I've been going to Switch a little over 2 months now. I'm a complete beginner, overweight, almost 40, and had absolutely no experience in any type of MMA, team sports, or group exercise, so if I can do it, you can too. Switch offers a wide variety of classes. They have a gym on one side with strength and conditioning classes, and MMA and boxing classes on the other, they sell gear, the bathrooms are clean, the music is great, plenty of parking, and I think they have a shower. The classes are consistent and run throughout the early morning into the evening, which makes it easy to find something that fits your schedule. The best part of all is the people, the coaches and the students. You really do run into every type of person there, and everyone is welcome. I genuinely feel that. You just have to show up with respect and a little dedication. I've had the pleasure of learning from Coach Marvin, Coach Andre, and Coach Rob, who owns the gym, he is definitely doing something right. They all have so much to offer. The 7am Muay Thai Coach, Coach Marvin has an incredible eye for detail and can explain or show technique in different ways depending on what clicks for you. He doesn't just explain how to do something, he explains why, which shows how deep his knowledge really is. He also has thoughtful things to say beyond technique and understands that everyone comes in for different reasons, which makes his perspective really valuable. Rob and Andre have also coached early morning Muay Thai, and they're both extremely talented and give you personal pointers. It's cool getting a mix of styles, but what stands out is that they all build off each other's teaching and give each other credit. There's a lot of respect there. All 3 make it fun and motivating. It's a perfect balance of work, discipline, and even humor. You walk out feeling accomplished and better than when you walked in. The environment stays positive. I haven't met one rude person. Everyone has been cool, understanding that I'm new, and willing to offer support or advice. Watching the more experienced students drill together gives you something to work toward. I've been coming to Switch for 8 months, and I knew after the first class that this was the place for me. From the day I started, every coach was patient and attentive, even in the larger classes. They taught me fundamentals very patiently and offered encouragement every step of the way. As I improved, they gave me more advanced, tailored guidance. It's clear that they encourage kindness towards others, hard work, AND fun. Coach Rob often has a large class with varying skill levels, yet he makes time to help everyone individually. In just one hour classes, he still manages to give every person a bit of personal attention. He even took extra time after a couple of classes to give me pointed, informed direction that made a huge impact on my progress. Coach Toby is the best, and I feel lucky to get to learn from him! He's super patient, pays great attention to technique, and pushes me in a way that's kind and constructive. Coach Panda is a smart fighter, sees exactly where I need to make improvements, and is super encouraging. Coach Marvin is also super helpful, hardworking, and patient. The entire staff at the gym has positive vibes, and all the coaches push you without putting you down. Every class I take (which is every weekday!) I feel like I gained something, and I get excited about the improvements I'm making. I'm new to switch, and after training exclusively in boxing for the past 4 years, I'm super stoked to find a gym where I can continue my boxing as well as train Muay Thai, strength and conditioning and jiujitsu. The coaches I've worked with are all high level, professional athletes and fighters. They are professional, patient and rigorous in their areas of expertise. Coach Andre + Coach KP are great for strength and conditioning. Coach Panda is a really patient and effective boxing coach and coach Toby is being so understanding as I struggle to learn Muay Thai kicks. On top of all this, Christine the front desk manager is so kind. She is always available to help get you what you need and greets everyone with a welcome smile. The gym is quite large and has separate areas for all the different classes. The gym is sanitized daily, and they have a weight room, treadmill + bikes so you can train on your own too. I trained at Switch Fitness for several months, and unfortunately my experience was very negative. About Toby (coach): Toby knows his stuff and was a great fighter, but as a coach he often yelled at me, put me down, and told me I "suck." I believe he thought being mean would push me harder, but instead it took a toll on my confidence and mental health. About Rob (owner/manager): Rob was nice the first months, But once I paid the $1200 yearly membership, everything changed. He became sarcastic, dismissive, and treated me with constant attitude, like they didn't even want me there. It felt like they "locked me in" and then started treating me poorly. The bigger issue: I only used about 3 months of the membership before speaking up about how I was being treated. Instead of taking responsibility, they turned it around on me saying I was "pushy" about training and competing and they even turned it weird saying that I "force hugs" when the coach himself would say "come here" and offer me a hug which I don't care, I think it's normal. But after that conversation, I was told Toby "won't coach me anymore." That means I can't access the service I paid for: Grappling + Striking. The right thing would be for Switch Fitness to pay me back my partial refund for the unused months. Instead, I'm left with nothing. As a mom of 3, $1200 was a huge investment, and being taken advantage of like this is unfair and unprofessional. Contrast with other gyms: Since leaving, I've joined TEAMS and Steel Fitness. Both are farther from my home, but the difference is night and day. I feel welcome, supported, and respected. I've also met other former Switch members at Steel (4 other people) with similar stories of being heavily mistreated, but I was the unlucky one who paid upfront for a year. Final warning: Please think twice before committing to a yearly membership here. My experience is that once you're locked in, the treatment changes. Protect yourself and your mental health. Don't make the mistake I did. I still hope they'll do the right thing and pay me and my family back. read more

NOTE: This review is solely on a visit-we are not members yet... My son and I been looking for a gym near the house. He's been mostly interested in Muay Thai. This gym has everything we were looking for. Experienced instructors, clean venue, family oriented... The most important thing to us is the schedule. It was difficult finding a class with the same timetable on a daily basis. Most gyms have weird scheduling like Monday BJJ at 7:30am while Tuesday BJJ is at 4pm and Wednesday at noon? I'm sure they have their reasons but the solid schedule at Switch Fitness just works. They host Muay Thai 3 times a day so catching a class is easy. Anyways...with only a visit, we decided this will be our gym. Looking forward to becoming part of the team/family. Seriously the best gym I've ever been too. These guys really know their craft. I've been enjoying the jui-jitsu and muay thai classes. It's a bit expensive but I have 100% gotten my moneys worth in confidence and appearance, not to mention that they will teach you the skills to be able to defend yourself in real fight situations. Excellent gym, very clean (looks to be cleaned daily) equipment nice and neat, big open spaces (very easy to move around) very friendly and forthcoming staff who have a terrific conduct with both adults and children. I needed this place. I had been watching my kids on the mat from afar for years, but not participating myself. Having loved my previous experiences, I was looking for a place where I could participate with my family and train together. I found this place on Yelp and went to check it out yesterday (8/6/21). I absolutely loved this place! The front desk (Lisa) was very friendly, knowledgeable, motivating and comforting. Unfortunately, I'm not joining the club for 2 reasons: I'm allergic to clorox and dogs/cats. Clorox pro...the gym is very sanitized and very clean...obviously! Clorox con...it's toxic to be inhaling it...mainly for me being asthmatic. They have the cutest dog (gym mascot I was told) but sadly to say I'm allergic and can't be inside a closed area with pets. If you're ok with either one of these issues (of mine) I highly recommend this gym! I peeked at the trainers and a bit of a class and it looks fun and challenging. Giving them a 5-star review is the least I could do because LISA took her sweet time in explaining everything about the classes, the trainers and fees. She was extraordinary! There aren't enough positive things to say about Switch Fitness. Super clean gym. Very family-orientated. Friendly vibe that welcomes any fitness level. Overall, an A+ in my book. They offer Muay Thai, Boxing, Jiu Jitsu (adult and kids), and Strength and Conditioning. All programs offer a non-threatening, push yourself, fun environment where you can meet your goals, and meet cool people. Have your kids train while you train, and you'll both go home tired.
