What makes this gym special is the combination of personalized coaching and the community. The…read morecoaches are present, attentive, and truly invested in your improvement -- they'll take time to correct small details, answer questions, and help you progress at a pace that makes sense for your goals. On top of that, the gym culture is incredibly accepting. New people are welcomed, nobody has an ego, and it feels like a team. As a woman in a male-dominated sport, I really appreciate how respectful and comfortable the environment is. I always feel safe, supported, and encouraged to push myself :)

A truly hidden gem for those that have never been around the training gym ringer before. Also a…read moregreat place for kids, I don't have any but it's cool to see a space with proper classes like when I was growing up with a balance of the art and martial aspect of both for kids to understand early. TLDR: I've trained for about 10 years in my pre-20s era and have been training an additional 5 in my near 40 era. I am a refugee of a place that closed in Kearney Mesa and I am super happy to have found a new home at Rebellion! You can train the well known Muay Thai+BJJ BUT ALSO GET THE ILLUSTRIOUS JUDO AS WELL! ALL IN ONE ROOF! Coaches: Awesome and helpful for everyone of all skill levels Facility: Perfect balance of equipment and space to do stuff Community: Welcoming, friendly, respectful but also they do not bow to others unnecessarily - as a proper martial arts place will instill the same understanding of mutual respect between people, the give and take and is represented by the staff and coaches. Hard thing to find these days in the world. Intensity: Just right, you don't have to fear of physically overtraining here because you took 1 extra class during the week. You get a good sweat going, learn solid techniques and are ready to come back the next day feeling better and ready to learn more! Lastly - Fight Gym or Martial Arts place?: A balance of both, you'll learn technique at the intensity level you are comfortable at AND you won't be pushed to your physical limits every class resulting in overtraining. This is a place to come to and come often so you can get better, do you want to compete? Let the coaches know! Do you want to just learn? Let the coaches know! The journey is in your hands and everyone, literally everyone is willing to help. Finally a place without the crazy egos or "over friendly sales" aspect I've been through a ringer looking for places to train my love for Judo and Muay Thai and this place has it all!

Ever wondered what happens when you combine world-class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction with the…read morewarm fuzzies of a family reunion? Welcome to Soca BJJ, where my four kids have been learning to tie themselves into human pretzels (professionally, of course) for the past three years. Let me tell you about Bruno and Lika, the dynamic duo running this show. They're like the cool aunt and uncle, who somehow manage to get kids to eat their vegetables AND enjoy it - except instead of broccoli, it's arm bars and sweeps. Now, if you're expecting one of those intense, trophy-obsessed dojos where kids practice their mean mugs in the mirror - wrong address! Soca BJJ is more interested in character development than creating mini UFC champions (though they'll throw down if you decide to compete). The real magic happens on the mats, where kids learn life's greatest hits: like how being the smallest in class doesn't mean you can't make the biggest guy tap out (eventually... maybe... with lots of practice). My kids have mastered the art of being the newbie, then the pro, then back to newbie again in a higher class - it's like a continuous cycle of humility that somehow doesn't crush their spirits. Imagine that! The coaches teach with what I call the "Mary Poppins approach" - firm but kind, minus the spontaneous musical numbers. They've somehow convinced my kids that getting twisted into a human knot is not only acceptable but actually fun. And the best part? When you lose (which everyone does), you're taught to do it with such good sportsmanship that you might actually enjoy it. Well, maybe "enjoy" is a strong word... Three years in, and my kids have learned more than just how to escape an arm bar- they've learned that life, like BJJ, is about the journey, not just the destination. Though let's be honest, the destination of not getting stuck in a arm bar is pretty important too. If you're looking for a BJJ school where your kids will learn valuable life lessons while occasionally resembling a human pretzel, Soca BJJ is your jam. Bruno and Lika have created something special here, a place where every student matters. And hey, worst case scenario? Your kid learns self-defense AND humility. Best case scenario? You find yourself a second family that just happens to know several ways to submit you (but won't, because they're nice like that).

Not only do they train kids & adults; but the training goes beyond just physical skills. They instill respect and discipline on and off of the mat. The team and members of this community treat each other like family. All of the kids and parents have become regulars and acquainted with each other during classes. It's very comforting to see. The facilities are clean and if you're looking for a winning competition team... this is your place to be. Professor Bruno and his wife Lika are amazing. Professor Rafael and Angel are very loved by the kids too. So happy to support them!
