four front teeth, top and bottom, and it only pays for root canals there, too. This is a disgrace for the state, to say the least. I have let Denti-Cal know what took place during this visit, and I also recently emailed someone at Denti-Cal who sent me a letter referring me to him. I am following that up with a complaint to the Dental Board. I don't know what the problem is, but something is very off with this dentist. As an aside, if you can avoid Western Dental/Smile Care - the one affiliated with Western Dental only, as there are other offices that have Smile Care in their title but they are not with Western Dental - do so. I had a nightmare experience with them last decade and in May of 2012 the state cut them off from receiving any further payments from Denti-Cal because they were so deficient. The reason for them being restored to receiving Denti-Cal funds is a mystery to me. Also, you can go through Delta Dental (you don't have to go through AARP or Costco) by calling them directly or applying online. It costs $81 a year with an additional one-time only cost of $10 or $15 to join. There are a number of highly qualified dentists listed with them. You will have a share of cost, but it is much lower than not having any insurance. Finally, there is a dental school at the Univ. of San Francisco that does procedures at little to no cost, but you have to make numerous visits to get anything done. read more
