Filled with…read morefashionable garments and trinkets with a vintage flare, I felt like I was browsing through rooms of European merchandise. Each area is categorized by color: blues to the right, browns and whites straight ahead, violets in the back of the store. Open doorways weave in and out of the dividing wall, allowing customers to float freely from continent to continent... er... section to section. Beautiful, plush scarves caught my eye, as well as some of the old writing table decorations. One room in the back was filled with an assortment of accessories, like jewelry, hair barrettes, and hats. Incredibly well organized, this shop is like strolling through a fashion museum. Prices were a little higher than expected, and although there were two salesladies in the store, neither of them acknowledged that I was there. That bumped Vintage Marketplace down to three stars. I'd still stop back for a browse though. The window display changes frequently (and, in my opinion, is the most elaborate in Hyde Park), so something new will likely draw me in again.

When I walked in the salesperson was behind the counter, but each room I went in to, she followed me. The two ladies we met today were very pleasant and are typical of the quality service we always seem to get from WHBM. Perhaps the only exception: PRO TIP: This is not the location I would recommend to pick up something ordered on-line. They don't receive a commission on these items and are aggravated with the practice. The only blemish on their customer service image would be to not purchase an item directly from the boutique. You may not want to mention you found their store by using Yelp. One of the ladies believes it to be a tool to sabotage small businesses. Unfortunately, I think my attempt to repair her thought process was a failure. It was also a bit of a drag when I learned that there is no public restroom. In other WHBM stores, an associate will escort you to the "employee only" bathroom. Especially if it's urgent and they know you don't make it a habit. No biggie. I went next door and ended up finding something really cool that was on sale. So, win-win. We found a couple of nice accessories that didn't break the bank, so success to us! 05/22

I pretty much just tried on everything he gave me. Basically, he made an AWESOME personal shopper. I felt like everything he gave me not only fit well, but looked good. It was a matter of me filtering down to the "one" outfit that would work for the wedding. Amy also jumped in with some suggestions and accessory ideas as well which provided some additional flair! I love their clothing, their accessories...and ESPECIALLY their customer service. They are truly the best when it comes to helping you find something specific. Truly, if I had done my own "perusing," I would NOT have found the amount of options that he found for me, nonetheless given a thought to some of the items he picked out that actually looked really good! I have had other experiences at other WHBM stores where the customer service is outstanding at helping you find something to wear for events. But seriously, you'll want to hit up the Deerfield Town Center location some time if you are on a mission. They will TOTALLY help you out. They are my go-to for "on mission" outfits!

I had not wanted to spend much on the trip -- and, well, Blush on Main ended that fantasy pretty quickly. Blush on Main has racks and racks of beautiful women's clothes and accessories. If it weren't for being pregnant, I may have revelled in these racks a bit more. My sister-in-law, though, found a few items to try on here. What I really loved was Blush on Main's hat collection. I'm a sucker for a great hat (for proof, see my main Yelp profile pic). This shop had a few varieties that were particularly good for more regular wear, such as when outside at home, at farmers markets, on vacation, etc. I found a straw hat with a blue band that I had to have. It cost around $45, I believe, which was over my budget for the day (see the second paragraph above) but not so much to break the bank. I forked over my credit card, and I wore the hat the rest of the day. My sister-in-law and mother-in-law also got great hats. Thanks to Blush for providing me something beautiful to take home with me!

I stopped by Downtown Girl just as Ute (pronounced oo-tah, she's German) and her husband Tom were closing up. I told them my story and they insisted I come in for some shopping. With a flip of the switch, the lights were on and music was playing. Downtown Girl carries all sorts of accessories for the feminine urbanite: from Fleur-de-Lis necklaces to soft, furry scarves, bright handbags, and intricate jewelery. If you're looking for a statement fashion piece, you will find it here. Everything sold in Downtown Girl is hand-selected by Ute. You'll definitely be getting a one-of-a-kind accessory and for a very reasonable price. I purchased several glass nailfiles as gifts for my best girlfriends. Ute provided wrapping for each individual item, complete with bright violet tissue paper, a filigree gift bag, and a sticker with her shop's logo. All my gifting needs were cared for under one roof. Downtown Girl has been in Montgomery for the past seven years. Recently, Ute expanded to the building next door, creating a sister shop: Uptown Girl, which carries clothing and posh accessories. http://www.yelp.com/biz/utes-uptown-girl-cincinnati Both Ute and Tom were the most friendly, genuine store owners. They even walked me to my car after locking up the store (again) to make sure I was safe. Now that's compassionate service!

The colors are muted, the apparel is understated and the jewelry looks more organic with lots of beads, natural stone and ceramic pieces. It's much more Serena than Blair. But oh my gosh, they have some to-die-for knits here! Do you ever find yourself watching a well-styled movie or TV show and you're thinking, "that's the outfit I want! It's so effortless and chic." This is exactly the place where you will find those effortless and chic looks. I'd head back in here before sweater season officially arrives to find some truly unique items.

On this last particular visit, I was particularly obsessed with a pair of loose fitting flow-y pants that caught my eye in the window. They reminded me of a pair I picked up in Seville, Spain last year. Hard to come by! Sadie Grace brings a stylish, progressive line up of dresses, dressy pants, accessories, shoes and overall trendy apparel.
