Us with professor Marty! Look at my daughter's smile :)

Adayama is more than a gym, it is a second home for my daughter and I. Professor Marty and Ellen are so welcoming from the second you walk through the door. It truly feels like a family! If you are nervous about starting jiu jitsu, don't be! All of the members in class are helpful, friendly, and are there to just be better humans. Yes they may submit you once in a while but at least they do it with a smile ;) The kids classes are amazing! Professor Marty ensures that all of the kids are safe and introduces anyone who is new or trying out the class to ensure that everyone has fun and stays safe. An added plus is that Professor Marty is on the mats at all times and engaged with them throughout the entire class, he leads by example! The kids at this gym are awesome too!!! They teach each other and are so respectful to one another. My daughter has grown in confidence and skill and actually BEGS to go to class now. If you are thinking about trying it out just stop by, there is no pressure to join and no contracts. Marty and Ellen are an amazing couple who want everyone to learn more about the beautiful art of Jiu-Jitsu while building a community on and off the mats.

It is remarkable watching my son grow in discipline, improve his listening and body control, exhibit respect for others, and be excited about seeing his friends 3x/week to learn more jiu jitsu! My son is home-schooled, and Silva Jiu Jitsu provides an environment that he can socialize with kids his same age and learn new skills in a cooperative manner, in the spirit of competition. I'm excited for his first invitational where he will be challenged to demonstrate what he's learned these past few months, especially losing and winning matches with grace and humility. I'm strongly considering signing up myself, having no MMA background whatsoever, thanks to the inspiration provided by Silva Jiu Jitsu!

The instructors lead with professionalism, patience, knowledge, and a clear commitment to the values that make martial arts so important- respect, discipline, and perseverance. What stands out most is the culture on the mats. The environment is structured, positive, and encouraging for the kids, while still maintaining high standard of training and overall SAFETY. Our girls enjoy coming here and are noticeably growing in both skills and confidence. We are very grateful to have found a place that not only focuses on techniques, but also on building character.

It's been great for all of us. My 8-year-old has really been enjoying the dojo and the classes have not only been great for teaching him self-defense, but he has also learned humility and benefitted from the structure and discipline. His behavior is already noticeably better. As a 40-year-old fat guy I'm not looking to win a world title or get involved in any kind of "Hard Core" battle training, but really enjoying the training with Professor Ricky. It's a great work out with a great group of people. The coaches are very knowledgeable and good at working with you at your level. Everybody is there to support each other to train and get better. It certainly can be very intimidating at first, but after you get a chance to meet everybody you soon realize that nobody is there to flex an ego or try and crush anybody. I recommend this place for the entire family. It's a lovely little community to become a party of.

I've been going to Switch a little over 2 months now. I'm a complete beginner, overweight, almost…read more40, and had absolutely no experience in any type of MMA, team sports, or group exercise, so if I can do it, you can too. Switch offers a wide variety of classes. They have a gym on one side with strength and conditioning classes, and MMA and boxing classes on the other, they sell gear, the bathrooms are clean, the music is great, plenty of parking, and I think they have a shower. The classes are consistent and run throughout the early morning into the evening, which makes it easy to find something that fits your schedule. The best part of all is the people, the coaches and the students. You really do run into every type of person there, and everyone is welcome. I genuinely feel that. You just have to show up with respect and a little dedication. I've had the pleasure of learning from Coach Marvin, Coach Andre, and Coach Rob, who owns the gym, he is definitely doing something right. They all have so much to offer. The 7am Muay Thai Coach, Coach Marvin has an incredible eye for detail and can explain or show technique in different ways depending on what clicks for you. He doesn't just explain how to do something, he explains why, which shows how deep his knowledge really is. He also has thoughtful things to say beyond technique and understands that everyone comes in for different reasons, which makes his perspective really valuable. Rob and Andre have also coached early morning Muay Thai, and they're both extremely talented and give you personal pointers. It's cool getting a mix of styles, but what stands out is that they all build off each other's teaching and give each other credit. There's a lot of respect there. All 3 make it fun and motivating. It's a perfect balance of work, discipline, and even humor. You walk out feeling accomplished and better than when you walked in. The environment stays positive. I haven't met one rude person. Everyone has been cool, understanding that I'm new, and willing to offer support or advice. Watching the more experienced students drill together gives you something to work toward. At first there may be disomfort like youre slowing people down but everyone starts somewhere. Many great things in life take the most effort. They offer free trials, what do you have to lose?

From the day I started, every coach was patient and attentive, even in the larger classes. They taught me fundamentals very patiently and offered encouragement every step of the way. As I improved, they gave me more advanced, tailored guidance. It's clear that they encourage kindness towards others, hard work, AND fun. Coach Rob often has a large class with varying skill levels, yet he makes time to help everyone individually. In just one hour classes, he still manages to give every person a bit of personal attention. He even took extra time after a couple of classes to give me pointed, informed direction that made a huge impact on my progress. Coach Toby is the best, and I feel lucky to get to learn from him! He's super patient, pays great attention to technique, and pushes me in a way that's kind and constructive. Coach Panda is a smart fighter, sees exactly where I need to make improvements, and is super encouraging. Coach Marvin is also super helpful, hardworking, and patient. The entire staff at the gym has positive vibes, and all the coaches push you without putting you down. Every class I take (which is every weekday!) I feel like I gained something, and I get excited about the improvements I'm making. I've never been this excited to go to the gym every day, and it doesn't hurt that everyone else who goes there is kind and supportive, too! Will be going for as long as I can.
