There are good coaches in this world, and then there are GREAT coaches! Coach Ronnie Labella is one of those Great coaches, which is why I travel over 20 miles to have my 7 year old daughter learn Jiu-Jitsu from him. If you were to take your favorite childhood teacher, a professional Jiu-Jitsu athlete, an Olympic Coach that majored in child developmental psychology (like Michael Phelp's Coach) and toss them into a blender, you would create Coach Ronnie Labella! My daughter LOVES learning from coach Ronnie and I'm willing to bet that your child will too! I taught competitive swimming for over 10 years to children and I would pay over $400 every year to attend conferences, in order to learn from coaches that competed at the State, National and Olympic level. Coach Ronnie has many of the attributes those accomplished coaches have, e.g. vast knowledge, effective communication, passion, great listening skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to inspire and let his athletes know that he cares about how they feel on and off the Jiu-Jitsu mat. So if you want your child to learn from a coach that focuses on increasing self confidence, genuinely listens and makes children feel valued, effectively communicates and helps young athletes master proper Jiu-Jitsu technique, then you would put your child in coach Ronnie's class today! P.S. Both my daughter and I are very fortunate and grateful for having found coach Ronnie. The only thing more powerful than his Jiu-Jitsu submissions, is his level of kindness and ability to be an incredible and positive role model to this world! read more

I know it's a cliche but when you join you join the 10th Planet family. Every trainer, energy class is there to make you better because better members make a better team. If you're either training to get in shape, self defense, learn a new skill, or dabble in competing you'll find what you need. Best thing is there are other locations with other training times. I've found that some MMA or Martial Arts schools offer limited class times. Or some bjj schools restrict students to 2 classes a week or only offer 3 class times a day with no Friday evenings or weekends. Come in. Try it out. They attract people that want to train here. read more

I absolutely love this place! What can I say.. what started as our daughter doing boxing and jiujitsu turned into both her father and I also joining. The coaches are BY FAR some of the best you will ever see in San Diego and the surrounding areas. Not only are you joining a gym and being trained by champions, but everyone here becomes a real family. If Jiujitsu, Boxing, MMA, Muay Thai, strength & conditioning, or even yoga.. is something you're passionate about.. then you've found your second home. read more

Hello, On February 21 my 4 year old son was scheduled to do a class so we paid $20 to try it. He did not wanted to do the class so the person in charge of the class said that I will get a refund. That never happened and I got stuck with the fee on my credit card. I contacted the gym on Spring Valley and the manager there said that the is no refund. The free class that is advertised is not really free read more

This is specifically geared towards Tiger Smalls Boxing. I can't recommend coming here enough. I had been looking at various gyms around San Diego and 10th Planet Spring Valley kept popping up on my radar. I drove over and met Tiger and within 5 minutes of meeting him realized he was someone I wanted to train with. I've been going 3-4 times a week for the past few months and it's entirely down to the fact that Tiger's classes are just flat out some of the most fun I've ever had exercising. Everyone at the gym from the staff to the pro fighters to the people that are just there for a workout are awesome. Everyone is legitimately stoked to see each other and it's unbelievably motivating. If you're looking to get in better shape head to Spring Valley and talk to Tiger. read more

This is the place you want to come to train, wether it's for jujitsu, Muy Thai, yoga, or MMA in general. The guy that runs that place, Josh, is a great guy and he also hops in classes sometimes to teach you some crazy moves. It's a great learning environment to learn and better your technique to be the best you can be. PJ and Andy are some of the instructors and they constantly tell you to keep coming as much you can because they genuinely want you to become better at what you want to do. I just started coming in the beginning of January and I am just learning jujitsu but the instructors keep an eye on you to make sure you continue to get better. I love this place and I try to come to as many classes as I can because it's fun to be here and get better with everyone else. All are welcome here and for that I am thankful. read more

