Is this place even open? I called and got a voicemail telling me to text, but I never received a reply. I also sent an email and got no response. I even went there in person during the posted business hours, and although it showed that a class was supposed to be going on, the place was completely closed. Very frustrating and disappointing! I have call Histories, text and email Sent With no reply! read more

If I could give CKO Miramar 10 stars I would. I originally joined CKO Miramar back in 2014. Yes!! 9 years ago!! Since then, I've been a member of 2 other locations but returned to my OG location (Miramar) in January. I did take a break during the pandemic and I, like many others, gained some weight. I'm not lying when I say this gym literally saved my life. I will forever love and be thankful for finding CKO. The environment and vibe is like no other gym. The workouts are amazing, never the same, and ALWAYS fun!! You are guaranteed to walk out drenched in sweat and feeling like a million bucks! What can I say about the trainers? They are all amazing and guaranteed to kick your butt. The gym is spacious and clean. They even have showers for those needing one to go to work after. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. Come out and check out what all the hype is about for yourself! Guarantee you will not regret it! I am 42 years old and in the best shape I've ever been thanks to CKO Miramar. If you are looking for the best gym in San Diego, you need to check out CKO Miramar! I've been a member of CKO for about 8 years (Maybe longer. I've lost track). I've tried other gyms before and nothing compares to CKO. Their fees are very reasonable compared to other gyms. You have access to unlimited kickboxing classes. If you want to upgrade your membership, you can also do weight training. The gym is very clean and they have showers for those that want to work out early and then head off to work after a quick shower. Plus you get to work out with 4 of the most amazing instructors. Brendon, Freddy, Brandon, and Francis will kick your butt (In a good way). Cheryl, one of the owners, also teaches on occasion and she will kick your butt too. I burn between 500 and 700 calories per class! My husband burns over 1000 calories during the same class. So not fair, but that's ok. The atmosphere of the gym is ver friendly and supportive. CKO Miramar has the best members. They will give you a high five or a shout out to encourage you to keep going. Come check out the gym and sign up for a free introductory class and get 2024 started on the right foot. TIPS: Leave an empty punching bag between members if the class is not full and wipe down your bag and mat after you workout. This is much appreciated by everyone. read more

CKO Kickboxing - Trainers Near Me - San Diego, California

CKO is a kickboxing gym in Miramar and it's fantastic. I have been a member for around 3 months, and each workout leaves me feeling accomplished and drenched in sweat. The instructors are friendly and each brings their unique style, so I'd suggest trying them all. Initially, the class might seem intimidating with the number of people, but it's ultimately about you vs. the bag. I highly recommend giving it a shot. I started with a Groupon for 6 classes which was a great deal and it came with a set of gloves. After the Groupon, I ended up becoming a member! read more

I have been a member for 1 1/2 years now and am still 100% addicted! I go nearly every day! It's the best workout I've ever done and the only one I have remained committed to. It's literally life-changing! I have shed lbs & inches, am way stronger and my mobility and flexibility have immensely improved. The owners and staff are amazing beyond and make you feel part of a family. I cannot rave enough about the instructors. I can't even say I have a favorite because they all bring their own style and each workout is different, fun, and always a challenge! read more

I have been going to CKO for around a year now, and I love it! The classes are really fun, and each instructor puts their own twist so it doesn't get repetitive. Each class is a mix of strength and bag work. The classes are not easy, but you can always modify as needed to ensure you have a good experience. Another great thing about this gym is the people. Not only are the instructors friendly and motivating, but the people who go to the gym are all very nice and supportive. If you're interested, there are sometimes deals on Groupon. Or you can try your first class for free to see if it's something you would enjoy! I highly recommend checking it out! read more

