This shop was a bit difficult for us to find since it doesn't have a big sign but we finally did. The lady working was really sweet and we had a good conversation with her. Since we were only in the area for the day she gave us suggestions on what to do and see. We ended up getting 3 truffles. Espresso, peanut butter, and dark chocolate sea salt. The price I think is very fair: $2 per truffle and honestly it's the common price I've seen around the country. (trust me you can find much more expensive!) Taste wise though I was slightly let down. The chocolate was slightly above standard but I think they lacked their secondary flavor. Meaning the peanut butter truffle barely tasted like peanut butter. In fact if it didn't have a peanut on top of it I would never have known it was peanut butter. The same goes for the other two. The espresso was rich but until you ate the bean you didn't get a full flavor and the sea salt was only salted on top (from what I found). Maybe this is the intention to have such a subtle flavor, I just wish it was more "in your face". My husband liked them although we both agreed the sea salt one was way too sweet on the inside. If I was in the area again I'd stop by and try some of the other more "interesting" looking flavors. They also sell chocolate bars and what not aside from the truffles. read more

Went for a "Spring Old Fashioneds and Chocolate" pairing event. I've done a couple of their beer and chocolate pairings in the past, but was curious about how well they could pair Old Fashioneds with chocolate. The pairings themselves didn't really do anything special for me. I get what they were trying to do, and it was a valiant effort, but maybe Old Fashioneds and chocolate just weren't meant to be. That said, the old fashioneds were pretty good and the chocolate is absolutely amazing. We sampled a peanut butter and jelly chocolate bar, a chocolate bar with macadamia nuts, and a couple others; they were all spectacular. Despite the pairings not really hitting for me, I had a good time. Because it's a chocolate shop I'll rate them on the chocolate rather than the pairing. That's an easy 5 stars. This is the place to go when you want a real treat. I've been buying Indulgence's chocolate bars for a few years now (they're lovely on their own, broken up over ice cream, or set out in pieces with nuts or cheese), but somehow, I've never managed to make it into the store. I went in for the sangria and chocolate tasting on Friday night and it was phenomenal! First, let's start with the service. We were lucky enough that the owner herself was the host for the night. Not only is she knowledgeable and passionate about her store and its products, but she's also just a really warm, nice person to chat with. As she was talking about the sangrias and the chocolates and why they were paired together, the flavors we should pay attention to, etc., we could tell we were in the hands of someone who was an expert in her craft -- and that made it really, really fun! Second, the wonderful food and drink. I love chocolate. I'm the type of person who will hunt out the best chocolate in a region for a little taste when I'm traveling, and I'm so glad that we have this type of chocolatier in Milwaukee. The chocolates themselves were both unique and beautiful - a chocolate-dipped piece of ginger, a strawberry balsamic truffle, a peach lavender truffle and a flambé cherries bourbon truffle, and the pairing with the different sangrias (each custom made to be a perfect companion to each piece of chocolate) brought out unique aspects of each flavor. Walker's Point, having acquired a brewery, distillery, coffee roaster, cheese maker, and some of the best restaurants in the city over the past few years, now also has the best chocolatier in the city, too (sorry, Buddy Squirrel). The small selection of truffles are nice, with plenty of room for experimentation (coconut habanero was fun to try), though I took it upon myself to focus on the chocolate bars. Purely for science, you know. For the fifteen different bars, there's almost as much variation in the cacao content as there is in the ingredients that get mixed in with the chocolate. Variations range from raspberry chipotle pecan to cranberry pumpkin seed to the popular cayenne and cinnamon that defines Mexican chocolate. And while all of the ingredients were top-notch, I would have been as content not having any of the mix-ins at all, instead just popping a few squares of the beautifully tempered chocolate into my mouth and let it slowly melt. The Mayan chocolate and vanilla bean malt were among my favorites because they complemented the chocolate without changing the mouthfeel too much. But that's just me, and it's part of the fun of places like this, where there's certainly going to be something suited to your tastes. Even if your tastes run towards the alcoholic - I've seen chocolate and wine pairings at other chocolatiers, but I suspect rarely outside of the Brew City would you find a chocolate and beer tasting. They're serious about it, too - the employee I was talking to was quick to dismiss my obvious mention of stouts and chocolate as being "too easy." There's also a cheese and chocolate pairing, too. The flights are cheap and quick and can be ordered at any time. The chocolate's perhaps the best in the city, the location suits them well, and with cool pairing possibilities, it's a very nice little place. read more