10th Planet Fitness  is an amazing gym. From the second you walk in you're greeted by some of the most helpful guys there. Matt and Josh make you feel at home the moment you set foot in there.  The facility itself is huge and is still growing. There is no lack of equipment or mat space. They are extremely flexible in prices and scheduling. My work schedule is always shifting and it's easy for me to find a class that best suites me, no matter what time of day it is. Instructors:   Boxing: Tiger Smalls: He leads the boxing program there. He is a former champ and is extremely knowledgeable and has fantastic teaching skills. He's the loudest guy at the gym and it's so motivating whenever you take one of his classes. Muay Thai: Andy: Is one of the best coaches in the business. The first day of my Muay Thai class, I arrived 20 minutes early. I was both anxious and nervous cuz I knew my skill was nowhere near my peers. I had taken a 7 day trial at a previous gym and the first day I wasn't really given much attention being the new guy so I didn't really pick up the fundamentals about proper punching techniques. With coach Andy, he noticed me the second I walked In and asked if I was there for his class. I nodded and he proceeded to ask if I had ever thrown a proper punch or cross. I said no In embarrassment and he said not to worry, that we would go over that right now before class started.  Right away I knew I was in good hands. He makes sure that any question you have is answered. Kris: I've only taken a few of his evening classes and he too is an amazing instructor. He's got an upbeat attitude and is somehow always full of energy. He teaches the kids classes also and is currently training the next generation of beasts. Strength and Conditioning: Randy: Although I've never taken any of his classes, you can tell right away that whatever he teaches, it works. He's built like the terminator and looks the part too. Ronnie: I've also yet to take one of his classes, but he also leads a S&T program and he's got one of the best teaching methods whenever he subs in as the Jiu Jitsu coach. Jiu-Jitsu: Jacob: He leads the morning classes and is one of the most technically sound practitioners that I have ever met. He's extremely smart and his morning classes are a great way to start the day when I get the chance to attend. PJ: I spend the most time at the evening Jiu-Jitsu classes. He's definitely one of the best players in the game. He's got a track record to prove it and whenever he talks, you know he has years and years of practice behind his words. He has a keen eye at any minor details or adjustments you can make. He's extremely motivating and just 5 minutes into his or Jacob's classes, will make you want to come back. Overall, 10th Planet Fitness is an amazing gym. They are competitive in pricing, flexible in scheduling, and you are surrounded by some of the best Coaches and Training Partners. My only complaint about this place is, I didn't hear about it sooner. read more

The One place to get your workout on. I've been a regular here since it first opened, and has quickly become my favorite place to work out at with great instructors and impressive amenities. Along with an extensive weight area, this gym has a boxing ring, class area with boxing bags, and a caged jiu jitsu area. All their amenities, from the wooden floors to the mats, showers to the weight room, are all brand spanking new, regularly clean, and the best of the best. I've been to a bunch of MMA and kickboxing gyms in San Diego, and I will say this is the CLEANEST, and probably one of the biggest around with the top of the line equipment. The entire staff is friendly, the class instructors are very informative, and the owners are extremely passionate and knowledgeable about fitness. For all you early morning risers, the 6AM cardio kickboxing will literally kick box the sweat right out of you. I've also been training with Randy Barno who is by far the best personal trainer I know; his daily 7PM girl sessions are not only fun, but utilize a considerable amount of the gym with a mesh of different weight and cardio exercises, including boxing. #GirlsWhoLift. Try it once and One Training Center will be the only one you need. See you there! read more

I highly recommend this gym/location to everyone. The first time I went to check out the gym I had a great experience. Josh assisted me with any questions I had and talked a little bit about the classes and gave me a tour. Everyone were very friendly, I remember PJ asking me to join the class and Andy as well. I really wanted to take boxing classes but I ended up falling in love with Jiu Jitsu. About the location, honestly, is great! Gym is very clean and neat, plenty of parking and bathrooms and showers are always immaculate. Five stars to the staff as well! Very humble instructors and students. I'm changing my review to 4 stars. I asked the front desk (male staff member) to have the personal bootcamp trainer to contact me as I was interested in joining the female bootcamp classes in the back of the gym. This is by far the best bjj gym. The staff is super friendly as well as everyone that comes to train. This is the first gym that actually makes me get out of work on time and go thru hours of traffic so I can make it to class. Our coach is super helpful and has a great attitude. I have taken also other classes at the gym and they are great as well. I was never into fighting too much but just took one class to get hooked. Aggressive sales strategies and very rude when it comes to billing. I would not recommend this place for more then just that. I signed up thinking I would learn good mechanics for self defense and instead after a few weeks I ended up with a foot infection and learning in a group setting a bit like Zumba class at 24hr fitness. If you want a place to learn great mechanics in a clean gym, I suggest you look elsewhere. Being barefoot in a dirty gym is not my thing. I've not looked around and found gyms that are worth paying monthly fees for, this gym is definitely not one especially the tiger smalls boxing class. read more

