I came here with my family a couple weeks ago because we had a pretty good discount (not the Groupon). The place was a bit hard to find at first because I think they still had their old restaurant name up... The inside is fairly romantic and dimly lit, with tables along both walls and a row in-between. I was really excited for the dosas on the menu because I haven't had them in a while, but our server said they don't serve/were not serving dosas. Didn't even get an explanation. We ended up getting the fried appetizer platter, cauliflower paratha, palak paneer, lamb curry, lamb pasanda, and a mango lassi. The fried appetizer platter had an assortment of samosas, veggie pakoras, etc. I thought it was pretty good, especially the samosas. Cauliflower paratha was very oily. Palak paneer was completely off; I've ordered palak paneer from dozens of Indian restaurants, and this just did not taste like what it was supposed to. I called and ordered the egg biryani, samosa chaat, aloo paratha, rasmalai, and sweet lassi. They delivered in good time but after they left - and I gave a $10 tip as well - I found there were NO utensils. I called and told the person who answered the phone that I had no utensils and he didn't really care. There was also no rasmalai. The samosa chaat was ok - soggy but flavor was ok. Came here over a weekend to try the lunch buffet. Originally I found this place on Restaurant.com, but found you cannot use their coupon for lunch, only for dinner. The fiance and I still wanted Indian and were out in Plainsboro anyway, so we went. The food was good. They had a good selection, and had that Indian "kick" that many other places we've tried since moving have lacked. Everything was fresh, and they brought out Na'an every so often. I was glad that they left the water pitcher at the table. Many places take forever to come back and fill your glass. The place began to pick up more around 45 mins to closing time, which we thought was odd. We came in with 2 hours until the buffet was over, and there were 2 other groups. When we left there had to have been 8 groups. Only negative I have for this place - We paid our bill with cash, and had 25 cents owed to us. The waiter did not give it back. It's only 25 cents, and I would have put it in the tip regardless, but the fact of the matter is that I over paid for dinner and did not receive my change. One could look at that as stealing. We tried the Chicken fried rice and the chilly chicken. Very average food - nothing to write about. We also ordered the hyderabadi chicken biryani - All the chicken seems to taste the same . We were in the mood for some Indian food and ordered take out. It was a very disappointing experience. The food we got wasn't even close to authentic Indian food, now one may argue that they say they are a fusion restaurant, but, fusion doesn't mean destroy the flavors. We ordered lamb rogan josh, tasted like spiced water, no flavor or depths to the sauce. Next was the goat curry, how does one mess up a basic Indian curry? They seem to have mastered it here. The naan was the only thing that was ok. Seekh kabab, orange color? Really. Big disappointment. There are many other choices in the area for authentic and fusion foods. I took my family here over the weekend and thought it would be promising - the food was a nightmare. When we first arrived we barely received a warm greeting, but i'll get over that issue. Then we ordered Vegi Assorted platter and chicken 65. Let's start with the chicken 65- I asked the server the level of heat I need to specify 1 is bland and 10 is Super spicy- we asked for 8. The waiter suggested to us being that they are a Indo-Fusion restaurant it would make sense to order some dishes that are on their Indo-Chinese menu. So we did....BIG MISTAKE! Manchurian curry was horrible and Chicken Fried Rice very dry. Now for their Indian menu food, the Tandoori chicken was bland and nothing I can do made it taste like authentic Tandoori Chicken. The Bordoloi's special chicken byriani was so salty that my stomach was turning while we were driving home. Now this pisses me off, being an Indian a Fine Restaurant how do you screw up making DOSAs??!!! I make dosas at home with NO problem. We figure, let's complain about one dish because it doesn't make sense to complain about EVERYTHING - just not right. So we told the waiter, the Dosa is not good. The waiter smiles and walks away. He doesn't even suggest to us would you like something else. By the way, the person in our group that had the Dosa left the restaurant hungry! Now to the chicken tikka masala- it was at best 2 out of 5. I would not recommend going to this establishment as they don't care about customers and their food is abysmal. Finally, we had a lot of food left over, and I'm not