Pier 60 at Clearwater Beach is one of my favorite beach spots. The sand is incredibly soft and powdery white, and the beach itself is beautiful and relaxing. Growing up close to this area, I think I took how soft the sand was for granted, but not anymore! I also love the lively atmosphere around the pier, with local vendors selling unique items and fun activities for families, including trampolines and bounce house water slides for kids. There's almost always live performance shows of breakdancers on a regular basis too. There's always something to enjoy whether you're walking the pier, watching the sunset, or just relaxing by the water. If it's too much activity going on, it doesn't take much to walk down further to more quiet and less crowded parts of the beach. Also keep in mind the time of year of your visit, like Spring Break season gets really busy. There are also plenty of big umbrella stations with lounge chairs nearby for hourly rent close to the hotels. It's a perfect destination for anyone looking to enjoy a classic Florida beach experience. If you are going to Clearwater Beach then this is the place to park. A semi large parking lot near the pier, as always come early to get a spot or wait until about 2p when everyone who should have applied sunscreen starts to pack up and leave. The cabana and umbrella guys have a reduced price after 3p and 2 hours at the beach is enough for me! Then you can walk the pier and prepare for the sunset. The Pier has a fishing area at the end ($1 entry fee) and a small snack stand. The views of the beach and area hotels are awesome. In the evening you can find hand made crafts from local vendors. There is also entertainment at the end of the pier. For .25 you can look through "binoculars" and see a view of the water or nearby beach. It was windy when we walked along the pier. You almost need a hat with strings. We held onto our caps. The area is lovely, even when overcast. read more

Great place to stop and see the sea or do a little shopping. You can rent a fishing pole and get bait if you want to try fishing right off the pier. They have snacks as well as nice restroom at the middle of the pier where you pay if you want to go to the end of the pier. Good location, about from the beach. You can see Pier 60 from the rooftop bar. Friendly staff and easy check-in. Our room was very clean, comfy bed, lots of pillows with a safe, microwave and mini fridge. Breakfast included and underground parking. Tons of restaurants up and down the boardwalk and easy access to the beach. read more

I love ocean piers with their warped weathered boards and rusty nails, I love the sunrise and sunsets and that first sip of coffee with an ocean view. I love the twilight in the morning 'fore the day wakes up and the wind blowing it's salt air across my face awakening my appreciation for a brand new day or the blessings of another one in the books. Nothing slows down father time like an ocean view, this pier can host the most peaceful experience if you arrive at the right time, a view of the water painted sky along with sea shells clanging from a distance wind chime and maybe some reggae tunes from a beach side bar. It's a amazing how a few hundred feet of wooden pier can distance you from a bustling life a quarter of a mile away. Given the choice I rather be beachside with a cold beer and my favorite shades, some worn flip flops and a tank top taking in the day. All of that is here so where are you??? read more

Hubs and I used to come here at night years ago and walk the pier and beach. The pier has vendors selling their crafts and you can often stumble across some cute things. The area isn't what it used to be or maybe it's because we came during summer break. Overly crowded and too much traffic. Just the crowd that comes here and the lack of cleanliness of facilities and shops makes it a turnoff for me. I'll stick with other beaches. read more

The weird thing is they charge to walk to the end of the Pier? Maybe not enough revenue comes in for this city? Not sure or upkeep of the pier? The Pier is a nice alternative if you are not in the mood to hang out on the beach, but still want to enjoy the waterview while in the shade. Not all of the pier is covered, but there are parts where you can sit down and relax. The second part of the pier starts at the store, in order to have access to the last part you pay $1 and they let you through the gate. This part is mainly occupied by a fishing crowd, and a variety of birds you can watch up close. I loved hanging out here for an hour in the shade. This pier cuts through the very middle of Clearwater Beach. Though it is nothing extravagant like the Santa Monica Pier, it is still worth a walk. You will get an elevated view of both sides of the beach. And along this pier, there is a convenience store, restrooms, and an ice cream shop. Once you get closer to the water, there is a shop selling beach and fishing things. It makes sense because once when get to the end of the pier, you will a bunch of people with containers of bait fishing. Great views of the water and sunset from the pier's end too. read more

I was stayed my at a nearby hotel and spent a day at the beach. But eventually my kids got restless and wanted to fish. They had already walked down the pier on a previous day so they knew the store there rented all the equipment you need. We rented poles and bought shrimp bait. They also offer squid. Note you get a knife and can easily cut the bait to extend it as each item is sizable. You can fish until 9 pm. If your not fishing you can walk to the end for $1. The fishing this day was not great but with persistence my son did catch a sheepshead. All that matters is my kids had a good time and since I live nowhere near a beach or ocean they both loved it. read more

