During the Montgomery Holiday Open House, Downtown Girl was one of my must-sees on my list…read more Unfortunately, I was delayed by a massive traffic incident and most of the shops were closing by the time I reached town. I stopped by Downtown Girl just as Ute (pronounced oo-tah, she's German) and her husband Tom were closing up. I told them my story and they insisted I come in for some shopping. With a flip of the switch, the lights were on and music was playing. Downtown Girl carries all sorts of accessories for the feminine urbanite: from Fleur-de-Lis necklaces to soft, furry scarves, bright handbags, and intricate jewelery. If you're looking for a statement fashion piece, you will find it here. Everything sold in Downtown Girl is hand-selected by Ute. You'll definitely be getting a one-of-a-kind accessory and for a very reasonable price. I purchased several glass nailfiles as gifts for my best girlfriends. Ute provided wrapping for each individual item, complete with bright violet tissue paper, a filigree gift bag, and a sticker with her shop's logo. All my gifting needs were cared for under one roof. Downtown Girl has been in Montgomery for the past seven years. Recently, Ute expanded to the building next door, creating a sister shop: Uptown Girl, which carries clothing and posh accessories. http://www.yelp.com/biz/utes-uptown-girl-cincinnati Both Ute and Tom were the most friendly, genuine store owners. They even walked me to my car after locking up the store (again) to make sure I was safe. Now that's compassionate service!

Soho? Noho? Nah, just Boho…read more There is a more subdued vibe in the Downtown Girl location compared to the Uptown Girl shop. The colors are muted, the apparel is understated and the jewelry looks more organic with lots of beads, natural stone and ceramic pieces. It's much more Serena than Blair. But oh my gosh, they have some to-die-for knits here! Do you ever find yourself watching a well-styled movie or TV show and you're thinking, "that's the outfit I want! It's so effortless and chic." This is exactly the place where you will find those effortless and chic looks. I'd head back in here before sweater season officially arrives to find some truly unique items.

I've only been here once and in the middle of the week, so I'm sure my experience here was a bit…read moremore chill than that of your typical weekend mall warrior, but it was a good experience overall. They had your typical mall establishments like A&F, Bath & Body, Macy's, Nordstrom, Apple, etc., but I was also pleasantly surprised to find a few stores that I know to be a bit more "rare," like a Capital One Cafe and Free People and some really high-end stores like Gucci and Louis Vuitton. While I didn't eat, the food hall was pretty big and included options like Chipotle, Chick- Fil -A, and Sbarro. You could also find the mall snack staples like Auntie Anne's and Cinnabon. It is two floors with a somewhat awkward layout, so the directories scattered throughout were helpful. The bathroom I went to wasn't the cleanest, but it wasn't terrible. There's seven different entrances, plenty of parking surrounding it including a parking garage, and there was security present. I would chalk this mall up to being rather typical.

Haven't been here for more than a year, coming back, seems not much changed. Still very popular…read moreamong visitors, and the people walking here dressed much better than you see in other shopping malls. It has several department stores as well as individual branded store. Whatever you are looking for in clothes section, most likely you will find it. Of course, it also covers other areas.. highly recommend, even walking around!