Our bartender was wonderful and fully explained each pairing... what flavor notes are highlighted and accented by the wine and chocolate together. We were bicycling down 2nd St, and I had built up quite a bit of momentum. In spite of, or maybe because I'm a fat guy on a commuter bike, loaded down with 6 bottles of wine, I had quite a head of steam going, and since force equals mass times acceleration, what the Chief of Staff suddenly did was very dangerous. She somehow overtook me, veered off to a sudden stop, yelling something about chocolate, it was more daring and athleticism than I've seen from her in a decade or more of marriage. Apparently, she became enamored of this overpriced but elegant chocolate a few months ago when she found some at Groppi's, then became even more of a fan when she read about the locally owned company on Dave Reid's blog (urbanmilwaukee.com). She was excited to hear about this new place very close to our house, but then she left to do dissertation research on the other side of the world, anticipating for months this store's opening. Wine and chocolate, two of her favorite things in the world. I thought the prices were a tad high, but I got glared at when I said so. I guess really good chocolate can't be priced like other food. So, I recommend this place to anyone who wants to buy a gift for a woman or girl who loves chocolate. Of course, I also recommend this place to anyone else who loves chocolate. Great place! Did a beer and chocolate pairing and LOVED IT! The staff was very knowledgeable as to what was being paired and why Indulgence chose to pair two items together. My review is primarily for the Rosè wine night I attended with a friend. I think these events can be very successful, but I also have a few recommendations. The selections were solid, and the information about the different wine, cheese, and chocolate was very interesting. Most of my feedback has to do with logistics (that can really make or break the event). 1) it's awesome to have assigned seating in a small place. However, it would be great to have nameplates or signage that indicates where you want people to move. My friend and I were among the first to arrive, and sat where we wanted. About five minutes later, one of the people behind the counter called out to us and gestures to move to another table. That's fine-but we could easily have sipped from the water glasses and handled the flatware before we were moved. 2) I have never been to a wine tasting that doesn't give you a fresh glass between pours. How do I know what the second and third tastes are, if the dregs from the first glass were still present? Very strange. 3) The interval between segments was way too long-it may have been paced off the folks sitting at the bar, but those of us at tables spent a lot of time wondering when we would be allowed to taste the next thing. It definitely doesn't take 10-15 minutes to taste a truffle and an ounce of cheese. 4) Let participants know where they can purchase the things they've sampled-the cheeses were all excellent, but I'm not sure where to get more. Over all, it was a pleasant evening, but a few tweaks could make these spaces really excellent! read more

The first thing that really stands out about Indulgence is the owner. The level of passion put into the space, the concept, the chocolates themselves, and the pairings is palpable. It's contagious. I want to put her in my pocket so I can pull her out every time I eat one of her chocolate bars so she can tell me again about why that flavor profile was chosen and what I should drink with it. They added a whiskey pairing to the beer and wine pairing options, which blows my mind. You can even do cheese and chocolate. The quality is there for sure. The location is right in the heart of Walker's Point so you've got plenty of options post of pre-visit. I absolutely love this chocolate shop. I've only been to the one in Walker's Point, but their truffles and chocolate bars are so unique and never fail to amaze me. It will sound like the strangest combination of flavors, but will pleasantly surprise me with how perfectly paired they are. The service is impeccable, and I've hosted private tastings as well as gone to a couple of their pairing classes and they are SO MUCH fun. We always have a memorable time, drinking wines you can't find at the grocery store, perfectly paired with scrumptious chocolate or cheese. The staff is also super welcoming and have a great sense of humor to keep groups entertained and engaged in the pairing. I vacationed in Milwaukee last year and found this place. While the chocolates are amazing they don't take their online orders very seriously. My friend ordered me chocolates as a birthday gift on January 9, 2016 and it is now March 4, 2016 and I have yet to receive them. My friend called them in early February to ask what the issue was and they said they had received the order but had forgotten about it because it had special instructions. She even called before placing the order to see if the the special instructions were okay to add to the order. read more

Chocolate, cheese and wine are all things that make a happy girl. Combine them and you have the proverbial "Cloud 9" effect happening. The staff at Indulgence knows their pairings, and they expertly describe each duo of chocolate wine/beer/cheese. You do not merely get a plate and some glasses in front of you. There is knowledgeable explanation, a smiling staff member, and tasty treats. I even bought an extra truffle for the road...and a bar of chocolate...and a bottle of wine. What can I say? I was sold. I am anxiously waiting for the next time I can drop by this Sweet, sweet shop. It is sweet, because it has a quaint and old world interior with new world chocolate flavors. You'll see the likes of grey sea salt, habanero, and limoncello as additions to far-from-average chocolate. I am going to be hosting a chocolate and beverage pairing next month, and I refuse to go anywhere else for the former portion. There is so much more to this shop than chocolate.
