The porous crispy Rava Onion Dosa hit the spot and a good serving as well. It wasn't crowded when we went and able to easily snag a table. There are daily specials with 50% select dosas on Wed 4-9pm. I drove 39 minutes to dine here, hoping for a great experience, but unfortunately it was very disappointing. From the moment we walked in, there was no welcoming attitude or positive approach while ordering. The staff member taking our order appeared distracted, frequently on his phone and more focused on lip-syncing to Hindi songs playing on the TV than assisting customers. We ordered Paneer Butter Masala (spicy), but it lacked flavor, salt, and any level of spice. It was very bland. The naan was served cold and seemed like it had been made well before the main dish and left sitting out. Additionally, one item my daughter ordered was completely forgotten. My wife and I were almost finished with our meal when I went to the counter to ask about it. We were told it had been forgotten. During most of this time, it was difficult to get the staff member's attention because he was on his phone. When I asked for his name as we were leaving, he said his name was Utsav and that he is the owner. That made the experience even more disappointing. As a customer who drove a considerable distance, I expected professionalism, attentiveness, and at least a welcoming atmosphere. Visited this Indian hut location to meet my friend for lunch. The place is located closer to busy intersection of Ridge pike and trooper road, next to car vision/Lidl. They got private parking lot and easy tom park. The ambiance of the store is great and well maintained. There are lot of seating space. The menu is good and well planned for quick bites, lot of chaat options, pastries and some meal options too. We ordered Chicken Dum Biryani and Dosa. Dosa is perfect which is big and good portion size for the price, comes with Sambar and chutney. Chicken Dum biryani is very bad and you can call it is a white rice randomly mixed with some chicken pieces. Only good thing about it is it was served hot. They should have told they dont serve chicken biryani I would have happily order something else. But if they claim this is their recipe they should revisit it. I will probably give them another try as my friend said they serve good food usually. read more

I've come here twice and enjoyed my meal both times. It's a very casual spot but underrated when you can get solid dosas for just $6 when you go on the 50% off dosas on Wednesdays promotion. Everyone I have gone with has really enjoyed their order and it's very filling. You order at the front and only pay after you've finished eating. The staff are pretty patient. Horrible experience at Indian Hut Norristown on 08/08/21 - the metal pin in attached picture was found in Aalu Tikki. It was buried deep inside and we only found it while chewing. We were lucky, the pin was not swallowed, otherwise it could have led to life threatening injury. It was very scary. The worst part is owner and person in the restaurant had no seriousness about it. I'd say for portions and taste, they were generous. Definitely more authentic than say Taste of India. A little on the pricier side but for those portions I'd say it's okay. A customer would average $9-13 here for their meal. On the other hand, they seem to be appealing heavily to the Indian population. You could smell the strong spices right when you walked into the parking lot. Furthermore, the menu seems kind of overwhelming with the large amount of unfamiliar language. It's helpful to have a letter and number system next to the item to assist those who don't want to butcher the language. I felt pretty uncomfortable trying to order. I'd say, if you want to cater to the general public maybe changing the menu so it's more welcoming and easy for the non-Indian customers or those unfamiliar with Indian cuisine. The food itself was pretty good. We ordered lamb and a small bite (B6) which was cold. At first we were just looking off the specials menu, but a chef told us that what we had ordered was a dry dish, so we altered it. See, this could've been avoided with better explanation (since there was none on the board) or a more readable menu! The lamb itself came with a spicy sauce and a yogurt sauce. Adding basmati rice was an extra $.79 but it definitely helped to address the spices in the lamb. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the rice was light and colorful. Very filling. The small bites were filled with potatoes, chickpeas, and sweetened yogurt sauce. That was interesting and pretty good too. The format of the restaurant was also puzzling. It had the exterior of a Wawa and the interior of an attempt at a modern restaurant. There was plenty of seating on the left side, but i didn't notice it at first since I thought most of the seating was from the booths at the front. I wish they would make it more prominent. Furthermore if you dined in, you pay at the end of your meal and can leave the trays on the table but when you order they give you a buzzer to pick up your food. This also misled me, since the layout seems more fast food oriented, but payment is more sit down oriented. Although the food was good, I felt put off by the unwelcoming menu and confusing layout. I left feeling