ENDORPHIN RUSH BABY !! What else hasn't been said about CKO Kickboxing ? Not that they need another 5 star review, but they sure deserve the recognition ! Parking is plentiful and easily spotted off Miramar Road. The facility is spacious, well-maintained, and fully equipped. They also have a childcare room if you have kids. Classes are available throughout the day (at convenient times) and hardly crowded during the weekdays. I saw a Groupon deal for 3 classes with free boxing gloves and decided to give this new work-out a try. I was initially intimated, but right from the very start, owner, Nancy reassured me that it was a non-judgmental and supportive environment and she was absolutely right. I really felt welcomed from the initial interaction. She is exactly what all the other reviewers said: kind, passionate, and professional. She has a sweet and gentle soul. She also looks AMAZING ! OMG ! I aspire to look as fit as her at that age ! Inspiring ! She is a wonderful business owner and treats everyone with respect. She even goes beyond that and communicates with you via text to welcome you and see how you are doing and if you have any questions/concerns. She really does care about her clients. I love group workouts, because I get to feed off of everyone's energy. Workouts vary based on instructor so it never gets old and you can change it up. You can easily modify the moves and go at your own pace. I also love that I can focus on all muscle groups, which is a plus for a full-body workout ! Most importantly, CKO is so FUN !!! That's my number one rule ! I can see why members are hooked ! I was only able to commit to one day a week after work so I got the opportunity to train with an amazing instructor, Megan ! All the instructors are great, but Megan is my favs ! If you want a good cardio kick-butt workout that physically and mentally challenges you, then she is the WOMAN for you ! I literally transform into beast-mode when I'm in her class. I push myself the whole hour and feel so accomplished and amazing after ! She motivates you throughout the workout and encourages you to perform better and beyond your limits ! Those are qualities I look for in a good instructor. If you're looking for a stress-reliever, then kickboxing is the perfect fit for you. It's honestly addicting that I want a punching bag in my office. LOL. No matter what your fitness level is or age, this is the BEST workout in my opinion ! Plus, Nancy and the staff treat you like family here so you look forward to coming each time. If you are on the fence, don't hesitant any longer. Just give it a shot. First class is FREE so you have nothing to lose, but everything to gain. read more

ENDORPHINS RELEASE "jab, jab, uppercut, hook, roundhouse" I sound like I'm in a video game like Street Fighter. It's alot more challenging then you'd think but overall good arm workout. It's a feel good session every time I come to CKO. Great outlet to release stress, tension, and negative energy through a good 1hr workout beating the sh*t out of a punching bag and doing circuit exercises. There are different instructors with different workout styles but all equally capable of making you release endorphins and teach you how to "kick" "box". I can run 13.1 miles with not much sweat but after an hour at CKO I am sweaty and gross!!! I bought the class package where they give you free gloves. The gloves are decent - comfortable and padded. I have my own open finger gloves in the event I don't want to use the default ones. They have an app to set up your schedule and they have classes being offered hourly in the mornings and afternoons everyday making it very convenient around your schedule. Classes aren't crowded but more attend on weekends than I've seen on weekdays. Win-win situation. Adding CKO to my workout routine. read more

I LOVE CKO Miramar! I first found this gym on Groupon a few years ago and haven't looked back since. It has been one of the best gyms I've found since moving to SD. The community and team here are unmatched. I definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to get a good sweat in, no matter your fitness level. read more

Such an awesome place! I recently joined this past week after months of my sister trying to get me to attend a class. I gotta say - I have been missing out. The classes are paced really well, the staff is friendly and kind. I don't have experience with kickboxing or working out with type of cardio. I definitely know I need to improve on my endurance. I feel comfortable here and I have no regrets about becoming a member. If you're interested in learning kickboxing, having a good time while working out, and being around nice people - this is the place for you. Other boxing/kickboxing gyms can be intimidating but this place is comfortable. I've only been to a few classes so I can't say how every class is with every instructor, however, I look forward to working out now which is not something that I felt before. read more

Best gym ever!!! Workouts are tough but alot of fun. I look forward to the classes every week. Everyone is so friendly and all the coaches are wonderful. Give it a try you wont regret it. read more

I tried out CKO with a Groupon -- received 7 classes instead of 6 since I opted out of the gloves that came with it. Quite the friendly bunch of people you will ever come across. They don't enforce wraps under your gloves here probably because the boxing bags are hung low enough so that they sit on the ground slightly and don't swing around. Classes were pretty much structured the same: 5 to 10 minute warmup, followed by boxing combos on the bag, some running around mixed with bag hitting, and ending with some functional work at the TRX and weights section of the studio. All instructors pretty much followed this formula and added in their own creative combos (which they shout out for you to follow, 'jab-jab-cross-hook-hook') and colorful music selection. Monee focused more on speed and agility, and not so much form. Her favorite phrase was 'attack that bag' haha. Mike made sure you spent some more time at the bags and called out fairly simple and basic combos. Jeff I thought was the most unique and offered the most worthwhile class. His class structure focused on gradually building more challenging combos at the bags. He was especially watchful of everyone, coming around to offer corrections. He even came around with punching mitts for everyone to get in a series of one-on-one combos. I didn't get sore after the classes, but I was surprised by how many calories I burned after each! You really will be constantly moving throughout. Great for improving your technique in a relaxed setting or just letting off some steam with a good punch and kick session. read more