We spent the day at 2 beaches in Clearwater! We attempted to park on the street but totally full on a Saturday afternoon. Independent lots were 25-30 a day! If we had gotten there earlier in the day ...maybe I'd pay that price. We had 4 hours or less. Decided to park a few blocks away for under 12.00. Beautiful beach, clean sand. Great location to people watch, get a bite to eat or drink. Stores for shopping as well, clothes, souvenirs etc. Loved the laidback environment and people were respectful and friendly. We will make plans in future to get a hotel or Airbnb to stay longer than a few hours to enjoy Clearwater next time! read more

This is a beautiful pier on the ocean in Clearwater Florida. My wife and family go down here to visit her grandma about every other year and we always go to this pier and take pictures and watch the sunset and play on the playground and go to the beach walk the area and just see all the cool things they have the offer so it's a really fun pier that I highly recommend for everybody to check out when you're in the area especially at night time watching the sunset over the water it's a beautiful sight read more

Superb view of the long super white sand beach.. It's a busy spot to stop by, particularly when it's nearly dusk and time to view Clearwater's famous sunsets. Be prepared to navigate the crowd. View of Clearwater beach is to die for. Super white sand, less crowd at the beach and sunset time, all make it really beautiful Street performers and sidewalk vendors made it very unique. Fun place to hang out and people watch. The end of the pier has an admission fee( $1 only) and is only open for a few hours a day. Most of the visitors stay back behind the "admission" area, so if you do pay the fee, you don't have nearly the number of people to contend with. It's quieter down there and more places to sit and enjoy the sunset without crazy levels of noise around you. Sunsets at the pier are a must see. it's quite beautiful from here. The parking lot is nearby, $1.25/hour and also it is at 490 Poinsettia Ave, Clearwater, FL 33767, so you are set for parking. read more

Definitely crowded but is fun to walk the Pier. We came on a Saturday and they had craft vendors on the Pier. Alongside the Pier they had some attractions such as water slides, a trampoline, etc. There is a restroom right by the Pier but man! It is super crowded. Be prepared for a wait. If you really want to enjoy the beach, go on a weekday instead of the weekend. No crowds, no fear of contracting COVID-19 from anyone because it's so sparsely populated. The weather is awesome, the breeze feels great... throw in a nap and I'll die and go to heaven, lol! Even the pier is empty if you care to go fishing on a day like today. It's literally a ghost town here. Even better, the seagulls aren't nearly as pesky as they are when it's a large crowd. Come build a sand castle, fly a kite, go fishing or just do like I do and chillax. My daughter, Maddie had a great idea to come today and I'm glad I listened because I'm not really a fan of the beach so it's definitely a win-win. read more

Pier 60 is a beautiful spot for families to visit in Clearwater. There is a HUGE playground area (2 separate areas) and they're both covered to top it all off! There were always kids playing - ranging from babies that could barely walk at the smaller playground up to middle schoolers on the larger playground. This is definitely a great place to let the little ones run out some energy. Right by the playground there is a little beach shop that sells everything from towels, sunscreen, hats and beach toys to a full menu of burgers, hotdogs, fries and sodas. There is also a bathroom connected to this building as well as lockers that you can rent for the day. The only downside to this pier is that the parking can be a bit dicey. You have to stalk people in the parking lot - especially on the weekends. If you get there before 10am you should find a spot pretty easily but after that it's going to be a crapshoot. If you're lucky enough to snag a spot I'd suggest staying there until you're ready to go for the day. There are plenty of great restaurants and shops within walking distance too. Oh and obviously go and enjoy the beach - because it's beautiful! read more

First off, unless you visited a lot of piers you probably don't have a wide perspective on the really good or the really bad. This is not Santa Monica in LA or the Navy Pier in Chicago. It's a great pier for several reasons. First of all it's made of concrete. Many are made of wood and they wear with time and weather or they are at risk to storm damage, especially hurricanes. They have controlled access and charge $1 buck for walkers and $8 bucks for fishing. This is great because it keeps the control with the owners and reduces risk of crime. It has built in bait cutting boards. This is ideal for those who fish because you don't need to bring yours and you can avoid people hacking up the wood and creating more damage. It has adequate lighting the length of the pier so as it gets dark, you can see and it also creates additional safety factor for those who might be concerned about such topics. There are also many well built trash receptacles all along the pier. This helps to keep it clean and controls the access by the birds. They regard the wildlife. They've created a nice resting area for the Pelicans, Egrets and Heron's who abound so they can also be viewed/enjoyed by visitors. There are 2 large covered areas at the end of the pier. When the sun is extreme, it allows for shade, when it' raining it allows for cover. Finally, the views up and down the coast are amazing.