one to throw away food, so we asked for containers so we can pack things up. The wonderful waiter gave us 2 containers and then walked off. He started waiting on another table and we had to chase him around for more containers. There was no Thank You to use for coming to their establishment or for the tip. I had to say thank you to him for the containers and he didn't even respond with a "You Welcome". I'm trying to be a good critic here and not be so mean - but these guys ruined my Sunday Dinner with my family. As good faith, I'm willing to hear the owner's or chef's explanation as to why the food was so bad that day? Very disappointed customer! Walking into this establishment you might think you've stepped into late-period Satyajit Ray, but as soon as the waiter/steward opens his mouth it's clear that you are, in fact, caught in mid-period Jacques Tati. The chicken makhni's pretty good, but the garlic naan is a disaster: you're hustling a bad shell-game when you think the customer can't tell the difference between garlic and a goddamned onion. ("Here's the moon. Okay, now here's sixpence.") The first time I came here to eat, a fat white man, strangely trying to impress the woman who was presumably his daughter (and who was old and smart-looking enough to be embarrassed), yelled over to the steward: "Is the chef in a good mood today?" before emitting a sustained chortle. That's odd, I thought. Then I read the following on chefmoz.org: "One saturday myself and my daughter [apparently different diners than above] went for the buffet. My daughter is 13 years old. She accidentally spilled a few teaspoons of curry on the table cloth. The owner (the short man with turban) came to our table and told us that we don't know how to eat at restaurants, and we should pay to get the table cloth cleaned." I ended up at Indian Hut because of a groupon deal and I have to say it was definitely worth it. We started off with the veggie platter (B16) which was a nice sampling of some of the veggie appetizers and all of them were delicious! Of course we had some naan, but unlike other restaurants I've been to, the naan was not complimentary but had to be ordered. For our final course, we shared the Lamb Vindaloo (L8) and Lamb Rogan Josh (L11). Both were incredibly flavorful and thoroughly enjoyed by both of us. The only issue I had here was the portions were not very large, but when we did take some home the waiter gave us an extra portion of rice to take with us which was a nice addition. EDIT: Unfortunately, Flavor of India has now become "Indian Hut" which consists in the same decor and I think the same people running the place, but a vastly reduced menu. I've reduced my rating from 5/5 to 3/5 accordingly. They are far better than Masala Grill, Mehek and Kalluri Corner (all on or right off of Nassau at Princeton University) but they don't seem to get as much business as those three due to their locations. Indian Hut is worth the visit only if you have a coupon/ deal. The dishes were basic / boring in taste. I far prefer Palace of Asia in Lawrenceville for Indian cuisine. I had a Groupon for this place. The location is in a strip mall, kind of tucked into one of the back corners. We were the only people there for most of our meal. However, I thought the food was very good. We had the spiced chicken appetizer, Rogan Josh, the chicken Dosa, and the bread basket, which was huge. We ended up taking a lot home and it was still good the next day. They had a nicely sized menu with lots of dishes I don't normally see at other Indian restaurants (at least not in Los Angeles or West Virginia, I haven't eaten at many Indian restaurants in NJ). They also had an Indo-Chinese section which we didn't try at all, but sounded kind of intriguing. My main complaint is that service was kinda slow. Definitely do not go here if you are in a hurry! In recent months, this restaurant (previously Indian Hut Curry and Cakes) has been rebranding itself and is now Bordoloi's Indian Fusion. Their updated decor is nice, much nicer than the old, dingy cafeteria look they previously sported. My four star rating is SPECIFICALLY for the weekend buffet, which has great variety and is a great value for the price. I am Indian American, and vegetarian. Many INorth ndian restaurants tend to make all their vegetarian entrees taste exactly the same...a few vegetables swimming in a greasy gravy. Not so for Bordoloi's; each sabzi has a distinct flavor (as it should), so it's great to get such a variety from the buffet. They also keep it pretty fresh, warm and well stocked. We've been enjoying it. I have not been impressed with their South Indian food, which is a bit bland, so I wouldn't recommend going here for South Indian cuisine. But the buffet is well worth it. read more

