Extremely Disappointed - Felt Neglected and Discriminated I don't usually leave reviews for a Jiu Jitsu establishment, but I feel compelled to share our experience with Infinity Jiu Jitsu. My son, who has been diagnosed with ASD, was scheduled for his second trial class. We showed up early and waited patiently--for over 35 minutes past our appt time. There was no front desk staff to check him in, and the coach told us to wait for the check in person and proceed to completely ignored us. He clearly started the 4 PM class we were scheduled the trial for. Shouldn't there be a list of students prior to starting the class for the coach to see? It felt like we were invisible just because we weren't paying members yet. This was supposed to be a welcoming environment, but instead, we were left feeling neglected, disappointed, and discriminated against. On top of that, the facility itself was cramped and located next to a foul-smelling dumpster--not the kind of place I'd want my child to spend time in. I don't know how this place had operated before with all previous year 5 star reviews, but as of today, they have clearly lost their touch and a potential enrollment. I'm so glad we didn't sign up. No child--especially one with special needs--should be made to feel this unseen. If you're looking for a place that respects and supports every student, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. read more

Great place for your kids to learn BJJ! My daughter loves it! She's 11. There is a wide range of kids that go here from 5-16 or so. They also offer adult classes here. The prices are very reasonable and if you pay for the whole year at once it's actually very cheap per class. Other places are more expensive. The coaches here make BJJ fun for the kids by playing fun games after the practices. I wish I could take the kids classes! read more

Been coming here for a little over a month now, and it's better than I expected. I was unsure how welcoming they would be to a newcomer with very little experience in mixed martial arts and one who was extremely out of shape. (Pushing 300 lbs) in the past month I dropped 19 lbs and am now able to chase my toddler around without getting so winded. I am 42years old, fluffy, dad body, out of shape, desk job. Really in horrible shape. It started with me just watching my daughter train for a month. I watched the way the coaches conducted themselves, the way they taught the classes. From day one I was completely impressed by their patience and skill at managing young students. I watched the diversity in age and discipline of the students taking classes at this gym. Incredible. BJJ was something I had wanted to start "someday". This gym with its incredible coaches made me feel zero hesitation when asked if I wanted to try it out. I jumped in. My body was beat up daily. Ok, back with an update. So, I was going 4-5 days a week for approx 6 weeks but my body was trashed, in pain always. I wimped out. BJJ has my utmost respect. I didn't want to quit I just want to give my body a chance to get in better shape at a slightly slower pace. I reduced BJJ to one day a week and started Muay Thai at two or three days a week. I am getting in shape and getting better at both disciplines. I am very close to adding another day of BJJ per week! 6 months in, I still am able to boast about this gym! They are all incredible. This is by far the best school in East County, I did my shopping around, and Dylan (the owner) exceeds expectations. First, it is experienced Black Belt instruction, they have showers and changing rooms, the academy is always clean and professional, and super welcoming. Let me start by saying that I shopped around before deciding to go with Dylan's school. The atmosphere is laid back, there are no high pressure sales, you can just go to train and learn - which is what we are all looking for in our BJJ studies anyways. I felt welcomed from day one. I enrolled myself and m 4 year old daughter. If you're looking to sign your kid(s) up - do it - he's amazing with the youth and has a way of connecting to them and transmitting the information - it is a true gift. The place is clean, family oriented, and a pleasure to train at. He has a changing room and showers on campus so you can clean up after class, which is a nice touch. Dylan also is a Black Belt - what does this mean? Well many schools I have seen have a purple belt or brown belt running the show. Judo is taught by the Tsukuba Dojo of San Diego and in my opinion, there is no other school that offers so much to their students at pretty much the same rate as the other schools in the area that offer ONLY Jiu Jitsu. My ten-year-old wanted to broaden his sports horizons, and I wanted to get him active and out of the house. Infinity BJJ has been AWESOME. Dylan is a great guy who genuinely cares about his students and has a great teaching method. He is firm but with VERY realistic expectations, and the kids are all very engaged and happy to be there. The dojo has a great atmosphere, a nice family environment and is very open and welcoming. Great location in a quiet but not out-of-the-way part of town and a very clean and friendly looking dojo. My little guy is quiet and sensitive, and Dylan and his team are doing a great job