more puzzled than satisfied. I understand the conflict between the desire to stay authentic or appeal to the general population and I think they've made their choice! To start with, their food menu has a wide variety. But remember, variety is not equal to quality. The restraunt needs to work on their upkeep, being a new restaurant it does not have the freshness you would expect. Tables are not kept that clean, spoons kept for people had dirt on them. For the food, we tried the veg hakka noodles, it was lacking in taste, spice and salt, tried chilli chicken with that which was still better but was not really something I would order again. We also tried the chefs special chicken biryani, this comes with regular biryani's chicken and chicken 65 in it. It was tasteful but chicken 65 was just too dry. Finally we tried their strawberry pastry which was too sweet. Mind you, it was not thay they had a big crowd to cater too, but still it was dismal. read more

I called to place pick up order but they did not answer. Within 5 mins I got a call back and the guy apologized for missing the call and wanted to see why I called. Well, I placed my order and walked in 15 mins later. I got attracted to the cakes and pastry section and ended up getting the one Pista and Pineapple pastry - both were equally good. Just to give a try I ordered only 1 dish - the Dhabeli. Even though it was not the authentic one but whatever they made was fresh, flavorful and I loved it. It's not they it took extremely long, but it should've been a more efficient process. I was the third person in line, the people in front of me took 19 million years with their order and to pick out a dessert. By the time it was my turn, they asked to let another guy in front of me to pay for something. This is a decent place for a quick bite. It doesnt have a lot of tables but plenty staff to keep the orders moving. I ordered a Dabeli and Vada Pao combo from the Quick Bites section. I wasnt a big fan of either, the Vada was missing its Soul which for me is the Spicy Garlic Chutney, and the Dabeli just didnt have enough tang. For main dishes, we ordered Onion Rava Masala Dosa, i made 2 special requests 1. to make it spicy and 2. to give piping hot Sambhar. While the Sambhar was indeed piping hot, in terms of Spice, they just topped the masala with lot of green chillies. Surely not what i expected. Also sambhar was underseasoned in terms of salt, but an easy fix My husband ordered Chana Bhatoora and holly molly that was sooo damn delicious. It is a must must try. We finished it all with White Forest pastry which is a Super YUMMM strawberry white cake pastry. Even the candied Cherry on top was delish. I ordered B1, C8, R2, E1, L-4 and B8. B1 Samosa Plate-the samosa were good. C8-Egg Noodles- the egg noodles were so spicy my whole mouth was on fire. I literally had to hold ice cubes in my mouth to try to dampen the heat. The dish was inedible. Wasted money. R2-Garlic Naan- after my first bite of the egg noodles, I tried wrapping some in the naan and it was still too hot. The naan alone was fine. L4- was a Sprite I couldn't drink because it only made the hotness burn more. E1-was white rice which I had to pay extra for. It was edible. B8-vegetable and potato cutlets with hot chickpea curry. I missed the hot. I think if I had not been in such pain I could have eaten this. I missed it with the rice and tamarind sauce and ate a little. Overall this meal was a waste of money. The building is a little confusing. We've gone by for months and thought it was a grocery store. But we called to ask if they serve masala dosa, which they do. So we went in to eat. Excellent food!! This is NOT your standard American prepackaged preservative-laden bakery blasphemy. The pastry chef knows how to create an authentic Genoise with real whipped cream that may not be surmised from the celebratory cakes on display. I'm sure they're expecting this review. Long story short, we ordered a Black Forest Cake for our child's first birthday. We also ordered some Samosas. Bear in mind that we ordered 2 weeks in advance. Whoever was on the other side of the phone confirmed our order. I went in to pick up our order just minutes before our guests arrived. Guess what? They had no record of the order. They all looked startled and I had to watch in horror as they asked one another if they knew about the order. Well, no one had a clue what I was talking about. My heart sank. I was so mad and disappointed that I couldn't think. I called my Wife to confirm that we had not picked it up and she confirmed my worst fear. Anyway, one of the guys offered to give me the cake on display. What an insult!!! I guess you'd do anything for the money huh? The cake on display? Really? I rejected it and walked out for 2 reasons: 1) I don't know how long you've had the cake on display. 2) No one felt it was reasonable to offer the slightest apology. No apologies. None! To make matters worse, I went back just yesterday January 31, 2018 to let them know how they almost ruined our Child's first birthday party, but the guy kept asking me if I paid for the order. Really? We called in, you were on speaker phone and I heard you confirm and act like you were taking notes. You said it would be ready for pick up and we'd pay when we picked it up.
