So sad! Free parking will be over tomorrow. We went on the last day. Immediately saw the signs that were still covered til the paid parking goes live on Monday, 5.22.26. Just in time right before Memorial weekend. Now there really won't be anymore free parking in the beach in Pinellas County / St. Pete to Clearwater Beach. We have a tiny few in Clearwater we found. That's about it. So sad. From looking it up, it looks like the meter will be $4.50. This is cheaper than Pass A Grille and Clearwater Beach off hand which is $5-6 an hour at the meters. Traveled down to Clearwater for an early Thanksgiving with my brother and family and found a WONDERFUL AirBnb just a couple of blocks from Indian Rocks Beach. Score!! In spite of the fact that this beach is "under construction," (including a looooong line of rusty steel pipes apparently transporting more sand from off shore...) it's beautiful, less crowded than other beaches in the area, and PERFECT for a quick, early fall getaway!! Avoid the crowds, and check out this beautiful, scenic, and soon to be EXTRA sandy gulf paradise... BONUS: You'll see sooooo many exotic birds (egrets, pelicans, herons...) you'll think you're DEEEEEP in the tropics, and not just a few miles away from the busy "strip!!" ENJOY!! read more

A wonderful beach on the gulf side of Florida. It's a very clean beach and I think less crowded than some of the other beaches. We did go during off season, but this beach was quieter than the other ones. There are some small restaurants around this beach, which is nice. It's a really cute area. You do have to pay to park, but cheaper than the bigger beaches, like Clearwater. read more

Florida's beaches are beautiful with white sandy beaches and very (very) warm water. I'm from New Jersey so I'm used to a little colder water so it takes getting used to. Because of storms there was a lot of seaweed but I don't think it's usually the case. The beach was nice and clean and not too crowded. Parking can be limited so be aware. The water depth levels off nicely and you can walk a long way out. All in all a very nice beach. read more

Weekend getaway and the closest beach to our Airbnb was this beach and so happy we went there, such a beautiful beach and the water was perfect. Upon entering, we had to drive around a few times to find a parking spot, this is a paid parking area. We had ample room to set up our canopys and enjoy the beach. Have been coming here on and off for 7 years. We stay away in the winter due to the snow bird crowd. Too cool anyway. The beach is beautiful,clean and sand is soft. There is a nice gradual slope to enter the ocean. Mostly find local and tourist families. At the main beach there is a pay to park lot , and it is small. There are restrooms and showers. A chair rental company supplies 2 chairs and an umbrella for $45 / day. The beach never gets too crowded, except during the snow bird season. My first time in the area and was pleased to hear there was still a beach that had free parking. We made many sunset trips to the beach to play and relax after a long day. There is only one handicap parking spot at each public entrance. There are a handful of spots to park on each area. Easy to turn around if you enter and it's full. We parked at 5,4, and 1. 1 was a little difficult to see around the blind curve to take a left out of on a busy Saturday night. Small walk to the beach. Beach is very clean. This quickly became one of our all time favorite beaches to visit. There was an easy access rinse station at the end of the walkway. read more

Can't recommend this beach enough...but not at all. Go to Clearwater or Siesta Key please. :) Not unlike a fellow Yelper friend, I'd like this beach to stay untraveled, untouched, and unbothered. It's quiet, only mildly used by area hotels, and clean and neat. I didn't cruise the strip in the area enough to determine quality of restaurants and retail, but I imagine there's enough on Gulf Drive to keep you fed and hydrated. Only issue I came across was public restrooms. I just might have isolated myself to too small a section of the beach to know, though. read more

Most (if not all) of the West Florida Gulf Coast beaches are beautiful with white sandy beaches and blueish-green waters. IRB is no different. Public street parking at IRB is limited and difficult to find a spot. This is more convenient for local residents or vacation rental visitors. Others have mentioned parking lots which tend to fill up as well. It's Memorial Weekend and it was a beautiful day with perfect temperature. It was also exceptionally crowded today. read more

It's quiet and the small city and beach area is home to several locals. You get that small beach town vibe from here. Definitely not a party scene, but that's okay I wouldn't want it any other way. I know quite a few people whose favorite beach is Indian Rocks, and for quite good reason- it's an awesome area! The white sands, clear water, and wide stretching perimeter are just the perfect guidelines for a relaxing and enjoyable day. A lot of shops and restaurants are all within a walking distance, and there's much more there than meets the eye. Parking can be the only hiccup, which is pretty common at most beaches, especially the more popular ones. There's one main pretty big lot, but if that gets full that's when it gets tough. There are a few small side streets that have a few spots but you really need to have an eagle eye when you don't come early. This is a great vacation getaway area and I'd highly recommend the visit! read more