I've always wanted to learn a martial art. Always! When I came to 10th Planet Spring Valley, I knew I was home! I tried a couple of other gyms but when I had my first class at 10th Planet, oh man the vibe, the people, I felt at home. The staff are very friendly and always encouraging you to give your 100%, but also to have fun! Coach PJ Barch is a leader who knows his stuff and he will take the time with you to make sure you're understanding and grasping the concepts of each and every move. PJ is a great coach and you will learn a lot from him just as I have. I had almost no experience coming into jiujitsu, but PJ and the other staff here made me feel welcome, no matter what my skill was. You meet new people and the people here are here for all different types of reasons whether it's to learn and grow in jiujitsu, or if it's for self defense, or even just wanting to strengthen or lose weight. There are no judgements here and I love that about this gym. All experience levels are welcome and it doesn't matter if you're brand new or you've been doing this a long time, the people here are willing to help you grow in anyway you want to. I've been coming here for over a month now and I've never had a bad experience. It's because of the people here and the atmosphere it presents that makes me excited to go every day sometimes even twice a day. I just love the energy and I love the passion that people put into it every day. Come check us out! :) you won't regret it! This gym is amazing. I had tried going to another gym closer to my house where i got a one week trial, however it was nothing compared to 10th planet. Everyone is really friendly and it is a great environment to be in. Specifically in jiu jitsu, you can feel everyone is excited to be there and truly enjoys themselves. Not only do i get to learn from a great coach, but my teammates are also happy to help each other in any way they can. Just to be clear I live right next to the border, and I drive all the way to spring valley just to go to this gym, that is how great it is. read more

I've been a member (on and off due to life events) before One Training Center became 10th Planet. I was a member of another nearby boxing gym that abruptly closed down. I feel that I learned more about boxing and kickboxing here than the 1.5 years of continuous training in my previous gym. I have primarily worked with Andy (Muay Thai and Strength), Tiger (Boxing), and Ivan (Boxing). I've worked with Prince (Boxing) maybe thrice and Ronnie (Strength) once. They are professional fighters, not like the amateur fighter coaches I've had in my previous gym. Besides being great at what they do, they are excellent in teaching. They don't just give the combos, they teach you the correct form or technique, and they explain why you do such a move. As a woman, I now have some skills to at least defend myself. I also feel that I know more what I'm doing instead of just throwing random combos. The boxing and Muay Thai class has some sparring sessions, and I'm surprised I'm able to do something in those sessions. (FYI You basically tap each other during sparring, but you may occasionally accidentally get a punch or a kick there. Don't be scared. It's actually a learning experience.) I cannot review the Jiu Jitsu classes because I have to pay extra for BJJ. But I've met the instructors and they are friendly. I've also watched them do their classes. As for Muay Thai and Boxing classes, you start with warm up by doing jump ropes (they have their own jump ropes, but I like bringing my own customized to my height, which I bought from RX jump ropes in El Cajon), and shadow sparring. Additionally, every class is different so you won't get bored. However, they sometimes focus on one technique per week so you train yourself how to do that technique. If the class has different skill levels, Andy or Ivan or Tiger would separate them, but still give you enough attention that you need. If you're new to boxing or MT, don't worry because they'll teach you. Don't feel bad or embarrassed that you're being separated. They really want you to learn the basics first, or hone your basics first. If they teach the combo and you don't understand it, don't be afraid to tell the coach because they'll patiently teach you how to do it right. If you go to classes a lot, you'll know the people who work there and who go to classes there. Everybody's friendly, and everybody knows they're there to learn. There are no big egos here (maybe only one...). Andy even follows up with me and my husband if we've been absent a lot. As for facilities, I've been to other boxing gyms (can't name them, but my old gym in Spring Valley, the MMA gym in North Park, the boxing gym in Downtown), this is probably one of the cleanest. Besides the exercise machines (you don't go to a MMA gym for those anyway), everything is clean and complete. They even have an exercise area with dumbbells, kettlebells and barbells if you'd like to work out on your own. For showers, they have separate stalls for privacy (not like 24 Hour or YMCA where it's communal), but it feels weird because it's in the hallway and you hear people passing by. The only thing is sometimes the women's toilet is broken or sometimes they ran out of toilet paper or soap. But then again, you don't really go there for that. You're there to work out so yeah... One more thing, there's plenty of parking, but it can be packed in the late afternoon. You have to come earlier anyway to wrap your hands if you're doing boxing or Muay Thai. I highly recommend this gym. Invite your friends. Bring your kids. Check it out! read more

I love this gym. I personally only do boxing with Tiger Smalls and strength and conditioning with Andy. Andy's s&C class is off the charts amazing!! He really pushes you for the entire hour I really enjoy his class!!!! The gym itself is open with plenty of room and equipment to use!
