Unfortunately, the front desk did not do their due diligence, and I found out my insurance did not accept Missouri Flat Dental Group as being in the network for payment. Now the medical group keeps sending me a bill for the amount for $1,800. Of course, I would never have gone to them if my insurance wasn't going to pay. It is the job of the front desk to know who to accept or not to accept regarding the insurance they accept. Be extra careful they accept your insurance. I am a senior on a fixed income, and I feel duped by their mistake and lack of professionalism.

BUT, I'm glad I finally did. Not having been to a dentists in a few years thanks to a move and the pandemic... I was extremely pleased to find The Cold Springs Dental team. I had my first appointment today and from the friendly, knowledgeable and courteous staff at the front desk- to the actual dental team offering the 5 star care... it was a relief and a pleasure. The team at the front desk has been wonderful about reaching out and trying to get me in sooner than later. They have been flexible and on point with every action they have taken. The dental team was equally and more importantly knowledgeable - spoke to me in terms i could understand and reviewed my dental pictures, etc in detail. They were also great about providing options for teeth whitening when I inquired and I really feel like they cared about my needs. My husband had his first appointment and cleaning today as well and raved about the care he got once he was done. It's hard to find a dental team who really cares about you and shows it. One who works with you and really makes it about the customer and what is important. I am extremely happy with our choice to seek out care at Cold Springs Dental and would highly recommend making them your dental team if you have the chance to do so.

I went in for emergency care for a toothache in a molar when my regular dental office was often booked out and told me my insurance maxed out which I thought couldn't be correct as I didn't know dental insurance often had limits on what it will cover each year. Had to make multiple appointments and they were all close together. At Placerville Dental, the receptionist lady who handles billing told me that my insurance would fully cover it. A few months later, I received a surprise bill statement in the mail of nearly $1,000, apparently, I was lied to. I called asking why this happened. I was told it just took a while to verify with my insurance. Seems like a lame excuse. They said I had five cavities in my lower teeth. They numbed my entire lower jaw and did five fillings at once. Later, one of my premolars had a toothache. My regular dentist from Mather Field Dental recommended I get a root canal in that tooth and consult with an endodontist. The endodontist looked at my X-rays and said that the filling Placerville Dental placed in that tooth is right up against the nerve, irritating it. I got a root canal in the tooth that probably could have been avoided if the dentist at Placerville Dental did a better job. Placerville Dental did a cleaning and a non-surgical laser treatment in addition to a cleaning I got. As someone with health-related anxiety/OCD, this gave me the illusion that I was being given exceptional care. One of the times at Placerville Dental, when I expressed dental discomfort, the dentist dismissed me saying it was food on my teeth, which I did have as I didn't have time to brush my teeth properly beforehand. Yes, it's a good idea to clean your teeth right before dental appointments, but the dentist remarked that in such a way that it made me feel scolded. How rude. At one point, the dentist at Placerville Dental took X-rays and this time said the tooth with the toothache had irreversible pulpitis, but when I went to an emergency visit with my regular dentist, Dr. Tapang at Mather Field Dental, he took an X-ray and he also agreed that there was an infection in the tooth. He prescribed me a course of antibiotics and it made the toothache go away while Placerville Dental didn't do sh*t.

I finally committed to trying this office and have had such great experiences all three times that I have been there. The dentist, Matt, is friendly and doesn't push unnecessary procedures. His wife runs the practice with him, and you can see pictures of their family (and the hygienist's families) around the office. Natalie and Sarah have cleaned my teeth. They were both thorough and very sweet, and they gave helpful tips/info about how to improve my oral health and get into good habits with my one year old. I told the receptionist that no, to check the information again as I had only one tooth with a broken crown. When I called, Jay was initially very informative, answering all my questions regarding insurance, the types of fillings used, and how payments would be handled--an important factor for me since the cost of my treatment would use up my entire insurance allowance for the year. After our conversation, I felt reassured enough to move forward with scheduling an appointment. However, I was informed that the office requires a 25% deposit to schedule, with payment in full required on the day of the procedure. Since the total cost was around $2,000, I asked if they would be willing to offer a payment plan for the remaining balance after the deposit. Jay immediately said no, which I understood, and I politely explained that I would need to find an office that could accommodate a payment plan. At this point, Jay snickered and told me she felt like I had just wasted her time. Shocked by her response, I asked if she thought it was unreasonable for a patient to inquire about a surgical procedure and insurance coverage before committing. Instead of addressing my concern professionally, she raised her voice and told me it was, in fact, a waste of time--adding that there was already a note in my file stating I was "going somewhere else." The only reason I had requested my X-rays was to obtain an additional quote, which is a completely reasonable and responsible step for a patient. Jay continued to talk over me as I attempted to clarify, forcing me to confirm her name and let her know that her behavior was incredibly unprofessional. If this is the treatment a potential patient receives from the front desk, it raises serious concerns about the professionalism and patient care within the rest of the office. Is this type of behavior accepted or even fostered by the practice? It was a huge red flag and left me with zero confidence in trusting this office with my dental care. Patients deserve to be treated with respect, especially when making important healthcare decisions.