at bringing him out of his shell and making him part of the Infinity family. Great atmosphere for learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The people who train here are supportive, helpful, kind, friendly, and respectful. My whole family trains here-me, my wife, daughter, and son. We are having a very positive experience and everyone else who trains here appears to also. Highlights: So far, I've trained with a world no-gi champion who is cool as anything. No attitude-just encouragement. Same goes for everyone here. Plenty of very skilled people who could mess up a guy like me--but they don't. That says a lot about their character. My wife feels that she is getting great training in a safe, supportive environment and would encourage other women to train here too. Dylan sits the kids down and they discuss the "word of the week" (ex. respect) after training which ties jiu jitsu in with other things in life. We've left the kids overnight at the school with 20+ other kids for Movie Night/Slumber Party. Very safe, well managed, lots of fun for the kids. My children are gaining confidence and making new friends. Jiu Jitsu is challenging physically and mentally--the kids are learning about themselves and others in a very unique way. Plus, they are having a fun time. I've improved my health tremendously. My core strength gets better every day. My back used to hurt all the time, now at almost 50 years old, I am more flexible than when I was in my 20's, and the back pain is gone. I've got abs again and have lost over 20 lbs. Getting better at jiu jitsu is an incentive to eat better, to workout, and it is a set time that our family can be together and be active. when i began studying various martial arts years ago, my biggest problem was merely walking into a place as a beginner. too many fight/ martial arts gyms have a bunch of meat-bag asshole trainers/ fighters starring you down trying to intimidate you with that "what the fuck do you know about this?!" attitude. What a great school. Dillion is the man and one of the nicest guys you can meet. What you won't get here is a mcdojo type school. This school is a smaller one is terms of numbers and that has many benefits. You will get personal attention from an instructor that's very well qualified and is under the notorious Rodirgo Medieros who's produced many many champions of jiu jitsu. The whole vibe of this place is solid, as there is no shortage of camaraderie and smiles on peoples faces. My son used to train with 5 star. Looked into the other mma places in Santee & Lakeside. Unlike the other ones, Infinity BJJ offers a variety of classes for one price. My 13 year old son loves the variety-muay thai, bjj with gi, bjj with no gi. We did the 6 week trial for $100. That INCLUDES the gi (to keep). As a high school teacher, I pay attention to the instructors/teachers. They are fantastic!!! His "trial" time was during the preschool class and kudos to the instructors. They work fantastically with that age group. I was amazed at how they kept the class going, moving it along just fast enough to keep their attention while maintaining discipline and order. For my son's classes, they absolutely pay attention to details and help all kids. All of the students my son has encountered have also been very disciplined and helpful. They are all here to learn...and have fun. As of now, my son has no interest in competing and they are ok with that. Place is kept clean. There is a dressing room and a shower. I love the kick boxing classes here! Such a great workout, nice people and a great teacher! You will most definitely get a great workout and get individualized attention and tips! When my brother started randomly tackling me in the hallway to show me the new jiu jitsu moves he had learned on YouTube, I liked it. I've never really been much of a girly girl. But when he suggested we actually start taking classes, I was a little skeptical. I knew that inevitably the class would end up being a bunch of bigger and stronger men...and me. And I don't like to be yelled at. But it sounded like fun and I had been meaning to learn some self defense moves and jiu jitsu is suppose to be one of the most effective martial arts. So, I got on the internet and did some research. I had three criteria for picking a jiu jitsu school: it had to be close to my house, offer classes basically every night since my work schedule is so weird, and not be afraid of a girl. After speaking to several instructors the only one I was impressed by was Dylan at Infinity Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. And much to my amazement, after my phone call with Dylan I was actually excited to start jiu jitsu! And to make it even better, he agreed to let me come in and see a class before I committed just to make sure. On the phone Dylan had assured me that one of his top priorities was to keep egos out of his school and he has. I still cannot believe how welcome I have felt at Infinity Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and how much I look forward to going to each class. I love the atmosphere at Infinity because it is not about showing off. Each class rather feels like a group of friends getting together to teach each other, learn, and improve one another's lives.