BEASTMODE! I have not trained outside my own gym at my apartment complex and on base for a very long time! Enter CKO Kickboxing! My wife has had an absolute blast coming here, so she invited me to come out with her. I was super pumped up, but not really sure what I gotten myself into! I got the down and dirty at the front counter right before the class started up. I did the 3 classes for $19.99 which came with free gloves. Gloves are decent, but I see myself buying a pair for long term. Monee was our instructor and she was super friendly to help me get started! She made went through the basics with me and realized I had some "prior" experience doing taekwondo when I was in high school! She said I would pick it back up quick, and she was right! I promised myself I would start slow, but by the end of the class, I was ripping it up! It felt so good to punch and kick a bag! I haven't sweated as much as I have at CKO in a very long time, even when I thought I was pushing myself hard. What I love about CKO is that it is truly an all levels experience. You can go as slow or as hard as you want. If you want progression, both Monee and Jeff show examples of easier or harder ways to do the circuits/rounds. The workout itself isn't what I call complicated, but I have a lot of experience with fitness and group fitness through the military. The thing about the three classes I've been to so far is that each class has been different each time. In fact, my last class was the hardest one! You really get to let loose when you want to and also dial it back a bit when you need to. I also love the team building when we get to work with each other. It's not a competition, it's inspiring. To see my wife give it her all makes me want to push even harder! Nancy and Cheryl both reached out to me via text and sent a card to make sure I had the best experience possible. CKO Kickboxing has hit all the marks for me! I can't wait to have a long term membership in the near future!!! (I'm shopping gloves now actually, during the writing of this review!!!!) Kick some ass CKO Kickboxing! I will see you soon (tomorrow for Jeff's class)! read more

I like to say i work out a lot-- sometimes i forget to take a day off. I tried kickboxing a while ago at CKO and took Monee's class. That day, i fell in love with a new fitness hobby. I signed up right away and have been going since. Every fitness instructor is different and they have their own style.. yet, you still get your butt kicked every time. Nancy, the owner of CKO is the sweetest ever. I even got a happy birthday text and welcome emails. You can tell that they definitely care about their clients and treat them like family. They do have a childcare area in case you have kids. The class times range from 6 am - 7 pm, so you literally can't make an excuse on why you can't go. read more

Will be a year next month since I joined CKO kickboxing at Miramar. It has become part of my routine, I start my day at CKO and I sweat to this day after each workout. Best place to go I take my kids there. And they love it. They are really good, but very clean. Place a recommend everybody.

Absolutely enjoyed CKO Boxing! I've never done a kickboxing class before and always wanted to do so- so I found CKO boxing because it was the closest dedicated kickboxing class near Mira Mesa. Checked out their website and saw that they offer a free trial class, so why the heck not? New year, new experience! The instructor I had was Cheryl (and apparently the co-owner) and she was so welcoming! She didn't make me feel intimidated because she was just so nice and approachable. She took the time to show me the moves and explained it so easy! The class was great! We did cardio, lots of abs (mine are going to feel it tomorrow), and the fun part.. the punching and kicking! You can go your own pace, but being with errrrbody really motivates you to push more! Great workout to blow off some steam and to get a fun workout! read more

If running on the treadmill makes you feel like a hamster or working out alone is kinda boring then this is the place for you! At least it is for me :) All you need to do is show up. The trainers will do the rest! And all of the trainers are superstars! A class with each trainer is so different that you feel like you're doing a different workout and that really helps from the workout ever getting banal. You are doing cardio, HIIT, strength and balance training and so many others apart from the kickboxing on the bags! Also since the format is go-at-your own pace or do as much as you can, people with almost any fitness level can find this fun. Also, the owners Nancy and Cheryl are absolutely awesome and make sure that you feel comfortable and welcome here. I mean who doesn't love going somewhere - Where everybody knows your name And they're always glad you came :) read more

