Decent food. I've gotten takeout and dined in at this lovely little gem and I have always been pleased with the meals that I have gotten. I also get disappointed sometimes when I go for Indian food and ask whoever is waiting on me to make my food very spicy and it comes back as barely registering with me in terms of heat. My only complaints are that they don't spice my food the way that I would like it to be and that rice isn't included with their curries. Otherwise the food is pretty tasty. read more

I walked in and there was only one other person in the place, and he was behind the counter. He acknowledged my presence with a nod, and that was all. I could almost hear the sound of crickets in the awkward silence that followed. There are baked goods on display, but none of their other food is on display at all. For someone not extremely familiar with Indian cuisine, being able to see it helps a lot, even if it's just pictures on a menu. I ended up ordering (to go) the non-vegetarian lunch thali, which includes (or is supposed to include) a chicken dish, dal, vegetable, raita, roti, rice, pickle, and dessert. My lunch was ready in about 7 minutes. Hooray for fast food Indian! As you can see in the photo, there is a small, medium, and large section in the very sturdy plastic lunch container they provided. The large section contained a heaping portion of plain basmati rice and 4 big slices of tandoori roti. The medium section held the vegetable, a mix of potatoes, okra, onions, and tomatoes in a curry sauce. The smallest section was home to the 'chicken dish.' I suppose I should have asked, but there was no indication as to what chicken dish it was. For my $9, I think the amount of food was good but the chicken dish should have been in the medium sized space, and the veggie in the small slot. There was also no dal or pickle provided. I can do without the pickle, but was very much looking forward to the dal :( The raita was a nice change of pace to the savory dishes, cooled off the mouth nicely. The dessert was a single galub jamun (based on a google images search) in one of the smallest lidded plastic containers I've ever seen. It was quite adorable actually. The chicken (still not sure exactly what dish it was!) and vegetable dishes were very tasty and had a good amount of heat without being overwhelmingly spicy. As 'fast food' goes, I'll take this over McDonald's any day. But faster yet are the many Indian buffets in the area, where you walk in and have immediate access to a plethora of hot dishes. Bottom line, IH is a good place to pick up bring back to work to eat. I'll give take-out another shot, but this is not at all a place I would want to go sit and eat. Indian Hut Exton, is our favorite fast-food place to go. Both my kids love their pastries (always so fresh and moist). My fav quick bite is their delicious samosas and black forest pastries with Masala Chai. Few years back we had our son's birthday party there and all the guests loved their food and complimented on the service provided by their staff and said it was worth the drive for the awesome food. Their food is always fresh and yummy. The female at the counter is always so courteous and welcoming and friendly. All of their staff members are very friendly and I would specially like to thank Rajeev for always being so courteous and helpful who never fails to offer outstanding customer service. Rajeev always goes above and beyond to take care of his customers and I have seen him provide this same level of service for over 8 years now. With such great selection of food ( Cakes, Pastries, Samosas, Dosa's Chicken Lollipops, and what not) I highly recommend this place. We just love it and hope you would love it too...Oh! Terrible food and expensive for chaat & snacks etc. The cashier lady (who probably is the owner) was quite rude. There were 3 girls who had ordered 3 separate items and asked for it to be less spicy, but their food turned out to be very spicy instead. I started out with the samosas which were awesome, then moved on to the non-vegetarian special of the day which was chicken tikki masala. I was bummed that the special happened to be a dish I've had many times as opposed to something new to me. I probably should have made another selection but being a noob I decided to stick with the special so that I could sample the accompanying side dishes. The chicken was fine, the bread was very good, and so were what I believe to be some form of baked french fries with green peppers; I'm sure they have a name but no idea what it could be. Other random inclusions were a pickle (vile), bread (naan? good), rice (it was rice), something resembling lentils (sort of bland), something that resembled cole slaw which turned out to be onions in a yogurt sauce (onion overdose), and one lone fried honey ball (OK). In order to achieve the minimum credit card payment of $15 (a major con, to be sure), I added a mango lassi which turned out to be a good call and definitely the highlight of my meal. As far as the service, it was brusque; noobs shouldn't expect much help deciphering the menu - I sure as hell didn't get any. I also asked to have my lassi at the end of my meal so it wouldn't sit there getting warm. That request fell on deaf ears. I also didn't get a "thank you" , "how was everything?", or any other basic tenets of hospitality. I'm not going to indite the place based on one indifferent staffperson, plus there's still so much to try and, after all, Craig LaBan raved about the place, so I'm leaning on returning. read more