I've never had the buffet here, but I can only assume the lunch buffet is how they stay in business. Whenever I go here for dinner or to pick up take-out, it's mostly empty. Except, that is, for the mouse I saw scurrying - slowly - around the floor last time I was there. Meandering, really. Rodents aside, the food is good. I love their lamb korma, chicken makhani, and palak paneer (the last being cheese cubes in a yummy spinach-based sauce). They serve crispy bread with two sauces as an appetizer (for free), which they also include for you if you get take-out. Rice comes with most dishes, but naan is extra. This is a new restaurant, formerly under another name. We had a groupon for the buffet and decided to try it. It's a great deal, the staff is helpful and the buffet dishes are all labeled. The foods are mostly vegetarian and we enjoyed almost all of them. If you like trying new foods I recommend a buffet like this. read more

There are many ups and downs about this restaraunts including service, quality and atmosphere. Pros: * Quality of food was very good and taste wise, it was very authentic * Atmosphere was okay CONS: * Service WAS TERRIBLE for A SATURDAY NIGHT Do not expect food to come out quickly but do expect the wait staff to forget about your requests and orders * Very understaffed ( 2 waiters serving 12 tables * Constant excuses from the wait staff were very frustrating * Some dishes came out cold/warm and NOT HOT In summation, the food was a 6/10 but the long waiting times and terrible service throughout the night easily crossed off this local restaraunt from my list of places to eat. read more

Terrible. First, let me set the stage by saying my wife and I have dined in a wide assortment of Indian food throughout Central NJ, from Iselin (home of the some of the best Indian), to S.Brunswick, North Brunswick and the Princeton area. We are not experts in Indian food, but have a pretty good "feel" for a what a solid Indian restaurant should be delivering, quality, quantity and service-wise. This place does not deliver, on all three fronts. Where do I begin? First, I purchased a Groupon for the weekend buffett. $19.99 for two, valid from 11:30am t- 3;30pm. We went this past weekend, around 1:30pm. We sat down, showed the waiter the Groupon, right up front. He thanked us. We ordered some Indian Tea, then went to the buffet, only to find half of the 12 or so bins empty of food?? The place has maybe 6-7 tables of people, at most...not close to "busy" by my standards! We dined on the "skimpy pickings" of what was remaining in the bins, trying to be mindful of other's coming down the line as well! (Something you should NOT have to do!). The food tasted "average" at best. The spicy rice was WAY too spicy for us. One of the dishes (I think the creamy mushrooms) was cold, despite it having a warmer underneath. The silly music they were playing was WAY too loud...you could barely have a conversation over the music. We were not the only one's complaining, trust me. After a good 30-40 mins, they finally refilled some of the bins, but this time, I had been mostly full of half-eaten food. Then, unexpectedly, the owner came by to tell me, he had a problem with the Groupon...he mumbled something to me about " me not presenting it up front and that it was "too late in the day for the Groupon". I said loudly, "What??" Two other parties were next to us, on the left and the right...all heard this embarrassement I was going through. I repeated that we had presented the Groupon to the server, upon being seated. I pulled the Groupon out and showed it to him. Come to think of it, if we didn't do that, how on earth did this guy even know that I even HAD the Groupon, right? I told him firmly, we presented the Groupon up front, AND that it's valid from 11:30-3:30pm (yes, I did read it before leaving!). He walked away, half-apologizing to me. The couple to our right was completely baffled as well!! I was like, you gotta be kidding me?!!! Is this anyway to treat a customer that walks in with a Groupon?? By comfronting them, at their table, all within earshot range of two other customers next to us??? Never in my life. Then, to top it off, he decides to charge us for the Tea. I confronted him at the front of the restaurant, and told him "I"m very surprised that you are charging us for the Tea, after this terrible experience, along with empty food bins". He said the bins were all being refilled. I said no they weren't! I didn't want to "Have it out" in a public restaurant with this guy, and ruin other diners experience, but trust me, I was ready to tell this Jerk of an owner or whoever he was, to take it outside with me, so I could really give him a piece of my mind on how "Terrible an experience this place was". This place, hands-down, wins the 2015 "Worst Restaurant Experience of the Year" award! Avoid this place and go else-where. I went to this restaurant along with a few of my friends and their families last saturday. I will give you reasons why I have to take 3 stars away from the rating. 1) The food was way below par. ( The Lamb/Goat was too rubbery and un-chewable) 2) The food was not re-filled in a timely manner at the buffet station , and even other customers were also getting frustrated because of that. 3) There was no transparency in the final bill , they were not able to explain clearly how the bill totals north of 240 + dollars. 1st they said Kids below 3 years only are entitled to half price ,and since most of our kids are above 3 years old , they were charged full price. They were never any clarity on this rule anywhere. When the numbers still didn't add up to .... they said they included gratuity. (They returned that money back after we pointed that we only had buffet) . When it still didn't add up , they said it has taxes included in the bill . ( Which is fine , but should have been transparent) 4) There was no effort from the management to step-in and put an effort to address customer concerns. Overall for what we got at 16:00 dollars ( even for kids ) per plate , I cannot give more than two stars. read more