CKO Kickboxing - Trainers Near Me - San Diego, California

I love kickboxing!! This is the place to be! It's hard to believe something so fun burns this many calories! Also! What makes this place is Nancy- the owner. She is SUCH a sweetheart! I came as a recommendation from my two friends and upon arriving, I had gotten an email from them filling me in on what to do, they sized me on gloves- she greeted me as I entered....and she even found an extra hair tie since I did not bring one (or better yet lost one). Seriously. I took this class- which was free as a first timer by the way and only had to buy gloves (which was about $21) and I really enjoyed it. Funny thing too because I'm not even an aggressive person- I generally do yoga and cycle so like the opposite. But I gave it a shot and fell in love! Monet, was our instructor (I do hope I'm spelling that right) and she was also sweet and energetic. She showed me the punches into class and was so motivating! I left there with all my stress on the bag, full of adrenaline and massive energy and better more confident and sassy than ever haha! You have to try it. You really have nothing to lose. I just wish they would be a bit closer but that's ok! This gym is "it". It isn't just the workout but the people that make an establishment and this is the right one! read more

Been going to this gym for quite some time now. The classes are a perfect mix of kickboxing moves and a cardio workout. One thing I really like is that you can get as good of a workout as you want, it all depends on how hard you are willing to push yourself. Each instructor is unique, motivating, and want to see you push yourself. Each instructor have different ways of teaching so it feels like you get a different workout each class. Good-sized facility and it's kept pretty clean. If you're on the fence about trying class, this is your sign to just go for it - you won't regret it! read more

I joined CKO Miramar in February 2023. Soon after, my son started taking private lessons with Brendon. Each coach is different. Each workout is different. First class here thanks to the groupon deal! Totally got my butt kicked (in a good way!) the time passed by so quickly and you're constantly doing different workouts so it doesn't seem repetitive. The instructors are super friendly and make you feel comfortable going at your own pace. You do need your own gloves and they do sell them here cheapest starting at $25 (non fingerless) up to $55 for the fingerless gloves (washable!) Parking is plenty and so are the kickboxing bags! Things to note are they don't really have a locker room (just a bathroom) and no water fountain (sink water from bathroom available of course) so bring lots and lots of water (they do sell it there too). Can't wait to see my progress here!! :) read more

I am so glad Groupon introduced me to CKO! Not only did I get a great deal to try out a couple of their classes (with your own boxing gloves, by the way!), but it is so close to work that I can literally release some stress right after a long day! I've had such an amazing experience from the first time I stepped into CKO's doors! I am personally huge on customer service having worked in the industry myself, so I truly appreciate businesses who create a fun and welcoming environment and who treat their customers like they would their own family members. The owner, Nancy, has a played a huge part in my decision to sign on for a membership and join the CKO family! She's invested in her members, and even sends follow-up texts when you first start, to answer any questions you may have. I love that personalized touch! I've looked into other boxing facilities, but all the pros I talked about above and so much more, have ultimately allowed me to make a decision I know I won't regret! I wish I could leave 100+ stars! This unique gym, the fantastic staff, the variety of classes, plus the specialized group training, has totally transformed me -- not only physically, but mentally. I joined this gym back in July when the CKO in my area had closed due to the pandemic and had no plans of reopening. I had gained 10 lbs on top of the 15 my doctor had advised me to lose. So far, I have been lost 14 (11+ more to go) and I couldn't have done it without the challenging classes, the guidance and support from the owners, Nancy & Cheryl! I have also made friends here and I always feel welcome! The gym is very nice and clean and everyone pitches in to make sure that the equipment is properly sanitized. I give this place 10 stars out of five!!! Nancy and Cheryl are the coolest owners of any type of business I've ever met!!! They care about their members and care about each individual's goals!! All the trainers are attentive and super helpful. You will work hard, you will feel pain, and you might even cry a little, but they will be right there by your side encouraging you to keep pushing to achieve your goals. And all the other members here also encourage each other and it just has a family feel to the place. I am unfortunately moving away to Texas and I will miss this place immensely.