On the good side: The place was filled with customers who appeared to be Indian. Always a good sign that the food is good if people familiar with the food like it. The bad - resulting in 1star: I was never spoken to by the staff; not even acknowledge. I stood in front of the baked goods display next to the register for at least 10 min while many people who stepped up after me received service. I was actually Okay with waiting because I needed assistance selecting because I am not familiar with Indian food. But, after 10 min of apparent invisibility, I left. Mayur C. has brought me here on multiple occasions to please my South Indian heart. I stick to the various dosas and have never been disappointed. The sambar is well salted, the coconut chutney is fresh, and the tomato chutney is zesty! If you've never had a dosa (they aren't at most Indian restaurants), go try one, you won't be disappointed. They also sell North Indian food too and delicious Indo-Chinese. The gobi munchirun is a must-try! This is a daba-style restaurant as in good food/no frills. You can pay at the counter/no waiter service which is actually convenient, fast service. Sometimes the food comes out not piping hot, which is meh. read more

Hard to leave a positive review when you don't get what you ordered. Tried to feed a family event with takeout from this location. In addition to the half hour wait after driving half an hour over, we got our food and made the return trip. Unpacked the food in front of the family only to discover there was absolutely no rice present to serve the food over. When we called to see what the issue was, we were informed Indian food is never served over rice and that we were wasting their time. OMG the Biryani! This inconspicuous place serves up an amazing rice-chicken/mutton combination. Its authentic, flavourful and just delicious. The rice is cooked to perfection and the meat takes you back to the streets of India. We discovered it on saturday, and came back sunday night for another fill. read more

O.K, I've eaten here a few times now and feel I can give it a proper review....Love it!!! Decor is very humble and it's counter service, vinyl benched booths, a self serve water dispenser and plastic dishes (which I kinda dig). Always been pretty busy when I've gone and the the staff is all business. Check out their menu online. I've had: couple of the dal's.....oohh yes. The biryanis's...mmmm baby. Dosa...ahhhhh. The food here is OK - some items are better than others. On my vegetarian Thali, some items were freshly made while others seemed like they were heated with cold and hot spots in the microwave. They offer a Chicken Dosa, which is rare to find. Service is consistently NOT good. They need to pay more attention to their clients and the kitchen needs to churn out food faster for those on a lunch break. This is a tough review . This is a bizarre place. The food is good but sometimes it's great. It's a sweet bakery and an Indian restaurant. It's not pretty. Set up like a fast food joint. Formica tables. You order at the counter. But when the food is on it's crazy good. I guess my biggest issue is sometimes the food Tastes preprepared. Like it's been sitting around. I love Indian hut. What brings be back is the "local" feel and authentic taste. Although I haven't tried all the items, Chicken 65, Chicken biryani and Chole bhature are some of my favs. I am familiar with authentic Indian food. One thing to keep in mind is this is not your "Americanized" indian restaurant. It has a local feel to it and the taste is close to what you will find in small restaurants in India. You won't find yourself being greeted or seated by staff - help yourself. Go to the counter, ask for menu (ask questions if not sure), order your food (go to the counter - they don't come to take your order), wait for your buzzer (they give a buzzer) to go off, bring your food to the table and enjoy! You can leave the dishes in the table once you are done. This much of information is good enough for you to enjoy Indian hut. They ask for $15 minimum for credit card use. So either take cash or go hungry. Room for improvement - the place can be cleaner and staff can be more friendly/smiling. read more

My mouth is still recovering from the curry blast I received from ordering the Karahi vegetables. I was offered rice and bread, which I had to turn down because of current dietary issues. The bowl of vegetables was delicious and I will be going back to this place. As someone mentioned, it's a combined bakery and restaurant, so little in the way of wait service. I would still highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a sample of spicy Indian food. Oh yes, there was a TV playing Bollywood movies in the background with subtitles in English. One time my pregnant wife puked all night after eating their samosas - but that was just one off incident, other times we have been fine. I stopped by the restaurant today to find two of their employees not wearing masks. One in the back and also a lady in the front. She was handling food and not wearing gloves or a mask. When I asked her why she was not wearing a mask, she did not have an answer for me. I asked her again why she was not wearing a mask and her response was she was hot. I asked her if she was going to wear a mask and she did not comply. Putting their customers and coworkers at risk is simply irresponsible. It is a disservice to the community you serve in and there is no possible explanation as to why you would flaunt regulations and not do something as simple as wear a mask or gloves while handling food. This is what Indian convenience food should be. The Veg Dum Biryani is a standout rich with cloves. The vegetarian thali is an incredible value available only at lunch time. For $7.99 you get 3 delicious vegetarian dishes, rice, raita, 4 naans, pickle, milk tea, and dessert. My only criticism is that parts of the thali are only luke warm. I've ordered indo chinese twice, something new for me. The Manchurian curry was too sweet but Manchurian dry was a delicious blend of savory spice, slightly sweet. The samosas are a bit less peppery than most but were quite fresh and had a wonderful texture of velvety potato and plump peas. The counter workers are fast and take pride in their food. read more