I love having this place so close to where I live. Whenever my b/f and I are in the mood for Indian food, we head over to this place out of convenience and comfort. There are very good reasons for why we keep coming back: excellent service, decent food and prices, and a wide variety of dishes. We've gone for dinner and the lunch buffet several times, and we never walk out disappointed. The lunch buffet is a very good deal because you get a wide variety of dishes for like, $10/person. And since the place is so busy and packed for lunch, the food is very fresh - it's not one of those Indian buffets that reheat trays of food from the previous day. Dinner is good and worth the money if you have a particularly favorite dish. Good decor, too. The only thing I don't really like is they have Fox news running on the tv most of the time... but that's a totally different thing. Taste is great, portions run a little small. If you are white you need to let them know you like the spice, or else you will be treated like a child and given mild food.... unless you are a chump and like mild indian food. If thats the case, Trader Joe's has some good frozen Indian dishes you can heat up in your microwave. I usually tell them "white person spicy" and they get it. I went for buffet last week. Most of the dish of food was empty and food was not properly cooked. Tandoori chicken was not cooked properly.

Like many of the other reviewers, it was the groupon that drew us here. I came with a friend and we started the meal with the samosa appetizer as well as a mango lassi. Both were very yummy. For our entrees we had the chicken korma and the chicken dosa. I like the chicken korma dish more while my friend preferred the dosa. Both dishes were very hearty and filling. The dosa kinda reminded me of ethiopian food where you eat with your hands by wrapping the "crepe" with potato and chilcken filling. The server was very nice and helpful. Their prices are also very reasonable even without the groupon. Most of their meat dishes are around 10 bucks and they also have specials every day. One of the things lacking for me was the ambiance...a little bit outdated. The food was okay and to think we got so much food for just $15 is really a steal. read more

Strictly on food, this place is a 2.5-3. Hit or miss, but theres the occasional dish worth trying (paneer tikka kabab). Other than the rare star though, theres nothing very good or very bad. Its fairly middling. Service is atrocious. Counter staff isn't above lying to you, nor trying to cheat you out of a few bucks here and there, nor charging the mandatory gratuity on the post tax price(so I guess more cheating you of a few bucks here or there). All told this place is a 1.5 but ill round up because they are accomodating of food requests (extra spicy, more sauce, whatever your desired customization may be). read more

We love indian food. Unfortunately we did not like the food here. We came to the indian Hut because of a groupon offer. Our malai kofta had no taste, we were amazed, we asked for medium and has absolutely no taste. The kids love butter chicken, can't go wrong with that but they said it was kind of watery, they usually do not complain. The mixed grill was not as good as the other places. Even the naan seemed from a supermarket and not fresh. We were quite disappointed. The decor was fine but we go to an indian restaurant for the food. The lady servicing us was very nice so one star more for the service. When restaurants make a offer thru Groupon it is their chance to increase their clientele, it is their time to excel otherwise they will have the opposite reaction. read more

Very rude staff, they treat customers like shit, three of us went to have lunch today, we asked for the to go box worth 5.99 each & requested the waiter (Mr. Attitude named Sai) if we could have it there, the restaurant was 'EMPTY', not a single soul there, but were rudely snubbed by the fellow, later we were told that they were out of the Mango Lassi (a part of the box), when we insisted that we want our drink they said, they have the lassi but they are actually out of glasses, we told them that's not our problem they need to figure out a way, to which we were told "Take it or leave it!", Food was mediocre, after such rudeness even good food would have tasted bad anyways.