Indian Rocks Beach is one of my favorite beaches to relax at with family! My favorite feature of Indian Rocks Beach is all the Beach Access Points with free parking available 6am to 11pm! Even better, many of the beach access points have a toy bin with "take a toy, leave a toy" message. You can borrow and leave toys so kids always have something new to play with! Kids love that! Some of the beach access points even have a mini library where you can borrow and leave books for the adults to enjoy! Every beach access point has showers, a walkway through the mangrove, and a sign that says "leave nothing but your foot-prints". Indian rocks beach is a pretty quiet beach with no waterfront beach bars or restaurants but there are plenty of restaurants across the street from the beach. Indian rocks beach has fine sand and clear waters. Most of the beachfront housing is Condominiums or vacations rentals but there's no mega hotels on the beach here. You can see some beautiful sunsets at this beach! If you're in the Tampa Bay area, looking for free beach parking and a quiet beach experience out of the tourist spotlight with restaurants across the street, definitely hit up Indian Rocks Beach! read more

This is such a beautiful relaxing beach. I hadn't been to this particular beach since last year. At that time they were in the middle of replenishing the beach. I have to say they did an awesome job! This is a quieter beach and you will probably find more families relaxing with their children here. They have metered parking and a small lot. I've noticed over the last three years that the lot fills up quickly. There are restrooms on Indian Rocks Beach but no lifeguards or snack bars. If you are going for the day bring your own food & drinks! At this beach there are chairs and umbrellas for rent if you desire. read more

Came here to enjoy some great weather and get out of the house. Figured this would be a less crowded beach. The public parking area was closed due to being full but we did find parking within the side streets. We ended up parking between 11th and 12th ave. Some of the restaurants around also offer parking for $10 a day. Beach was clean and people were good about social distancing. Police was patrolling the beach throughout the day to ensure people were practicing social distancing as well. Officers were very nice about stuff also, 1 stopped us to ask if we wanted a recommendation to where to be less crowded but we were meeting someone in the direction we were headed. Only complaint is that depending on where you decide to lay out, there is no restroom areas. So it could be a long haul to get to one. read more

Indian Rocks Beach is North of Indian Shores Beach, and South of Bellair, Sand Key, & Clearwater Beach. Indian Rocks Beach offers nearly 3 miles of beautiful, easily accessible beaches. Indian Rocks is one of my favorite beaches to relax because it offers a whopping 27 beach access points with plenty of free parking! Every Beach Access point has free parking, a shower, a bike rack, a wood bridge through mangroves, and a sign that says "Please leave nothing but your footprints". Some of the beach access points have a free library where you can borrow books and a toy bin where you can borrow or trade beach toys. The laid back vibe of Indian Rocks Beach is what makes it a hidden gem. It's not so overpopulated that it's overly difficult to find parking, but it's also not so remote that you can't walk across the street to a restaurant and grab a bite to eat. While there are no restaurants or bars directly on the beach, Indian Rocks Beach restaurants include Thai Pan Alley, Casa Italia, Guppy's Seafood, Keegan's Seafood, The Original Crabby Bill's Seafood, 18 on the Rocks, Aqua Prime, Pajano's Pizza & Subs, VIP Mexican American Cuisine, JD's Restaurant & Lounge, Rick Daddys Eatin' Fresh, Slyce Pizza, Anecdote Brewing, Kooky Coconut, & Chicago Jaqx Pizzeria. Indian Rocks Beach got its name when a native medicine man miraculously healed his chief with the waters from a natural sulfur spring believed to have been located in Kolb Park across from Indian Rocks Beach City Hall. Early settlers seeing the Indians on their way to the "rock encircled spring" would say, "The Indians are on their way to the rocks." While Indian Rocks Beach is one of my favorite beaches to relax, if you're looking for a more social beach with bars and restaurants directly on the beach, try St Pete Beach, a couple beaches South of Indian Rocks Beach, although parking can be a bit of a challenge. read more

My wedding took place at a cottage on Indian Rocks Beach. It was the middle of May and surprisingly a quiet weekend. The ceremony took place outside at sunset, and happened to be the most breathtaking sunset I've ever seen in my entire life. Beach days are pretty easy. There are plenty of public beach access lots to park in. While the main street is bustling with traffic and hungry folks walking over to bars and restaurants, the beach itself isn't too crowded. I've enjoyed long walks on the beach at dusk, fourth of July parties and my wedding of course. The beach is well kept and clean. I think the majority of guests stay in the nearby hotels, condos and cottages. There are plenty of affordable private properties along this beach for vacationing. I suggest booking through VRBO or Airbnb. You can't beat living with the gulf in your backyard. read more

Gorgeous, white sand beach!! $2.50/hr for parking in the lot. Bathrooms, a cool "free" borrow/leave a toy bin, a fresh water shower to rinse, wide sandy beaches with rolling waves and a long, wide sandy shallow shore bottom, and shells!! Bliss!! Went on Sat, with overcast skies and scattered showers, we had the beach nearly to ourselves! (Except for a few drunk guys smoking weed...). Came back the next day, Sun (4th of July), and the beach was stacked three deep. Not crazy though, although much more crowded! There are chairs and umbrellas you can rent. We paid $27 for several hours (until 6 pm), for two reclining chairs, a large covered umbrella and a small table. Totally worth having shade on a hot sunny day! And not having to buy or carry chairs and umbrellas?! Priceless!! My daughter made this little mosaic turtle out of shells we found on the beach. Beautiful family beach!!! read more
